  • JDBC transaction dead-lock solution required?

    - by user49767
    It's a scenario described my friend and challenged to find solution. He is using Oracle database and JDBC connection with read committed as transaction isolation level. In one of the transaction, he updates a record and executes selects statement and commits the transaction. when everything happening within single thread, things are fine. But when multiple requests are handled, dead-lock happens. Thread-A updates a record. Thread B updates another record. Thread-A issues select statement and waits for Thread-B's transaction to complete the commit operation. Thread-B issues select statement and waits for Thread-A's transaction to complete the commit operation. Now above causes dead-lock. Since they use command pattern, the base framework allows to issue commit only once (at the end of all the db operation), so they are unable to issue commit immediately after select statement. My argument was Thread-A supposed to select all the records which are committed and hence should not be issue. But he said that Thread-A will surely wait till Thread-B commits the record. is that true? What are all the ways, to avoid the above issue? is it possible to change isolation-level? (without changing underlying java framework) Little information about base framework, it is something similar to Struts action, their each and every request handled by one action, transaction begins before execution and commits after execution.

  • How do I use Perl's LWP to log in to a web application?

    - by maxjackie
    I would like to write a script to login to a web application and then move to other parts of the application: use HTTP::Request::Common qw(POST); use LWP::UserAgent; use Data::Dumper; $ua = LWP::UserAgent->new(keep_alive=>1); my $req = POST "http://example.com:5002/index.php", [ user_name => 'username', user_password => "password", module => 'Users', action => 'Authenticate', return_module => 'Users', return_action => 'Login', ]; my $res = $ua->request($req); print Dumper(\$res); if ( $res->is_success ) { print $res->as_string; } When I try this code I am not able to login to the application. The HTTP status code returned is 302 that is found, but with no data. If I post username/password with all required things then it should return the home page of the application and keep the connection live to move other parts of the application.

  • Java getInputStream 400 errors

    - by Bill Szerdy
    When I contact a web service using a Java HttpUrlConnection it just returns a 400 Bad Request (IOException). How do I get the XML information that the server is returning; it does not appear to be in the getErrorStream of the connection nor is it in any of the exception information. When I run the following PHP code against a web service: <?php $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "https://www.myclientaddress.com/here/" ); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1 ); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST,1 ); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS,"username=ted&password=scheckler&type=consumer&id=123456789&zip=12345"); $result=curl_exec ($ch); echo $result; ?> it returns the following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <response> <status>failure</status> <errors> <error name="RES_ZIP">Zip code is not valid.</error> <error name="ZIP">Invalid zip code for residence address.</error> </errors> </response> so I know the information exists

  • how to store/model users/faceboook users/linkedin users, etc, with ActiveRecord?

    - by crankharder
    My app has "normal" users: those which come through a typical signup page facebook(FB) users: those which come from Facebook connect "FB-normal" users: a user that can log with both email/password * FB connect Further, there's the a slew of other openID-ish login methods (I don't think openID itself will be acceptable since it doesn't link up the accounts and allow the 3rd party specific features (posting to twitter, adding a FB post, etc etc)) So, how do I model this? Right now we have User class with #facebook_user? defined -- but it gets messy with the "FB-normal" users - plus all the validations become very tricky and hard to interpret. Also, there are methods like #deliver_password_reset! which make no sense in the context for facebook-only users. (this is lame) I've thought out STI (User::Facebook, User::Normal, User::FBNormal, etc.) This makes validations super slick, but it doesn't scale to other connection types, and all the permutations between them... User::FacebookLinkedInNormal(wtf?) Doing this with a bunch of modules I think would suck a lot. Any other ideas?

