  • JavaDB connection error (network protocol)

    - by oO
I'm trying to connect to derby using this: dbProperties.put("create", "true"); dbProperties.put("dataEncryption", "true"); dbProperties.put("encryptionAlgorithm", "DES/CBC/NoPadding"); dbProperties.put("encryptionKey", "1234567890123456"); dbProperties.put("securityMechanism", ClientDataSource.STRONG_PASSWORD_SUBSTITUTE_SECURITY); // protocol is dbProperties.getProperty("derby.url", "jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/"); dbConnection = DriverManager.getConnection(protocol + dbName, dbProperties); but i get an error: A connection could not be established because the database name (...) is larger than the maximum length allowed by the network protocol. Is there a way to increase this length?

  • Overwrite HTTP method with JAX-RS

    - by deamon
Today's browsers (or HTML < 5) only support HTTP GET and POST, but to communicate RESTful one need PUT and DELETE too. If the workaround should not be to use Ajax, something like a hidden form field is required to overwrite the actual HTTP method. Rails uses the following trick: <input name="_method" type="hidden" value="put" /> Is there a possibility to do something similar with JAX-RS?

  • How to check all check boxes at a click of a button

    - by LivingThing
I am new to Swing, UI and MVC I have created a code based on MVC. Now my problem is that that in the controller part i have an actioneventlistener which listens to different button clicks. Out of all those buttons i have "select all" and "de-select all". In my view i have a table, one of the column of that table contains "check boxes". Now, when i click the "select-all" button i want to check all the check boxes and with "de-select all" i want to uncheck all of them. Below is my code which is not working. Please tell me what am i doing wrong here. Also, if someone knows a more elagent way please share. Thanks In my view public class CustomerSelectorDialogUI extends JFrame{ public CustomerSelectorDialogUI(TestApplicationUI ownerView, DummyCustomerStore dCStore, boolean modality) { //super(ownerView, modality); setTitle("[=] Customer Selection Dialog [=]"); //setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE); custSelectPanel = new JPanel(); buttonPanel = new JPanel(); selectAllButton = new JButton(" Select All "); clearAllButton = new JButton(" Clear All "); applyButton = new JButton(" Apply "); cancelButton = new JButton(" Cancel "); PopulateAndShow(dCStore, Boolean.FALSE); } public void PopulateAndShow(DummyCustomerStore dCStore, Boolean select) { List data = new ArrayList(); for (Customer customer : dCStore.getAllCustomers()) { Object record[] = new Object[COLUMN_COUNT]; record[0] = (select == false) ? • Slow retrieval of data in SQLITE takes a long using ContentProvider

    - by Arlyn
I have an application in Android (running 4.0.3) that stores a lot of data in Table A. Table A resides in SQLite Database. I am using a ContentProvider as an abstraction layer above the database. Lots of data here means almost 80,000 records per month. Table A is structured like this: String SQL_CREATE_TABLE = "CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS " + TABLE_A + " ( " + COLUMN_ID + " INTEGER PRIMARY KEY NOT NULL" + "," + COLUMN_GROUPNO + " INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT(0)" + "," + COLUMN_TIMESTAMP + " DATETIME UNIQUE NOT NULL" + "," + COLUMN_TAG + " TEXT" + "," + COLUMN_VALUE + " REAL NOT NULL" + "," + COLUMN_DEVICEID + " TEXT NOT NULL" + "," + COLUMN_NEW + " NUMERIC NOT NULL DEFAULT(1)" + " )"; Here is the index statement: String SQL_CREATE_INDEX_TIMESTAMP = "CREATE INDEX IF NOT EXISTS " + TABLE_A + "_" + COLUMN_TIMESTAMP + " ON " + TABLE_A + " (" + COLUMN_TIMESTAMP + ") "; I have defined the columns as well as the table name as String Constants. I am already experiencing significant slow down when retrieving this data from Table A. The problem is that when I retrieve data from this table, I first put it in an ArrayList and then I display it. Obviously, this is possibly the wrong way of doing things. I am trying to find a better way to approach this problem using a ContentProvider. But this is not the problem that bothers me. The problem is for some reason, it takes a lot longer to retrieve data from other tables which have only upto 12 records maximum. I see this delay increase as the number of records in Table A increase. This does not make any sense. I can understand the delay if I retrieve data from Table A, but why the delay in retrieving data from other tables. To clarify, I do not experience this delay if Table A is empty or has less than 3000 records. What could be the problem?

