  • Make fails compiling GCC

    I'm trying to Linux From Scratch, I'm compiling GCC. I get this error: In file included from /usr/include/stdio.h:28:0, from ../.././gcc-4.7.0/libgcc/../gcc/tsystem.h:88, from ../.././gcc-4.7.0/libgcc/libgcc2.c:29: /usr/include/features.h:324:26: fatal error: bits/predefs.h: No such file or directory compilation terminated. I don't know how to fix this. I'm using GCC version 4.7.0 Anyone knows how to fix this?

  • reboot on kernel panic and drac

    Does anyone know if it is possible to have a DRAC5 make a screenshot of the console when Linux reboots (automatically) due to a kernel panic? Our current system doesn't reboot automatically when it panics, so we can manually make a screenshot using the DRAC when it crashes. However, I'd like to configure it so it will reboot automatically when a panic happens, but still be able to log the cause of the crash.

  • Fedora 8 upgrade PHP > 5.2.4

    One of my current company servers is using old Fedora 8 and web apps compatible with PHP 5.2.x. Currently the PHP version is 5.2.4. I would like to upgrade it minimum 5.2.5 so that Drupal-7 can be installed on that machine. The problem is, there are no more repository for Fedora 8, and maybe here someone could help. I can't risk upgrading the OS since I'm not linux expert, and if anything goes wrong I could be in trouble. thanks

    Concerning the Netcat/Socat utility . From the man page, it seems like it is possible to create a secure proxy using netcat by which I could point my web browser to like a proxy server , that could fork/drive my web traffic through the proxy. It somehow assumes i'm on an real machine rather on a SSH shell. How can i solve this?

My main goal is to be able to access a password keyring through an SSH connection to a machine that has no graphical user interface. If there are no good unix password keyrings out there, what would be a better way to store personal passwords in a central location?

    Hey there, I'm running into an apache mod_rewrite configuration issue on one of our machines. Has anyone encountered / overcome anyone of these issues. URL1 ( http://www.uppereast.com ) is not being redirected to URL2 ( http://www.nyclocalliving.com ). This definitely worked in my test environment where a localhost address was rewritten to URL2 ( RewriteRule ^http://upe.localhost$ http://www.nyclocalliving.com ). I'm trying to get the all of the redirect rules working ( 2200 + ), but the 'http://www.nyclocalliving.com' site encounters a server error if I use more that 1000 or more rules. I don't want to install cygwin because it takes lot of space. Moreover, I need to make it communicate with a rsync daemon on Linux, therefore alternatives to rsync on windows won't help. Thanks

Is there some specification about how FTP servers should handle this, or is it OS or implementation dependent? vsftpd on Linux seems to overwrite, with FileZilla on Vista I get 550 file exists...

  • Can I create directories that don't exist while creating a new file in emacs?

    In emacs, I create a file by visiting it with C-x C-f. Let's say I'd like to create /home/myself/new_directory/file.txt. If new_directory does not exist yet, is there a way to have it get created during the creation of file.txt without any extra steps? (I'm thinking of something like using the -p flag to mkdir in Linux.) I feel like there's a different keystroke instead of C-x C-f that can do this, but I can't remember what it is.
