    I am not sure am I doing these correct. I have 3 models, Account, User, and Event. Account contains a group of Users. Each User have its own username and password for login, but they can access the same Account data under the same Account. Events is create by a User, which other Users in the same Account can also read or edit it. I created the following migrations and models.   • Git pull: error: Entry foo not uptodate. Cannot merge.

    I'm trying to update my repo from a remote branch and keep getting this error when I do a "git pull". I haven't made any local changes, and even if I have I don't need to keep them. I've tried: git reset --hard and I get the same problem The only thing that seems to work is deleting the offending file and try a git pull again. I've also tried "git stash" followed by a "git pull". No go. edit: using PortableGit-1.6.4-preview20090729 so any previous bugs with spurious errors should be fixed.

  • Generic type parameter naming convention for Java (with multiple chars)?

    In some interfaces i wrote I'd like to name generic type parameter with more than one character to make the code more readable. Something like.... Map<Key,Value> Instead of this... Map<K,V> But when it comes to methods, the type-parameters look like java-classes which is also confusing. public void put(Key key, Value value) This seems like Key and Value are classes. I found or thought of some notations, but nothing like a convention from sun or a general best-practice. Alternatives i guesed of or found... Map<KEY,VALUE> Map<TKey,TValue>

  • How do you get and set a class property across multiple functions in Objective-C?

    Following up on this question about sharing objects between classes, I now need to figure out how to share the objects across various functions in a class. First, the setup: In my App Delegate I load menu information from JSON into a NSMutableDictionary and message that through to a view controller using a function called initWithData. I need to use this dictionary to populate a new Table View, which has methods like numberOfRowsInSection and cellForRowAtIndexPath. I'd like to use the dictionary count to return numberOfRowsInSection and info in the dictionary to populate each cell. Unfortunately, my code never gets beyond the init stage and the dictionary is empty so numberOfRowsInSection always returns zero. I thought I could create a class property, synthesize it and then set it. But it doesn't seem to want to retain the property's value. What am I doing wrong here?   • One controller with multiple models? Am I doing this correctly?

    My web app, up until this point, has been fairly straight forward. I have Users, Contacts, Appointments and a few other things to manage. All of these are easy - it's just one model per section so I just did a scaffold for each, then modified the scaffolded code to fit my need. Pretty easy... Unfortunately I am having a problem on this next section because I want the 'Financials' section of my app to be more in depth than the other sections which I simply scaffolded. For example, when the user clicks the 'Contacts' link on the navigation bar, it just shows a list of contacts, pretty straight forward and is in line with the scaffold. However, when the user clicks the 'Financials' link on the navigation bar, I want to show the bank accounts on the left of the page and a few of the transactions on the right. So the financials tab will basically work with data from two models: transactions and bank_accounts. I think I should make the models (transactions & bank_accounts) and then make a controller called Financials, then I can query the models from the Financials controller and display the pages in app/views/financials/ Am I correct in this app layout? I have never worked with more than the basics of scaffolding so I want to ensure I get this right! Thank you!

    What is wrong with this statement? It works with sqlite and MS sql (last time i tested it) I would like a select unless there is no match with name or email. Then i would like to insert. I have it as one statement because its easy to keep concurrent safe as one statement. (its not that complex of a statement). INSERT INTO `user_data` ( `last_login_ip`, `login_date`, ...)   • Nvidia drivers don't work with mainline kernel

    I want to try some of the new features in the btrfs filesystem, and to do that I need to use a newer kernel than is included in Ubuntu 12.04. To do that, I have installed linux-headers-3.4.0-030400_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_all.deb, linux-headers-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb, and linux-image-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb from the mainline kernel download here. However, on rebooting into the 3.4 kernel, my desktop is stuck at a very low resolution and I cannot increase it to the full. This did happen when I first installed, but a simple install of the nvidia-current package got everything working nicely with my GTX570 card.     Every few seconds our new Cisco ASA 5505 firewall is logging errors that I can't figure out with my limited Cisco experience. ICMP Type 3 Code 3 means "Port Unreachable" Our "outside" interface has a fixed IP and our "inside" interface is in the 10.10.0.0/16 subnet. The 'Inspect DNS' Service Policy is enabled, with the preset DNS inspection map. Furthermore there's an ACL that allows all inbound ICMP on the "outside" interface. I've spent hours trying to figure this one out, so any and all advice is welcome!
