  • Error creating ODBC connection to SQL Server 2008 Express

    When creating a System DSN, I get the error: Connection failed: SQLState: '08001' SQL Server Error: 2 [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2]. Connection failed: SQLState: 'HYT00' SQL Server Error: 0 [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Login timeout expired I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2, and installed SQL Server 2008 Express Advanced without errors. I'll be using the database locally for an app installed on the same PC. I'm able to successfully connect with SQL Server Management Studio using Windows Authentication (my Windows account is a member of local Administrators), and I can successfully create a database with default ownership (defaults to my Windows account). SQL Server Configuration Manager shows that Shared Memory, TCP/IP, and Named Pipes are enabled for SQL Native Client 10.0 Configuration, SQL Native Client 10.0 Configuration (32bit), and SQL Server Network Configuration (SQLEXPRESS). The SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SQLEXPRESS) services are running. When I create a system DSN, my driver choices are SQL server (sqlsrv32.dll 4-10-09), which gives a generic wizard, and SQL Server Native Client 10.0 (sqlncli10.dll 7-10-08), which gives the SQL Server 2008 wizard. I choose the latter. I enter name, description, and have tried both MyPCName and 127.0.0.1 for the server name (browsing turns up nothing). After clicking Next, I leave it at Integrated Windows authentication, and leave Connect to server for additional options checked. After clicking Next, I get the error above. I know it's probably a simple answer, (permission issue?) and I'm a SQL noob, so I appreciate anything that would point me in the right direction. Thanks!

    I am trying to connect to my MSSQL server 2008 web instance and im failing horribly... i get the error 26 and before you jump on me i have done these Check the spelling of the SQL Server instance name that is specified in the connection string. Use the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration tool to enable SQL Server to accept remote connections over the TCP or named pipes protocols. For more information about the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration Tool, see Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections. Make sure that you have configured the firewall on the server instance of SQL Server to open ports for SQL Server and the SQL Server Browser port (UDP 1434). Make sure that the SQL Server Browser service is started on the server. in addition to theese i have disabled the firewall completely and tried other ports nothing works the same credentials work on the server but not on the client. this is the exact error message A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) Can anybody help?

I tried to separate my project on two parts with SvnDumpFilter and encountered an error because some folders (includeing the one I want to separate) had been moved.   • Server side rules in Outlook 2007

    Using Outlook 2007 with an Exchange Server. I am trying to setup a server-side rule, but regardless of what I do, it always sets up a client-only rule. I am trying to copy a message to a folder if it comes from a certain person and the subject contains certain words. What am I missing? Update: It seems that setting the rule to mark the message read-only forces the message to be client-side. Anyway to get around that?

    I got the home and remote office users connect to the Terminal Server on my Windows Server 2003 that I published securely through Juniper SSL VPN client applet, they use normal internet connection to access the link which pop up the Terminal Server Remote Desktop application, so my question is, how can they print out the document from within their terminal server session ? if it is going through the internal office LAN mapping the printer through Remote Desktop connection is the solution but not for this one. Any kind of help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    I just received my new SQL Server from Dell. The server will be serve approximately 15 OLTP databases which average 10GB in size. Here are the basic specs: Dell PowerEdge R510 with up to 12 Hot Swap HDDs,LED Intel Xeon E5649 2.53GHz, 12M Cache, 5.86 GT/s QPI, 6 core (Quantity of 2) 48GB Memory (6x8GB), 1333MHz Dual Ranked RDIMMs for 2 Processors, Optimized PERC H700 Integrated RAID Controller, 1GB NV Cache 300GB 15K RPM SA SCSI 6Gbps 3.5in Hotplug Hard Drive (Quantity of 4) 600GB 15K RPM SA SCSI 6Gbps 3.5in Hotplug Hard Drive (Quantity of 6) My first thought was to use 3 arrays. OS - Raid 1 - (2)300GB T-Log - Raid 1 (2)300GB DB - Raid 5 (5) 600GB Backup - (1) 600GB - non-raided. However, I could also do the following after purchasing one more drive for backup. OS and T-Log - Raid 10 - (4)300GB DB - Raid 10 (6)600GB The hard drive space is not an issue as the databases are not that large. I'm just trying to optimize the speed of the applications using these databases. So, what would you guys recommend?

  • Problem with MVC3 application

    I am working on MVC3 application. I use entity framework, NInject, Fluent Validation and some more Nuget packages. I am using Tortoise SVN for versioning. Recently I changed the structure of my SVN repository, so my working copy of MVC3 app was moved to some different folder in the repository. Now when I checked out the copy from SVN, all the references that I had added through Nuget were lost(EF, NInject and rest nuget packages were showing yellow missing icon in references). This had happened to me prior to this also, when I tried to check out the app from svn to some other folder. I had to manually add all the references again through Nuget again. Am I doing anything wrong? Please guide. I hope I could explain my problem properly.

Are there any practical advantages for a developer that has to synchronize with a centralized repository?