  • How to Connect to a web service (SSL enabled and proxy interface)

    - by blgnklc
    There is a web service running on tomcat on a server. It is built on Java Servlet. It is listening others to call itself on a SSL enabled http port. so its web service adreess looks like: https://172.29.12.12/axis/services/XYZClient?wsdl On the other hand I want to connect the web service above from a windows application which is built on .NET frame work. Finally, when I want to connect the web service from my computer; I get some specific erros; Firstly I get; Proxy authentication error; then I added some new line to my code; Dim cr As System.Net.NetworkCredential = New System.Net.NetworkCredential("xname", "xsurname", "xdomainname") Dim myProxy As New WebProxy("http://mar.xxxyyy.com", True) myProxy.Credentials = cr Secondly, after this modifications It says that bad request. I did not get over this error. Moreover I did try to connect the web server on the same computer. I copied my executable program to the computer where the web service runs. The error was like; The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for SSL/TLS secure channel PS: When I try to connect to web service by using Internet Explorer; I see firstly some warnings about accepting an unknown certificate and I click take me to web service an I get there clearly. I want to know what are the basic elements to connect a web service, could you please tell me the requirements that I have to use on my windows project. regards bk

  • Work around for MessageNotReadableException in Java

    - by Hari
    Hi, I am building a small api around the JMS API for a project of mine. Essentially, we are building code that will handle the connection logic, and will simplify publishing messages by providing a method like Client.send(String message). One of the ideas being discussed right now is that we provide a means for the users to attach interceptors to this client. We will apply the interceptors after preparing the JMS message and before publishing it. For example, if we want to timestamp a message and wrote an interceptor for that, then this is how we would apply that ...some code ... Message message = session.createMessage() ..do all the current processing on the message and set the body for(interceptor:listOfInterceptors){ interceptor.apply(message) } One of the intrerceptors we though of was to compress the message body. But when we try to read the body of the message in the interceptor, we are getting a MessageNotReadableException. In the past, I normally compressed the content before setting it as the body of the message - so never had to worry about this exception. Is there any way of getting around this exception?

  • How to handle image/gif type response on client side using GWT

    - by user200340
    Hi all, I have a question about how to handle image/gif type response on client side, any suggestion will be great. There is a service which responds for retrieving image (only one each time at the moment) from database. The code is something like, JDBC Connection Construct MYSQL query. Execute query If has ResultSet, retrieve first one { //save image into Blob image, “img” is the only entity in the image table. image = rs.getBlob("img"); } response.setContentType("image/gif"); //set response type InputStream in = image.getBinaryStream(); //output Blob image to InputStream int bufferSize = 1024; //buffer size byte[] buffer = new byte[bufferSize]; //initial buffer int length =0; //read length data from inputstream and store into buffer while ((length = in.read(buffer)) != -1) { out.write(buffer, 0, length); //write into ServletOutputStream } in.close(); out.flush(); //write out The code on client side .... imgform.setAction(GWT.getModuleBaseURL() + "serviceexample/ImgRetrieve"); .... ClickListener { OnClick, then imgform.submit(); } formHandler { onSubmit, form validation onSubmitComplete ??????? //handle response, and display image **Here is my question, i had tried Image img = new Image(GWT.getHostPageBaseURL() +"serviceexample/ImgRetrieve"); mg.setSize("300", "300"); imgpanel.add(img); but i only got a non-displayed image with 300X300 size.** } So, how should i handle the responde in this case? Thanks,

  • Why does my Jabber bot only work if I'm debugging my Perl script?

    - by TheGNUGuy
    I am trying to make a jabber bot from scratch and my script is acting funny. I was originally developing the bot on a remote CentOS box, but I have switched to a local Win7 machine. Right now I'm using ActiveState Perl and I'm using Eclipse with the Perl plugin to run a debug the script. The funny behavior I'm experiencing occurs when I run or debug the script. If I run the script using the debugger it works fine, meaning I can send messages to the bot and it can send messages to me. However when I just execute the script normally the bot sends the successful connection message then it disconnects from my jabber server and the script ends. I'm a novice when it comes to Perl and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. My guess is it has something to do with the subroutines and sending the presence of the bot. (I know for sure that it has something to do with sending the bot's presence because if the presence code is removed, the script behaves as expected except the bot doesn't appear to be online.) If anyone can help me with this that would be great. I originally had everything in 1 file but separated them into several trying to figure out my problem here are the pastebin links to my source code. jabberBot.pl: http://pastebin.com/cVifv0mm chatRoutine.pm: http://pastebin.com/JXmMT7av trimSpaces.pm: http://pastebin.com/SkeuWtu1 Thanks again for any help!

