• Can I use IP addresses to limit API access

  I have a mini API that is only for an app I have built. The API service is on a separate domain to my app. I make jsonp calls to it and receive json in return. Therefore I only want my app to be able to access it. Can I just list a series of IP addresses for my app and allow them? Is there a better way to stop requests from anyone else to my API?

  I have to solve the following: I have an Activity which's android:screenOrientation="portrait". Even though, when the device is rotated to landscape while this Activity is visible, I have to start another one, and, when the device is rotated back to portrait, I have to finish() the activity in landscape. I tried to perform this with a BroadcastReceiver, but this special activity doesn't receive any broadcasts because of the android:screenOrientation="portrait". Any help is well appreciated. Thanks.

  According to Instruments 'Net Bytes' of my app are never more than 2MB yet sometimes I receive memory warning and the app crashes because some views on the stack are unloaded by force. I'd like to know what is the typical memory footprint where system would not send you memory warning and unload the views ? I have so far tried this on OS 3.1.2 on iphone 3GS and 3G and with 3G giving warning almost 80% of the time I test the app on it.

  I have a client server situation in which I receive data using read(socket, char_buf, BUF_SIZE) and then try to write it into a log file using write(filefd, char_buf, strlen(char_buf)) Strangely enough this fails (write returns -1), and yet the errno is set to 0, and I can print the message, AND the log file descriptor works (I write to it before and after this command).
