  • Icons in windows 8 changed automatically

    The icons of my folders in Windows 8 have changed automatically ! Now it is similar to that of the Unknown File Type icon. My C: drive icon and some icons in the Explorer-Home menu had also changed, but they became normal after a restart. But the folder icons (Medium Size) don't change. This is also seen in the "Save Dialog"-box. Please help, Thanks in advance... Here are the Images: (originals Image 1 , Image 2)

  • Update Windows XP to SP3 without internet

    I've been asked to update some computers running Windows XP (without any service packs) to Windows XP SP3. The computers don't have an internet connection (only a small intranet) and have never been updated since first install. Do I need to install SP1a first, then SP2, then SP3, or can I install SP3 immediately? And where do I find the right files, that don't require an internet connection during installation? All help is welcome. Thanks!

  • Ubuntu 10.04 boot splash screen and themes broken

    I recently upgraded to the release candidate of Ubuntu 10.04. Since then, two problems have occurred and persisted: the boot splash screen has reduced down to a black screen with random color blocks/text/gibberish at the top; and the themes are broken, as in the light themes have checkboxes in menus the same color as the background, and the dark themes don't correctly change the font colors in the top menu. Help? On a side note, is there a need to upgrade from 10.04 RC to LTS?

  • NFS host is not exporting the "share"

    I have a NFS Server: usanfsd01 And a remote machine: usafssd01 I tried mounting a directory from usafssd01 onto usanfsd01 by adding the following line to /etc/fstab as root usanfsdo1:/home/dblogs /home/data/dblogs nfs rw 0 0 And when I run the following command to see if NFS is exporting the share, it's not shown showmount -e usanfsdo1 Can someone please help? Also, a point of interest would be there is another mount that works on the same servers and thats defined as below in the /etc/fstab usanfsdo1:/home/files /home/data/files nfs rw 0 0 /etc/exports /nfs/home/dblogs 'IPADDRESS'(rw,no_root_squash)

  • Is ther an email client optimized for screen readers and accessiblity?

    Hi. I'm currently working on a project to help visually impaired people. We're planning to use Orca screen reader for gnome. Everything is doing great but there is a problem with email web clients the most popular ones(gmail, yahoo, hotmail) are not optimized for screen readers. Is there some kind of simple email client optimized for this? Need to be very simple and straight foward and support multiple users too.

  • Google Chrome pops up "Your preferences can not be read" upon startup

    Had a power outage. After restarting the computer, now whenever I start Google Chrome, a window pops up "Your preferences can not be read. Some features may be unavailable and changes to preferences won't be saved." Nothing whatsoever in Chrome Help nor in the Chrome Forums as to how to fix the problem. How can this be resolved? Additional edit: Uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome does NOT fix the problem.

  • Bacula optimization/profiling tools

    I'm trying to get an idea of where the bottlenecks are in our backup system. Are there tools available for profiling this? If not, any pointers to a home grown method would also help. I guess most of the info would be in the bacula logs, but I'd also like to see things like what gets saturated during despooling: disk, CPU or network? This feels like a problem most bacula admins would have encountered.

  • Can't get samba to see other PCs in Kubuntu 10.04 (Lucid)

    I'm new to networking. I'm trying to share a folder between to computers (both have kubuntu 10.04 installed). I'm able to share a folder with samba and can see that folder through samba on the same computer. But if I try to go on the other PC I can't see the first one. Both PCs are on the "workgroup" workgroup. I've tried disabling the firewall with firestarter can somebody help me? thanks

  • MySQL database Int overflow and can’t login in.

    I have a MySQL database on my server and I"m pretty sure it's an int over flow on one table with an auto_increment field that's crashing it. I can delete the table, it's not very important, but I can't get into the server. Is there anyway to delete that database from the file system or without logging into MySQL? HELP! THE WORLD IS ENDING!

Now Everything is set and I want to edit grub to set windows 7 as my default os when I run this command gksudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst I get an error that No such file or Directory found` then I tried this sudo grub find /boot/grub/stage1 I get an error No File found.     I tried to follow this tutorial frome ghacks.net. But I end up with a bug. Everytime I try to change the desktop background or the theme. It opens up lots of folders. And then close it back again. So I cannot do anything when I try to change the background or the theme to the default. Here is the tutorial And I can't even shutdown my machine now, please help.

  • Apache shuts down from time to time

    I'm having trouble with my VPS as it keeps shutting apache down at least twice a day. The server is running on CentOS 6 with the latest apache. By shutting down I mean I have to go into SSH and type in this command in order to bring it up again: /sbin/service httpd start I'm not very good with servers and my host doesn't seem to have a nice customer service. Any help would be appreciated as these unexpected downtimes really know to kill one's mood.

So will it run without any problems or i need to upgrade the video cards or something too ? The computer is not that much old it has P4 bord and celeron processor with 128 graphics memory . And in properties it shows i can maximum use 1280 x 1024 resolution. I am noob hardware wise So need help on this stuff. Thanks

    HI, I follow your istruction and everythig works. I have an DHCP server than it assign "Ip client" without gateway. Internet with IE or Firefox Browser works but FTP service doesn't work. In squid.conf I have put a line: acl Safe_ports port 80 21 443 389 5307 8080 3144 8282 88 8443 20443 11438 1443 8050 30021 10443 4747 4774 1384 Have I to put gateway in DHCP Server?     Have configured my asa 5520 with all the interfaces inside -- 10.11.12.1 outside - 70.71.72.4 Have not connected the management interface ..left it as is. Im remotely accessing this firewall from a different location by SSH, but would like to use the asdm to access it remotely. I have configured the HTTP SERVER enable and assigned http 10.11.12.254 255.255.255.255 inside Please can someone let me know the config which can help me access this firewall using ASDM.