  • pam_unix(sshd:session) session opened for user NOT ROOT by (uid=0), then closes immediately using using TortiseSVN

    I'm having problems accessing an SVN repository using TortoiseSVN 1.7.8. The SVN repository is on a CentOS 6.3 box and appears to be functioning correctly. # svnadmin --version # svnadmin, version 1.6.11 (r934486) I can access the repository from another CentOS box with this command: svn list svn+ssh://[email protected]/var/svn/joetest But when I attempt to browse the repository using TortiseSVN from a Win 7 workstation I'm unable to do so using the following path: svn+ssh://[email protected]/var/svn/joetest I'm able to login via SSH from the workstation using Putty. The results are the same if I attempt access as root. I've given ownership of the repository to USER:USER and ran chmod 2700 -R /var/svn/. Because I can access the repository via ssh from another Linux box, permissions don't appear to be the problem. When I watch the log file using tail -fn 2000 /var/log/secure, I see the following each time TortiseSVN asks for the password: Sep 26 17:34:31 dev sshd[30361]: Accepted password for USER from xx.xxx.xx.xxx port 59101 ssh2 Sep 26 17:34:31 dev sshd[30361]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user USER by (uid=0) Sep 26 17:34:31 dev sshd[30361]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed for user USER I'm actually able to login, but the session is then closed immediately. It caught my eye that the session is being opened for USER by root (uid=0), which may be correct, but I'll mention it in case it has something to do with the problem. I looked into modifying the svnserve.conf, but as far as I can tell, it's not used when accessing the repository via svn+ssh, a private svnserve instance is created for each log in via this method. From the manual: There's still a third way to invoke svnserve, and that's in “tunnel mode”, with the -t option. This mode assumes that a remote-service program such as RSH or SSH has successfully authenticated a user and is now invoking a private svnserve process as that user. The svnserve program behaves normally (communicating via stdin and stdout), and assumes that the traffic is being automatically redirected over some sort of tunnel back to the client. When svnserve is invoked by a tunnel agent like this, be sure that the authenticated user has full read and write access to the repository database files. (See Servers and Permissions: A Word of Warning.) It's essentially the same as a local user accessing the repository via file:/// URLs. The only non-default settings in sshd_config are: Protocol 2 # to disable Protocol 1 SyslogFacility AUTHPRIV ChallengeResponseAuthentication no GSSAPIAuthentication yes GSSAPICleanupCredentials yes UsePAM yes AcceptEnv LANG LC_CTYPE LC_NUMERIC LC_TIME LC_COLLATE LC_MONETARY LC_MESSAGES AcceptEnv LC_PAPER LC_NAME LC_ADDRESS LC_TELEPHONE LC_MEASUREMENT AcceptEnv LC_IDENTIFICATION LC_ALL LANGUAGE AcceptEnv XMODIFIERS X11Forwarding no Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server Any thoughts?

  • SVN, Samba and Symbolic Links. How to get them all to play together?

    I've got a website project under version control that relies on files from an unversioned directory on the same server via Symbolic Links. I'm currently storing the symbolic links in the repository. The idea is that if someone checks out a working copy on to the same server they can edit and test the working copy of the project before committing it back to the repository. When they checkout their working copy it successfully sets up the symlinks so that the entire site works when testing. The users that work on the project are Windows users, so I've set a samba shares on the server and then mapped them to network drives in Windows. People can edit their working copies directly on the server via network shares and then test them in the web browser before committing their changes back to the repository via TortoiseSVN. The Problem The problem I have is that Samba resolves the symlinks as expected but when a user tries to commit their changes back to the repository, TortoiseSVN thinks the linked files are part of the project and tries to commit the target files to the repository and not the symlinks themselves. I tried turning off symlink support in samba which means that the linked files cannot be resolved as I don't really want people to have access to the linked files nor do I want to import the linked files in the repository. The problem with this is that I get Can't stat '\webserver\projects\working\project\symlinked_file.php'. Access is denied Apart from the symlink problem everything else works 100% perfectly. Users can either checkout website projects to their machine and work on them (but can't test) or checkout them out to their space on the dev web server and work on them and fully test. So I don't want to change the workflow process, I just need a solution to the symbolic link issue. Many thanks.     I have Windows Server 2003 running in a virtual machine, running some software that is trying to update a database within transactions on my Windows 7 machine (the host for the VM). On my host I have edited the settings for Local DTC by selecting the following Client and Administration Allow Remote clients Allow Remote administration Transaction manager communication Allow inbound Allow outbound No authentication required However when I try to run the software I receive this error: MSDTC on server 'x' is unavailable. Whilst searching for fixes most just suggest making sure the service is running which I have. Cheers!

There is no redirect and there is still a HTTP request working at /svn/(projectname)/(somefolder) . This SSL-enforce-policy should work for - viewing the contents with webbrowser - retrieve contents with TurtoiseSVN client - committing contents with TurtoiseSVN client Can you please help me?   • Set Default Program for All Users on Server

    I work with a large server environment that's running Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012 now on some boxes. We have a custom-built log viewer program that associates with two file types that I'd like to set to be the default program for all users across all boxes, so new users don't have to set the default program themselves on every box they log into. Ideally I'd like to have a simple registry script we could push out to all machines at once. I realize this likely means changing the registry entries for either HKCR or HKLM for the file extensions, but adding the program location with %1 extension to \shell\open\command value in HKLM simply opens the program and does not also load the log file. Am I just missing an open and play setting, or am I looking at this entirely wrong? (And I know the script will need to be different for 2003 and 2008, but changing the version for two scripts isn't hard) Thanks!

  • How to get files that have been added/modifed in a batch file

    I have the following batch file which concatenates all of the files in a folder that have a .sql ending. set func=%~dp0%Stored Procedures\*.sql for %%i in (%func%) do type "%%i" >>InstallScript.sql We use SVN as our repository, and we're using branching. Currently the script concatenates all the .sql files, even the ones that haven't changed. I'd like to change it so it only concatenates files that have been modified and/or created after the branch was created. We can do that by looking at the datetime on the .svn folder in each folder(there's a Stored Procedure, View, Function subfolders). But I don't know how to do that with batch files. Ideally something like this(psuedo code): set func=%~dp0%Stored Procedures\*.sql set branchDateTime=GetDateTime(%~dp0%.svn) <- Gets the datetime when the .svn folder was created for %%i in (%func%) { if(%%i.LastModifiedOrCreated > branchDateTime) do type "%%i" >> InstallScript.sql }
