  • Automated Testing tools for HTML5 Canvas

    I'm looking for a tool to do some automated GUI testing on a HTML5 canvas component we're developing. Basically I'm looking for a tool that is able to record the clicks and events on the canvas component and is able to replay those events. So far most of the testing tools like Telerik WebUI Testing Suite, Selenium, TestSwarm, qUnit, Jasmine, Hudson seems that they don't fully support HTML5 canvas testing. Would you guys know a testing tool that already supports that ? If not, would you know how companies are doing automated testing of HTML5 canvas ? Thanks, Andy N.

    I have two models: class Solution < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :owner, :class_name => "User", :foreign_key => :user_id end class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :solutions end with the following routing: map.resources :users, :has_many => :solutions and here is the SolutionsController: class SolutionsController < ApplicationController before_filter :load_user def index @solutions = @user.solutions end private def load_user @user = User.find(params[:user_id]) unless params[:user_id].nil? end end Can anybody help me with writing a test for the index action? So far I have tried the following but it doesn't work: describe SolutionsController do before(:each) do @user = Factory.create(:user) @solutions = 7.times{Factory.build(:solution, :owner => @user)} @user.stub!(:solutions).and_return(@solutions) end it "should find all of the solutions owned by a user" do @user.should_receive(:solutions) get :index, :user_id => @user.id end end And I get the following error: Spec::Mocks::MockExpectationError in 'SolutionsController GET index, when the user owns the software he is viewing should find all of the solutions owned by a user' #<User:0x000000041c53e0> expected :solutions with (any args) once, but received it 0 times Thanks in advance for all the help.   • Perl, strings, floats, unit testing and regexps!

    OK, as a preface this question potentially is 'stupider' than my normal level of question - however this problem has been annoying me for the last few days so I'll ask it anyway. I'll give a mock example of what my problem is so I can hope to generalize it to my current problem. #!/usr/bin/perl -w use strict; use Test::More 'no_plan'; my $fruit_string = 'Apples cost $1.50'; my ($fruit, $price) = $fruit_string =~ /(\w+)s cost \$(\d+\.\d+)/; # $price += 0; # Uncomment for Great Success is ($price, 1.50, 'Great Success'); Now when this is run I get the message # Failed test 'Great Success' # got: '1.50' # expected: '1.5' To make the test work - I either uncomment the commented line, or use is ($price, '1.50', 'Great Success'). Both options do not work for me - I'm testing a huge amount of nested data using Test::Deep and cmp_deeply. My question is, how can you extract a double from a regexp then use it immediately as a double - or if there is a better way altogether let me know - and feel free to tell me to take up gardening or something lol, learning Perl is hard.

  • Multiple asserts in single test?

    Let's say I want to write a function that validates an email address with a regex. I write a little test to check my function and write the actual function. Make it pass. However, I can come up with a bunch of different ways to test the same function ([email protected]; [email protected]; test.test.com, etc). Do I put all the incantations that I need to check in the same, single test with several ASSERTS or do I write a new test for every single thing I can think of? Thanks!

  • How to automate testing of a browser-based app?

    If it were a windows program, I would use Auto it to automate testing. Is there something similar for browser-based apps? Nothing too complex, it should just allow scripting (preferable for me to macro-recording) to simulate human interaction with the browser, which means being able to identify fields of a form by name, inject text into some, simulate mouse-click on others, etc and then, after submitting a form, should be able to read text certain named controls, check the status of others (checked, radio group index, read-only, etc). While I do appreciate a full featured product, I don't appreciate a steep learning curve. so something as simple as the scripting of Auto It woudl be fine. I don't know if it makes a difference which browser is used, but I could live with MSIE 6 or higher (maybe 7 or higher at a push).

  • Test assertions for tuples with floats

    I have a function that returns a tuple that, among others, contains a float value. Usually I use assertAlmostEquals to compare those, but this does not work with tuples. Also, the tuple contains other data-types as well. Currently I am asserting every element of the tuple individually, but that gets too much for a list of such tuples. Is there any good way to write assertions for such cases?

