  • How to animate the frame of an layer with CABasicAnimation?

    - by mystify
    I guess I have to convert the CGRect into an object to pass it to fromValue? This is how I try it, but it doesn't work: CABasicAnimation *frameAnimation = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"frame"]; frameAnimation.duration = 2.5; frameAnimation.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]; frameAnimation.fromValue = [NSValue valueWithCGRect:myLayer.frame]; frameAnimation.toValue = [NSValue valueWithCGRect:theNewFrameRect]; [myLayer addAnimation:frameAnimation forKey:@"MLC"];

The query: SELECT sum(units) as volume, location_id, aged FROM ( SELECT units, location_id, CASE WHEN daysinstock < 61 THEN 'NOT_AGED' WHEN daysinstock < 91 THEN 'AGED' ELSE 'OVER_AGED' END AS AGED FROM STOCK_TABLE ) x group by location_id, aged the STOCK_TABLE contains the following fields: units, location_id, daysinstock. This table is matched by a StockDataSource object, with the same fields.

  • App losing db connection

    - by DaveKub
I'm having a weird issue with an old Delphi app losing it's database connection. Actually, I think it's losing something else that then makes the connection either drop or be unusable. The app is written in Delphi 6 and uses the Direct Oracle Access component (v4.0.7.1) to connect to an Oracle 9i database. The app runs as a service and periodically queries the db using a TOracleQuery object (qryAlarmList). The method that is called to do this looks like this: procedure TdmMain.RefreshAlarmList; begin try qryAlarmList.Execute; except on E: Exception do begin FStatus := ssError; EventLog.LogError(-1, 'TdmMain.RefreshAlarmList', 'Message: ' + E.Message); end; end; end; It had been running fine for years, until a couple of Perl scripts were added to this machine. These scripts run every 15 minutes and look for datafiles to import into the db, and then they do a some calculations and a bunch of reads/writes to/from the db. For some reason, when they are processing large amounts of data, and then the Delphi app tries to query the db, the Delphi app throws an exception at the "qryAlarmList.Execute" line in the above code listing. The exception is always: Access violation at address 00000000. read of address 00000000 HOW can something that the Perl scripts are doing cause this?? There are other Perl scripts on this machine that load data using the same modules and method calls and we didn't have problems. To make it even weirder, there are two other apps that will also suddenly lose their ability to talk to the database at the same time as the Perl stuff is running. Neither of those apps run on this machine, but both are Delphi 6 apps that use the same DOA component to connect to the same database. We have other apps that connect to the same db, written in Java or C# and they don't seem to have any problems. I've tried adding code before the '.Execute' method is called to: check the session's connection (session.CheckConnection(true); always comes back as 'ccOK'). see whether I can access a field of the qryAlarmList object to see if maybe it's become null; can access it fine. check the state of the qryAlarmList; always says it's qsIdle. Does anyone have any suggestions of something to try? This is driving me nuts! Dave

  • iPhone NSDateFormatter Timezone Conversion

    - by MobileDeveloperTips
I am trying to create a formatter that will convert the date format shown to an NSDate object: NSString *dateStr = @"2010-06-21T19:00:00-05:00"; NSDateFormatter *dateFormat = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [dateFormat setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ssZZZ"]; NSDate *date = [dateFormat dateFromString:dateStr]; The issue is the timezone -05:00, which is not parsed properly with the format above. Any suggestions?