  • Unable to HTTP PUT with libcurl

    I'm trying to PUT data using libcurl to mimic the command curl -u test:test -X PUT --data-binary @data.yaml "http://127.0.0.1:8000/foo/" which works correctly. My options look like: curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "test:test"); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_URL, "http://127.0.0.1:8000/foo/"); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, 1); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_UPLOAD, 1); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_READFUNCTION, read_data); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_READDATA, &yaml); curl_easy_setopt(handle, CURLOPT_INFILESIZE, yaml.size()); curl_easy_perform(handle); I believe the read_data function works correctly, but if you ask, I'll post that code. I'm using Django with django-piston, and my update function is never called! (It is called when I use the command line version above.) libcurl's output is: * About to connect() to 127.0.0.1 port 8000 (#0) * Trying 127.0.0.1... * connected * Connected to 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) port 8000 (#0) * Server auth using Basic with user 'test' > PUT /foo/ HTTP/1.1 Authorization: Basic dGVzdDp0ZXN0 Host: 127.0.0.1:8000 Accept: */* Content-Length: 244 Expect: 100-continue * Done waiting for 100-continue ** this is where my read_data handler confirms: read 244 bytes ** * HTTP 1.0, assume close after body < HTTP/1.0 400 BAD REQUEST < Date: Thu, 13 May 2010 08:22:52 GMT < Server: WSGIServer/0.1 Python/2.5.1 < Vary: Authorization < Content-Type: text/plain < Bad Request* Closing connection #0

  • Can't see *all* databases in a remote SQL Server instance

    - by George
    Yesterday I posted a related question on StackOverflow. This problem involved not being able to see a SQL Server 2008 instance on another PC. I am not sure why adding the port number enabled me to see a SQL Server that I could not otherwise see, since the port number that I specified was, after all, the default port. Now I notice that I have another problem. While I can connect to the remote SQL 2008 Server instance, I cannot see all the databases in the instance. I am trying to connect to the 2008 instance from another PC using SQL Server 2008 Mgt Studio. I am connecting from a Windows 7 Ultimate PC to a Windows XP Pro PC. I suspect that my problem has something to do with not all database in the remote instance having the same version. For example, I "upgraded" a a SL 2005 database to 2008 by doing a backup frm 2005 and importing it into 2008. When I realized that this was not one of the database that I could see from my other PC, I noticed that the compatability level of the imported was still 2005, so I changed it to 2008. Still I could not see the database. I am sure that this is relevant: I just noticed that on my remote server, the sql node instance node, named "sql2008" says "version 10" when I am on the remote serfver, but when I connect to the sql2008 remote instance fron my local PC, the connection is shown locally as being a "SQL Servr version 8.0" instance. I suspect that locally, I am only being shown databases that are somehow in the remote 2008 instance but have not been upgraded. I guess I don't know what constitutes an upgraded database and I don not know who to connect to see all the databases, even if this requires multiple connections from the source PC.

  • How to change internal buffer size of DataInputStream

    - by Gaks
    I'm using this kind of code for my TCP/IP connection: sock = new Socket(host, port); sock.setKeepAlive(true); din = new DataInputStream(sock.getInputStream()); dout = new DataOutputStream(sock.getOutputStream()); Then, in separate thread I'm checking din.available() bytes to see if there are some incoming packets to read. The problem is, that if a packet bigger than 2048 bytes arrives, the din.available() returns 2048 anyway. Just like there was a 2048 internal buffer. I can't read those 2048 bytes when I know it's not the full packet my application is waiting for. If I don't read it however - it'll all stuck at 2048 bytes and never receive more. Can I enlarge the buffer size of DataInputStream somehow? Socket receive buffer is 16384 as returned by sock.getReceiveBufferSize() so it's not the socket limiting me to 2048 bytes. If there is no way to increase the DataInputStream buffer size - I guess the only way is to declare my own buffer and read everything from DataInputStream to that buffer? Regards

  • Qt cross thread call

    - by QLatvia
    I have a Qt/C++ application, with the usual GUI thread, and a network thread. The network thread is using an external library, which has its own select() based event loop... so the network thread isn't using Qt's event system. At the moment, the network thread just emit()s signals when various events occur, such as a successful connection. I think this works okay, as the signals/slots mechanism posts the signals correctly for the GUI thread. Now, I need for the network thread to be able to call the GUI thread to ask questions. For example, the network thread may require the GUI thread to request put up a dialog, to request a password. Does anyone know a suitable mechanism for doing this? My current best idea is to have the network thread wait using a QWaitCondition, after emitting an object (emit passwordRequestedEvent(passwordRequest);. The passwordRequest object would have a handle on the particular QWaitCondition, and so can signal it when a decision has been made.. Is this sort of thing sensible? or is there another option?

