  • Why doesn't border-radius work properly on text inputs in MobileSafari?

    - by abrahamvegh
Here is a reference HTML document: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <style> body { background-color: #000; } input { -webkit-border-radius: 20px; } </style> </head> <body> <input type="text" value="text" /> </body> </html> The border-radius renders fine on Safari/WebKit-based desktop browsers, but on the "MobileSafari" variant, namely the iPhone and iPad browsers, it renders with this strange box, which destroys the illusion of rounded corners when the input is being displayed on top of a differently-colored background.

  • Performance of CSS Transitions vs. JS animation packages

    - by desau
I'm wondering - is there any difference in performance of using CSS Transitions vs. any of the various JS animation libraries? (scriptaculous, scripty2, jsAnim, MooTools, $fx, etc, etc). I've tried various tests in Safari / Google Chrome, and I don't actually see any difference -- I thought that CSS Transitions were supposed to be hardware accelerated.

  • Whats happening to my HTML?

    - by user156814
I am making changes to my website, and I just noticed that things look different. In IE, the content doesnt center, theres a margin on my content, and the font looks bigger in chrome.. I ran it through Yahoo's HTML validator and the error I get is line 1 - Error: character "" not allowed in prolog. I believe that there may be some sort of whitespace being sent before the DOC TYPE, but I cant seem to fix it. The HTML looks fine in my text editor (Notepad++) so I dont know what the problem is. Im using a strict DOC Type. Everything was fine before I made any changes, but I cant pinpoint what caused the change. If it helps, I'm using a Framework (Kohana). My initial thought was that something was being sent to the browser by an echo or something, but I couldnt find any echo statements. I dont know what could be causing this... If you want to see any code or HTML just ask. Thanks. Heres the HTML (only head and doctype) via the page source in Google Chrome There seems to be some foreign characters in the source that I've never seen before, yet dont show up anywhere else (yahoo, or otherwise) <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>Recent Debates - Clashing Thoughts</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us" /> <meta name="description" content="Clashing Thoughts is a great place to argue! • css menu hover "hangs" in chrome & safari

    - by boblet
Greetings - Struggeling with a three-level css menu. Works fine in FireFox and Opera for mac, but in Chrome and Safari the third level "sticks" or "hangs" as a watermark after you move the cursor away. I have tried a few different things without luck. Live demo here: http://www.it-stud.hiof.no/~benteh/tmp/ I have cut away everything else, so this is just the menu css & html. (PS. there are only three levels on archeology, hominins and environmental)

  • CSS Drop-Shadows Without Images

    - by Spencer B.
I'm trying to use Nicolas Gallagher's brilliant CSS work on applying CSS drop-shadows to elements without images and without extra markup using the :before and :after pseudo-elements. His code is provided below... .drop-shadow { position:relative; width:90%; } .drop-shadow:before, .drop-shadow:after { content:""; position:absolute; z-index:-1; bottom:15px; left:10px; width:50%; height:20%; max-width:300px; -webkit-box-shadow:0 15px 10px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.7); -moz-box-shadow:0 15px 10px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.7); box-shadow:0 15px 10px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.7); -webkit-transform:rotate(-3deg); -moz-transform:rotate(-3deg); -o-transform:rotate(-3deg); transform:rotate(-3deg); } .drop-shadow:after{ right:10px; left:auto; -webkit-transform:rotate(3deg); -moz-transform:rotate(3deg); -o-transform:rotate(3deg); transform:rotate(3deg); } I'm trying to target all images wrapped with an a tag, which in Wordpress are really full-size images that have been resized to a medium height and width in the backend. When the user clicks on the smaller image in the post, it opens up a new tab with the fullsize view of the image (I'm sure you're already familiar with this if you use Wordpress). For some reason, I can't get his code to work, and I'm wondering if I'm targeting this wrong within my CSS. Can you help? In place of the .drop-shadow class that he uses, I'm target all images wrapped with an a tag within the #main-i div. So, like this... #main-i a img Does anyone know how to target it better than I have so that I can get the drop shadows to be applied for all images within the specified div? Thanks for your help! P.S. An example of the image I am wanting to target with this CSS is the picture of the Haitian boy here: http://lifebridgecypress.org/our-heart/seventy-two/help-haiti

