• Wordpress Database SQL query help needed

  Hi, I've written a PHP script to access the latest item from the wordpress database, which it does. But I need to use it twice, once for the latest item from a specific category, and another from a differerent category... But right now I cannot figure out how to put the query together. The post has a post_parent, which in another table, called wp_term_relationships, is referred to as object_id, and has a term_taxonomy_id, which then relates to a different table, called wp_terms where the term_taxonomy_id is now term_id and then you have the category slug name available to select... I really cannot understand how this query would work though. I've made a really crap mock up of it, to try to "visually" explain what i'm trying to do... SELECT * FROM wp_posts WHERE post_status = 'publish' AND (SELECT term_taxonomy_id FROM wp_term_relationships WHERE object_id = post_parent) AND (SELECT slug FROM wp_terms WHERE term_id = term_taxonomy_id) ORDER BY ID DESC LIMIT 1 Really would appreciate some help... • Bash or python for changing spacing in files

  Hi, I have a set of 10000 files. In all of them, the second line, looks like: AAA 3.429 3.84 so there is just one space (requirement) between AAA and the two other columns. The rest of lines on each file are completely different and correspond to 10 columns of numbers. Randomly, in around 20% of the files, and due to some errors, one gets BBB 3.429 3.84 so now there are two spaces between the first and second column. This is a big error so I need to fix it, changing from 2 to 1 space in the files where the error takes place. The first approach I thought of was to write a bash script that for each file reads the 3 values of the second line and then prints them with just one space, doing it for all the files. I wonder what do oyu think about this approach and if you could suggest something better, bashm python or someother approach. Thanks

• window.onbeforeunload ajax request problem with Chrome

  Hello, I have a web page that handles remote control of a machine through Ajax. When user navigate away from the page, I'd like to automatically disconnect from the machine. So here is the code: window.onbeforeunload = function () { bas_disconnect_only(); } The disconnection function simply send a HTTP GET request to a PHP server side script, which does the actual work of disconnecting: function bas_disconnect_only() { var xhr = bas_send_request("req=10", function() { } ); } This works fine in FireFox. But with Chrome, the ajax request is not sent at all. There is a unacceptable workaround: adding alert to the callback function: function bas_disconnect_only() { var xhr = bas_send_request("req=10", function() { alert("You're been automatically disconnected."); } ); } After adding the alert call, the request would be sent successfully. But as you can see, it's not really a work around at all. Could somebody tell me if this is achievable with Chrome? What I'm doing looks completely legit to me. Thanks,

• Using new Image().src for click tracking

  I am attempting to figure out why this click tracker isn't working. The code was written by another developer so I am not entirely sure if this ever did work. function trackSponsor(o, p) { (new Image()).src = PATH_BASE + 'click/' + p + '/' + o + "?_cache=" + (+(new Date())); return false; } From what I can gather is that when this function is called it 'creates a new image' to fire a php script asynchronously. According to Firebug, the request is made however it is 'aborted' ~30ms in. The odd thing is that it will 'sometimes' work as in 1 in every 10+ regardless of the browser. I would much rather fix this so that it works instead of re-writing it as an ajax request. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  I am looking at developing an AI player for a simple game I have created in C#. I will be creating a population of the bots and evolving them over generations. What I was wondering is there any frameworks out there that could be good for this sort of testing / development. Ideally I would like something that I could plug any / some type of games into and say, OK so have a population of X run it over Y generations and chart the results for me. I was having a think about how I would create something that would do this for me and allow me to reuse this later for different AI projects and all I could think of was to have some sort of core code and some interface contracts that the game and AI would use so that the server can script it. What are your thoughts, does anyone have any practical experience of this sort of thing?

I tried searching for tutorials to dynamically build hashes, but all I could find were introductory articles about hashes. I would be grateful if you point me towards the right direction or suggest a nice article/tutorial. • Why does this regular expression fail?

  I have a password validation script in PHP that checks a few different regular expressions, and throws a unique error message depending on which one fails. Here is an array of the regular expressions and the error messages that are thrown if the match fails: array( 'rule1' => array( '/^.*[\d].*$/i', 'Password must contain at least one number.' ), 'rule2' => array( '/^.*[a-z].*$/i', 'Password must contain at least one lowercase letter' ), 'rule3' => array( '/^.*[A-Z].*$/i', 'Password must contain at least one uppercase letter' ), 'rule4' => array( '/^.*[~!@#$%^&*()_+=].*$/i', 'Password must contain at least one special character [~!@#$%^&*()_+=]' ) ); For some reason, no matter what I pass through the validation, the "Special Characters" rule fails. I'm guessing it's a problem with the expression. If there's a better (or correct) way to write these expressions, I'm all ears!

  I am writing a program that is cross platform. There are a few spots where I have to specify an operating system dependent call. #ifdef WINDOWS ..do windows only stuff #endif #ifdef LINUX ..do linux only stuff #endif Are there any preprocesser directives that get defined by the compiler so I don't have to explicitly define them when I use the command line compiler. ie. cl -DWINDOWS program.cpp or g++ -DLINUX program.cpp I realize I could easily write a makefile or have a shell/batch script that will do this automatically. But I would prefer to use the same ones as the compiler (if they exist) by default.

