There is a lot of confusion over the building of a first website. It does not have to be this way, everything can be straightforward and implemented fairly easily. It is just a case of knowing what to do first.
In the last article of the series, you will learn how to manage your reports once you've finished development, including how to use the Report Manager, deploy reports, and send reports to the appropriate end users.

Internet website owners realize that web site traffic is critical if they would like their business to be fruitful. Without web site traffic your website will not endure. To improve traffic to your site you should add comments on blogs that are in your niche. Your observations should incorporate quality material that other people will find useful.
Going virtual isn't going to make your life easier overnight; but even if it does introduce its own challenges, the benefits outweigh the outweigh the learning curve and shift in admin focus.
I’ve been running SQLBits for 5 years and have always had a desire to make the SQL community better. I’ve often thought about running for the board but have never stood up Just over a year ago I was at a meeting with some SQL leaders about growing PASS globally. At that meeting a friend of offered to help the board from an international perspective. I thought he was mad. James runs his own business, has been managing the sponsors for SQLBits and has 3 kids to look after, no way would he have the...(read more)
I am always conscious to keep a record of all operations performed on my database servers. Operations through T-SQL in an SSMS query pane can easily be saved in query files. For table modifications through SSMS designer I have predefined setting to generate T-SQL scripts. However there are numerous database and server level tasks that I use the SSMS GUI and I would like to have a script of these changes for later reference. Examples of such actions through the SSMS GUI are backup/restore, changing compatibility level of a database, manipulating permissions, dealing with database or log files or creating/manipulating any login/user. I am looking for any way to generate T-SQL code for such actions, so that it may be kept for later reference
I'd like to re-open the question from link below, where several packages were suggested besides Ninite.com such as allmyapps.com.
Package managers for Windows
What I'd like to know is if they are all to be trusted to install in Windows 7 (64bit) so that the manager:
Installs the latest version of software.
Supports 64 bit installs where possible.
Strips ads/toolbars/similar stuff.
The later two points from previous questions are good but not a priority in the preparation of a clean install
Provides a way to keep the programs updated after installation.
If I can add custom installers to the software, that's a big plus.
I am more concerned here about using a legitimate application I can trust to establish the basis of clean image of my operating system with all the application of choice installed without fuss and spam/bloatware.
<b>Linux Tech.net:</b> "Uoti Urpala, one of the core developers of mplayer, maintains a forked branch of mplayer that contains a lot of interesting patches that are not (yet) included in the main svn repository"
In the coming months we're going to begin a project where we take a system we've built for a client (v1) and rebuild it from scratch. Our goal with v2 is to make it modular, so that this specific client will have their own set of modules they use, then another client may use a different set of modules altogether. The trick here is that Company A might have a series of checkout and user modules that change how that system works. Company B might stick with the standard checkout procedure but customize how products are browsed.
What are some good approaches to application architecture when you're building an application from scratch that you want to have a Core that's shared among all clients while still maintaining the flexability for anything to be modified specifically for a client?
I've seen CodeIgniter's hooks and don't think that's a good solution as we could end up with 250 hooks and it's still not flexible enough. What are some other solutions? Ideally we won't need to draw a line in the sand.
Before we start talking about building links to improve Google PageRank, let's clear up any confusion - PageRank is a calculation of Google's estimate of the importance of a page, but it is not the same as where your page "ranks" in the organic results. It can be very confusing since the words are so similar. Try thinking of it this way: a page can rank in any of the search engines, but you can only have PageRank in Google.
Tables that log a record of what happens in an application can get very large, easpecially if they're growing by half a billion rows a day. You'll very soon need to devise a scheduled routine to remove old records, but the DELETE statement just isn't a realistic option with that volume of data. Hugo Kornelis explains a pain-free technique for SQL Server.

I'd like to make it Ctrl-Shift-F to match Visual Studio.
I realize to do that I need to remove that binding from the Query-Save to File item.
But, I can't even add ANY shortcut. When I pull up the Tools/Customize box, pick Edit in the Categories and then Find-in-Files in the Commands, the box for "Modify Selection", where I assume I could add a shortcut, is greyed out.
Any clues?
As responsibilities are growing every day, a DBA or developer needs to improve his/her productivity. One way to do this is to use as many shortcuts as possible instead of using your mouse and the menus. In this tip we take a look at common tasks you may perform when using SSMS and the associated shortcut keys.

Bad publicity is just a reality of doing business these days, especially for any company that is even moderately in the public eye. With hundreds of television channels, a print media network larger than the entire European Union and the Internet, negative comments are hurled at everyone from the Pope to Oprah.
I have an Domain account with admin priviliges and I need to use that account to run the Hyper-v Machine Management Service. my goal is to use that domain account to create VMs using ISO files that are in a different server within the same domain. I was told that if I use the local account to do this things may not work.
How do I run the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management Service under a domain account?
A newbee question: Connect to SSIS from within Management Studio?
I have a running service named: Integration Services 10.0, but from within Management Studio, I don't know how to connect to it, it doesn't appear under the connect button.
Tx.
