  I have godaddy deluxe plan and here is my problem: I have two domains for example: e1.com and e2.com. Both are hosted in same hosting plan. First I created a folder for each domain in the root folder and uploaded two web site but when I'm trying to run my sites, the URL for e1 always shows http://e1.com/e1/ and for e2 it shows http://e2.com/e2. Can I avoid showing e1 and e2 folder and only show http://e1.com and http://e2.com? Thank you.

• What happens when my domain provider cancels order after domain transfer?

  I purchased 2 domains say xyz.in and abc.com on october 2012 and I got emails that they will be expiring on oct 2013. I called my local domain provider and told him I'd like to transfer the domain from Webiq to GoDaddy to which he said I cannot unless the domain is active. He asked me to pay for both the domains, renew it and then I could transfer the domain via the domain panel. When I went to the domain panel I noticed that the order was made and so I made a transfer which happened successfully. Just as he mentioned the period of validity (1 year) for each domain got transferred to GoDaddy as well! Additionally, I added 1 year of period to both the domain via GoDaddy so both of them and also GoDaddy provided an extra free year to both these domains as I paid for the transfer on 11/10/2013 at 9:18 PM MST so both of these were stated to be valid till 2016 and that's what it showed when I did a whois lookup as well. But now it suddenly shows me that my domains are getting expired this year (and the whois also shows 2015). This is confusing as I have no idea who to blame for the missing one year. I'm wondering what would have happened say if my old domain provider's client who got my domain registered cancelled the order. Since it was no longer under their control would they still be able to deduce that one year? When I tried submitting a support request to Webiq they replied: Your domain "abc.com" has been transferred away from us on 17-11-2013 and the domain "xyz.in" was transferred away from us on 18-01-2014. There are no order cancellation actions placed. If you have any billing related issues kindly contact your parent reseller. I need some guidance on explaining what issue might have occurred or understanding how this domain control works!

• Major Google not follow increase since introducing 301 to site

  Recently we implemented Varnish in front of our web nodes so that the backend would get some rest from time to time. Since varnish is case sensitive and our app was not we implemented a 301 in varnish to redirect to small case. Example: You search for PlumBer StockHOLM you will get a 301 redirect to plumber stockholm and then plumber stockholm will be cached. This worked as a charm, but when checking the Google webmaster tools we suddenly got a crazy amount of Status - Not able to follow errors. As you can see in the image below: This of course stirred up some panic and I started to read up on the documentation once again. If I pressed on one of the links I got to the help section where i found this: Well this is strange, but as the day progressed more and more errors were thrown by Google. We took the decision to make varnish return 200 instead of the 301. Now when testing the links that appears in the Not able to follow section I get a 200 back. I have tested with Chrome, curl and lynx reader and everything looks ok but the amount of errors are still increasing. What is a little bit comforting is that the links that appears in the Not able to follow section are dated before the 200 change in varnish. Why do I get these errors and why do they keep increasing? Did google release something new on October 31? Maybe I do not understand the docs correctly?

• SEO consequences for merging country sites in a .com

  I am in the process of refactoring a number of rental portals I've built for a company with locations in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Instead of the current setting of each country site running under its own domain name: www.companyname.de www.companyname.ch www.companyname.at I would love to merge them all in this way: www.companyname.com/de www.companyname.com/ch www.companyname.com/at with the country TLDs doing a 301 redirect to the respective .com address. However, I have been repeatedly told not to do this due to likely problems with SEO - the business is very SEO dependent, and being a rental chain, needs to be strong in local results. So the question is: Is there an unavoidable hit in Search Engine Optimization when redirecting to a central .com domain? What measures can be taken to soften the blow? What comes to my mind is explicitly specifying a lang attribute in the html tag. Are there any other ways to specifically point out geographical location for sub-directories?

  I have several folders in my /www folder that contain various applications. To keep things organized, I keep them in their own folders -- this includes my base application. Examples: phpmyadmin = /www/phpmyadmin phpvirtualbox = /www/phpvirtualbox root domain site = /www/Landing The reason I segregate all of my sites is that I actively develop on some of these (my root site) and when I publish via Visual Studio, I choose to delete prior to upload - if I put the Landing page in the base folder, it would be devastating for me.   I just bought a new domain from GoDaddy (nurayka.net) and I want to use it for my .blogspot.com blog now. Here is my Blogger settings. And here is my GoDaddy DNS settings. After more than 24 hours, I still can't view my blog with that custom domain. It seems that it might be something wrong with my DNS settings. Does my DNS settings correct? Does GoDaddy Domain Forwarding should be enabled from 'nurayka.net' to 'www.nurayka.net'? Note: Before this, I have go through the GoDaddy Blogger DNS Setup and CNAME Tutorial.   I am looking for a specific content management platform that would display themes for my application. Requirements are as folllows: Any user can upload content, but has to be approved by an administrator When the user uploads the content, an external application is called to generate a thumbnail I could create this using codeigniter or something, but I would much prefer to use an existing system. I have experience with Drupal (seems a little bloated for my needs), and Wordpress (I'm using it as main website right now). Maybe I need a plugin for WordPress instead of another CMS. WordPress currently blocks uploads of my file type. I can modify it, but it's a pain to update it every time WordPress has a new release.

