  • Intersection of sets Mongodb

    - by afvasd
Hi everyone I am new to mongo, this is my db design: product := { name: str group: ref, comments: [ ref, ref, ref, ref ] } comments := { ... a bunch of comments stuff } tag := { _id: int, #Need this for online requests tag: str, products: [ {product: ref, score: float}, ... ], comments: [ {comment: ref, score: float}, ...], } So my usage pattern is: GIVEN a product, find comments that have certain tag and sort them accordingly. My current approach involves: Look for that tag object that has tag=myTag pull all the comments out, sorted look for that product where product.name=myProduct pull all the comments out (which are dbrefs by the way) loop through the result of 2, and checking if they are in 4, (this I can do a limit 10) etc. It's pretty inefficient. Any better methods?

  • iPhone: How to create dynamic image dragging ala iphone icon rearranging

    - by Jim Coffman
On the iPhone, if you touch and hold your finger on an icon, it starts vibrating, then you can drag them around while the other icons move aside and rearrange dynamically. I'm trying to figure out how to do this inside an application with a grid of images or buttons. I don't need them to vibrate, but I do want the UI to allow the user to drag them with real-time dynamic reordering and then return the new position (ie, an int for accessing a mutable array). Any ideas how to do this? Any sample code out there? Thanks!

  • Is there anyone out there that codes like I do?

    - by Jacob Relkin
Hi, Some people have told me that my coding style is a lot different than theirs. I think I am somewhat neurotic when it comes to spacing and indenting though. Here's a snippet to show you what I mean: - ( void ) applicationDidFinishLaunching: ( UIApplication *) application { SomeObject *object = [ [ SomeObject alloc ] init ]; int x = 100 / 5; object.someInstanceVariable = ( ( 4 * x ) + rand() ); [ object someMethod ]; } Notice how I space out all of my brackets/parentheses, start curly braces on the same line, "my code has room to breathe", so to speak. So my questions are a) is this normal and b) What's your coding style?

  • PropertyInfo SetValue and nulls

    - by Nelson
If I have something like: object value = null; Foo foo = new Foo(); PropertyInfo property = Foo.GetProperties().Single(p => p.Name == "IntProperty"); property.SetValue(foo, value, null); Then foo.IntProperty gets set to 0, even though value = null. It appears it's doing somemething like IntProperty = default(typeof(int)). I would like to throw an InvalidCastException if IntProperty is not a "nullable" type (Nullable< or reference). I'm using Reflection, so I don't know the type ahead of time. How would I go about doing this?

  • Singleton array deallocated? EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by lclaud
    Ok, so I have this singleton object and in it is an array that needs to be shown in a tableview. The thing is that it deallocates and after the first show, i get EXC_BAD_ACCESS in cellForRowAtIndexPath - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [[dataBase shareddataBase].dateActive count]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *cell=[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"celula"]; int i; i=indexPath.row; if (cell==nil) { cell=[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleValue1 reuseIdentifier:@"celula"]; } count sent to dealocated instance of CFArray .. in cellForRowAtIndexPath.. WHAT is deallocating it? why? it's declarea as an NSMutableArray and has a (nonatomic,retain) property defined .. if ((i<[[dataBase shareddataBase].dateActive count])&&(i>=0)) { NSDictionary *d=[[dataBase shareddataBase].dateActive objectAtIndex:i]; cell.textLabel.text=[d objectForKey:@"detaliu"]; } return cell; }

  • New to C/C++ Using Android NDK to port Legacy code, getting compile errors

    - by Donal Rafferty
I have been trying to take some old Symbian C++ code over to Android today using the NDK. I have little to no C or C++ knowledge so its been a chore, however has to be done. My main issue is that I'm having trouble porting what I believe is Symbian specifi code to work using the small C/C++ subset that is available with the Android NDK. Here is a picture of the compilation errors I'm getting using cygwin I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on how to deal with these errors? For instance is TBool/Int/TUint/RPointerArray/RSocket a Symbian primitive and thats why it wont compile or is it something else? Also what is ISO C++? Any tutorials, guides or tips and help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Java/JAXB: Unmarshall Xml to specific subclass based on an attribute

    - by Frothy
Is it possible to use JAXB to unmarshall xml to a specific Java class based on an attribute of the xml? <shapes> <shape type="square" points="4" square-specific-attribute="foo" /> <shape type="triangle" points="3" triangle-specific-attribute="bar" /> </shapes> I would like to have a List of Shape objects containing a triangle and a square, each with their own shape-specific attribute. IE: abstract class Shape { int points; //...etc } class Square extends Shape { String square-specific-attribute; //...etc } class Triangle extends Shape { String triangle-specific-attribute; //...etc } I'm currently just putting all attributes in one big "Shape" class and it's less than ideal. I could get this to work if the shapes were properly named xml elements, but unfortunately I don't have control of the xml I'm retrieving. Thanks!

  • How to make some functions of a class as private for third level of inheritance.

    - by Shantanu Gupta
    I have created a class say A which has some functions defined as protected. Now Class B inherits A and class C inherits B. Class A has private default constructor and protected parameterized constructor. I want Class B to be able to access all the protected functions defined in Class A but class C can have access on some of the functions only not all the functions and class C is inheriting class B. How can I restrict access to some of the functions of Class A from Class C ? Class A { private A(){} protected A(int ){} protected calc(){} protected allow(){} } Class B : A {} // calc() and allow() should be accessible here CLass C:B { // calc() should not be accessible here but allow() should be accessible here. }

  • [C++] instantiating bitset using hex character.

