    - by dimitar
    Hello guys, i have a table with a column that contains Boolean type. now when i try to run a program i have a problem: System.out.println(table.getColumnClass(5)); b= (Boolean)table.getValueAt(row, 5); It prints class java.lang.Boolean but also: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to java.lang.Boolean and i even try with b= (Boolean)table.getValueAt(row, 5); b= Boolean.parseBoolean((String)table.getValueAt(row, 5)); b= table.getValueAt(row, 5); but those show error too. • input file cannot be found

    - by Eric Smith
    I am just messing around with reading input files with java until I got stumped at the most basic of steps... finding the input file! The input.txt file is in the same directory as my class file that is calling it yet eclipse still gives me an error that it cant be found: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem: Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException" My code: package pa; import java.util.Scanner; public class Project { public static void main(String[] args) { java.io.File file = new java.io.File("input.txt"); System.out.println(file.getAbsolutePath()); Scanner input = new Scanner(file); } } input.txt is in the same package, same folder and everything. I'm confused :(

  • Returning in a static class constructor

    - by Martijn Courteaux
    Hello, This isn't valid code: public class MyClass { private static boolean yesNo = false; static { if (yesNo) { System.out.println("Yes"); return; // The return statement is the problem } System.exit(0); } } This is a stupid example, but in a static class constructor we can't return;. Why? Are there good reasons for this? Does someone know something more about this? So the reason why I should do return is to end constructing there. Thanks

  • Logic differences in C and Java

    - by paragjain16
    Compile and run this code in C #include <stdio.h> int main() { int a[] = {10, 20, 30, 40, 50}; int index = 2; int i; a[index++] = index = index + 2; for(i = 0; i <= 4; i++) printf("%d\n", a[i]); } Output : 10 20 4 40 50 Now for the same logic in Java class Check { public static void main(String[] ar) { int a[] = {10, 20, 30, 40, 50}; int index = 2; a[index++] = index = index + 2; for(int i = 0; i <= 4; i++) System.out.println(a[i]); } } Output : 10 20 5 40 50 Why is there output difference in both languages, output is understandable for Java but I cannot understand output in C One more thing, if we apply the prefix ++ operator, we get the same result in both languages, why?

  • Uploadify uploadSettings with scripData does not work

    - by kubilayeksioglu
    Hi everyone, I am sending a file to my Java Servlet via jQuery Uploadify, there are no problems while sending the actual file. But when I try to send some scriptData with file along, to process on Servlet it just does not send anything. Here is the JS code: $("button").click(function(){ $("#uploadify").uploadifySettings('scriptData', {'length':'0.2'}); $('#uploadify').uploadifyUpload(); }); $('#uploadify').uploadify({ 'uploader': 'assets/uploadify/uploadify.swf', 'script': 'upload', 'folder': '/uploads' }); And here is the Servlet code on the server side: out.println(res.getParameter("length")); Only output I get is null, while expecting "0.2". I just cannot get what's wrong and any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Trying something like the below does not seem to work. public class TestNodeAliveness { public static NodeStatus nodeBIT(String elasticIP) throws ClientProtocolException, IOException { HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); client.getParams().setIntParameter("http.connection.timeout", 1); HttpUriRequest request = new HttpGet("http://192.168.20.43"); HttpResponse response = client.execute(request); System.out.println(response.toString()); return null; } public static void main(String[] args) throws ClientProtocolException, IOException { nodeBIT(""); } } -- EDIT: Clarify what library is being used -- I'm using httpclient from apache, here is the relevant pom.xml section org.apache.httpcomponents httpclient 4.0.1 jar

  • When is a scala partial function not a partial function?

    - by Fred Haslam
    While creating a map of String to partial functions I ran into unexpected behavior. When I create a partial function as a map element it works fine. When I allocate to a val it invokes instead. Trying to invoke the check generates an error. Is this expected? Am I doing something dumb? Comment out the check() to see the invocation. I am using scala 2.7.7 def PartialFunctionProblem() = { def dream()() = { println("~Dream~"); new Exception().printStackTrace() } val map = scala.collection.mutable.HashMap[String,()=>Unit]() map("dream") = dream() // partial function map("dream")() // invokes as expected val check = dream() // unexpected invocation check() // error: check of type Unit does not take parameters }

    - by Simon Guo

As follow: public class EccUDFLogLoader extends LoadFunc { @Override public InputFormat getInputFormat() { System.out.println("I am in getInputFormat function"); return new MyInputFormat(); } } public class MyInputFormat extends TextInputFormat { public RecordReader createRecordReader(InputSplit inputSplit, JobConf jobConf) throws IOException { System.out.prinln("I am in createRecordReader"); //MyRecordReader suppose to handle record boundary return new MyRecordReader((FileSplit)inputSplit, jobConf); } } For each mapper, it print out I am in getInputFormat function but not I am in createRecordReader. • Eclipse autocompletion problem

    - by Gene Marin
    Just installed Eclipse Helios (Win7 64) and I'm having a strange problem. I type syso-Ctrl-Space which is expected to complete to System.out.println("") but it doesn't work! I searched the web for about an hour now, I set Preferences Java Editor Content Assist to defaults, nothing. Everything else seems to work. Ideas? To be clear: the shortcut works, it completes everything except "syso" as seen so far, on syso (also tried sysout) it says "No Default Proposals". I couldn't find this kind of shortcuts in the Content Assist, but I set them to default anyway.

If that is the way to do it does anyone know how to do that on cygwin or will I have to build it? • deprecated readLine() What to change?

    - by user1681751
    I'm trying to get this to work in the eclipse, but the "readLine" is striked through and a notice says it is depreciated, the code works, albeit not the "while ((var2 = var5.readLine()) != null) {" bit.. So I'm wondering how to fix it, a java beginner. String var2 = ""; HttpURLConnection var3 = null; DataOutputStream var4 = null; DataInputStream var5 = null; ...more code here.... try { var5 = new DataInputStream(var3.getInputStream()); while ((var2 = var5.readLine()) != null) { System.out.println("Server Response " + var2); ScreenShotHelper.mc.thePlayer.addChatMessage("\u00a7aSuccessfully uploaded screenshot! Direct link:"); ScreenShotHelper.mc.thePlayer.addChatMessage("\u00a7a" + var2); } var5.close(); }

  • Local variables in java

    - by Mandar
    Hello , I went through local variables and class variables concept. But I had stuck at a doubt " Why is it so that we cannot declare local variables as static " ? For e.g Suppose we have a play( ) function : void play( ) { static int i=5; System.out.println(i); } It gives me error in eclipse : Illegal modifier for parameter i; I had this doubt because of the following concepts I have read : Variables inside method : scope is local i.e within that method. When variable is declared as static , it is present for the entire class i.e not to particular object. Please could anyone help me out to clarify the concept. Thanks.

  • Tricky Big-O complexity

    - by timeNomad
    public void foo (int n, int m) { int i = m; while (i > 100) i = i/3; for (int k=i ; k>=0; k--) { for (int j=1; j<n; j*=2) System.out.print(k + "\t" + j); System.out.println(); } } I figured the complexity would be O(logn). That is as a product of the inner loop, the outer loop -- will never be executed more than 100 times, so it can be omitted. What I'm not sure about is the while clause, should it be incorporated into the Big-O complexity? For very large i values it could make an impact, or arithmetic operations, doesn't matter on what scale, count as basic operations and can be omitted?