  • Trouble with ASP.NET MVC auto-scaffolder template

    - by DanM
I'm trying to write an auto-scaffolder template for Index views. I'd like to be able to pass in a collection of models or view-models (e.g., IQueryable<MyViewModel>) and get back an HTML table that uses the DisplayName attribute for the headings (th elements) and Html.Display(propertyName) for the cells (td elements). Each row should correspond to one item in the collection. Here's what I have so far: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl" %> <% var items = (IQueryable<TestProj.ViewModels.TestViewModel>)Model; // How do I make this generic? var properties = items.First().GetMetadata().Properties .Where(pm => pm.ShowForDisplay && !ViewData.TemplateInfo.Visited(pm)); %> <table> <tr> <% foreach(var property in properties) { %> <th> <%= property.DisplayName %> </th> <% } %> </tr> <% foreach(var item in items) { HtmlHelper itemHtml = ????; // What should I put in place of "????"? %> <tr> <% foreach(var property in properties) { %> <td> <%= itemHtml.Display(property.DisplayName) %> </td> <% } %> </tr> <% } %> </table> Two problems with this: I'd like it to be generic. So, I'd like to replace var items = (IQueryable<TestProj.ViewModels.TestViewModel>)Model; with var items = (IQueryable<T>)Model; or something to that effect. A property Html is automatically created for me when the view is created, but this HtmlHelper applies to the whole collection. I need to somehow create an itemHtml object that applies just to the current item in the foreach loop. I'm not sure how to do this, however, because the constructors for HtmlHelper don't take a Model object. How do I solve these two problems?

  • What common routines do you put in your Program.cs for C#

    - by Rick
I'm interested in any common routine/procedures/methods that you might use in you Program.cs when creating a .NET project. For instance I commonly use the following code in my desktop applications to allow easy upgrades, single instance execution and friendly and simple reporting of uncaught system application errors. using System; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Threading; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace NameoftheAssembly { internal static class Program { /// <summary> /// The main entry point for the application. Modified to check for another running instance on the same computer and to catch and report any errors not explicitly checked for. /// </summary> [STAThread] private static void Main() { //for upgrading and installing newer versions string[] arguments = Environment.GetCommandLineArgs(); if (arguments.GetUpperBound(0) > 0) { foreach (string argument in arguments) { if (argument.Split('=')[0].ToLower().Equals("/u")) { string guid = argument.Split('=')[1]; string path = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.System); var si = new ProcessStartInfo(path + "\\msiexec.exe", "/x" + guid); Process.Start(si); Application.Exit(); } } //end of upgrade } else { bool onlyInstance = false; var mutex = new Mutex(true, Application.ProductName, out onlyInstance); if (!onlyInstance) { MessageBox.Show("Another copy of this running"); return; } AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += CurrentDomain_UnhandledException; Application.ThreadException += ApplicationThreadException; Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(new Form1()); } } private static void CurrentDomain_UnhandledException(object sender, UnhandledExceptionEventArgs e) { try { var ex = (Exception) e.ExceptionObject; MessageBox.Show("Whoops! Please contact the developers with the following" + " information:\n\n" + ex.Message + ex.StackTrace, " Fatal Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Stop); } catch (Exception) { //do nothing - Another Exception! Wow not a good thing. } finally { Application.Exit(); } } public static void ApplicationThreadException(object sender, ThreadExceptionEventArgs e) { try { MessageBox.Show("Whoops! Please contact the developers with the following" + " information:\n\n" + e.Exception.Message + e.Exception.StackTrace, " Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Stop); } catch (Exception) { //do nothing - Another Exception! Wow not a good thing. } } } } I find these routines to be very helpful. What methods have you found helpful in Program.cs?

  • VB.NET looping through XML to store in singleton

    - by rockinthesixstring
I'm having a problem with looping through an XML file and storing the value in a singleton My XML looks like this <values> <value></value> <value>$1</value> <value>$5,000</value> <value>$10,000</value> <value>$15,000</value> <value>$25,000</value> <value>$50,000</value> <value>$75,000</value> <value>$100,000</value> <value>$250,000</value> <value>$500,000</value> <value>$750,000</value> <value>$1,000,000</value> <value>$1,250,000</value> <value>$1,500,000</value> <value>$1,750,000</value> <value>$2,000,000</value> <value>$2,500,000</value> <value>$3,000,000</value> <value>$4,000,000</value> <value>$5,000,000</value> <value>$7,500,000</value> <value>$10,000,000</value> <value>$15,000,000</value> <value>$25,000,000</value> <value>$50,000,000</value> <value>$100,000,000</value> <value>$100,000,000+</value> </values> And my function looks like this Public Class LoadValues Private Shared SearchValuesInstance As List(Of SearchValues) = Nothing Public Shared ReadOnly Property LoadSearchValues As List(Of SearchValues) Get Dim sv As New List(Of SearchValues) If SearchValuesInstance Is Nothing Then Dim objDoc As XmlDocument = New XmlDataDocument Dim objRdr As XmlTextReader = New XmlTextReader(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/App_Data/Search-Values.xml")) objRdr.Read() objDoc.Load(objRdr) Dim root As XmlElement = objDoc.DocumentElement Dim itemNodes As XmlNodeList = root.SelectNodes("/values") For Each n As XmlNode In itemNodes sv.Add(New SearchValues(n("@value").InnerText, n("@value").InnerText)) Next SearchValuesInstance = sv Else : sv = SearchValuesInstance End If Return sv End Get End Property End Class My problem is that I'm getting an object not set to an instance of an object on the sv.Add(New SearchValues(n("@value").InnerText, n("@value").InnerText)) line.

