  • Detect click on Triangle and Circle buttons

    - by chr1s89
How can i detect clicks on a texture (will be a button in my game) that has a form of a triangle or circle. I know only the rectangle solution where u can use the positions + the width/height but this dont work for that because clicks will be detected at the transparent pixels. I heard of pixel-perfect collision is it the right way for this? It would be great if someone can give me a example for such a solution or other.

  • A Look at Keyword Search Optimization

With the great influence of the Internet on a growing number of consumers these days, online marketing is now considered one of the best, if not the best, way to promote a business. This strategy offers greater possibilities for a business to be known enough to generate increasing revenues. Pinpointing the exact right techniques, however, will take some brainstorming which could be a critical stage because it requires a lot of time for marketers to determine on which tricks are, indeed, going to work and which will be a waste of time.

  • What are invariants, how can they be used, and have you ever used it in your program?

    - by gablin
I'm reading Coders at Work, and in it there's a lot of talk about invariants. As far as I've understood it, an invariant is a condition which holds both before and after an expression. They're, among other things, useful in proving that loop is correct, if I remember my Logic course correctly. Is my description correct, or have I missed something? Have you ever used them in your program? And if so, how did they benefit?

  • Do you I think I should integrate something like AWS or other cloud service from the initial phases of my project?

    - by Kareem Ergawy
Do you I think I should integrate something like AWS or other cloud service from the initial phases of my project or I should be working on the front and back end components regularly and integrate AWS later? I am starting to work on a mobile service. From day one, I wish to make sure that my service will be scalable and able to handle large loads of requests. This is my first time in architecting a large scale system from the beginning so I can't decide what is best.

  • SEO Secrets an SEO Specialist Won't Want You to Know About

The market place for self claimed 'SEO secrets' is littered with shoddy SEO specialists and cowboys trying to push the common information available to anyone with a computer, internet connection, and a search engine. Here's the breaking news people - there is no secret email that Google sends out to these SEO specialists, and they don't keep a stack of top secret documents back just for the lucky few. • Watch syntax help

    - by Jason
In my Systems Programming class, there are weekly programming experiments, and I'm having trouble with the current one. The objective is to write a C program that slowly writes a string of text to a file, metered by usleep() in a 100 count for loop. The goal of the experiment is to observe the file size buffer in action via the watch command. However, I can't get it to work using watch -d ./output What syntax do I need for the watch command to see the changes made to the file size?

  • How to model a system to help my team grasp the project's bigger picture? [closed]

    - by user1796528
According to the software engineering point of view, I should model the system to make it easier for other people to understand well what they work on. To do so, I have used the Dia drawing program. But, after having used Dia for some time, I find that it falls short in helping me to correctly and efficiently model my project. How do you usually tackle this problem (modelling a project in the large) and what tools would you recommend for the job, and why?

  • Convert video files for home IIS server [closed]

    - by Jey
I am finally learning to set up an IIS server (personal use only) and I thought it would be cool to have some videos on it for me to watch when I am away from home. Since I'm usually on 3G (iPhone) or work wifi, I'd like to convert them to an optimal format that will stream fast. The video files are mostly avi and mp4 (from 30 minutes to 2 hours in length). What would be an easy and fast way to go about doing this? Thanks.

  • Window indicators

<b>Mark Shuttleworth:</b> "The Ayatana Indicators work has given us a crisp, clean basis for indicators in the panel. We've said they will all look a particular way, and behave a particular way. And we've said they will be placed on the right of the panel. But why limit indicators to the panel? Let's make it possible for applications to use indicators themselves, for all the things that indicators are good at:"

  • How to setup debian/control to force updating a library?

    - by LovinBuntu
This question is aimed at PPA/packages maintainers. I have a PPA with 2 packages: mypackage (currently version 1~ppa1~quantal) mypackagelib (currently version 1~ppa1~quantal) Currently, the control file of mypackage has: Depends: mypackagelib I want to update the 2 packages to version '2' (mypackage version 2 and mypackagelib version 2). How can I make sure that the 2 packages will be updated when the user updates 'mypackage' ? FYI, changing the 'Depends' field to: Depends: mypackagelib (>= 2) does NOT work, and returns the following error: mypackage : Depends: mypackagelib (>= 2) but mypackagelib-2~ppa1~quantal is to be installed

  • Branching strategy for parallel development that won't be in the same release?

    - by Telastyn
My team is working on a product, which for business reasons needs to be released on a regular schedule. An issue has arisen where we want to do development in parallel for the upcoming release, as well as the 'next' release. This is to become standard practice, so it's not as straightforward as cutting a feature branch for the new work. We'll continually have 2+ teams working on different releases of the same product. Is there an SCM best practice for this sort of arrangement?

  • Why do programs take more than 2 seconds to load on my Ubuntu 12.04?

    - by Gaige
Here's a description of my build (simple) Processor: AMD Phenom II x6 1090t Ram: 16gb 1333 mhz Board: TA990FXE Video Card : HD 6870 HDD Ubuntu is installed on: 320gb caviar blue 7200rpm That should be sufficient enough to diagnose this. Yes I did install the AMD video drivers recommended by Ubuntu. Programs take 2+ seconds to load, and I really don't tolerate that...Windows 7 loads programs as fast as my hdd allows Unless this is how Ubuntu is meant to work...then I'll just go back to Debian command-line.

  • Unity3d and Windows 8 run game in frame

    - by floAr
How do I set Unity3D to run my game on Windows 8 in a fixed size frame (with a border around it) and not in fullscreen? I tried setting this in the Unity script and in the final C# project, but nothings seems to work. I have set the players resolution to 1366x786 (the desired size) and while this works fine with the webplayer the windows 8 solution seems really unimpressed by it. I also tinkered with the 'Default Is Full Screen' option
