  • Adding Controls Programatically

    I have a page I need to build out where depending on the selection the user made on a form on the page prior it displays a different set of questions for them to answer. So say the user selects Reason A from the form on page edit, then it needs to display Questions 1 and 2 on page edit_confirmation. But if they select Reason B then it needs to display Questions 3 and 4. I'm grabbing the reason code from the query string and have a switch statement set up, but I can't find anywhere how to output different controls. If Questions 1 and 2 are supposed to show up, one could be a text box and the other a checkbox, but if questions 3 and 4 are supposed to show up one may need to be a dropdown list and a checkbox.

  • cocoa - referencing a method on the parent

    I had a method on my main view controller named "calculateThis". This method was run, obviously, as int newValue = [self calculateThis:myVariable]; when I run it from inside the view controller. Then I created a static class and I need to run this method from there. How do I reference this method from that class using just relative references, as super, superview, delegate, etc. I cannot use the class name defined on the delegate because this static class is used in several apps of mine.

  • Rails 3 Nested Forms

    I have a Person model and an Address Model: class Person < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :address accepts_nested_attributes_for :address end class Address < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :person end In my people controller I have @person.build_address in my new action. My forms builds correctly. The problem is that when I submit the form, a person record and an address record is created but they aren't linked via the address_id column in the Person table.   • Perl, time efficient hash

    Is it possible to use a Perl hash in a manner that has O(log(n)) lookup and insertion? By default, I assume the lookup is O(n) since it's represented by an unsorted list. I know I could create a data structure to satisfy this (ie, a tree, etc) however, it would be nicer if it was built in and could be used as a normal hash (ie, with %)

  • Using Generics to return a literal string or from Dictionary<string, object>

    I think I outsmarted myself this time. Feel free to edit the title also I could not think of a good one. I am reading from a file and then in that file will be a string because its like an xml file. But in the file will be a literal value or a "command" to get the value from the workContainer so <Email>[email protected]</Email> or <Email>[? MyEmail ?]</Email> What I wanted to do instead of writing ifs all over the place to put it in a generic function so logic is If Container command grab from container else grab string and convert to desired type Its up to the user to ensure the file is ok and the type is correct so another example is so <Answer>3</Answer> or <Answer>[?   • Zend Studio 7.1 PHPUnit Test Case wizard does not populate "Element to Test"

    When I follow the instructions in ZS documentation to create a phpunit test case, the wizard returns no objects to select on the "Element to Test" line. Selecting "browse" provides an empty dialog box. The PHPUnit path in my preferences shows "/Applications/zend/zs710/plugins/com.zend.php.phpunit_7.1.0.v20091120-0900/resources/library/". What else can I check to see why I cannot create a test case? I'm new to ZS and PHP, so I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. Thanks.

    Here is a simple code that shows what I think is a bug when dealing with double numbers... double wtf = 36.76662445068359375000; id xxx = [NSDecimalNumber numberWithDouble: wtf]; NSString *myBug = [xxx stringValue]; NSLog(@"%.20f", wtf); NSLog(@"%@", myBug); NSLog(@"-------\n"); the terminal will show two different numbers 36.76662445068359375000 and 36.76662445068359168 Is this a bug or am I missing something? if the second number is being rounded, it is a very strange rounding btw...

  • How do I wait for all other threads to finish their tasks?

    I have several threads consuming tasks from a queue using something similar to the code below. The problem is that there is one type of task which cannot run while any other tasks are being processed.   • iPad web app: Prevent input focus AFTER ajax call

    So I've read around and can't for the life of me figure out of to solve my issue effectively. In short, I have a web app built for the iPad - which works as it should. However, I have an Ajax form which also submits as it should. But, after the callback and I clear/reset my form, the "iPad" automatically focuses on an input and opens the keyboard again. This is far from ideal. I managed to hack my way around it, but it's still not perfect. The code below is run on my ajax callback, which works - except there's still a flash of the keyboard quickly opening and closing. Note, my code won't work unless I use setTimeout. Also, from my understanding, document.activeElement.blur(); only works when there's a click event, so I triggered one via js. IN OTHER WORDS, HOW DO I PREVENT THE KEYBOARD FROM REOPENING AFTER AJAX CALL ON WEB APP? PS: Ajax call works fine and doesn't open the keyboard in Safari on the iPad, just web app mode.   • Proper color names from colordialog

    Whenever I run this, and open the color dialog, there are many colors that do not having a proper name, the listbox will show something like "ffff8000"(Orange-Yellow). Is there another way of pushing the proper name?   • Porting library from Java to Python

    I'm about to port a smallish library from Java to Python and wanted some advice (smallish ~ a few thousand lines of code). I've studied the Java code a little, and noticed some design patterns that are common in both languages. However, there were definitely some Java-only idioms (singletons, etc) present that are generally not-well-received in Python-world. I know at least one tool (j2py) exists that will turn a .java file into a .py file by walking the AST. Some initial experimentation yielded less than favorable results. Should I even be considering using an automated tool to generate some code, or are the languages different enough that any tool would create enough re-work to have justified writing from scratch? If tools aren't the devil, are there any besides j2py that can at least handle same-project import management? I don't expect any tool to match 3rd party libraries from one language to a substitute in another.

