  • SLF4J, Common Logging, console output

    I have this 3rd party library that has: slf4j-api-1.5.5.jar slf4j-jdk14-1.5.5.jar jcl-over-slf4j-1.5.5.jar I want to write some tests against this library and see its log output, and I don't want to add any more logging libraries (no log4j or anything else). I understand that SLF4J and Common Logging are both logging abstractions so I probably need to write my own simple concrete logger (or maybe not, since jcl-over-slf4j includes org.apache.commons.logging.impl.SimpleLog?). If so, what interfaces should I implement, and more importantly, how do I set up SL4J/Common Logging to use my logger in my test? I read in the SLF4J docs that I have to modify the StaticLoggerBinder class... does that really mean that I actually have to download SLF4J sources, modify the class and recompile it?

    I've singled out my problem to a few lines of code lm = (LocationManager)getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); Location location = lm.getLastKnownLocation(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER); lm.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER, 1000L, 5.0f, this); lat = location.getLatitude(); lng = location.getLongitude(); //lat = new Double(40.431682); //lng = new Double(-74.2021819); pLocation = new GeoPoint((int)(lat * 1000000), (int)(lng * 1000000)); My onLocationChanged if you were wondering public void onLocationChanged(Location location) { if (location != null) { lat = location.getLatitude(); lng = location.getLongitude(); pLocation = new GeoPoint((int)(lat * 1000000), (int)(lng * 1000000)); } } My application crashes if I try to get the LastKnownLocation But it works fine if I feed it a Location manually I have no idea currently whats wrong

    I want to navigate to the N-th level of an object, and serialize it's properties in String format. For Example: class Animal { public String name; public int weight; public Animal friend; public Set<Animal> children = new HashSet<Animal>() ; } should be serialized like this: {name:"Monkey", weight:200, friend:{name:"Monkey Friend",weight:300 ,children:{...if has children}}, children:{name:"MonkeyChild1",weight:100,children:{... recursively nested}} } And you may probably notice that it is similar to serializing an object to json. I know there're many libs can do this, can you give me some instructive ideas on how to write this?

  • What can I access in Androids Native libraries? And How?

    I am completely new to the NDK. I have done a couple of the tutorials including the hello from jni one and another one that calculates the sum of two numbers. They involved using cygwin and the ndk to create the library so file and I have a bit of a grasp on how to insert my own libraries into the libraries layer of Android. I have now been asked to access the native libraries on Android and see what I can use them for. My question is can I do this? The STABLE-APIS.txt document is a bit vague and mentions the following as Stable C++ API's in Android 1.5 cstddef new utility stl_pair.h Does that mean I can access them? If so then how do I go about it? I dont think that following the tutorials I have already done would be any help? Any pointers on how to do this or links to tutorials etc.. would be greatly appreciated

    I need to build a dialog system similar to IVR used in call centers. My system is not phone-based, but the dialog is similar. Something like System: "Main menu: Enter [1] for menu1, [2] for menu2" User: [1] System: "menu1: enter [1] for apples, [2] for oranges, [3] for main menu" User: [7] System: "What??" System: "menu1: enter [1] for apples, [2] for oranges, [3] for main menu" User: [2] ... and so on I want to have a nice declarative description of all the possible options and a nice way to run through that tree, guided by user input. Already considered: ANTLR-generated lexer/parser (seems to be an overkill), SCXML-based state machine (seems like only transitions can be declared, the rest needs to be coded)

  • SAXException: Unexpected end of file after null

    I'm getting the error in the title occasionally from a process the parses lots of XML files. The files themselves seem OK, and running the process again on the same files that generated the error works just fine. The exception occurs on a call to XMLReader.parse(InputStream is) Could this be a bug in the parser (I use piccolo)? Or is it something about how I open the file stream? No multithreading is involved. Piccolo seemed like a good idea at the time, but I don't really have a good excuse for using it. I will to try to switch to the default SAX parser and see if that helps. Update: It didn't help, and I found that Piccolo is considerably faster for some of the workloads, so I went back.

    Please consider following use case, I have one bigger image, lets called is master image. Now from some where else, I am getting one small image. I want to check whether this small image is subset of master image or not. important points are, smaller image might have different file format, smaller image might captured from comparatively different view. smaller image may have different light intensity. At this stage of algorithm/computation advancement, which level of accuracy I could expect? Any algorithm/open source implementation that would have such implementation? Thanks, Rajnikant

  • How to get local ActiveMQ broker to "mirror" a queue on a remote ActiveMQ broker?

    I have a local ActiveMQ broker which is on an unreliable internet connection, and also a remote ActiveMQ broker in a reliable datacenter. I have already sorted out a "store and forward" setup so that outgoing messages are sent to the remote broker when the Internet connection is available. That alone works great, but when messages are outbound. However, now I have to do the reverse. Here is the scenario: A new message appears in the remote ActiveMQ broker. The message is put into a specific queue. In a few minutes, the Internet connection becomes available to the local ActiveMQ broker. The local broker should then be able to pull the message from the remote broker, and place it in its own local queue. Local consumers will then be able to see the message. So in essence, I need the local broker to become a subscribed consumer to the remote queue. I have looked through the ActiveMQ documentations but I can't find anything yet about how to do this in the .xml configuration file. Is this what I should be looking for? See: "ActiveMQ: JMS to JMS Bridge". Any advice and tips would be highly appreciated.

In my case I'd like to make sure ant uses my copy of jsch.jar for the scp task, and not one that my already be installed on the system. Is there any way I can <scp> while guaranteeing it's using my jsch.jar?

    I'm having trouble starting a transaction with Hibernate and MySQL while running in JUnit. I'm getting a HibernateException which states: "No TransactionManagerLookup specified". I believe this error is because I don't have a proper configuration setting for hibernate.transaction.manager_lookup_class. I see that under the namespace of org.hibernate.transaction there are quite a few different lookup classes that I could use. All of the documentation that I could find on these was very vague. My question is what is the appropriate one for MySQL?

I looked at the svn repo url at http://www.liferay.com/web/brian.chan/blog/-/blogs/changes-to-anonymous-access-to-liferay-s-svn and then tried to get Liferay from their SVN repository in Eclipse, using svn://svn.liferay.com/repos/public --username guest,but i get the following error message: Error validating location: "org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException:No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. svn: Cant connect to host 'svn.liferay.com':No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it Any way to fix this ?
