  • Spring - Transaction Readonly

    - by AAK
Hello Gurus! Just wanted your expert opinions on declarative transaction management for Spring. Here is my setup - A. DAO Layer is Plain old JDBC using jdbcTemplete (No hibernate etc) B. Service Layer is POJO with declarative trasnactions as follows - save*, readonly=false, rollback for Throwable Things work fine with above setup. However when I say get*, readonly=true I see errors in my log file saying - Database connection cannot be marked as readonly. This happens for all get* methods in Service Layer. Now my questions - A. Do I have to say get* as readonly? All my get* methods are pure read DB operations. I do not wish to run them in any transaction context. How serious is the above error? B. When I remove the get* confiiguration, I do not see the errors, morever all my simple get* operations are performed without transactions. Is this the way to go? C. Why would anyone want to have transactional methods where readonly = true? Is there any practical significance of this configuration? Thank you! As always your resposes are much appreciated!

  • Playing around with Eclipse features - Project files are now hidden?

    - by Daddy Warbox
I don't even remember how, but somehow I managed to make all of my project's source files hidden in Eclipse's Package and Project Explorer panels. Go figure. 'Show Filtered Children (alt+click)' temporarily reveals the files, and only in Package Explorer can I double-click to reopen them from this view. They go back into hiding after I select another item, though. Plus, now I'm getting other annoyances, such as all of the folded non-hidden trees altogether expanding when I click on any item, and the entire file folder tree of my project now being shown in these panels (including my .svn subversion folders... which shouldn't be any of Eclipse's business, presently). Long story short, my Package/Project Explorers' just blew up on me, and I want to know how to fix this. Thanks in advance. P.S. What's a good guide I can use to learn my way around this silly contraption, anyway?

I have the zip file for a mac called "swt-3.5M6-carbon-macosx.zip" and i have the eclipse IDE installed on my test mac machine and windows machine. But i cannot find this executeable which i need to run an swt app smoothly on mac os x. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Disabling JComboBox and retaining original item list

    - by n002213f
My action listener on a JComboBox invokes a thread. I would like the component to be disabled until the thread completes. I have tried calling seEnabled(false) when the thread start and setEnabled(true) when it completes. Unfortunately setEnabled(false) clears the combo box list as well. Is there a way of disabling the component but retain the original list?

  • Is this an example of polymorphism?

    - by computer-science-student
I'm working on a homework assignment (a project), for which one criterion is that I must make use of polymorphism in a way which noticeably improves the overall quality or functionality of my code. I made a Hash Table which looks like this: public class HashTable<E extends Hashable>{ ... } where Hashable is an interface I made that has a hash() function. I know that using generics this way improves the quality of my code, since now HashTable can work with pretty much any type I want (instead of just ints or Strings for example). But I'm not sure if it demonstrates polymorphism. I think it does, because E can be any type that implements Hashable. In other words HashTable is a class which can work with (practically) any type. But I'm not quite sure - is that polymorphism? Perhaps can I get some clarification as to what exactly polymorphism is? Thanks in advance!

  • How do I stop the m2eclipse plugin interfering with command line mvn builds?

    - by locka
I use the m2eclipse plugin in Eclipse so that I can import a Maven project. The plugin reads the pom.xml and sorts out the dependencies in the projects in an Eclipse friendly way so I'm not looking at a sea of broken references and errors. I use Eclipse for code development however I usually build the projects from the command line, e.g. "mvn clean install". Unfortunately when I do this, m2eclipse detects disk activity and attempts to rebuild the workspace. This interferes with the command line build and sometimes results in a race condition. For example the command line might be in its clean phase but fails because it tries to delete a file or directory which is locked during the workspace rebuild. Aside from that workspace rebuilding is incredibly slow, and between failed builds and wasted CPU my build process is 2-3x longer than it should be. It isn't an option to not use Eclipse (e.g. to use Netbeans), or to disable m2eclipse. It is a useful plugin except for this behaviour. So my question is, how do I stop m2eclipse from rebuilding the workspace all the time? Can I invoke a manual refresh and otherwise disable this behaviour?