The current process is to run through a manual script and record how long certain processes take to populate data, it may populate a datagrid, a tree, a list box, etc... It will also need to be able record how long it takes to generate a pdf report. We do not require extremely accurate time just to the nearest second or less than a second. I need to know if there is a simple Automated testing product that will handle the above criteria.

  • Wrapping text and div as a unit

    I have the following that I would like wrapped as units. <div class='tag-box'> <a href=#>Axe Committee</a> <div class='circle'><a href=#>x</a></div> </div> The CSS for these classes are: .tag-box { display:inline; } .circle { display:inline; padding-left:4px; padding-right:4px; background:rgb(196,15,24); /*dark red*/ -moz-border-radius:10px; -webkit-border-radius:10px; } .circle a { font-size:10px; text-decoration:none; color:#fff; position:relative; top:-2px; } I can have upwards of 20 or 30 of these tag-boxes displayed inline. The problem is that the wrapping will break the words from each other or even break the red circle from the link. This makes it hard to differentiate which circle belongs to which link. (In the future, each circle corresponds to a different action with respect to the link.) See below. How do I prevent this kind of wrapping from occurring?

After googling the subject, I have still a hard time understanding the pros and cons of using these testing frameworks to speed up development.     I have the following controller test case: def test_showplain Cleaner.expect(:parse).with(@somecontent) Cleaner.any_instance.stubs(:plainversion).returns(@returnvalue) post :showplain, {:content => @somecontent} end This works fine, except that I want the "stubs(:plainversion)" to be an "expects(:plainversion)". Here's the controller code: def showplain Cleaner.parse(params[:content]) do | cleaner | @output = cleaner.plainversion end end And the Cleaner is simply: class Cleaner ### other code and methods ### def self.parse(@content) cleaner = Cleaner.new(@content) yield cleaner cleaner.close end def plainversion ### operate on @content and return ### end end Again, I can't figure out how to reliably test the "cleaner" that is made available from the "parse" method. Any suggestions?

    I'm preparing a presentation and I need to get a better understanding of what mocking is, what is the purpose of using it, what are the common situations that I should use mock objects? I found out that there are a bunch of mocking frameworks out there. Do they all do the same thing or do I use a specific framework for specific testing purpose? What are the differences between these frameworks? Which one would you recommend for testing Java? here are some stuff that I found: 1.MockingToolkitComparisonMatrix which seems biased. 2.What are mock objects in Java? This is a year old.   • Get/save parameters to an expected JMock method call?

    Hi, I want to test an "Adapter" object that when it receives an xml message, it digest it to a Message object, puts message ID + CorrelationID both with timestamps and forwards it to a Client object.=20 A message can be correlated to a previous one (e.g. m2.correlationID =3D m1.ID). I mock the Client, and check that Adapter successfully calls "client.forwardMessage(m)" twice with first message with null correlationID, and a second with a not-null correlationID. However, I would like to precisely test that the correlationIDs are set correctly, by grabing the IDs (e.g. m1.ID). But I couldn't find anyway to do so. There is a jira about adding the feature, but no one commented and it is unassigned. Is this really unimplemented? I read about the alternative of redesigning the Adapter to use an IdGenerator object, which I can stub, but I think there will be too many objects.=20 Don't you think it adds unnecessary complexity to split objects to a so fine granularity?     I've come across odd behavior when comparing strings. First assert passes, but I don't think it should.. Second assert fails, as expected...   • Need a push in the write direction, to write my first functional test in Rails?

    Hi, I've read quiet a bit of documentation over the last few days about testing in Rails, I'm sitting down to write my first real test and not 100% sure how to tie what I have learned together to achieve the following functional test (testing a controller) I need to send a GET request to a URL and pass 3 parameters (simple web-service), if the functionality works the keyword "true" is simply returned, otherwise the keyword "false" is returned - its in only value returned & not contained in any , or other tags. The test should assert that if "true" is returned the test is successful. This is probably very simple so apologies for such a non-challenging question. If anyone could point me in the write direction on how I can get started, particularly how I can test the response, I'd be very grateful! Thanks!

What I want to accomplish: After my nightly build I want to complete some profiling (instrumental) to see if some functions (will most likely always be the same) have changed in some negative way (or positive of course).