  • How to provide global functionality in multi-user database app

    I have been building a multi-user database application (in C#/WPF 4.0) that manages tasks for all employees of a company. I now need to add some functionality such as sending an email reminder to someone when a critical task is due. How should this be done? Obviously I don’t want every instance of the program to be performing this function (Heh each user would get 10+ emails). Should I add the capability to the application as a "Mode" and then run a copy on the database server in this mode or would it be better to create a new app altogether to perform "Global" type tasks? Is there a better way?

    Hi all: i'm using SVNant to checkout a repository, the total repository content is so large and i'm only interest in a few file and directories, the repository structure as below: project folder1 folder2 largefolder largefile1 largefile2 folder3 fileilike1.txt fileilike2.txt file.txt file2.txt etc... i'm only interest in the files under project/ folder such as file.txt and file2.txt, and also all files under folder3. i do not want to checkout largefolder/ because it has extra-large files in it. how to write the svnant script? i use ignore but seems not work.

What I would like it to do is wait until it finishes the scroll/selection and then push the view controller. Is there any possible way of doing this? Thanks

  • Subversion update misses new directories

    Hi all, Periodically we have trouble with SVN when doing updates. Very occasionally when someone adds a new directory doing an update through Tortoise doesn't work. If we do a "Fully Recursive" update using "Update from revision..." option then it picks it up fine. I'm poked around and seen this question which is virtually identical but with no answer. I've found the item on the SVN website, referenced by that post, that talks about an issue in 1.6.0 which is now fixed. However my SVN version is 1.6.9 and Tortoise is 1.6.7 so I wouldn't expect to have this problem any more. This only seems to occur with new directories, never seen it for individual files. We may have had older versions of Tortoise at one point (can't remember which tho) so maybe some issue has been introduced into our repo that an upgrade doesn't solve. We have the workaround but it wastes a few minutes of head-scratching after failed builds to figure it out and people who haven't come across this problem before really struggle until they ask someone else. Anyone know if this is a known bug and any permanent solutions? Thanks.

Ideally I'd be able to make them visible only to the process that's running, but if I have to programmatically set them system-wide, I'll settle for that (but, would UAC force me to run as administrator to do that?)     I was wondering if it would be possible to have a define which changes values at some point in the code be used in a conditional. If it's not, would having a function like RenderWindow* getWindow() { return window; } and then calling if(Escape.isPressed()) getWindow()->close(); The best way to do it? I'd rather not go that route because the classes that are calling the key event are members of the class controlling the main loop and the window, so I'd have to set pointers to the containing class in the smaller classes to call getWindow() and it just seems like a more complicated method. But if I can't do it with preprocessor directives I'll just have to use pointers to the parent class.

  • Is there a way to capture a bitmap from a WPF window using native C++?

    Imagine a document window in a MDI application which contains a child WPF window, say a sidebar for example. How can one get a bitmap containing both the WPF pixels AND the GDI (non-wpf) pixels? I've discovered that when making my thumbnail preview for the Win7 taskbar app icon hover, I get black in the parts of the preview where the WPF pixels should be. My current method simply grabs a bitmap capture of the document window. Then I get a DC for the preview, make a memory DC from it and select my bitmap into it. Then I do some size adjustments and bitblt the memory dc to the real dc. I'm guessing that the BitBlt operation doesn't take into account the fact that the WPF pixels are hardware accelerated and therefore need to be grabbed from the graphics hardware. All the stuff in GDI is managed just fine, though and when there's no WPF child windows, the preview image looks fine. I'm wondering if it's at all possible to grab a bitmap of the WPF window from native C++. Then I can blt that onto the black area of the previous preview.

  • How should I generate HTML to represent class and its properties?

    Currently I have a class that represents a document. This document needs to be displayed as HTML. I would like to have a method to call such as GetHTML() that would then call GetHTML() on any properties/sections of the document that needed to be rendered. I was initially thinking about using linq and XElement but am wondering if that may cause issues with certain tags in HTML. Would I better off using an HtmlTextWriter? I am open to any suggestions or best practives for this situation. Thanks!