• How to change ownership of a domain name from "missing" web designer

  Hi, We had a website produced a few years ago with a .ORG domain name. The site hadn't grown with our needs, so we've now got a new .co.uk site. Our intention was to transfer the .org address to the new site on completion. Our new site is to go live soon, but the original .ORG site has gone offline (hosting expired I believe as the expiry date for the .ORG is in 2012) and we now discover that the .ORG domain name is registered to the web designer and not to anyone in our organisation. The WHOIS information gives us the technical contact as discountasp.net. What are the steps we can take here? Our primary concern is getting the name servers changed (the current .ORG address goes nowhere) and ultimately we need to transfer ownership? The organisation in question is a community, non-profit organisation, so our pockets are not deep. Thanks in advance for any help. Stuart.

  I have breadcrumbs on my site, and the anchor text for the links are an exact match for the keyword I want to rank for. So in other words, it's "rich" anchor text. An example of my breadcrumbs could look like: Home Apple Cheats Apple Points Cheats Apple Seeds Game Cheats Well I've also used RDF markup to construct my breadcrumbs, following the Google article Rich snippets - Breadcrumbs which will allow Google to recognize it. So overall, do I need to worry about exact match anchor text that will get me penalized by something like Penguin? If so, I can remove the breadcrumbs easily.

  Regarding 301; If I redirect nonwww to www domain with 301 redirect, do I still have to determinate inside google webmaster tools which version (www or nonwww) is prefered? Or is setting up redirect enough so therefore I don't need to determinate that inside GWT? Regarding keyword being in bold: Usually keywords are supposted to be in bold font and it is irrelevant if they are links or not. But in heading (h1, h2); does there keyword also need to be in bold or is it enough if I care to put it to the beginning of heading? • Managing user privileges, best practice.

  I'm am new to web development. I'm creating a website where different user can have different privileges, such as creating/editing/deleting a news, or adding/editing/deleting whatever kind of content on the website. I started by creating a "user type" that would indicate the user's privileges (such as "user", "newser", "moderator", "admin", and so on), but i quickly started noticing issues that made me think that this might be a naive approach to this issue. What if i want to give a regular user the right to edit a news (for whatever reason)? Then the user would be half "user", half "newser". But the system i use can only handle one user-type. So what would be the best practice here? I was thinking of removing the concept of roles (or "user-types" such as newser) and only have the concept of "privilege", where every user could have zero to many privileges. So, to re-use the above example, if i wanted a user to have the right to edit some news, i would only have to give him a "edit news" privilege. Is this the way to go?

• How do I set up a "gateway" for a specific subdomain?

  I'm looking at setting up a website that will run a few different apps. Most of them can be managed by an Apache server, but I've got one specific thing that will run on a custom HTTP server. Looking around on apache.org, it looks like you can use mod_proxy to configure Apache to act as a "reverse proxy" and forward requests from a specific subdirectory to a new server with the ProxyPass directive. So if I wanted send anything from mysite.com/special on to the custom server, that's how I would do it. But what if I want to set it up as a subdomain instead? The documentation doesn't seem to cover that. If, I wanted to make it forward anything from special.mysite.com to the new server, how would I set that up?

  Google Webmaster Tools shows problems with duplicate title tags under Optimization - HTML Improvements, for example: ???????? Mitsubishi Electric Mr. Slim PC Series PC-3KAKLT (220V) 30000 BTU > /????-????/mitsubishi-mr-slim-pc3kaklt-30000-btu.html > /????-????/mitsubishi-mr-slim-pc3kaklt-30000-btu.html?category_id=96 These two pages have exactly the same content, a rel-canonical tag is set, and they are (no longer) linked to internally. Additionally, we used the Configuration - URL Parameters setting, to set this parameter to No: Doesn't affect page content about one month ago. However, Google is still showing these HTML improvements (and rankings dropped dramatically). What else can we do here? Best, David

• How to have other divs with a flash liquid layout that fits to the page?