  • Drawing star shapes with variable parameters

    - by owca
    Hi. I have task to write program allowing users to draw stars, which can differ in size and amount of arms. When I was dealing with basic stars I was doing it with GeneralPath and tables of points : int xPoints[] = { 55, 67, 109, 73, 83, 55, 27, 37, 1, 43 }; int yPoints[] = { 0, 36, 36, 54, 96, 72, 96, 54, 36, 36 }; Graphics2D g2d = ( Graphics2D ) g; GeneralPath star = new GeneralPath(); star.moveTo( xPoints[ 0 ], yPoints[ 0 ] ); for ( int k = 1; k < xPoints.length; k++ ) star.lineTo( xPoints[ k ], yPoints[ k ] ); star.closePath(); g2d.fill( star ); What method should I choose for drawing stars with variable inner and outer radius, as well as different amount of arms ? This is what I should obtain :

  • How do I share a Hibernate SessionFactory across web applications?

    - by Jer
I have two web applications that are running on a single Tomcat server and are connected to the same database with Hibernate. I am concerned that having two SessionFactory instances running around might cause some issues. Also, since both web applications share much of the same application logic, I thought it would be a good idea to centralize as much as I could. And since I use Spring for DI and Hibernate configuration it would make sense to have a single ApplicationContext as well. How would I go about doing something like this? Do I need to deploy a headless WAR that creates an ApplicationContext and thus a SessionFactory and allow each application access to it? Is this even a good idea?

I have two buttons "add Row", "Del Row" and I have some records displayed from db. when ever "add row" is clicked a new record, row header should be added to JTable with an auto increment number displayed in sequential order to the JTable Row Header. During deletion using "Del row " button the record has to be deleted & not its corresponding header so that next rows got updated to the previous headers & the auto increment number remain unchanged and always be in sequence. please help me on this regard. • Remove Duplicates from List of HashMap Entries

    - by HonorGod
I have a List<HashMap<String,Object>> which represents a database where each list record is a database row. I have 10 columns in my database. There are several rows where the values of 2 particular columns are equals. I need to remove the duplicates from the list after the list is updated with all the rows from database. What is the efficient way? FYI - I am not able to do distinct while querying the database, because the GroupName is added at a later stage to the Map after the database is loaded. And since Id column is not primary key, once you add GroupName to the Map. You will have duplicates based on Id + GroupName combination! Hope my question makes sense. Let me know if we need more clarification.

  • Where did this class come from?

    - by Karl
How would you go about establishing where a class ( or maybe resource ) has been loaded from? I am trying to work out exactly where a class has been loaded from. Does anyone know if you can find out the following: Which Jar file did the class come from ? What classloader loaded the file?

  • How to prevent popups when loading a keystore

    - by Newtopian
Hi as corollary to this question I wanted to ask if you know how to prevent the poping of dialogue either to ask for password or to ask to insert a certificate. We are currently building a system where we have to use the windows keystore to get certificates that are stored on USB token containing both reader and certificate. Unlike the original question we do not experience problems when loading the keystore but when we are accessing it. If there is only a single certificate in the keystore no problem, we get the appropriate password popup at the appropriate time and that's it. However if a second USB key gets inserted in the system and later removed the entry remains in the keystore and from then-on every time we try to access information in the keystore we get a popup to insert the key. This occurs for every certificates in the store for which the key is not currently connected to the computer. The system we are interfacing with that requires these certificates necessitates that we perform multiple cryptographic operations and to have these popups to come up every times is rather annoying to say the least.

  • Why a "private static" is not seen in a method?

    - by Roman
I have a class with the following declaration of the fields: public class Game { private static String outputFileName; .... } I set the value of the outputFileName in the main method of the class. I also have a write method in the class which use the outputFileName. I always call write after main sets value for outputFileName. But write still does not see the value of the outputFileName. It say that it's equal to null. Could anybody, pleas, tell me what I am doing wrong? ADDED As it is requested I post more code: In the main: String outputFileName = userName + "_" + year + "_" + month + "_" + day + "_" + hour + "_" + minute + "_" + second + "_" + millis + ".txt"; f=new File(outputFileName); if(!f.exists()){ try { f.createNewFile(); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } System.out.println("IN THE MAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"); System.out.println("------>" + outputFileName + "<------"); This line outputs me the name of the file. Than in the write I have: public static void write(String output) { // Open a file for appending. System.out.println("==========>" + outputFileName + "<============"); ...... } And it outputs null.

  • Can someone explain the ivy.xml dependency's conf attribute?

    - by tieTYT
I can't find any thorough explanation of the ivy dependency tag's conf attribute: <dependency org="hibernate" name="hibernate" rev="3.1.3" conf="runtime, standalone -> runtime(*)"/> See that conf attribute? I can't find any explanation (that I can understand) about the right hand side of the - symbol. PLEASE keep in mind I don't know the first thing about maven so please explain this attribute with that consideration. Yes, I've already looked at this: http://ant.apache.org/ivy/history/latest-release/ivyfile/dependency.html Thanks, Dan

