• Haskell: Constrain function on type Double to only work with Integers

  Suppose I'm writing a function that takes a list of integers and returns only those integers in the list that are less than 5.2. I might do something like this: belowThreshold = filter (< 5.2) Easy enough, right? But now I want to constrain this function to only work with input lists of type [Int] for design reasons of my own. This seems like a reasonable request. Alas, no. A declaration that constraints the types as so: belowThreshold :: [Integer] -> [Integer] belowThreshold = filter (< 5.2) Causes a type error. So what's the story here? Why does doing filter (< 5.2) seem to convert my input list into Doubles? How can I make a version of this function that only accepts integer lists and only returns integer lists? Why does the type system hate me?

  I encountered a memory problem in Mathematica, when I tried to process my experimental data. It's a system of two differential equations and I need to find most suitable parameters. Unfortunately I am not a Pro in Mathematica, so the program used a lot of memory, when the parameter epsilon is more than 0.4. When it less than 0.4, the program work properly. The command 'historylength = 0' and attempts to reduce the Accuracy Goal and WorkingPrecision didn`t help. I can't use ' clear Cache ', because there isnt a circle. I'm trying to understand what mistakes I made, and how I may limit the memory usage.   On SQL Server, the sys.objects table includes "Type" and "Type_Desc" attributes. • Money type field returns Dollar, but regional set to UK (Windows 7)

  Hi, On a Windows 7 machine with Advantage Data Architect version 9.10.0.11, money type data is returned as Dollars, instead of Pounds. Sometimes, it will suddenly switch to Pounds, without me changing any settings. Everything else returns Pounds correctly (regional settings is UK with £ as the currency symbol). Has anyone else had this problem and/or found a solution? If I run any reports using the money data type field I can't be sure that it's going to be accurate. And no, I can't change the field type and handle the currency symbol myself. Any help would be appreciated.

  The C++ standard mandates that all conforming implementations support the following two signatures for main: int main(); int main(int, char*[]); In case of the latter signature, would the addition of (top-level) const-ness break any language rules? For example: int main(const int argc, char** const argv); From my understanding, top-level const qualification doesn't affect the function's signature hash, so it should be legal as far as the specification is concerned. Also, did anyone ever encounter an implementation which rejected this type of modification?

  Does anyone know if it is possible to use the Visual Studio / SQL Server Management Studio debugger to inspect the contents of a Table Value Parameter passed to a stored procedure? To give a trivial example: CREATE TYPE [dbo].[ControllerId] AS TABLE( [id] [nvarchar](max) NOT NULL ) GO CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[test] @controllerData [dbo].[ControllerId] READONLY AS BEGIN SELECT COUNT(*) FROM @controllerData; END DECLARE @SampleData as [dbo].[ControllerId]; INSERT INTO @SampleData ([id]) VALUES ('test'), ('test2'); exec [dbo].[test] @SampleData; Using the above with a break point on the exec statement, I am able to step into the stored procedure without any trouble. The debugger shows that the @controllerData local has a value of '(table)' but I have not found any tool that would allow me to actual view the rows that make up that table.

  Hi, I have some code where the model contains some classes like (vb.net pseudocode, but could be any OO language): Enum AttributeType Boolean Date String End Enum MustInherit Class Attibute Must Override Function Type As AttributeType End Class Class BooleanAttribute: Attribute Function Type As AttributeType Return AttributeType.Boolean End Function End Class And the view contains some code like: Select Case AttributeType Case Boolean //Display checkbox control Case Date //Display date picker control Case String //Display textbox control End Select I don't really like the code in the view, for the hopefully obvious reasons (what happens when I get a new attribute type etc). My question is, how should I replace it? I could easily add a method to the concrete classes, but that pollutes the model with UI stuff so that's a horrible idea. I could move the select into a factory, but that seems to be just hiding the problem. Can anybody advise a better approach?

  hello, ive been trying to retrive the current network type, but no success when i say network type: i refer to know this info: if the type is: NETWORK_TYPE_IDEN or NETWORK_TYPE_UMTS.. and so on.. i tried to use: NetworkInfo activeNetInfo = connectivityManager.getActiveNetworkInfo(); or NetworkInfo mobNetInfo = connectivityManager.getNetworkInfo (ConnectivityManager.TYPE_MOBILE); but no success.. i am doing this coz i wanna know if the current network is IDEN, or if the current network is connected through wifi.. any other suggestions will be welcome, thanks!

