  • Apache with JBOSS using AJP (mod_jk) giving spikes in thread count.

    - by Beginner
    We used Apache with JBOSS for hosting our Application, but we found some issues related to thread handling of mod_jk. Our website comes under low traffic websites and has maximum 200-300 concurrent users during our website's peak activity time. As the traffic grows (not in terms of concurrent users, but in terms of cumulative requests which came to our server), the server stopped serving requests for long, although it didn't crash but could not serve the request till 20 mins. The JBOSS server console showed that 350 thread were busy on both servers although there was enough free memory say, more than 1-1.5 GB (2 servers for JBOSS were used which were 64 bits, 4 GB RAM allocated for JBOSS) In order to check the problem we were using JBOSS and Apache Web Consoles, and we were seeing that the thread were showing in S state for as long as minutes although our pages take around 4-5 seconds to be served. We took the thread dump and found that the threads were mostly in WAITING state which means that they were waiting indefinitely. These threads were not of our Application Classes but of AJP 8009 port. Could somebody help me in this, as somebody else might also got this issue and solved it somehow. In case any more information is required then let me know. Also is mod_proxy better than using mod_jk, or there are some other problems with mod_proxy which can be fatal for me if I switch to mod__proxy? The versions I used are as follows: Apache 2.0.52 JBOSS: 4.2.2 MOD_JK: 1.2.20 JDK: 1.6 Operating System: RHEL 4 Thanks for the help.

  • Finding the order of method calls in Eclipse

    - by Chathuranga Chandrasekara
    Suppose I have a big program that consists of hundreds of methods in it. And according to the nature of input the program flow is getting changed. Think I want to make a change to the original flow. And it is big hassle to find call hierarchy/ references and understand the flow. Do I have any solution for this within Eclipse? Or a plugin? As an example, I just need a Log of method names that is in order of time. Then I don't need to worry about the methods that are not relevant with my "given input" Update : Using debug mode in eclipse or adding print messages are not feasible. The program is sooooo big. :)

  • Algorithm to aggregate values from child tree nodes

    - by user222164
    I have objects in a tree structure, I would like to aggregate status information from children nodes and update parent node with aggregated status. Lets say node A has children B1, B2, and B1 has C1, C2, C3 as children. Each of the nodes have a status attribute. Now if C1, C2, C3 are all complete then I would like to mark B1 as completed. And if C4, C5,C6,C7 are complete make B2 as complete. When B1 and B2 are both complete mark A as complete. I can go through these nodes in brute force method and make updates, could someone suggest an efficient algorithm to do it. A { B1 { C1, C2, C3}, B2 { C4, C5, C6, C7} }

  • EJB 3 Session Bean Design for Simple CRUD

    - by sdoca
    I am writing an application that's sole purpose in life is to do CRUD operations for maintaining records in database. There are relationships between some of the tables/entities. Most examples I've seen for creating session beans deals with complex business logic/operations that interact with many entities which I don't have. Since my application is so very basic, what would be the best design for the session bean(s)? I was thinking of having one session bean per entity which had CRUD the methods defined. Then I thought of combining all of those session beans into a single session bean. And then I found this blog entry which is intriguing, but I must admit I don't understand all of it (what is a ServiceFacade?). I'm leaning towards session bean/entity class, but would like to hear more experienced opinions. Thanks.

  • call lynx from jsp script

    - by Piero
    Hi, I have an execute(String cmd) in a jsp script that calls the exec method from the Runtime class. It works when I call a local command, like a php script stored on the server. for example: /usr/bin/php /path/to/php/script arg1 arg2 So I guess my execute command is ok, since it is working with that. Now when I try to call lynx, the text-based web browser, it does not work. If I call it in a terminal, it works fine: /usr/bin/lynx -dump -accept_all_cookies 'http://www.someurl.net/?arg1=1&arg2=2' But when I call this from my execute command, nothing happens... Any idea why? This is my execute method: public String execute(String cmd){ Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime(); Process p = null; String res = ""; try { p = r.exec(cmd); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr); String line = null; //out.println(res); while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { res += line; } p.waitFor(); } catch (Exception e) { res += e; } System.out.println(p.exitValue()); return res; }

