  • Use deployJava.js to check for/automatically install latest JRE version for web applet

    I'd like to use the deployJava.js tool to have Java automatically detect the currently installed JRE and install an updated version if necessary. My initial impression when reading about deployJava.js was that it would do this out of the box when you simply set a version number as a function parameter for the "runApplet" function. But this has never seemed to work. Is it even possible to do this, and if so, how?   • Combining RequiresSTA and Timeout attributes on a test fails

    I have a test that opens and closes a WPF Window and thus requires the STA threading apartment. To safeguard the test against the window staying open (and thus hang the test indefinitely) I wanted to use the Timeout attribute. The problem is that applying the Timeout attribute causes the test to fail on timeout regardless of whether the test works or not. Without the attribute everything works fine. My theory is that Timeout causes the test to be executed on a new thread that does not inherit the STA apartment. Is there another way to have both STA and the timeout safeguard in NUnit?     Hi folks, I am quite the n00b but lately I have been playing with parsing some XML data.   • Update GRUB to reflect changed partition location

    I currently have 3 partitions: Windows, Ubuntu, and swap. I want to move my windows partition by about 20GB. When I try to do this in GParted, it tells me that this will mess up GRUB, and that there is a page that can resolve these issues. However, this page does not actually mention my issue. I am not moving my boot partition (Ubuntu). How can I force GRUB to look for operating systems that are on the drive? I know that this is possible, because when Ubuntu was installed it found Windows without any issues. Additionally, if I create a copy of a partition, how can I add that to GRUB (I assume it will be the same command as above, but if not, what would it be)? Note: OS prober is mentioned here but it doest not list how to use it, or where to find it.

    I updated 12.04 yesterday and it broke my wireless connection. iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. l@ubuntu:~$ lspci|grep Network 03:00.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT3090 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe In the hardware drivers, I see - rt3090sta is activated but currently not in use. WICD does not show wireless networks. Can someone help me please? Thanks id

  • glutPostRedisplay() does not update display

    I am currently drawing a rectangle to the screen and would like to move it by using the arrow keys. However, when I press an arrow key the vertex data changes but the display does refresh to reflect these changes, even though I am calling glutPostRedisplay(). Is there something else that I must do? It goes through a page, looks for <a> tags whose href points to tinyurl.com, and adds a "title" attribute that identifies the true destination of the link. Much of the important code comes from an older (unsupported) Greasemonkey script that quits working when the inner component that held the XPath implementation changed.   • usb keyboard stopped working in terminal window after update from 13.04 to 13.10

    When I start the computer, I am logged in automatically. Using the keyboard, I type Ctrl+Alt+t, which brings up a terminal window, just like it should; however, nothing happens when I attempt to type into the terminal. If I change over to the guest account, I can type into the terminal, but (different problem here, I'll ask it separately unless someone is kind enough to answer it here) my password doesn't work for sudo or anything else. Elsewhere I read that Language support could fix it, but that won't accept my password either - and no, I haven't changed it lately. Also, my Plex Media Server seems to have disappeared. I'll re-install everything if necessary, but I sure would rather avoid that if possible

    I have a class method that deals with dates: public function setAvailability(DateTime $start, DateTime $end){ } Since item availability can have lower limit, upper limit, both or none, I'd like to make setAvailability() accept NULL values as well. However, the NULL constant violates the type hinting: $foo->setAvailability(NULL, $end); triggers: Catchable fatal error: Argument 1 passed to Foo::setAvailability() must be an instance of DateTime, null given And, as far as I know, I cannot have a DateTime instance with no value. (Can I?) For a reason I cannot grasp, this seems to work: public function setAvailability(DateTime $start=NULL, DateTime $end=NULL){ } ... $foo->setAvailability(NULL, $end); But it looks like a hack that works by pure chance. How would you deal with unset dates in PHP classes?

  • Neo4j+Gremlin : Trouble with T.gte and floating point node attributes

    For a type of nodes in my graph, attribute values for an attribute(named 'some_count') is either missing or an integer or a float. I'm trying to write gremlin to filter these nodes based on minimum value for this attribute. I first verified that the values are indeed present by firing the following gremlin g.v(XXX)._().in('category').hasNot('some_count', T.eq, null).back(1).some_count Next, I tried filtering by exact value and that works and show me the matching nodes or gives an empty array if there is no match g.v(XXX)._().in('category').hasNot('some_count', T.eq, null).back(1).has('some_count', T.eq, 120000.0d) But the following query that uses the 'greater than or equal to' comparator doesn't work. g.v(XXX)._().in('category').hasNot('some_count', T.eq, null).back(1).has('some_count', T.gte, 1.0d) this returns nil (I'm querying via ruby/rails using Neo4j AR Adapter ) Instead of returning an empty array for no match, it returns a nil, which tells me something could be wrong with the query itself. I'm running neo4j community server 1.8. Is there a way I can ask Neo4j to log errors/queries, to see what could be going wrong ?

    I've got an object in my project with circular references. I've put [JsonIgnore] above the field like so: [JsonIgnore] public virtual Foobar ChildObject { get; set; } I'm still getting circular reference errors when I serialize the object. The only fields that do not have JsonIgnore are string fields and should not cause this. Is there something else I need to do to get JsonIgnore to work? Thanks!

  • GRUB's menu.lst deleted after a kernel update

    I have installed ubuntu through wubi and all was well until I updated to the next kernel version. I am now trying to boot into ubuntu and it shows me the GRUB rescue command line. I am able to boost windows and the problem seems to be related to the fact that I have no menu.lst on ubuntu\disks\boot\grub and also it might be related to the fact that wubi wasn't installed to the drive where windows is installed but I am not sure. How do I recover menu.lst? Does the problem lay somewhere else? Is there a way to read the data with a windows tool to just recover my data?

  • HD 6770M low graphics mode after update (AGAIN)

    I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (re)installed on this laptop: I've also installed the fglrx-drivers for my ATI card (using apt-get),it appeared to work fine,that is until i updated my distro. Once again i got the "low graphics mode" error when i booted into the new kernel,booting in the old kernel works fine however. When i look into the logs i see "no screen found". This is the second time i install Ubuntu and the second time i run into problems with my graphics. Reinstalling isn't a solution since the problem keeps comming back. My question now is: does anyone know a REAL solution for this issue ar at least knows what's causing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