  • Specifying distinct sequence per table in Hibernate on subclasses

    - by gutch
Is there a way to specify distinct sequences for each table in Hibernate, if the ID is defined on a mapped superclass? All entities in our application extend a superclass called DataObject like this: @MappedSuperclass public abstract class DataObject implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE) @Column(name = "id") private int id; } @Entity @Table(name = "entity_a") public class EntityA extends DataObject { ... } @Entity @Table(name = "entity_b") public class EntityB extends DataObject { ... } This causes all entities to use a shared sequence, the default hibernate_sequence. What I would like to do is use a separate sequence for each entity, for example entity_a_sequence and entity_b_sequence in the example above. If the ID were specified on the subclasses then I could use the @SequenceGenerator annotation to specify a sequence for each entity, but in this case the ID is on the superclass. Given that ID is in the superclass, is there a way I can use a separate sequence for each entity — and if so, how? (We are using PostgreSQL 8.3, in case that's relevant)

  • JVM missing Rhino

    - by Andrei
I have a project that uses the ScriptEngine to process some javascript, and worked well on my machine, but when i send the projects's jar to the server, i had discovered that the server's JVM doesn't have Rhino built-in, returning null when the code calls a new ScriptEngineManager().getEngineByName("javascript"); I went to the rhino's download page, get the most recent version, and extracted the js.jar from it, added the jar on the project, but still have the same problem.

  • Android ksoap nested soap objects in request gives error in response

    - by Smalesy
    I'm trying to do the following soap request on Android using KSOAP. It contains a list of nested soap objects. However, I must be doing something wrong as I get an error back. The request I am trying to generate is as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <soap12:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap12="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope"> <soap12:Body> <SetAttendanceMarks xmlns="http://hostname.net/"> <strSessionToken>string</strSessionToken> <LessonMarks> <Count>int</Count> <LessonMarks> <LessonMark> <StudentId>int</StudentId> <EventInstanceId>int</EventInstanceId> <Mark>string</Mark> </LessonMark> <LessonMark> <StudentId>int</StudentId> <EventInstanceId>int</EventInstanceId> <Mark>string</Mark> </LessonMark> </LessonMarks> </LessonMarks> </SetAttendanceMarks> </soap12:Body> </soap12:Envelope> My code is as follows: public boolean setAttendanceMarks(List<Mark> list) throws Exception { boolean result = false; String methodName = "SetAttendanceMarks"; String soapAction = getHost() + "SetAttendanceMarks"; SoapObject lessMarksN = new SoapObject(getHost(), "LessonMarks"); for (Mark m : list) { PropertyInfo smProp =new PropertyInfo(); smProp.setName("LessonMark"); smProp.setValue(m); smProp.setType(Mark.class); lessMarksN.addProperty(smProp); } PropertyInfo cProp =new PropertyInfo(); cProp.setName("Count"); cProp.setValue(list.size()); cProp.setType(Integer.class); SoapObject lessMarks = new SoapObject(getHost(), "LessonMarks"); lessMarks.addProperty(cProp); lessMarks.addSoapObject(lessMarksN); PropertyInfo sProp =new PropertyInfo(); sProp.setName("strSessionToken"); sProp.setValue(mSession); sProp.setType(String.class); SoapObject request = new SoapObject(getHost(), methodName); request.addProperty(sProp); request.addSoapObject(lessMarks); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER12); envelope.dotNet = true; envelope.setOutputSoapObject(request); HttpTransportSE androidHttpTransport = new HttpTransportSE(getURL()); androidHttpTransport.debug = true; androidHttpTransport.call(soapAction, envelope); String a = androidHttpTransport.requestDump; String b = androidHttpTransport.responseDump; SoapObject resultsRequestSOAP = (SoapObject) envelope.bodyIn; SoapObject res = (SoapObject) resultsRequestSOAP.getProperty(0); String resultStr = res.getPropertyAsString("Result"); if (resultStr.contentEquals("OK")) { result = true; } return result; } The error I get is as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <soap:Body> <soap:Fault> <soap:Code> <soap:Value>soap:Sender</soap:Value> </soap:Code> <soap:Reason> <soap:Text xml:lang="en">Server was unable to read request. ---&gt; There is an error in XML document (1, 383). ---&gt; The specified type was not recognized: name='LessonMarks', namespace='http://gsdregapp.net/', at &lt;LessonMarks xmlns='http://gsdregapp.net/'&gt;.</soap:Text> </soap:Reason> <soap:Detail /> </soap:Fault> </soap:Body> </soap:Envelope> Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?   • HQL query for entity with max value

