  • How do I inhibit "note C6311" in Microsoft C compiler?

    - by piCookie
In this maximally clipped source example, the manifest constant FOOBAR is being redefined. This is deliberate, and there is extra code in the live case to make use of each definition. The pragma was added to get rid of a warning message, but then a note appeared, and I don't seem to find a way to get rid of the note. I've been able to modify this particular source to #undef between the #define, but I would like to know if there's a way to inhibit the note without requiring #undef, since there are multiple constants being handled the same way. #pragma warning( disable : 4005 ) // 'identifier' : macro redefinition #define FOOBAR FOO #define FOOBAR BAR The compiler banner and output are as follows Microsoft (R) 32-bit C/C++ Optimizing Compiler Version 12.00.8804 for 80x86 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-1998. All rights reserved. message.c message.c(3) : note C6311: message.c(2) : see previous definition of 'FOOBAR'

  • Getting "open_basedir restriction in effect" in spite of adding the correct entry.

    - by akshat
I am trying to create a shared hosting scenario, using open_basedir option of php. I am doing this by adding the following to apache2.conf <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName lt1.example.net DocumentRoot /home/akshat/example/tmpblogs/tb1/ php_admin_value open_basedir /home/akshat/example/tmpblogs/tb1/ </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName lt2.example.net DocumentRoot /home/akshat/example/tmpblogs/tb2/ php_admin_flag open_basedir /home/akshat/example/tmpblogs/tb2/ </VirtualHost> Now when I access lt2.example.net, I get the error: Warning: Unknown: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/akshat/example/tmpblogs/tb2/index.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (0) in Unknown on line 0 Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '/home/akshat/example/tmpblogs/tb2/index.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in Unknown on line 0 I was getting the same error while accessing "lt1.example.net" too, but then it suddenly became alright. What am I doing wrong here?

  • Ignoring generated files when using "Treat warnings as errors"

    - by krystan honour
We have started a new project but also have this problem for an existing project. The problem is that when we compile with a warning level of 4 we also want to switch on 'Treat all warnings as errors' We are unable to do this at the moment because generated files (in particular reference.cs files) are missing things like XML comments and this generates a warning, we do not want to suppress the xml comment warnings totally out of all files just for specific types of files (namely generated code). I have thought of a way this could be achieved but am not sure if these are the best way to do this or indeed where to start :) My thinking is that we need to do something with T4 templates for the code that is generated such that it does fill in XML documentation for generated code. Does anyone have any ideas, currently I'm at well over 2k warnings (its a big project) :(

  • memory issue iPad 4.2 crashes

    - by Manoj Kumar
I am developing a application which receives 600-700 KB of XML data from the server. I have to do some manipulations in that data so once received the data the memory increases to 600 KB to 2 M.B. Already view occupied 4 M.B of memory in the application. So while processing the XML data i m doing some manipulation(pre-parsing) and the memory increases to 600 K.B to 2 M.B and finally decreases to 600 K.B. due to increase in memory, application gives the memory warning. While getting memory warning i m releasing all the views in the navigation controller but it releases only 1 M.B of memory. Even though I release all the views the application is crashing. Please help me out in this issue. It happens in iPad 4.2. Thanks in advance

  • importing modules in app engine

    - by tanky
Ive asked this before, but it seems i wasnt clear/detailed enough and after a week of trying im still struggling so i will try again. i am trying to use, oauth2 and ply on app engine. i have tried copying their directories into my app engine project directory (in the form ply-3.4 or brosner-python-oauth2-82a05f9) and i have tried copying the specific sub directory contained within the aforemention one. (ply or oauth2) i have tried saying import oauth2, from brosner-oauth2_python-82a05f9 import oauth and other variations on the theme, but i still cant get it to work nothing has worked. i have tried including them in app.yaml, but that seemed to create an even bigger error as my entire project wouldnt even run when i tried that. and now i have run out of things to try. the error log i am getting is as follows. • empty() not a valid callback?

    - by user151841
I'm trying to use empty() in array mapping in php. I'm getting errors that it's not a valid callback. $ cat test.php <? $arrays = array( 'arrEmpty' => array( '','','' ), ); foreach ( $arrays as $key => $array ) { echo $key . "\n"; echo array_reduce( $array, "empty" ); var_dump( array_map("empty", $array) ); echo "\n\n"; } $ php test.php arrEmpty Warning: array_reduce(): The second argument, 'empty', should be a valid callback in /var/www/authentication_class/test.php on line 12 Warning: array_map(): The first argument, 'empty', should be either NULL or a valid callback in /var/www/authentication_class/test.php on line 13 NULL Shouldn't this work? Long story: I'm trying to be (too?) clever and checking that all array values are not empty strings.