  Greetings all, I would very much like to determine the IP# of a domain from client script. It's for use in a testing application to determine whether or not a certain domain is set to a QA address as opposed to the address live on the . The testing machine will have it's host file set to resolve a domain to the QA address. Pinging from the server won't help since the server is getting the public DNS address. Is this possible in JavaScript? Maybe a Flash could do the trick?

• Best way to store data for Greasemonkey based crawler?

  I want to crawl a site with Greasemonkey and wonder if there is a better way to temporarily store values than with GM_setValue. What I want to do is crawl my contacts in a social network and extract the Twitter URLs from their profile pages. My current plan is to open each profile in it's own tab, so that it looks more like a normal browsing person (ie css, scrits and images will be loaded by the browser). Then store the Twitter URL with GM_setValue. Once all profile pages have been crawled, create a page using the stored values. I am not so happy with the storage option, though. Maybe there is a better way? I have considered inserting the user profiles into the current page so that I could all process them with the same script instance, but I am not sure if XMLHttpRequest looks indistignuishable from normal user initiated requests.

  Hi, I have a GridView and I need update some data inserting HTML CODE; I would need this data been stored encoded and decoded on request. I cannot in any way disable globally "Request Validation" and not even at Page Level, so I would need a solution to disable "Request Validation" at Control Level. At the moment I am using a script which should Html.Encode every value being update, butt seems that "Request Validation" start its job before event RowUpdating, so I get the Error "Page A potentially dangerous Request.Form ... ". Any idea how to solve it? • How secure is a PostgreSQL database if my server is stolen?

  If I have a server with a database if top secret data in PostgreSQL and my password is practically impossible to crack (128 character string of all sorts of weird chars, generated by hand). The server password is also uncrackable in theory (basically, ignore the possibility of a password crack on the DB). Aside from a password crack, how easy is it to get the data out of this database? Assumptions: Only the DB exists on the server. There is no password in a PHP script or anything like that The person who has the server is a computer / DB / hard-drive recovery expert I'm not using any hard-drive encryption or anything out of the norm for protection I'm trying to understand the risks involved with somebody gaining physical access to my server's hard-drives.

  I'm quite new to Powershell and working on a little project with functions. What I'm trying to do is creating a function that takes 2 arguments. The first argument ($Item1) decides the size of the array, the second argument ($Item2) decides the value of the indexes. So if I write: $addToArray 10 5 I need the function to create a array with 10 indexes and the value 5 in each of them. The second argument would also have to take "text" as a value.   Hi, What I wish to achieve is - log all information about each and every visit to every page ofmy website (like ip address, browser, referring page, etc). Now this is easy to do. What I am interested is doing this in a way so as to cause minimum overhead (runtime) in the php scripts. What is the best approach for this efficiency-wise: 1) Log all information to a database table 2) Write to a file (from php directly) 3) Call a C++ executable, that will write this info to a file in parallel [so the script can continue execution without waiting for the file write to occur ...... is this even possible] I may be trying to optimize unnecessarily/prematurely, but still - any thoughts / ideas on this would be appreciated. • Remote Development Workflow with Tomcat and Eclipse

  Currently, I have tomcat installed on the production server to serve my java webapps. I develop in eclipse at my personal workstation and then I use an ant script to build the project into a war file and deploy that on the server. This setup works well when I am on the same network as the server because deploying is almost instantaneous. However, now that I am working remotely uploading the war file to the server is slow and in most cases very redundant (there are about .5 GB of static media included in the war file). Is there a better way to update my webapp on tomcat from eclipse and if so what are the best options for implementing such a solution with minimal effort?

  I need some advice, what is the rule of the thumb when creating Rails controllers names? Should controller be all be verbs or a combination of nouns and verbs (or adjectives)? This is the example provided on creating controllers in Rails, ./script/generate controller CreditCard open debit credit close # which is a combination of nouns and verbs (unless credit and debit is made into a verb) However, if I create a scaffold, the default controller actions would be index, show, new, edit, update, destroy, which has 1 noun and all verb. Should nouns and verbs be separated completely for sake of consistency also providing a clearer project goals? Or should I mix them together?

  Hi all As you can get it from the title, I want to average some .jpg images which are corrupted by zero-mean Gaussian additive. After searching over internet, I figured out to add image matrices and divide the sum by the # of matrices. However the resultant image is totally black. Normally when the number of image increases then the resultant image gets better. But When I use more images it gets darker. • Facebook javascript in address bar, possible to replicate?

  This is my first experience with stackoverflow and I'm afraid my question asks of a lot for a first. I was looking at this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2634159/javascrypt-in-the-adress-bar-is-this-malicious and as you will see SLaks has very kindly deobfuscated the javascript and left us with what appears as the Javascript behind the automatic facebook invite code. As I'm fairly new to javascript, I was wondering, what other components were needed to get this code to work? You of course have the functions there and they are called by the obfuscated javascript but how exactly? Would it be possible to replicate this on a page of my own using the information available or is there more to this script I am missing? I am willing to financially assist somebody who could compile a solution for me. Thank you in advance.