  • PHP returns invalid MySQL resource

When I polled the whole database I got hundreds of results so I know that the database and connection data is fine, and the field DepartureDate exists too.

  • Confusion on C++ Python extensions. Things like getting C++ values for python values.

    - by Matthew Mitchell
    I'm wanted to convert some of my python code to C++ for speed but it's not as easy as simply making a C++ function and making a few function calls. I have no idea how to get a C++ integer from a python integer object. I have an integer which is an attribute of an object that I want to use. I also have integers which are inside a list in the object which I need to use. I wanted to test making a C++ extension with this function: def setup_framebuffer(surface,flip=False): #Create texture if not done already if surface.texture is None: create_texture(surface) #Render child to parent if surface.frame_buffer is None: surface.frame_buffer = glGenFramebuffersEXT(1) glBindFramebufferEXT(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_EXT, c_uint(int(surface.frame_buffer))) glFramebufferTexture2DEXT(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_EXT, GL_COLOR_ATTACHMENT0_EXT, GL_TEXTURE_2D, surface.texture, 0) glPushAttrib(GL_VIEWPORT_BIT) glViewport(0,0,surface._scale[0],surface._scale[1]) glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION) glLoadIdentity() #Load the projection matrix if flip: gluOrtho2D(0,surface._scale[0],surface._scale[1],0) else: gluOrtho2D(0,surface._scale[0],0,surface._scale[1]) That function calls create_texture, so I will have to pass that function to the C++ function which I will do with the third argument. This is what I have so far, while trying to follow information on the python documentation: #include <Python.h> #include <GL/gl.h> static PyMethodDef SpamMethods[] = { ... {"setup_framebuffer", setup_framebuffer, METH_VARARGS,"Loads a texture from a Surface object to the OpenGL framebuffer."}, ... {NULL, NULL, 0, NULL} /* Sentinel */ }; static PyObject * setup_framebuffer(PyObject *self, PyObject *args){ bool flip; PyObject *create_texture, *arg_list,*pyflip,*frame_buffer_id; if (!PyArg_ParseTuple(args, "OOO", &surface,&pyflip,&create_texture)){ return NULL; } if (PyObject_IsTrue(pyflip) == 1){ flip = true; }else{ flip = false; } Py_XINCREF(create_texture); //Create texture if not done already if(texture == NULL){ arglist = Py_BuildValue("(O)", surface) result = PyEval_CallObject(create_texture, arglist); Py_DECREF(arglist); if (result == NULL){ return NULL; } Py_DECREF(result); } Py_XDECREF(create_texture); //Render child to parent frame_buffer_id = PyObject_GetAttr(surface, Py_BuildValue("s","frame_buffer")) if(surface.frame_buffer == NULL){ glGenFramebuffersEXT(1,frame_buffer_id); } glBindFramebufferEXT(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_EXT, surface.frame_buffer)); glFramebufferTexture2DEXT(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_EXT, GL_COLOR_ATTACHMENT0_EXT, GL_TEXTURE_2D, surface.texture, 0); glPushAttrib(GL_VIEWPORT_BIT); glViewport(0,0,surface._scale[0],surface._scale[1]); glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); glLoadIdentity(); //Load the projection matrix if (flip){ gluOrtho2D(0,surface._scale[0],surface._scale[1],0); }else{ gluOrtho2D(0,surface._scale[0],0,surface._scale[1]); } Py_INCREF(Py_None); return Py_None; } PyMODINIT_FUNC initcscalelib(void){ PyObject *module; module = Py_InitModule("cscalelib", Methods); if (m == NULL){ return; } } int main(int argc, char *argv[]){ /* Pass argv[0] to the Python interpreter */ Py_SetProgramName(argv[0]); /* Initialize the Python interpreter.   • MAPI find the contacts and calendar folder