  • MySQL PHP incompatibility.

    - by Evernoob
Ok maybe I've overlooked something really simple here, but I can't seem to figure this out. I'm running WAMP locally, but connecting to a remote MySQL database. The local version of PHP is the latest 5.3.0. One of the remote databases, being version 5.0.45 works fine. However, the other remote database I'm trying to connect to, which is version 5.0.22 throws the following error before dying: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: OK packet 6 bytes shorter than expected. PID=5880 in ... Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: mysqlnd cannot connect to MySQL 4.1+ using old authentication in ... WTF? UPDATE: Reverting to PHP 5.2.* i.e. anything lower than 5.3.0 resolves the problem completely. As long as I am not running 5.3.0 I can connect to both databases. I'm not sure what the explanation is for this weirdness.

  • Public class: The best way to store and access NSMutableDictionary?

    - by meridimus
    I have a class to help me store persistent data across sessions. The problem is I want to store a running sample of the property list or "plist" file in an NSMutableArray throughout the instance of the Persistance class so I can read and edit the values and write them back when I need to. The problem is, as the methods are publicly defined I cannot seem to access the declared NSMutableDictionary without errors. The particular error I get on compilation is: warning: 'Persistence' may not respond to '+saveData' So it kind of renders my entire process unusable until I work out this problem. Here is my full persistence class (please note, it's unfinished so it's just to show this problem): Persistence.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #define kSaveFilename @"saveData.plist" @interface Persistence : NSObject { NSMutableDictionary *saveData; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableDictionary *saveData; + (NSString *)dataFilePath; + (NSDictionary *)getSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level; + (void)writeSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level withData:(NSDictionary *)saveData; + (NSString *)makeCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevelKey:(NSUInteger)level; @end Persistence.m #import "Persistence.h" @implementation Persistence @synthesize saveData; + (NSString *)dataFilePath { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; return [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kSaveFilename]; } + (NSDictionary *)getSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level { NSString *filePath = [self dataFilePath]; if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:filePath]) { NSLog(@"File found"); [[self saveData] setDictionary:[[NSDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:filePath]]; // This is where the warning "warning: 'Persistence' may not respond to '+saveData'" occurs NSString *campaignAndLevelKey = [self makeCampaign:campaign andLevelKey:level]; NSDictionary *campaignAndLevelData = [[self saveData] objectForKey:campaignAndLevelKey]; return campaignAndLevelData; } else { return nil; } } + (void)writeSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level withData:(NSDictionary *)saveData { NSString *campaignAndLevelKey = [self makeCampaign:campaign andLevelKey:level]; NSDictionary *saveDataWithKey = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:saveData, campaignAndLevelKey, nil]; //[campaignAndLevelKey release]; [saveDataWithKey writeToFile:[self dataFilePath] atomically:YES]; } + (NSString *)makeCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevelKey:(NSUInteger)level { return [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d - ", campaign+1] stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", level+1]]; } @end I call this class like any other, by including the header file in my desired location: @import "Persistence.h" Then I call the function itself like so: NSDictionary *tempSaveData = [[NSDictionary alloc] [Persistence getSaveWithCampaign:currentCampaign andLevel:currentLevel]];

  • Building XCode From Command Line Issues (Updating Entitlements file location)

  • Using colon syntax and variables in Sass

    - by corroded
I am still using the old colon syntax (I prefer it more than the bracket syntax) and this particular code: a.button-link +box($main-color) +border-radius(5px) :background :color $main-color :color #fff :padding 5px generates a warning like so: DEPRECATION WARNING: On line 12, character 3 of '/Users/eumir/rails_apps/dxconnect/app/ stylesheets/partials/utilities/_link-styles.sass' Setting properties with = has been deprecated and will be removed in version 3.2. Use "background: $main-color" instead. I tried that but my background color still doesn't show up. Any help on this please? Thanks!

  • Swap bits in c++ for a double

    - by hidayat
Im trying to change from big endian to little endian on a double. One way to go is to use double val, tmp = 5.55; ((unsigned int *)&val)[0] = ntohl(((unsigned int *)&tmp)[1]); ((unsigned int *)&val)[1] = ntohl(((unsigned int *)&tmp)[0]); But then I get a warning: "dereferencing type-punned pointer will break strict-aliasing rules" and I dont want to turn this warning off. Another way to go is: #define ntohll(x) ( ( (uint64_t)(ntohl( (uint32_t)((x << 32) >> 32) )) << 32) | ntohl( ((uint32_t)(x >> 32)) ) ) val = (double)bswap_64(unsigned long long(tmp)); //or val = (double)ntohll(unsigned long long(tmp)); But then a lose the decimals. Anyone know a good way to swap the bits on a double without using a for loop?

