  • How do I hide an inherited __published property in the derived class in a VCL component?

    - by Gary Benade
I have created a new VCL component based on an existing VCL component. What I want to do now is set the Password and Username properties from an ini file instead of the property inspector. Robert Dunn Link I read on the delphi forum above you cannot unpublish a property and that the only workaround is to redeclare the property as read-only. I tried this but it all it does is make the property read only and grayed out in the object inspector. While this could work I would prefer if the property wasn't visible at all. __property System::UnicodeString Password = {read=FPassword}; Thanks in advance for any help or links to c++ VCL component writing tutorials. I am using CB2010

  • Overriding classes/functions from a .dll.

    - by Jeff
Say I have class A and class B. B inherits from class A, and implements a few virtual functions. The only problem is that B is defined in a .dll. Right now, I have a function that returns an instance of class A, but it retrieves that from a static function in the .dll that returns an instance of class B. My plan is to call the created object, and hopefully, have the functions in the .dll executed instead of the functions defined in class A. For some reason, I keep getting restricted memory access errors. Is there something I don't understand that will keep this plan from working?

  • Geodjango: importing data from OSGB_1936, displaying in WGS84?

    - by AP257
I have some polygon data saved in a PostGIS database with projection SRID 27700. geom = models.MultiPolygonField(srid=27700) I want to display the shapes on OpenStreetMap, i.e. with SRID 900913 (I think?). So, two questions: How do I change the code below to output with the right SRID for OpenStreetMap? How can I change the Django code below to give me a nice json object, ready to display as a polygon? area = get_object_or_404(soa.objects, code=my_code) polygon = area.geom return render_to_response('area.html', { 'area': area }, context_instance = RequestContext(request)) Apologies if this question doesn't make sense - I'm pretty new to GeoDjango.

  • custom converter in XStream

    - by Raja Chandra Rangineni
Hi All, I am using XStream to serialize my Objects to XML format. The formatted xml that I get is as below: node1, node2, node 3 are attributes of pojo,DetailDollars DetailDollars node1 100 /node1 node2 25 /node2 node3 10 /node3 /DetailDollars I have requirement where in I have to calucluate a percentage, for example 100/ 25 and add the new node to the existing ones. So, the final output should be : DetailDollars node1 100 /node1 node2 25 /node2 node3 10 /node3 node4 4 /node4 DetailDollars I wrote a custom converter and registered to my xstream object. public void marshal(..){ writer.startNode("node4"); writer.setValue(getNode1()/ getnode2() ); writer.endNode(); } But, the xml stream I get has only the new node: DetailDollars node4 4 /node4 /DetailDollars I am not sure which xstream api would get me the desired format. could you please help me with this . Thanks, Raja chandra Rangineni.

  • A quick design question about C++ container classes in shared memory

    - by recipriversexclusion
I am writing a simple wrapper around boost::interprocess's vector container to implement a ring buffer in shared memory (shm) for IPC. Assume that buf is an instance of RingBuffer created in shm. Now, in its ctor, buf itself allocates a private boost::interprocess::vector data member to store values, e.g. m_data. My question is: I think m_data should also be created in shared memory. But it this a necessity? What happens if buf that was created in shm itself, allocates standard memory, i.e. using new. Does this get allocated on the calling process's heap? I don't think buf is allocated there so how come a data member that is private to an object not on a process's heap gets allocated there. I'm confused.

  • Is it safe to override `release` for debugging?

    - by Koning Baard XIV
Sometimes I need to find out if an object will really be released. I could use Instruments of course, but that takes much time, and I have to search into millions of objects, so I used to do this: -(void)release { NSLog("I'm released"); [super release]; } But the problem is: is this safe to do? Can I get any problems when I override -(void)release. Also, is it really void? And what if I build my application for distribution, but per accident leave it there? Or is it just safe? Thanks

  • Ext RowEditor.js does not fire 'afteredit' event

    - by terrani
Hi, I have a Ext grid with RowEditor plugin. I have the following code to add 'afteredit' event to the roweditor object. store.on('update',function(){ }); editor.on("afteredit",function(roweditor, changes, record, index){ $.ajax({ url: $("#web").val() + "/registration/client/address-save" ,type: 'post' ,data: record.json ,dataType: 'json' ,success: function(data){ if(data.success == true){ alert("Update Successfully"); } } }); }); when I click a row and edit a value, sometimes the grid fires 'afteredit' event, but sometimes it doesn't. Do I have a problem with my code above?

  • [jQuery] JSON response is null, but the URL is echoing correctly.

    - by b. e. hollenbeck
I have a form being AJAX'd in by jQuery on a page with multiple forms. I'm performing the following function, which is a wrapper for the $.ajax function: function do_json_get(uri){ var ret = ''; var url = AJAX_URL + uri; $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: url, async: false, success: function(data) { ret = data.html; }, dataType: 'json' }); return ret; } When I go to the AJAX server directly (which is rendering the form in PHP), I get the raw JSON response - so I know the server is outputting to the browser, and the AJAX server is doing other things like setting the proper cookies, so I know that the connection is good (I get a 200 response code). Yet the data object is coming back null. What else could I be missing?