    - by Rogier21

I want to go fetch ALL items from the calendars and contacts so I use: /** * Create outlook application */ Outlook.Application oApp = new Outlook.Application(); Outlook.NameSpace oNS = oApp.GetNamespace("mapi"); oNS.Logon(Missing.Value, Missing.Value, true, true); /** * Loop through all the folders */ foreach (Outlook.MAPIFolder oFolder in oNS.Folders) { if (oFolder.Name == "Public Folders") { break; } /** * Get calendar items */ //Outlook.MAPIFolder oCalendar = oNS.GetDefaultFolder(Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderCalendar); Outlook.MAPIFolder oCalendar = oFolder.Folders[5]; Outlook.Items oCalendarItems = oCalendar.Items; //Outlook.MAPIFolder oContacts = oNS.GetDefaultFolder(Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderContacts); Outlook.MAPIFolder oContacts = oFolder.Folders[7]; Outlook.Items oContactItems = oContacts.Items; But this does not work oFolder.Folders[5] is not always 5 for the calendar, sometimes it's a different value. I cannot find the items by name oFolder.Folders["Calendar"]; because in Dutch the folder will be named "Agenda". Usually I use: Outlook.MAPIFolder oCalendar = oNS.GetDefaultFolder(Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderCalendar); But then I only get the default calendar. How can I get the other calendars?

  • OSMF seek with Amazon Cloudfront

    - by giorrrgio
    I've written a little OSMF player that streams via RTMP from Amazon Cloudfront. There's a known issue, the mp3 duration is not correctly readed from metadata and thus the seek function is not working. I know there's a workaround implying the use of getStreamLength function of NetConnection, which I successfully implemented in a previous non-OSMF player, but now I don't know how and when to call it, in terms of OSMF Events and Traits. This code is not working: protected function initApp():void { //the pointer to the media var resource:URLResource = new URLResource( STREAMING_PATH ); // Create a mediafactory instance mediaFactory = new DefaultMediaFactory(); //creates and sets the MediaElement (generic) with a resource and path element = mediaFactory.createMediaElement( resource ); var loadTrait:NetStreamLoadTrait = element.getTrait(MediaTraitType.LOAD) as NetStreamLoadTrait; loadTrait.addEventListener(LoaderEvent.LOAD_STATE_CHANGE, _onLoaded); player = new MediaPlayer( element ); //Marker 5: Add MediaPlayer listeners for media size and current time change player.addEventListener( DisplayObjectEvent.MEDIA_SIZE_CHANGE, _onSizeChange ); player.addEventListener( TimeEvent.CURRENT_TIME_CHANGE, _onProgress ); initControlBar(); } private function onGetStreamLength(result:Object):void { Alert.show("The stream length is " + result + " seconds"); duration = Number(result); } private function _onLoaded(e:LoaderEvent):void { if (e.newState == LoadState.READY) { var loadTrait:NetStreamLoadTrait = player.media.getTrait(MediaTraitType.LOAD) as NetStreamLoadTrait; if (loadTrait && loadTrait.netStream) { var responder:Responder = new Responder(onGetStreamLength); loadTrait.connection.call("getStreamLength", responder, STREAMING_PATH); } } }

    - by alex
    This is the most peculiar thing. It is from an old in house CMS. When I attempt to submit my changes, it prompts to save the file linked in the action attribute of the form. Headers Request POST /~site/edit/articles/article_save.php?id=54 HTTP/1.1 Host: example.com User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 115 Connection: keep-alive Referer: http://example.com Content-Type: multipart/form-data; boundary=---------------------------10102754414578508781458777923 Content-Length: 940 -----------------------------10102754414578508781458777923 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="title" Home Content -----------------------------10102754414578508781458777923 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="catid" 18 -----------------------------10102754414578508781458777923 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="activecheck" 1 -----------------------------10102754414578508781458777923 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="image" -----------------------------10102754414578508781458777923 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="contentWidgToolbarSelectBlock" <p> -----------------------------10102754414578508781458777923 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="content" <p>Edit your article in this text box.</p> -----------------------------10102754414578508781458777923 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="contentWidgEditor" true -----------------------------10102754414578508781458777923-- Response HTTP/0.9 200 OK And then Firefox shows.... I can't determine from the response headers as to why this is prompting to open/save. It has always worked. All other PHP files on the site work fine. Anyone have a clue? Thanks Update Apparently, it just crashes Safari.