    - by bndz
Hey, I'm trying to figure out how to instantiate a 4 bit bitset based on a hex character. For instance, If I have a character with value 'F', I want to create a bitset of size 4 initialized to 1111 or if it is A, i want to initialize it to 1010. I could use a bunch of if statements like so: fn(char c) { bitset<4 temp; if(c == 'F') temp.set(); //... if(c == '9') { temp.set(1); temp.set(3); } //... } This isn't efficient, is there a way of easily converting the string to a decimal integer and constructing the bitset using the last 4 bits of the int? Thanks for any help.

  • Boost::Container::Vector with Enum Template Argument - Not Legal Base Class

    - by CuppM
Hi, I'm using Visual Studio 2008 with the Boost v1.42.0 library. If I use an enum as the template argument, I get a compile error when adding a value using push_back(). The compiler error is: 'T': is not a legal base class and the location of the error is move.hpp line 79. #include <boost/interprocess/containers/vector.hpp> class Test { public: enum Types { Unknown = 0, First = 1, Second = 2, Third = 3 }; typedef boost::container::vector<Types> TypesVector; }; int main() { Test::TypesVector o; o.push_back(Test::First); return 0; } If I use a std::vector instead it works. And if I resize the Boost version first and then set the values using the [] operator it also works. Is there some way to make this work using push_back()?

  • Put logic behind generated LinqToSql fields

    - by boris callens
In a database I use throughout several projects, there is a field that should actually be a boolean but is for reasons nobody can explain to me a field duplicated over two tables where one time it is a char ('Y'/'N') and one time an int (1/0). When I generate a datacontext with LinqToSql the fields off course gets these datatypes. It would be nice if I don't have to drag this stupid choice of datatype throughout the rest of my application. Is there a way to give the generated classes a little bit of logic that just return me return this.equals('Y'); and return this==1; Preferably without having to make an EXTRA field in my partial class. It would be a solution to give the generated field a totally different name that can only be accessed through the partial class and then generate the extra field with the original name with my custom logic in the partial class. I don't know how to alter the accesibility level in my generated class though.. Any suggestions?

I'm using OpenFileDialog to choose the file and pass it to this function. private byte[] GetFileContent(FileInfo file) { var result = new byte[] {}; try { using (var fs = file.OpenRead()) { result = new byte[file.Length]; fs.Read(result, 0, (int)file.Length); } } catch (Exception e) { // File is in use } return result; } Is there any way i can access this file or should i just notify the user that the file is locked?

  • c# - clear surface when resizing

    - by dhh
Hello, I'm trying to build my own custom control for a windows forms application in C#.Net. Currently I paint some rectangles and other graphic elements using the paint event. When I now resize the app form to fit the desktop size, all elements are repainted (which is exactly the behaviour I need) but the old one's are shown in the background. Here's what I'm doing by now: Pen penDefaultBorder = new Pen(Color.Wheat, 1); int margin = 5; private void CustomControl_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { CustomControl calendar = (CustomControl)sender; Graphics graphics = e.Graphics; graphics.Clear(Color.WhiteSmoke); graphics.DrawRectangle(penDefaultBorder, margin, margin, calendar.Width - margin * 2, calendar.Height - margin * 2); //... } Neither the graphics.Clear, nor adding a graphics.FillRectangle(...) will hide the old rectangle from the surface. Ideas? Thank you all.

  • Convert object to DateRange

I'm querying an underlying PostgreSQL database using Pandas 0.8. Pandas is returning the DataFrame properly but the underlying timestamp column in my database is being returned as a generic "object" type in Pandas. As I would eventually like to seasonal normalization of my data I am curious as to how to convert this generic "object" column to something that is appropriate for analysis. Here is my current code to retrieve the data: # get records from db example import pandas.io.sql as psql import psycopg2 # define query to get all subs created this year QRY = """ select i i, i * random() f, case when random() > 0.5 then true else false end t, (current_date - (i*random())::int)::timestamp with time zone tsz from generate_series(1,1000) as s(i) order by 4 ; """ CONN_STRING = "host='localhost' port=5432 dbname='postgres' user='postgres'" # connect to db conn = psycopg2.connect(CONN_STRING) # get some data set index on relid column df = psql.frame_query(QRY, con=conn) print "Row count retrieved: %i" % (len(df),) Thanks for any help you can render. • Should I use implicit conversions to enforce preconditions?

    - by Malvolio
It occurs to me that I could use use implicit conversions to both announce and enforce preconditions. Consider this: object NonNegativeDouble { implicit def int2nnd(d : Double) : NonNegativeDouble = new NonNegativeDouble(d) implicit def nnd2int(d : NonNegativeDouble) : Double = d.v def sqrt(n : NonNegativeDouble) : NonNegativeDouble = scala.math.sqrt(n) } class NonNegativeDouble(val v : Double ) { if (v < 0) { throw new IllegalArgumentException("negative value") } } object Test { def t1 = { val d : Double = NonNegativeDouble.sqrt(3.0); printf("%f\n", d); val n : Double = NonNegativeDouble.sqrt(-3.0); } } Ignore for the moment the actual vacuity of the example: my point is, the subclass NonNegativeDouble expresses the notion that a function only takes a subset of the entire range of the class's values. First is this: A good idea, a bad idea, or an obvious idea everybody else already knows about Second, this would be most useful with basic types, like Int and String. Those classes are final, of course, so is there a good way to not only use the restricted type in functions (that's what the second implicit is for) but also delegate to all methods on the underlying value (short of hand-implementing every delegation)?