  • Can I create class properties during __new__ or __init__?

    - by 007brendan
I want to do something like this. The _print_attr function is designed to be called lazily, so I don't want to evaluate it in the init and set the value to attr. I would like to make attr a property that computes _print_attr only when accessed: class Base(object): def __init__(self): for attr in self._edl_uniform_attrs: setattr(self, attr, property(lambda self: self._print_attr(attr))) def _print_attr(self, attr): print attr class Child(Base): _edl_uniform_attrs = ['foo', 'bar'] me = Child() me.foo me.bar #output: #"foo" #"bar"

  • calling startActivity() inside of a instance method - causing a NullPointerException

    - by Cole
Heya - I'm trying to call startActivity() from a class that extends AsyncTask in the onPostExecute(). Here's the flow: Class that extends AsyncTask: protected void onPostExecute() { Login login = new Login(); login.pushCreateNewOrChooseExistingFormActivity(); } Class that extends Activity: public void pushCreateNewOrChooseExistingFormActivity() { // start the CreateNewOrChooseExistingForm Activity Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); **ERROR_HERE*** intent.setClassName(this, CreateNewOrChooseExistingForm.class.getName()); startActivity(intent); } And I get this error… every time: 03-17 16:04:29.579: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1503): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 03-17 16:04:29.579: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1503): java.lang.NullPointerException 03-17 16:04:29.579: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1503): at android.content.ContextWrapper.getPackageName(ContextWrapper.java:120) 03-17 16:04:29.579: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1503): at android.content.ComponentName.(ComponentName.java:62) 03-17 16:04:29.579: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1503): at android.content.Intent.setClassName(Intent.java:4850) 03-17 16:04:29.579: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1503): at com.att.AppName.Login.pushCreateNewOrChooseExistingFormActivity(Login.java:47) For iOS developers - I'm just trying to push a new view controller on to a navigational controller's stack a la pushViewController:animated:. Which apparently - is hard to do on this platform. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! UPDATE - FIXED: per @Falmarri advice, i managed to resolve this issue. first of all, i'm no longer calling Login login = new Login(); to create a new login object. bad. bad. bad. no cookie. instead, when preparing to call .execute(), this tutorial suggests passing the applicationContext to the class the executes the AsyncTask, for my purposes, as shown below: CallWebServiceTask task = new CallWebServiceTask(); // pass the login object to the task task.applicationContext = login; // execute the task in the background, passing the required params task.execute(login); now, in onPostExecute(), i can get to my Login objects methods like so: ((Login) applicationContext).pushCreateNewOrChooseExistingFormActivity(); ((Login) applicationContext).showLoginFailedAlert(result.get("httpResponseCode").toString()); ... hope this helps someone else out there! especially iOS developers transistioning over to Android...

  • Where to put common setUp-code for differen testclasses?

    - by Benedikt
I have several different test classes that require that certain objects are created before those tests can be run. Now I'm wondering if I should put the object initialization code into a separate helper class or superclass. Doing so would surely reduce the amount of duplicate code in my test classes but it would also make them less readable. Is there a guideline or pattern how to deal with common setUp-code for unit tests?

  • Timer vs setTimeout

    - by Christophe Herreman
The docs for flash.utils.setTimeout() state: Instead of using this method, consider creating a Timer object, with the specified interval, using 1 as the repeatCount parameter (which sets the timer to run only once). Does anyone know if there is a (significant) advantage in doing so? Using setTimeout is a lot easier when you only need to delay 1 call.