    - by dmontain
In CSS, I usually go with the usual font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; For a little change, I'm going for a font that looks like handwriting. Can some of the expert CSS folks here suggest what would be some of the safest fonts (most widely available in most browsers) that look like hardwriting

  • clean html a string by element id using php

    - by user327140
Hi, as you can see by the subject am looking for a tool for cleaning up a HTML string in php using a HTML id property, example: According to the following PHP string I wish to clean the HTML erasing the black11 $test = ' <div id="block1"> <div id="block11">Hello1 <span>more html here...</span></div> <div id="block12">Hello2 <span>more html here...</span></div> </div> <div id="block2"></div> '; Will became $test = ' <div id="block1"> <div id="block12">Hello2 <span>more html here...</span></div> </div> <div id="block2"></div> '; I already tried the tool from htmlpurifier.org and can't get the desirable result. Only thing I achieved was removing elements by tag; erasing id; erasing class. Is there any simple way to achieve this using purifier or other? Thanks in advance,

  • CSS rule ignored in IE8 Quirks Mode.

    - by ProfK
I have a ul/li based side menu, styled with two CSS rules, the following of them is ignored by IE8 Quirks mode, and I assume IE6: ul { padding-left: 15px; } I can reproduce the problem in FF by removing this rule completely. I have also tried using jQuery to apply the rule, with no change in IE8: $("ul.menu-class").find("ul").css("padding-left", 15); Is this a box model issue, and, how can I reduce the UL 'padding' in IE Quirks Mode?

  • Read HTML file into email

    - by cast01
Ive written a script to send html emails and all works well. I have the email stored in a separate HTML file which is then read in usin a while loop and fgets(). However, i want to be able to pass variables into the html. For example, in a html file i may have something like.. <body> Dear Name <br/> Thank you for your recent purhcase </body> and i read this into a string like so $file = fopen($filename, "r"); while(!feof($file)) { $html.= fgets($file, 4096); } fclose ($file); I want to be able to replace "Name" in the html file by a variable and im not entirely sure on the best way to do this. I could always make my own tag and then use regex to replace that with the name once ive read the file into the string, but im wondering if there is a better/easier method to do this. (On a side note, if anyone knows whether its better to use file_get_contents instead of multiple calls to fgets, id be interested to know)

  • ASP.Net & 960.gs Integrating the .css files into a new project.

    - by Baxter
I've got a full layout designed using 960.gs and am wanting to use it in a ASP.net website but i'm getting warnings such as: "Warning File 'css/Reset.css' was not found." "Warning File 'css/Text.css' was not found." "Warning File 'css/960.css' was not found." "Warning File 'css/Base.css' was not found." I've tried adding a new similarly named folder to the solution explorer and 'add existing item' to add them in but it still seems to cause warnings and intelisense isn't recognising any of the 960.gs classes. Is there a recommended workflow for importing all of this in? I should add that it works perfectly well on the local development server and on the webspace, it's seemingly just VS that's complaining.

  • Replicating multicolumn lists from the Django admin CSS

    - by mfalcon
Hi, I'm developing a Django project and I've to show a multicolumn list for the different objects of a table. I like the design of the django-admin for showing list-objects so I looked at the code to see how it works. As I am a CSS begginer the code seemed a bit difficult and extensive to comprehend. Is there a simplier way to make what I want or actually the CSS code of the django-admin is the path to follow?

  • HTML notes in freemind

    - by asdf
Hi, I wonder if the following things can be done with the HTML notes pane of freemind: Is it possible on the layout view to decrease the separation between lines? The panel is horizontal, is it possible to setup a vertical view? (I have a big, horizontal-like monitor) By the way, when I move the mouse pointer over a node, i can see the HTLM note associated with it, but its view (as a yellow square) only lasts for some seconds. Can it be made permament? Thanks a lot