    - by Rob
I have a Hibernate entity that looks like this (accessors ommitted for brevity): @Entity @Table(name="FeatureList_Version") @SecondaryTable(name="FeatureList", pkJoinColumns=@PrimaryKeyJoinColumn(name="FeatureList_Key")) public class FeatureList implements Serializable { @Id @Column(name="FeatureList_Version_Key") private String key; @Column(name="Name",table="FeatureList") private String name; @Column(name="VERSION") private Integer version; } I want to craft an HQL query that retrieves the most up to date version of a FeatureList. The following query sort of works: Select f.name, max(f.version) from FeatureList f group by f.name The trouble is that won't populate the key field, which I need to contain the key of the record with the highest version number for the given FeatureList. If I add f.key in the select it won't work because it's not in the group by or an aggregate and if I put it in the group by the whole thing stops working and it just gives me every version as a separate entity. So, can anybody help?

  • Issues with reversing bit shifts that roll over the maximum byte size?

    - by Terri
I have a string of binary numbers that was originally a regular string and will return to a regular string after some bit manipulation. I'm trying to do a simple caesarian shift on the binary string, and it needs to be reversable. I've done this with this method.. public static String cShift(String ptxt, int addFactor) { String ascii = ""; for (int i = 0; i < ptxt.length(); i+=8) { int character = Integer.parseInt(ptxt.substring(i, i+8), 2); byte sum = (byte) (character + addFactor); ascii += (char)sum; } String returnToBinary = convertToBinary(ascii); return returnToBinary; } This works fine in some cases. However, I think when it rolls over being representable by one byte it's irreversable. On the test string "test!22*F ", with an addFactor of 12, the string becomes irreversible. Why is that and how can I stop it?

  • Hibernate cascading: should setting to null on a parent delete children?

    - by EugeneP
I wonder if Hib works as expected in my case? My Cascading options are set to "all,delete-orphan". Table_A @OneToOne Table_B Table_B @OneToMany Table_C Now it looks like Table_A . getTable_B . getTable_C_Collection() Suppose there are elements in Table_C collection. What I expect from Hibernate: if I set Table_B link to null, then all Table_C collection elements MUST BE DELETED. It does not happen. They become ORPHANED !

  • Multiplication of 2 positive numbers giving a negative result

    - by krandiash
My program is an implementation of a bloom filter. However, when I'm storing my hash function results in the bit array, the function (of the form f(i) = (a*i + b) % m where a,b,i,m are all positive integers) is giving me a negative result. The problem seems to be in the calculation of a*i which is coming out to be negative. Ignore the print statements in the code; those were for debugging. Basically, the value of temp in this block of code is coming out to be negative and so I'm getting an ArrayOutOfBoundsException. m is the bit array length, z is the number of hash functions being used, S is the set of values which are members of this bloom filter and H stores the values of a and b for the hash functions f1, f2, ..., fz. public static int[] makeBitArray(int m, int z, ArrayList<Integer> S, int[] H) { int[] C = new int[m]; for (int i = 0; i < z; i++) { for (int q = 0; q < S.size() ; q++) { System.out.println(H[2*i]); int temp = S.get(q)*(H[2*i]); System.out.println(temp); System.out.println(S.get(q)); System.out.println(H[2*i + 1]); System.out.println(m); int t = ((H[2*i]*S.get(q)) + H[2*i + 1])%m; System.out.println(t); C[t] = 1; } } return C; } Any help is appreciated.