  • Amazon SQS invalid binary character in message body

    - by letronje
    I have a web app that sends messages to an Amazon SQS Queue. Amazon sqs lib throws a 'AmazonSQSException' since the message contained invalid binary character. The message is the referrer obtained from an incoming http request. This is what it looks like: http://ads.vrx.adbrite.com/adserver/display_iab_ads.php?sid=1220459&title_color=0000FF&text_color=000000&background_color=FFFFFF&border_color=CCCCCC&url_color=008000&newwin=0&zs=3330305f323530&width=300&height=250&url=http%3A%2F%2Funblockorkutproxy.com%2Fsearch.php%2FOi8vZG93%2FbmxvYWRz%2FLnppZGR1%2FLmNvbS9k%2Fb3dubG9h%2FZGZpbGUv%2FNTY5MTQ3%2FNi9NeUN1%2FdGVHaXJs%2FZnJpZW5k%2FWmFoaXJh%2FLndtdi5o%2FdG1s%2Fb0%2F^Fô}úÃ<99ë)j Looks like the characters in bold are the invalid characters. Is there an easy way to filter out characters characters that are not accepted by amazon ? Here are the characters allowed by amazon in message body. I am not sure what regex i should use to replace invalid characters by ''

  • Hibernate + Spring : cascade deletion ignoring non-nullable constraints

    - by E.Benoît
    Hello, I seem to be having one weird problem with some Hibernate data classes. In a very specific case, deleting an object should fail due to existing, non-nullable relations - however it does not. The strangest part is that a few other classes related to the same definition behave appropriately. I'm using HSQLDB 1.8.0.10, Hibernate 3.5.0 (final) and Spring 3.0.2. The Hibernate properties are set so that batch updates are disabled. The class whose instances are being deleted is: @Entity( name = "users.Credentials" ) @Table( name = "credentials" , schema = "users" ) public class Credentials extends ModelBase { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; /* Some basic fields here */ /** Administrator credentials, if any */ @OneToOne( mappedBy = "credentials" , fetch = FetchType.LAZY ) public AdminCredentials adminCredentials; /** Active account data */ @OneToOne( mappedBy = "credentials" , fetch = FetchType.LAZY ) public Account activeAccount; /* Some more reverse relations here */ } (ModelBase is a class that simply declares a Long field named "id" as being automatically generated) The Account class, which is one for which constraints work, looks like this: @Entity( name = "users.Account" ) @Table( name = "accounts" , schema = "users" ) public class Account extends ModelBase { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; /** Credentials the account is linked to */ @OneToOne( optional = false ) @JoinColumn( name = "credentials_id" , referencedColumnName = "id" , nullable = false , updatable = false ) public Credentials credentials; /* Some more fields here */ } And here is the AdminCredentials class, for which the constraints are ignored. @Entity( name = "admin.Credentials" ) @Table( name = "admin_credentials" , schema = "admin" ) public class AdminCredentials extends ModelBase { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; /** Credentials linked with an administrative account */ @OneToOne( optional = false ) @JoinColumn( name = "credentials_id" , referencedColumnName = "id" , nullable = false , updatable = false ) public Credentials credentials; /* Some more fields here */ } The code that attempts to delete the Credentials instances is: try { if ( account.validationKey != null ) { this.hTemplate.delete( account.validationKey ); } this.hTemplate.delete( account.languageSetting ); this.hTemplate.delete( account ); } catch ( DataIntegrityViolationException e ) { return false; } Where hTemplate is a HibernateTemplate instance provided by Spring, its flush mode having been set to EAGER. In the conditions shown above, the deletion will fail if there is an Account instance that refers to the Credentials instance being deleted, which is the expected behaviour. However, an AdminCredentials instance will be ignored, the deletion will succeed, leaving an invalid AdminCredentials instance behind (trying to refresh that instance causes an error because the Credentials instance no longer exists). I have tried moving the AdminCredentials table from the admin DB schema to the users DB schema. Strangely enough, a deletion-related error is then triggered, but not in the deletion code - it is triggered at the next query involving the table, seemingly ignoring the flush mode setting. I've been trying to understand this for hours and I must admit I'm just as clueless now as I was then.

  • How to allow anonymous login in org.apache.ftpserver?