  Basically the majority of my content is flash based. I designed it using Flash Builder (Flex) and Its in a liquid layout, (everything is in percents) and if im JUST embedding the flash content it scales to the page fine, and i have the flash content set to have a padding of 50 px. I put a header div in fine with no problems, but I have 2 problems, the first being the footer div seems to cover up the buttom of the flash content in IE, but it looks just fine in chrome. How can I solve this? I'm using the stock embed code that Flex provides, I tried to edit the css style for the div which I think is #flashContent and give it a min width and min height but it didnt seem to work, actually anything I did to #flashContent didn't seem to do anything, maybe its not the div i need to be adding that attribute to... And my other problem is I dont even know where to start when it comes to placing a div thats 280width by 600height colum to the right side of the flash content. If i could specify a size for the flash content, and the float it left, and float the colum right, and clear it with the container div id be just fine....But remember the flash content is set to 100% Scale (well techically 100%x80% because it looked better that way). Does anyone know how I can start to deal with creating a more complex scaleable flash layouts that includes other divs? ALL WELL MAINTAINING IE SUPPORT? IE is ruining my life. • I am looking for a script where users can create groups cms/social interaction site

  I am trying to find a Content Mangement/social interaction script that requires a person to be a part of a group. Specifically: My daughter is a cheerleader and there are a number of cheer groups she is involved in and also has friends in many others. A lot of them could use some kind of website where they can share information between their team members and coach. The coach being the controller of the group and who can join etc. "Group Leader"? One can only join the group if invited or given a password or some such security. There would be multipel groups or in this case multiple cheer squads who were registered as groups and the cheerleaders a part of their group. The coach or group leader would have control of the group calender and they may have their own calendars and be messaging between them and/or other social interactions. IN a perfect world they could modify their own pages individualy. Communication could go globally or only to the group and a "friends or buddy" system. I think you get the idea. I really like OCportal and what it does and can do but it does not have the group funcitionality I am looking for. Perhaps I am just going to need to see about getting aprogrammer to write an add on for me if ther is nothing like this out there. But if you know of any I would appreciate being pointed in that direction.

• Intermittent silent failures when receiving email

  I’ve had a company host my website and email for the last six months or so and I’m having intermittent and silent failures where emails sent to me are not received. The sender never receives a “delivery notification failure” message. This has happened on multiple domains (@gmail.com, @microsoft.com) I’ve experienced it happening first hand when I sent a mail to myself from another account but I was unable to reproduce the error. It’s very rare (one in every 300 emails or so) The mails are not routed to my junk folder :) Obviously I’m worried about the effect this has on my business – but what can I do? I don’t believe I have enough information to diagnose the problem (neither does my hosting company when I presented them with the same information) – should I switch to another host?

• How to get ip-address out of SPAMHAUS blacklist?

  I frequently read that it is possible to remove individual ip-addresses from SPAMHAUS blacklisting. OK. Here is 91.205.43.252 (91.205.43.251 - 91.205.43.253) used by back3.stopspamers.com (back2.stopspamers.com, back1.stopspamers.com) in geo-cluster on dedicated servers in Switzerland. The queries: http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=91.205.43.251 http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=91.205.43.252 http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=91.205.43.253 tell that: 91.205.43.251 - 91.205.43.253 are all listed in the SBL80808 blacklist And SBL80808 blacklist tells: "Ref: SBL80808 91.205.40.0/22 is listed on the Spamhaus Block List (SBL) 01-Apr-2010 05:52 GMT | SR04 Spamming and now seems this place is involved in other fraud" 91.205.43.251-91.205.43.253 are not listed amongst criminal ip-addresses individually but there is no way to remove it individually from black listing. How to remove this individual (91.205.43.251-91.205.43.253) addresses from SPAMHAUS blacklist? And why the heck SPAMHAUS is blacklisting spam-stopping service? This is only one example of a bunch. My related posts: Blacklist IP database Update: From the answer provided I realized that my question was not even understood. This ip-addresses 91.205.43.251 - 91.205.43.253 are not blacklisted individually, they are blacklisted through its supernet 91.205.40.0/22. Also note that dedicated server, ISP and customer are in much different distant countries. Update2: http://www.spamhaus.org/sbl/sbl.lasso?query=SBL80808#removal tells: "To have record SBL80808 (91.205.40.0/22) removed from the SBL, the Abuse/Security representative of RIPE (or the Internet Service Provider responsible for supplying connectivity to 91.205.40.0/22) needs to contact the SBL Team" There are dozens of "abusers" in that blacklist SBL80808. The company using that dedicated server is not an ISP or RIPE representative to treat these issues. Even if to treat it, it is just a matter of pressing "Report spam" on internet to be again blacklisted, this is fruitless approach. These techniques are broadly used by criminals and spammers, See also this my post on blacklisting. This is just one specific example but there are many-many more.
