  • Binary serialization of datasets parameters in web services

    - by Someone
    In a system with both ends (client and server) in .NET, is it possible to use the binary serialization provided by the dataset class in ADO.NET 2.0 when the datasets are exposed as WebMethods parameters ? Is it ok to use something like the following just before the dataset is returned: someDataSet.RemotingFormat = SerializationFormat.Binary;

  • Initializing a C++ vector to random values... fast

    - by Flamewires
Hey, id like to make this as fast as possible because it gets called A LOT in a program i'm writing, so is there any faster way to initialize a C++ vector to random values than: double range;//set to the range of a particular function i want to evaluate. std::vector<double> x(30, 0.0); for (int i=0;i<x.size();i++) { x.at(i) = (rand()/(double)RAND_MAX)*range; } EDIT:Fixed x's initializer.

  • HTML5 offline cache google font api

    - by Bala Clark
I'm trying to create an offline HTML5 test application, and am playing with the new google fonts api at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas how to cache the remote fonts? Simply putting the api call in the cache manifest doesn't work, I assume this is because the api actually loads other files (ttf, eot, etc). Any ideas if using the font api offline would be possible? For reference this is the call I am making: http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=IM+Fell+English|Molengo|Reenie+Beanie

Example: in html I have " 1,000.00 | 500.00 | 20.00 " and in excel it shows like: "1,000.00 | 500 | 20" I want it to know if it is possible to show the very same format as in html. THankyou :P

  • Remember (persist) the filter, sort order and current page of jqGrid

    - by Jimbo
My application users asked if it were possible for pages that contain a jqGrid to remember the filter, sort order and current page of the grid (because when they click a grid item to carry out a task and then go back to it they'd like it to be "as they left it") Cookies seem to be the way forward, but how to get the page to load these and set them in the grid before it makes its first data request is a little beyond me at this stage. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing with jqGrid? Thanks!

  • Alternative Host (by DNS?) for Web Server Failure Protection

    - by Matrym
I'm interested in having a second web host run a copy of my website, such that if my first host goes down, the traffic routes to the second host. Is this possible? My guess would be to add additional nameservers beyond the first two. I also suspect it's doable with no-ip.com, but I'm not clear on how that works, and if they would require me to leave my first host entirely?

  • Fast method of directory enumeration on Win32?

    - by BillyONeal
Hello everyone :) I'm trying to speedup directory enumeration in C++, where I'm recursing into subdirectories. I currently have an app which spends 95% of it's time in FindFirst/FindNextFile APIs, and it takes several minutes to enumerate all the files on a given volume. I know it's possible to do this faster because there is an app that does: Everything. It enumerates my entire drive in seconds. How might I accomplish something like this?

  • OsCommerce - Remove osCsid in urls

    - by user203350
I discovered that Google has indexed the osCsid parameter in some of my URLs at my osCommerce application. I tried to find a solution but I don't want to do something if I'm not sure what I'm doing. I only have access to the FTP and not the CMS system. Is it possible to solve this problem through the FTP?

  • Getting the position of the element in a list when it's drag/dropped (ui.sortable)

    - by Wurlitzer
Hi, I have a sortable list like this one: http://jqueryui.com/demos/sortable Is it possible to get the start and end position of the element in the list, when it has been moved? I'm talking about their position number, in the list. For example, if I move element 2 to position 5 in the list, I'd like to assign those two numbers to variables. I'm new to jQuery - any help would be much appreciated.