    - by ablmf
    I wrote a little code like this to start an ftp server embedded in my application. It's based on apache ftpserver I found that anonymous user could not login. Client keeps get 530. Do I have add a configure file for ftp? I can not find any API to create a User to add to UserManger. private void start_ftp() throws FtpException { FtpServerFactory serverFactory = new FtpServerFactory(); ListenerFactory factory = new ListenerFactory(); // set the port of the listener factory.setPort(DEF_FTP_PORT); // replace the default listener serverFactory.addListener("default", factory.createListener()); Ftplet fl = new MyFtplet(); Map<String, Ftplet> map_ftplest = new LinkedHashMap<String, Ftplet>(); map_ftplest.put("default", fl); serverFactory.setFtplets(map_ftplest); UserManagerFactory u_factory = new PropertiesUserManagerFactory(); UserManager u_manager = u_factory.createUserManager(); //u_manager. Boolean b = u_manager.doesExist("anonymous"); serverFactory.setUserManager(u_manager); // start the server server = serverFactory.createServer(); server.start(); }

  • How to define index by several columns in hibernate entity?

    - by foobar
    Morning. I need to add indexing in hibernate entity. As I know it is possible to do using @Index annotation to specify index for separate column but I need an index for several fields of entity. I've googled and found jboss annotation @Table, that allows to do this (by specification). But (I don't know why) this functionality doesn't work. May be jboss version is lower than necessary, or maybe I don't understant how to use this annotation, but... complex index is not created. Why index may not be created? jboss version 4.2.3.GA Entity example: package somepackage; import org.hibernate.annotations.Index; import javax.persistence.Column; import javax.persistence.Entity; import javax.persistence.GeneratedValue; import javax.persistence.Id; @Entity @org.hibernate.annotations.Table(appliesTo = House.TABLE_NAME, indexes = { @Index(name = "IDX_XDN_DFN", columnNames = {House.XDN, House.DFN} ) } ) public class House { public final static String TABLE_NAME = "house"; public final static String XDN = "xdn"; public final static String DFN = "dfn"; @Id @GeneratedValue private long Id; @Column(name = XDN) private long xdn; @Column(name = DFN) private long dfn; @Column private String address; public long getId() { return Id; } public void setId(long id) { this.Id = id; } public long getXdn() { return xdn; } public void setXdn(long xdn) { this.xdn = xdn; } public long getDfn() { return dfn; } public void setDfn(long dfn) { this.dfn = dfn; } public String getAddress() { return address; } public void setAddress(String address) { this.address = address; } } When jboss/hibernate tries to create table "house" it throws following exception: Reason: org.hibernate.AnnotationException: @org.hibernate.annotations.Table references an unknown table: house

  • Why do my Sax Parser produce no results after using InputStream Read?

    - by Andy Barlow
    Hello, I have this piece of code which I'm hoping will be able to tell me how much data I have downloaded (and soon put it in a progress bar), and then parse the results through my Sax Parser. If I comment out basically everything above the //xr.parse(new InputSource(request.getInputStream())); line and swap the xr.parse's over, it works fine. But at the moment, my Sax parser tells me I have nothing. Is it something to do with is.read (buffer) section? Also, just as a note, request is a HttpURLConnection with various signatures. /*Input stream to read from our connection*/ InputStream is = request.getInputStream(); /*we make a 2 Kb buffer to accelerate the download, instead of reading the file a byte at once*/ byte [ ] buffer = new byte [ 2048 ] ; /*How many bytes do we have already downloaded*/ int totBytes,bytes,sumBytes = 0; totBytes = request.getContentLength () ; while ( true ) { /*How many bytes we got*/ bytes = is.read (buffer); /*If no more byte, we're done with the download*/ if ( bytes <= 0 ) break; sumBytes+= bytes; Log.v("XML", sumBytes + " of " + totBytes + " " + ( ( float ) sumBytes/ ( float ) totBytes ) *100 + "% done" ); } /* Parse the xml-data from our URL. */ // OLD, and works if comment all the above //xr.parse(new InputSource(request.getInputStream())); xr.parse(new InputSource(is)) /* Parsing has finished. */; Can anyone help me at all?? Kind regards, Andy

  • log4j properties file: how to configure ?

