  • Cursor while loop returning every value but the last

    Hello, I am using a while loop to iterate through a cursor and then outputing the longitude and latitude values of every point within the database. For some reason it is not returning the last (or first depending on if I use Cursor.MoveToLast) set of longitude and latitude values in the cursor.   • Can any framework project use Struts-taglib

    I have read here that one disadvantage that some may find with using Spring MVC over Struts is that Struts has tags that output HTML code, while Spring has tags that don't generate HTML. My question is can't you just use the Struts tag-lib in a Spring MVC project (or any other kind of framework project), by dropping the right jar into the WEB-INF/lib folder? Any clarification is appreciated, thanks.

  • GridLayout with single column

    Right now I'm trying to use a GridLayout with only a single column. However I'm having a problem where I don't want the object, in this case a JButton, to be stretched the entire width of the JPanel that it's on. Is there a way to decrease the width of the JButton so that it does not stretch the entire width of the JPanel. I've tried using setPreferredSize and setSize with no results. Is this just the way GridLayout works or is there something I'm missing?

  • Converting raw bytes into audio sound

    In my application I inherit a javastreamingaudio class from the freeTTS package then bypass the write method which sends an array of bytes to the SourceDataLine for audio processing. Instead of writing to the data line, I write this and subsequent byte arrays into a buffer which I then bring into my class and try to process into sound. My application processes sound as arrays of floats so I convert to float and try to process but always get static sound back. I am sure this is the way to go but am missing something along the way. I know that sound is processed as frames and each frame is a group of bytes so in my application I have to process the bytes into frames somehow. Am I looking at this the right way? Thanx in advance for any help.

Already considered: ANTLR-generated lexer/parser (seems to be an overkill), SCXML-based state machine (seems like only transitions can be declared, the rest needs to be coded)

    In a project I have a folder src for all application source code and a different folder test for all junit test (both with a simular package hierarchy). Now I want that Ant can run all tests in in test folder, bot the problem is that now also files in the src folder with "Test" in the filename are included.     Using the Apache Http stack on Android, I'm trying to force a thread out of a call to read. Any ideas? I'm also open to some kind of non-blocking IO, but I don't see any way to do that with the HttpUriRequest object. Thanks!

  • Amazon SQS invalid binary character in message body

    I have a web app that sends messages to an Amazon SQS Queue. Amazon sqs lib throws a 'AmazonSQSException' since the message contained invalid binary character. The message is the referrer obtained from an incoming http request.   • How can Swing dialogs even work?

    If you open a dialog in Swing, for example a JFileChooser, it goes somewhat like this pseudocode: swing event thread { create dialog add listener to dialog close event { returnValue = somethingFromDialog } show dialog (wait until it is closed) return returnValue } My question is: how can this possibly work? As you can see the thread waits to return until the dialog is closed. This means the Swing event thread is blocked. Yet, one can interact with the dialog, which AFAIK requires this thread to run. So how does that work?

  • Passing empty list as parameter to JPA query throws error

    If I pass an empty list into a JPA query, I get an error. For example: List<Municipality> municipalities = myDao.findAll(); // returns empty list em.createQuery("SELECT p FROM Profile p JOIN p.municipality m WHERE m IN (:municipalities)") .setParameter("municipalities", municipalities) .getResultList(); Because the list is empty, Hibernate generates this in SQL as "IN ()", which gives me error with Hypersonic database. There is a ticket for this in Hibernate issue tracking but there are not many comments/activity there. I don't know about support in other ORM products or in JPA spec either. I don't like the idea of having to manually check for null objects and empty lists every time. Is there some commonly known approach/extension to this? How do you handle these situations?

It has a method called getValuesFromFlash which essentially gets the values from the flash and sets the coresponding properties of the UserBean public void getValuesFromFlash() { Flash flash = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getFlash(); firstName= (String) flash.get("firstName"); lastName = (String) flash.get("lastName"); } In the entry page the <h:inputText> are bound to the flash. Why is the method not visible? What I am doing wrong here please? I am using JSF2.0 (MyFaces), Eclipse Helios and Tomcat 6 (Have also tried in Tomcat 7 but no luck). Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Exception thrown while working with JTabbedPane

    I'm using a JTabbedPane in my application and I listen to its changes with ChangeListener so that I can know which tab is currently selected. So my stateChanged method is; public void stateChanged(ChangeEvent e) { currentPageIndex = jTabbedPane.getSelectedIndex(); } But while I'm adding new tabs to the JTabbedPane it throws an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in the method above, I don't know why. Some suggested for a similar case that this is a bug http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4873983, but as you'll see some says the solution is to work with Swing from EventDispatchThread. What does it mean, do they mean the SwingUtilities.invokeLater thing? Can someone show me how I can modify my stateChanged method accordingly to avoid the exception?

