I need a cache some objects with fairly heavy creation times, and I need exactly-once creation semantics. It should be possible to create objects for different CacheKeys concurrently. I think I need something that (under the hood) does something like this:
ConcurrentHashMap<CacheKey, Future<HeavyObject>>
Are there any existing open-source implementations of this that I can re-use ?
I would like to have direct access to the text inside a textbox on another form, so I added a public variable _txt to a form and added an event like so:
private void richTextBox1_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
_txt = richTextBox1.Text;
}
But the form is loaded like this:
public FrmTextChild(string text)
{
InitializeComponent();
_txt = text;
richTextBox1.Text = _txt;
Text = "Untitled.txt";
}
Is there a better way to directly link the two?
I have some places where implementing some sort of cache might be useful. For example in cases of doing resource lookups based on custom strings, finding names of properties using reflection, or to have only one PropertyChangedEventArgs per property name.
A simple example of the last one:
public static class Cache
{
private static Dictionary<string, PropertyChangedEventArgs> cache;
static Cache()
{
cache = new Dictionary<string, PropertyChangedEventArgs>();
}
public static PropertyChangedEventArgs GetPropertyChangedEventArgsa(string propertyName)
{
if (cache.ContainsKey(propertyName))
return cache[propertyName];
return cache[propertyName] = new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName);
}
}
But, will this work well? For example if we had a whole load of different propertyNames, that would mean we would end up with a huge cache sitting there never being garbage collected or anything. I'm imagining if what is cached are larger values and if the application is a long-running one, this might end up as kind of a problem... or what do you think? How should a good cache be implemented? Is this one good enough for most purposes? Any examples of some nice cache implementations that are not too hard to understand or way too complex to implement?
hi
function liveUpdate(fld,value,id) {
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'myurl.html',
data: { fld:value, 'id': id },
success: function(data){//console.log(data);
}
});
}
i want fld to be posted as fld's value not the variable name fld? i've tried to wrap around with eval but no luck
any ideas?
thanks
We've got our ETags and expiry headers setup properly and when browsing around the site without posting it is really very snappy. However, after any POST (which is almost invariably followed with a 302) you can see the browser re-request all the images. Is there something that could be causing this? Is there a setting that handles this?
I've built a Repository that gets user details
Public Function GetUserByOpenID(ByVal openid As String) As User Implements IUserRepository.GetUserByOpenID
Dim user = (From u In dc.Users
Where u.OpenID = openid
Select u).FirstOrDefault
Return user
End Function
And I'd like to be able to pull those details down IF the user is logged in AND IF the cached data is null.
What is the best way to create a User object that contains all of the users details, and persist it across the entire site for the duration of their visit?
I Was trying this in my Global.asax, but I'm not really happy using Session variables. I'd rather have a single object with all the details inside.
Private Sub BaseGlobal_AcquireRequestState(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.AcquireRequestState
If Session("UserName") Is Nothing AndAlso User.Identity.IsAuthenticated Then
Dim repo As UrbanNow.Core.IUserRepository = New UrbanNow.Core.UserRepository
Dim _user As New UrbanNow.Core.User
_user = repo.GetUserByOpenID(User.Identity.Name)
Session("UserName") = _user.UserName()
Session("UserID") = _user.ID
End If
End Sub

I have a string of a variable length and at the end of the string are some digits. What would be the best / efficient way, to parse the string and get the number from the end as an Integer?
The String and the digits at the end can can be of any length. For example:
abcd123 -- 123
abc12345 -- 12345
ab4cd1 -- 1
hello java guys,
im thinking of a simple java app (command line) that connects to the internet to download xml file, the problem is that my ubuntu is using a proxy to connect to internet with username and password (tru http_proxy ="http://:@:" ). So My question is, could it be possible to write a java app to use http_proxy variable? instead of programmatically setting http proxy and host in every app i will write.
I would like to use getDelayed on the PHP Memcached extension but I think it's not implemented in the right way.
Right now you ask for some keys and then retrieve all of them with fetch() and fetchAll(). But imagine a scenario where I need to retrieve 15 keys used in different parts of the page which I don't know in advance, but I can ask the various objects to give me the list. What I want is give the Memcached instance this list (each component would give its part) then later when I need them retrieve from the instance, but not all of them at once: each component would take the one it needs.
Basically if I were to implement this I would prohibit using getDelayed alone and implement a bookGet($keys) method where you would add the keys to book (which actually calls getDelayed), and redefine get to handle these three cases:
key is booked and retrieved - return the value;
key is booked but not retrieved - go and force the fetch of the booked keys and return the correct value;
key not booked - do a normal lookup.
I want to know if this makes sense, your thoughts on the subject and if someone already implemented this or maybe PECL Memcached already works this way and actually the documentation doesn't explain it correctly.
I have a JS file hosted on Amazon S3 (http://s3.amazonaws.com/wingify/vis_opt.js). I want the file to be cached on users' browsers so that they don't have to download it with every page view. However, in spite of setting Cache Control header I don't think it is getting cached. Browser still contacts Amazon Server with every pageview.
Here is the example of page where this script is embedded: http://myjugaad.in/
If you have Firebug, you will be able to see that browser requests it with every pageview.
What can I do so that the file gets permanently cached? Thanks for help.

Let's assume you have a big complex index page, that shows news articles and stuff. It's not going to change very often. Can you cache it somehow on the serverside, so requests don't force to server to dynamically generate the entire page every time someone visits it? Or does ASP.NET do this automatically?
If so, how does it know if something has changed?

I want to display a certain in the template only if a certain GET variable is set....I thought using {% if request.get.my_var %} would work, but it's not giving me the results.