    - by EugeneP
    Is it right that the procedure of using log4j looks like this: 1) put a .properties file somewhere in a project folder 2) in an initialization method, that runs only once, invoke PropertyConfigurator.configure("path_to_file"); 3) in every method we need to use logger we define a static logger variable and simply invoke getLogger(class) I'm asking you this: what if the initialization module is not defined? Where to put "log4j.properties" file so that we wouldn't need to invoke propertyconfigurator.configure at all, or if it's not possible, is it ok to invoke PropertyConfigurator.configure("path_to_file") in every method that uses a logger?

  • Slow retrieval of data in SQLITE takes a long using ContentProvider

    - by Arlyn
    I have an application in Android (running 4.0.3) that stores a lot of data in Table A. Table A resides in SQLite Database. I am using a ContentProvider as an abstraction layer above the database. Lots of data here means almost 80,000 records per month. Table A is structured like this: String SQL_CREATE_TABLE = "CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS " + TABLE_A + " ( " + COLUMN_ID + " INTEGER PRIMARY KEY NOT NULL" + "," + COLUMN_GROUPNO + " INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT(0)" + "," + COLUMN_TIMESTAMP + " DATETIME UNIQUE NOT NULL" + "," + COLUMN_TAG + " TEXT" + "," + COLUMN_VALUE + " REAL NOT NULL" + "," + COLUMN_DEVICEID + " TEXT NOT NULL" + "," + COLUMN_NEW + " NUMERIC NOT NULL DEFAULT(1)" + " )"; Here is the index statement: String SQL_CREATE_INDEX_TIMESTAMP = "CREATE INDEX IF NOT EXISTS " + TABLE_A + "_" + COLUMN_TIMESTAMP + " ON " + TABLE_A + " (" + COLUMN_TIMESTAMP + ") "; I have defined the columns as well as the table name as String Constants. I am already experiencing significant slow down when retrieving this data from Table A. The problem is that when I retrieve data from this table, I first put it in an ArrayList and then I display it. Obviously, this is possibly the wrong way of doing things. I am trying to find a better way to approach this problem using a ContentProvider. But this is not the problem that bothers me. The problem is for some reason, it takes a lot longer to retrieve data from other tables which have only upto 12 records maximum. I see this delay increase as the number of records in Table A increase. This does not make any sense. I can understand the delay if I retrieve data from Table A, but why the delay in retrieving data from other tables. To clarify, I do not experience this delay if Table A is empty or has less than 3000 records. What could be the problem?

  • How to manually query LDAP through Acegi's beans?

    - by Veggen Skrikk
    I have an application using Acegi (earlier version of Spring Security) and LDAP for logins. Now, a specific scenario requires me to discover user's LDAP groups at arbitrary time (not at login time). Is it possible to use already set up Acegi to handle this situation? I'm thinking of using the configured LdapAuthProvider (or LdapAuthPopulator or whatever's appropriate) to get all the groups associated with a given username. Is this possible? If yes, please, please, give some hints how it should be done...

  • Strange Exception on getGeneratedKeys() with JDBC for MySQL 5.1

    - by sweeney
    Hello, I'm using JDBC to insert a row into a MYSQL database. I build a parameterized command, execute it and attempt to retrieve the auto generated keys as follows: String sql = "INSERT IGNORE INTO `users` (`email`, `pass-hash`) VALUES (?, ?)"; Connection conn = SQLAccess.getConnection(); PreparedStatement ps = conn.prepareStatement(sql); ps.setString(1, login); ps.setString(2, passHash); int count = ps.executeUpdate(); if (count == 1) { ResultSet rs = ps.getGeneratedKeys(); rs.next(); //some more stuff... } For some reason, I get the following SQLException on the line containing ResultSet rs = ps.getGeneratedKeys();: !Statement.Generated Keys Not Requested! Any thoughts? When I run the same query, as generated by running the app through the debugger, in a MySQL browser it executes without incident. Thanks, brian