  • Why do my Sax Parser produce no results after using InputStream Read?

    Hello, I have this piece of code which I'm hoping will be able to tell me how much data I have downloaded (and soon put it in a progress bar), and then parse the results through my Sax Parser. If I comment out basically everything above the //xr.parse(new InputSource(request.getInputStream())); line and swap the xr.parse's over, it works fine. But at the moment, my Sax parser tells me I have nothing. Is it something to do with is.read (buffer) section?   • Accessing selected node of richfaces tree from Javascript

    Hello This should be a very simple question. I have a richfaces tree that is rendered using JSF. When the user clicks on a node I want a javascript function to run. Nothing more nothing less. No redirects, no re-submit, no-rerender, no Ajax. Just plain old Javascript. I have seen the onselected attribute of the tree and it indeed fires a Javascript method. But of course I want to know which node was clicked. I expected that the first argument of the callback would be the selected node but this is not the case. So the question is this: How do I fire a Javascript function with the selected node from a richfaces tree?

  • Mismatched coordinate systems in LWJGL with Mouse and Textures

    I'm not really sure how to expand on this other than to say that it appears that my LWJGL seems to have different coordinate systems for the Mouse and for painting Textures. It seems that Textures have the usual Java2D way of putting (0, 0) in the upper-left corner, while the Mouse goes by the more sensible way of having the origin in the lower-left corner. I've checked my code a bunch but I don't see anything modifying the values between where I read them and where I use them. It's thrown me for a loop and I can't quite figure it out.     I need an efficient way of removing items from list. If some condition happens, I need to remove first 'n' elements from a list. Can some one suggest the best way to do this? Please keep in mind: performance is a factor for me, so I need a faster way than itterating. Thanks. I'm thinking of a way through which the 'n'th item can be made as the starting of the list so that the 0-n items will get garbage collected. Is it possible?

  • Using JUnit as an acceptance test framework

    OK, so I work for a company who has openly adopted agile practices for development in recent years. Our unit tests and code quality are improving. One area we still are working on is to find what works best for us in the automated acceptance test arena. We want to take our well formed user stories and use these to drive the code in a test driven manner. This will also give us acceptance level tests for each user story which we can then automate. To date, we've tried Fit, Fitnesse and Selenium. Each have their advantages, but we've also had real issues with them as well. With Fit and Fitnesse, we can't help but feel they overcomplicate things and we've had many technical issues using them. The business haven't fully bought in these tools and aren't particularly keen on maintaining the scripts all the time (and aren't big fans of the table style). Selenium is really good, but slow and relies on real time data and resources. One approach we are now considering is the use of the JUnit framework to provide similiar functionality. Rather than testing just a small unit of work using JUnit, why not use it to write a test (using the JUnit framework) to cover an acceptance level swath of the application? I.e. take a new story ("As a user I would like to see basic details of my policy...") and write a test in JUnit which starts executing application code at the point of entry for the policy details link but covers all code and logic down to the stubbed data access layer and back to the point of forwarding to the next page in the application, asserting on what data the user should see on that page. This seems to me to have the following advantages: Simplicity (no additional frameworks required) Zero effort to integrate with our Continuous Integration build server (since it already handles our JUnit tests) Full skillset already present in the team (its just a JUnit test after all) And the downsides being: Less customer involvement (though they are heavily involved in writing the user stories in the first place from which the acceptance tests will be written) Perhaps more difficult to understand (or make understood) the user story and acceptance criteria in a JUnit class verses a freetext specification ala Fit or Fitnesse So, my question is really, have you ever tried this method? Ever considered it? What are your thoughts? What do you like and dislike about this approach? Finally, please only mention alternative frameworks if you can say why you like or dislike them more than this approach.

    Hi, I want to use JPA (eclipselink) to get data from my database. The database is changed by a number of other sources and I therefore want to go back to the database for every find I execute. I have read a number of posts on disabling the cache but this does not seem to be working. Any ideas?
