  • SQL Server 2008 - A clever way to fill a column with rising integers

    This is a really silly question probably, I'm working on a database and what I want to do is create a table with an ID (auto increment) and another column: "Number" (I realize it sounds useless but bare with me here please), and I need to fill this "Number" column with values from 1 to 180, each time adding 1 to the previous. What would be a clever "automatic" way of doing that?

    I'm looking to have a livechat service integrated within a site where I can create chat rooms on the fly based on participants tied to that specific area... Anyone recommend using a 3rd party service I can install on the server that integrated easily with .NET, or just build one using polling method? I'd like something with socket connection, but not sure what's out there that either cheap or free that I can use.

    Hi Everyone, I am simply looking for a good tutorial that will walk me through how to create a SOM in R. I am reading Kohonen and Kaski's paper on using the maps to identify the structure of Welfare, and want to try the technique my self. I think many of the examples in R have a lot to be desired. I have looked on the web and didn't find anything that I thought made the process easy to understand. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    I am using a ModelForm to create a form, and I have gotten the initial values set for every field in the form except for the one that is a ManyToMany field. I understand that I need to give it a list, but I can't get it to work. My code right now is roughly: contacts = userProfile.contact.all() initial = {'contacts': contacts} But that doesn't work. Am I missing something here?

  • Wordpress - use comment-system outside of pages and posts

    Hi, so currently i'm using pods to create some individual pages for a log, filled with custom stuff. now i want to use the comments-system for each of this pages e.g.: mydomain.com/podpages/page1 mydomain.com/podpages/page2 mydomain.com/podpages/page3 this are not pages created with wordpress so simply adding <?php comments_template(); ?> is not working. any ideas how to solve this problem? thanks in advance please leave a comment if something is unclear :)

I know if the company exists by searching the companies table for the company's url. Is it possible to do this using form_for, fields_for, and accepts_nested_attributes_for given the company may not exist?

    I'm using JPoller to detect changes to files in a specific directory, but it's missing files because they end up with a timestamp earlier than their actual creation time. For test.9, I lose 957 milliseconds. What kind of accuracy can I expect? Are my results going to vary by operating system or file system? Suggested workarounds? NOTE: I'm currently running Linux with an XFS filesystem. I wrote a quick program in C and the stat system call shows st_mtime as truncate(xyz...000/1000).

I'm also using a Ruby Facebook API gem (mini_fb) which signs my other requests, and in addition to having no idea how to set up the MIME multi-part, even if I did I'm not sure how to add in the required signature values with the gem.     Problem String concatenation is slowing down a query: date(extract(YEAR FROM m.taken)||'-1-1') d1, date(extract(YEAR FROM m.taken)||'-1-31') d2 This is realized in code as part of a string, which follows (where the p_ variables are integers): date(extract(YEAR FROM m.taken)||''-'||p_month1||'-'||p_day1||''') d1, date(extract(YEAR FROM m.taken)||''-'||p_month2||'-'||p_day2||''') d2 This part of the query runs in 3.2 seconds with the dates, and 1.5 seconds without, leading me to believe there is ample room for improvement. Question What is a better way to create the date (presumably without concatenation)? Many thanks!

I read it in the scala programming book, that there is a cool for-yield construction, but I probably haven't understood the way it works correctly, because my code doesn't compile.