  • Creating keystore for jarsigner programmatically

    - by skayred
    I'm trying to generate keystore with certificate to use it with JarSigner. Here is my code: System.out.println("Keystore generation..."); Security.addProvider(new BouncyCastleProvider()); String domainName = "example.org"; KeyPairGenerator keyGen = KeyPairGenerator.getInstance("RSA"); SecureRandom random = SecureRandom.getInstance("SHA1PRNG", "SUN"); keyGen.initialize(1024, random); KeyPair pair = keyGen.generateKeyPair(); X509V3CertificateGenerator v3CertGen = new X509V3CertificateGenerator(); int serial = new SecureRandom().nextInt(); v3CertGen.setSerialNumber(BigInteger.valueOf(serial < 0 ? -1 * serial : serial)); v3CertGen.setIssuerDN(new X509Principal("CN=" + domainName + ", OU=None, O=None L=None, C=None")); v3CertGen.setNotBefore(new Date(System.currentTimeMillis() - 1000L * 60 * 60 * 24 * 30)); v3CertGen.setNotAfter(new Date(System.currentTimeMillis() + (1000L * 60 * 60 * 24 * 365*10))); v3CertGen.setSubjectDN(new X509Principal("CN=" + domainName + ", OU=None, O=None L=None, C=None")); v3CertGen.setPublicKey(pair.getPublic()); v3CertGen.setSignatureAlgorithm("MD5WithRSAEncryption"); X509Certificate PKCertificate = v3CertGen.generateX509Certificate(pair.getPrivate()); FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("/Users/dmitrysavchenko/testCert.cert"); fos.write(PKCertificate.getEncoded()); fos.close(); KeyStore ks = KeyStore.getInstance(KeyStore.getDefaultType()); char[] password = "123".toCharArray(); ks.load(null, password); ks.setCertificateEntry("hive", PKCertificate); fos = new FileOutputStream("/Users/dmitrysavchenko/hive-keystore.pkcs12"); ks.store(fos, password); fos.close(); It works, but when I'm trying to sign my JAR with this keystore, I get the following error: jarsigner: Certificate chain not found for: hive. hive must reference a valid KeyStore key entry containing a private key and corresponding public key certificate chain. I've discovered that there must be a private key, but I don't know how to add it to certificate. Can you help me?

  • How to make Spring accept fluent (non-void) setters?

    - by Chris
    Hi, I have an API which I am turning into an internal DSL. As such, most methods in my PoJos return a reference to this so that I can chain methods together declaratively as such (syntactic sugar). myComponent .setID("MyId") .setProperty("One") .setProperty2("Two") .setAssociation(anotherComponent) .execute(); My API does not depend on Spring but I wish to make it 'Spring-Friendly' by being PoJo friendly with zero argument constructors, getters and setters. The problem is that Spring seems to not detect my setter methods when I have a non-void return type. The return type of this is very convenient when chaining together my commands so I don't want to destroy my programmatic API just be to compatible with Spring injection. Is there a setting in Spring to allow me to use non-void setters? Chris

  • Find location using only distance and range?

    - by pinnacler
    Triangulation works by checking your angle to three KNOWN targets. "I know the that's the Lighthouse of Alexandria, it's located here (X,Y) on a map, and it's to my right at 90 degrees." Repeat 2 more times for different targets and angles. Trilateration works by checking your distance from three KNOWN targets. "I know the that's the Lighthouse of Alexandria, it's located here (X,Y) on a map, and I'm 100 meters away from that." Repeat 2 more times for different targets and ranges. But both of those methods rely on knowing WHAT you're looking at. Say you're in a forest and you can't differentiate between trees, but you know where key trees are. These trees have been hand picked as "landmarks." You have a robot moving through that forest slowly. Do you know of any ways to determine location based solely off of angle and range, exploiting geometry between landmarks? Note, you will see other trees as well, so you won't know which trees are key trees. Ignore the fact that a target may be occluded. Our pre-algorithm takes care of that. 1) If this exists, what's it called? I can't find anything. 2) What do you think the odds are of having two identical location 'hits?' I imagine it's fairly rare. 3) If there are two identical location 'hits,' how can I determine my exact location after I move the robot next. (I assume the chances of having 2 occurrences of EXACT angles in a row, after I reposition the robot, would be statistically impossible, barring a forest growing in rows like corn). Would I just calculate the position again and hope for the best? Or would I somehow incorporate my previous position estimate into my next guess? If this exists, I'd like to read about it, and if not, develop it as a side project. I just don't have time to reinvent the wheel right now, nor have the time to implement this from scratch. So if it doesn't exist, I'll have to figure out another way to localize the robot since that's not the aim of this research, if it does, lets hope it's semi-easy.