  • Strange Sql Server 2005 behavior

    - by Justin C
    Background: I have a site built in ASP.NET with Sql Server 2005 as it's database. The site is the only site on a Windows Server 2003 box sitting in my clients server room. The client is a local school district, so for data security reasons there is no remote desktop access and no remote Sql Server connection, so if I have to service the database I have to be at the terminal. I do have FTP access to update ASP code. Problem: I was contacted yesterday about an issue with the system. When I looked in to it, it seems a bug that I had solved nearly a year ago had returned. I have a stored procedure that used to take an int as a parameter but a year ago we changed the structure of the system and updated the stored procedure to take an nvarchar(10). The stored procedure somehow changed back to taking an int instead of an nvarchar. There is an external hard drive connected to the server that copies data periodically and has the ability to restore the server in case of failure. I would have assumed that somehow an older version of the database had been restored, but data that I know was inserted 7 days and 1 day before the bug occurred is still in the database. Question: Is there anyway that the structure of a Sql Server 2005 database can revert to a previous version or be restored to a previous version without touching the actual data? No one else should have access to the server so I'm going a little insane trying to figure out how this even happened. Any ideas?

  • Should I return IEnumerable<T> or IQueryable<T> from my DAL?

    - by Gary '-'
    I know this could be opinion, but I'm looking for best practices. As I understand, IQueryable implements IEnumerable, so in my DAL, I currently have method signatures like the following: IEnumerable<Product> GetProducts(); IEnumerable<Product> GetProductsByCategory(int cateogoryId); Product GetProduct(int productId); Should I be using IQueryable here? What are the pros and cons of either approach? Note that I am planning on using the Repository pattern so I will have a class like so: public class ProductRepository { DBDataContext db = new DBDataContext(<!-- connection string -->); public IEnumerable<Product> GetProductsNew(int daysOld) { return db.GetProducts() .Where(p => p.AddedDateTime > DateTime.Now.AddDays(-daysOld )); } } Should I change my IEnumerable<T> to IQueryable<T>? What advantages/disadvantages are there to one or the other?

  • Problems updating a textBox ASP.NET

    - by Roger Filipe
    Hello, I'm starting in asp.net and am having some problems that I do not understand. The problem is this, I am building a site for news. Every news has a title and body. I have a page where I can insert news, this page uses a textbox for each of the fields (title and body), after clicking the submit button everything goes ok and saves the values in the database. And o have another page where I can read the news, I use labels for each of the camps, these labels are defined in the Page_Load. Now I'm having problems on the page where I can edit the news. I am loading two textboxes (title and body) in the Page_Load, so far so good, but then when I change the text and I click the submit button, it ignores the changes that I made in the text and saves the text loaded in Page_Load. This code doesn't show any database connection but you can understand what i'm talking about. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { textboxTitle.Text = "This is the title of the news"; textboxBody.Text = "This is the body of the news "; } I load the page, make the changes in the text , and then click submit. protected void btnSubmit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { String title = textboxTitle.Text; String body = textboxBody.Text; Response.Write("Title: " + title + " || "); Response.Write("Body: " + body ); } Nothing happens, the text in the textboxes is always the one I loaded in the page_load, how do I update the Text in the textboxes?

  • Database table relationships: Always also relate to specified value (Linq to SQL in .NET Framework)

    - by sinni800
    I really can not describe my question better in the title. If anyone has suggestions: Please tell! I use the Linq to SQL framework in .NET. I ran into something which could be easily solved if the framework supported this, it would be a lot of extra coding otherwise: I have a n to n relation with a helper table in between. Those tables are: Items, places and the connection table which relates items to places and the other way. One item can be found in many places, so can one place have many items. Now of course there will be many items which will be in ALL places. Now there is a problem: Places can always be added. So I need a place-ID which encompasses ALL places, always. Like maybe a place-id "0". If the helper table has a row with the place-id of zero, this should be visible in all places. In SQL this would be a simple "Where [...] or place-id = 0", but how do I do this in Linq relations? Also, for a little side question: How could I manage "all but this place" kind of exclusions?