  • Returning NSNull from actionForLayer:forKey

    - by MrHen
If I implement the CALayer delegate method actionForLayer:forKey I can return [NSNull null] to force the CALayer to not animate any changes. Unfortunately, [NSNull null] doesn't implement the CAAction delegate and XCode kicks out the following warning: warning: class 'NSNull' does not implement the 'CAAction' protocol Here is the method code: - (id<CAAction>)actionForLayer:(CALayer *)theLayer forKey:(NSString *)theKey { //This disables the animations when moving things around //Also, don't animate the selection box. It was doing weird things if(undoGroupStarted || theLayer == self.selectionBox) { return [NSNull null]; } else { return nil; } } Am I doing something wrong? Is returning [NSNull null] bad behavior? If so, what is another way to do what I am trying to do here? If not, how do I make the compiler happy?

  • Avoiding "variable might not have been initialized"

    - by Mason Wheeler
I recently ran across a routine that looks something like this: procedure TMyForm.DoSomething(list: TList<TMyObject>; const flag: boolean); var local: integer; begin if flag then //do something else local := ExpensiveFunctionCallThatCalculatesSomething; //do something else for i := 0 to list.Count do if flag then //do something else if list[i].IntValue > local then //WARNING HERE //do something else end; This gives Variable 'local' might not have been initialized even though you can tell by reading the code that you won't hit that line unless the code branch that initializes it has run. Now, I could get rid of this warning by adding a useless local := 0; at the top of the procedure, but I wonder if there might not be a better way to structure this to avoid the issue. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Trappings MySQL Warnings on Calls Wrapped in Classes -- Python

    - by chernevik
I can't get Python's try/else blocks to catch MySQL warnings when the execution statements are wrapped in classes. I have a class that has as a MySQL connection object as an attribute, a MySQL cursor object as another, and a method that run queries through that cursor object. The cursor is itself wrapped in a class. These seem to run queries properly, but the MySQL warnings they generate are not caught as exceptions in a try/else block. Why don't the try/else blocks catch the warnings? How would I revise the classes or method calls to catch the warnings? Also, I've looked through the prominent sources and can't find a discussion that helps me understand this. I'd appreciate any reference that explains this. Please see code below. • EHsc vc EHa (synchronous vs asynchronous exception handling)

    - by watson1180
Could you give a bullet list of practical differences/implication? I read relevant MSDN article, but my understanding asynchronous exceptions is still a bit hazy. I am writing a test suite using Boost.Test and my compiler emits a warning that EHa should be enabled: warning C4535: calling _set_se_translator() requires /EHa The project itself uses only plain exceptions (from STL) and doesn't need /EHa switch. Do I have to recompile it with /EHa switch to make the test suite work properly? My feeling is that I need /EHa for the test suit only. Thank you and happy new year.

  • Issues using UITapGestureRecognizers in Interface Builder

    - by 5StringRyan
I'm attempting to use the UITapGestureRecognizer object that can be found in Interface Builder. I've dragged a single "UITapGestureRecognizer" from the object library to a single view xib. I then create an IBAction method from this tap gesture, for a simple test, I'm just printing an "NSLog" message to the console once there is a tap on the view. I've run this, and the tap method isn't being called. I right click the view in IB and I noticed that there is a warning "!" on the view's "Outlook Collections" I see: Outlook Collections gestureRecognizers - Tap Gesture Recognizer (!) The warning states: UIView does not have an outlet collection named gestureRecognizers. What do I need to do to remedy this?

  • How to 'hide' spurious "declared but never used" warnings?

    - by Roddy
    I'm using the C++Builder compiler which has a minor bug that certain static const items from system header files can cause spurious "xyzzy is declared but never used" warnings. I'm trying to get my code 100% warning free, so want a way of masking these particular warnings (note - but not by simply turning off the warning!) Also, I can't modify the header files. I need a way of 'faking' the use of the items, preferably without even knowing their type. As an example, adding this function to my .cpp modules fixes warnings for these four items, but it seems a bit 'ad-hoc'. Is there a better and preferably self-documenting way of doing this? static int fakeUse() { return OneHour + OneMinute + OneSecond + OneMillisecond; }