  • Interrupt an Http Request blocked in read() on Android

    - by twk
Using the Apache Http stack on Android, I'm trying to force a thread out of a call to read. This is what the stack looks like: OSNetworkSystem.receiveStreamImpl(FileDescriptor, byte[], int, int, int) line: not available [native method] OSNetworkSystem.receiveStream(FileDescriptor, byte[], int, int, int) line: 478 PlainSocketImpl.read(byte[], int, int) line: 565 SocketInputStream.read(byte[], int, int) line: 87 SocketInputBuffer(AbstractSessionInputBuffer).fillBuffer() line: 103 SocketInputBuffer(AbstractSessionInputBuffer).read(byte[], int, int) line: 134 IdentityInputStream.read(byte[], int, int) line: 86 EofSensorInputStream.read(byte[], int, int) line: 159 Fetcher.readStream() line: 89 I've tried InputStream.close(), Thread.Interrupt(), and HttpUriRequest.abort(), without any success. Any ideas? I'm also open to some kind of non-blocking IO, but I don't see any way to do that with the HttpUriRequest object. Thanks!

  • Progress Dialog in Android doesn't Show?

    - by Tyler
Okay.. I am doing something similar to the below: private void onCreate() { final ProgressDialog dialog = ProgressDialog.show(this, "Please wait..", "Doing stuff..", true); Thread t = new Thread() { public void run() { //do some serious stuff... dialog.dismiss(); } }; t.start(); t.join(); stepTwo(); } However, what I am finding is that my progress dialog never even shows up. My App stalls for a moment so I know it is chugging along inside of thread t, but why doesnt my dialog appear? IF I remove the line: t.join(); Then what I find happens is that the progress dialog does show up, but my app starts stepTwo(); before what happens in the thread is complete.. Any ideas?

  • Servlet requests are executed sequentially for no apparent reason in Glassfish v3

    - by Fabien Benoit
Hi, I'm using Glassfish 3 Web profile and can't get http workers to execute concurrently requests on a servlet. This is how i observed the problem. I've made a very simple servlet, that writes the current thread name to the standard output and sleep for 10 seconds : protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { System.out.println(Thread.currentThread().getName()); try { Thread.sleep(10000); // 10 sec } catch (InterruptedException ex) {} } } And when i'm running several simultaneous requests, I clearly see in the logs that the requests are sequentially executed (one trace every 10 seconds). INFO: http-thread-pool-8080-(2) (10 seconds later...) INFO: http-thread-pool-8080-(1) (10 seconds later...) INFO: http-thread-pool-8080-(2) etc. All my GF settings are untouched - it's the out-of-the-box config (the default thread pool is 2 threads min, 5 max if I recall properly). ...I really don't understand why the sleep() block all the others worker threads. Any insight would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks, Fabien

  • Test problem using JUnitPerf

    - by allenzzzxd
Hi, guys, I'm writing a JUnit test using JUnitPerf. Here, I want to generate some entries and use them to update a database. To test the capacity of the database, I want several test to run simultaneously or randomly, so I use, for example: Test loadTest = new LoadTest(testCase, n); But, still, I have to insure that in each test, a different update source will be used so that a different entry in the database will be updated. So my question is how can I realize this? Thanks a lot Allen

  • Invoke a subclass method of an anonymous class

    - by arjacsoh
I am trying right now to dig into anonymous classes and one question was just arised I 'd prefer not to refer to much details and to pose my question straightforward: How can I invoke the method sizzle() in the following anonymous class: public class Popcorn { public void pop() { System.out.println("popcorn"); } } class Food { Popcorn p = new Popcorn() { public void sizzle() { System.out.println("anonymous sizzling popcorn"); } public void pop() { System.out.println("anonymous popcorn"); } }; public void popIt() { p.pop(); // OK, Popcorn has a pop() method p.sizzle(); // Not Legal! Popcorn does not have sizzle() } } It is known and definite in polymorphism rules that a refernce of a superclass cannot invoke methods of subclass without downcasting (even if it refers to an object of the given subclass). However in the above case what is the "key" to invoke the sizzle() method?

  • The fastest way to do a collection subtraction

    - by Tony
    I have two Sets. Set<B> b is the subset of Set<A> a. they're both very huge Sets. I want to subtract b from a , what's the best practice to do this common operation ? I've written to many codes like this , and I don't think it's efficient. what's your idea ? for(int i = 0 ; i < a.size(); i++) { for (int j=0 ; j < b.size() ;j++) { // do comparison , if found equals ,remove from a break; } } And I want to find an algorithm , not only applies to Sets, also works for Array.

  • log4j properties file: how to configure ?

    - by EugeneP
Is it right that the procedure of using log4j looks like this: 1) put a .properties file somewhere in a project folder 2) in an initialization method, that runs only once, invoke PropertyConfigurator.configure("path_to_file"); 3) in every method we need to use logger we define a static logger variable and simply invoke getLogger(class) I'm asking you this: what if the initialization module is not defined? Where to put "log4j.properties" file so that we wouldn't need to invoke propertyconfigurator.configure at all, or if it's not possible, is it ok to invoke PropertyConfigurator.configure("path_to_file") in every method that uses a logger?