  • B-Tree Revision

    - by stan
Hi, If we are looking for line intersections (horizontal and vertical lines only) and we have n lines with half of them vertical and no intersections then Sorting the list of line end points on y value will take N log N using mergesort Each insert delete and search of our data structue (assuming its a b-tree) will be < log n so the total search time will be N log N What am i missing here, if the time to sort using mergesort takes a time of N log N and insert and delete takes a time of < log n are we dropping the constant factor to give an overal time of N log N. If not then how comes < log n goes missing in total ONotation run time? Thanks

  • Invalid method declaration, return type required

    - by Brett Steen
I am getting an error at public Rectangle(double width, double height){ saying that it's an invalid method declaration, return type required. I'm not sure how to fix it. These are also my instructions for my assignment: Write a super class encapsulating a rectangle. A rectangle has two attributes representing the width and the height of the rectangle. It has methods returning the perimeter and the area of the rectangle. This class has a subclass, encapsulating a parallelepiped, or box. A parallelepiped has a rectangle as its base, and another attribute, its length. It has two methods that calculate and return its area and volume. `public class Rectangle1 { private double width; private double height; public Rectangle1(){ } public Rectangle(double width, double height){ this.width = width; this.height = height; } public double getWidth(){ return width; } public void setWidth(double width) { this.width = width; } public double getHeight(){ return height; } public void setHeight(double height){ this.height = height; } public double getArea(){ return width * height; } public double getPerimeter(){ return 2 * (width + height); } } public class TestRectangle { public static void main(String[] args) { Rectangle1 rectangle = new Rectangle1(2,4); System.out.println("\nA rectangle " + rectangle.toString()); System.out.println("The area is " + rectangle.getArea()); System.out.println("The perimeter is " + rectangle.getPerimeter()); } }`

  • How do I get an imageview to rotate while translating in Android?

    - by Ravedave
    I am trying to make an imageview that rotates while sliding across the screen. I setup a rotate animation for 180 degrees, and it works by itself. I setup a translate animation and it works by itself. When I combine them I get an imageview that makes a big spiral. I would like the imageview to rotate around the center of the imageview while being translated. AnimationSet animSet = new AnimationSet(true); //Translate upwards and to the right. TranslateAnimation anim = new TranslateAnimation( Animation.ABSOLUTE, 0.0f, Animation.ABSOLUTE, +80.0f, Animation.ABSOLUTE, 0.0f, Animation.ABSOLUTE, -100.0f ); anim.setInterpolator(new DecelerateInterpolator()); anim.setDuration(400); animSet.addAnimation(anim); //Rotate around center of Imageview RotateAnimation ranim = new RotateAnimation(0f, 180f, Animation.RELATIVE_TO_SELF, 0.5f, Animation.RELATIVE_TO_SELF, 0.5f); //, 200, 200); // canvas.getWidth() / 2, canvas.getHeight() / 2); ranim.setDuration(400); ranim.setInterpolator(new DecelerateInterpolator()); animSet.addAnimation(ranim); imageBottom.startAnimation(animSet);

  • How can I interrupt a ServerSocket accept() method?

    - by lukeo05
Hi, In my main thread I have a while(listening) loop which calls accept() on my ServerSocket object, then starts a new client thread and adds it to a Collection when a new client is accepted. I also have an Admin thread which I want to use to issue commands, like 'exit', which will cause all the client threads to be shut down, shut itself down, and shut down the main thread, by turning listening to false. However, the accept() call in the while(listening) loop blocks, and there doesn't seem to be any way to interrupt it, so the while condition cannot be checked again and the program cannot exit! Is there a better way to do this? Or some way to interrupt the blocking method? Thanks!