  I'm writing some code, and I need it to catch the arguments and pass them through fmt.Println (I want its default behaviour, to write arguments separated by spaces and followed by a newline). However it takes []interface {} but flag.Args() returns a []string. Here's the code example package main import ( "fmt" "flag" ) func main() { flag.Parse() fmt.Println(flag.Args()...) } This returns the following error: ./example.go:10: cannot use args (type []string) as type []interface {} in function argument Is this a bug? Shouldn't fmt.Println take any array?   Summary: I created a bootable usb drive with a live Bridge linux (ARCH based) on it. Everything works fine. The live system mounts a device called /dev/mapper/arch_root-image as its ext4 root partition (/ mount point). The problem is that I dont know how to control the size of this partition. • System.Reflection and InvokeMember, storing type, assembly, and object in a class

  I have tested code to call a method inside of a compiled DLL, and it works. I created a class to store the object, type, and loaded assembly, but something is lost in translation because it is unable to find the member I wish to invoke. If I create a type, object, and assembly, and properly load everything into these and perform InvokeMember on the type, it works just fine. However, when I use the things inside of my class, it throws a MissingMemberException and does not invoke the member, obviously. What am I doing wrong? The member in question is a subroutine which takes one argument, a string. This is quite frustrating.   I'm not sure how best to describe this problem... In short, I want to use object literal to allow me to pass a random amount of variables in any order to a function. Whilst this is not big deal in theory, in my code, this object literal is passed to a second function call on_change. on_change works comparing an element inner HTML to a string. if it is the same, it sets a time out of to call the function again (this is sort of/almost recursive, but the function dose actually get to end before it is called again). if the elements inner HTML is different from the string, then the third parameter is executed. this will either be a function or a string. either way it will execute. I have tested this function plenty and used it for a while now. how ever, it cannot seem to get the object literal to flow through the function calls... var params = { xpos:'false'}; on_change('window_3_cont_buffer','',' if(Window_manager.windows[3].window_cont_buffer.getElementsByTagName(\'content\')[0].getElementsByTagName(\'p\')[0].innerHTML == \'ERROR\'){ alert(Window_manager.windows[3].window_cont_buffer.getElementsByTagName(\'content\')[0].getElementsByTagName(\'p\')[1].innerHTML); return false; } else { Window_manager.windows[3].load_xml(\'location/view.php?location_ID=3\', \'\', ' + params + ' ); } '); I call this as part of the form submission. after this line, I then call a function to load some content via ajax, which works fine and will trigger the code from the on_change function. I have tested load_xml function it is able to call alert(param.xpos) and get the correct response. I can even added in a check for being undefined so that rest of the times I cam load_xml I don't get swamped with alerts. The load_xml function first set up the on_change function, then calls the function to load the content to a hidden div. Once the AJAX request has updated that DIV, the on_change function should now call the parse_xml function. This pulls out the information from the xml file. How ever... The idea of this object literal param is that it can tell this parse_xml function to ignore certain things. on_change("window_" + this.id + "_cont_buffer", "", "Window_manager.windows[" + this.id + "].parse_xml('" + param + "')"); this is part of load_xml. it works perfectly fine, even with the param bit in there. except, parse_xml dose not seem to be able to use that parameter. I have been able to get it to a point where parse_xml can alert(param) and give [object object] which I would of thought meant that the object litteral had been passed through, but when I try and call alert(param.xpos) I get undefined. I know this is a pig of a problem, and I could get around it by just having the function take a zillion boolean parameters, but its just not practical or elegant. I'm sure you will need to ask me plenty more questions before I can solve this. I will post more complete code, I just cut it down to what is actually going on. Thanks