  • How to make a post request with REQUESTS package for Python?

    - by jorrebor
I am trying to use the toggl api. I use Requests instead of Urllib2 for doing my GETs en POSTS. But i am stuck. payload = { "project":{ "name":"Another Project", "billable":False, "workspace":{ "Name":"jorrebor's workspace", "id":213272 }, "automatically_calculate_estimated_workhours":False } } url = "https://www.toggl.com/api/v6/projects.json" r = requests.post(url, data=json.dumps(payload), auth=HTTPBasicAuth('[email protected]', 'mypassword')) Authentication seems to be fine, but the payload format probably isn't. a curl command with the same parameters: curl -v -u heremytoken:api_token -H "Content-type: application/json" -d "{\"project\":{\"billable\":true,\"workspace\":{\"id\":213272},\"name\":\"Another project\",\"automatically_calculate_estimated_workhours\":false}}" -X POST https://www.toggl.com/api/v6/projects.json does work fine. What wrong with my payload? The response is get is: ["Name can't be blank","Workspace can't be blank"] which leads me to conclude that the authentication works but toggl cannot read my json object.

  • Using 2 JQuery Autocomplete

    - by Trike
Hi All! I am using the JQuery Autocomplete Plugin 1.1. When I try to add autocomplete to 2 inputs in this way: $("#object_ac").autocomplete("autocomplete_search.php", { extraParams: {object:1}, width: 160, selectFirst: false, minChars: 2 }); $("#id_norm_doc_ac").autocomplete("autocomplete_search.php", { width: 460, selectFirst: false, mustMatch: true }); $("#id_norm_doc_ac").result(function(event, data, formatted) { $("#id_norm_doc_add").val(data[1]); }); When #object_ac selected before #id_norm_doc_ac I get error after selecting one of suggestions in #id_norm_doc_ac: data is undefined [Break on this error] data = elementToString(data.documentElement, true); If I select #id_norm_doc_ac before other inputs, everything goes normal. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

  • Change NSNumber value by allocating new NSNumber?

    - by Peter Hajas
I understand that NSNumber is immutable, but I still have the need to change it in my app. I use it because it's an object, and therefore usable with @property (if I could, I would use float or CGFloat in a heartbeat, but sadly, I can't). Is there any way to just overwrite the old NSNumber instance? I'm trying this: NSNumber *zero = [[NSNumber alloc] initWithFloat:0.0]; myNSNumber = zero but this doesn't change the value. This is a simplified version of my code, as I'm changing the root view controller's parameter (I know, not MVC-friendly). Still, the changing of the value should be the same assignment, right? Should I release myNSNumber first? What should I set the @property at for myNSNumber? Thanks!

  • ComboBox.SelectionChanged doesn't catch the first selection

    - by trnTash
I need to fill textboxes depending on the item selected in a combobox. I fill combo async and in Completed event I have the following code combo.ItemsSource = e.Result; combo.DisplayMemberPath = "Name"; combo.SelectedIndex = -1; Then in the SelectionChanged event of the combo, I catch the selected object MyClass mc= ((ComboBox)sender).SelectedItem as MyClass; tbxName.Text = mc.Name; ... However, when I load the project and select any event for the 1st time, NOTHING happens. Every other time (2nd, 3rd, nth) the data is correctly caught and displayed. So I need to know why the combo doesn't catch the first selection? That's the reason I have the code combo.SelectedIndex = -1 (when the app loads, combo is empty - selection -1 works).

  • Entity Framework and the XmlIgnoreAttribute

    - by Mikey Cee
Say you have a one to one relationship in your entity model. The code generator will decorate it with the following attributes: [global::System.Xml.Serialization.XmlIgnoreAttribute()] [global::System.Xml.Serialization.SoapIgnoreAttribute()] public RelatedObject Relationship { get {...} set {...} } I want to serialize my parent object together with all its properties for which data has been loaded through an XML web service. Obviously, these related properties do not get serialized because of these attributes. So for my purposes I just want to remove these "don't serialize me" attributes. I can do a find and replace in the designer code, but any modifications I make in the designer will put these attributes back in. How do I permanently get rid of these attributes? VS 2008 / EF 3.5.

  • Linq to Sql saying that item by 'Customer' already exists. Choose a different name.

    - by Anthony Potts
I have been going round and round with a linq to sql file while using svn for quite some time. The latest is that my dbml file shows as having an error which states that An item named "Customer" already exists. Please choose a different name. And then it repeats that again. In fact, it says it for almost every object. What is my fix? I have tried renaming the one named Customer, but that didn't fix it. I don't know where to go to fix this. I went to the .dbml file and don't see any duplication, and I went to the .dbml.layout file and didn't see any duplication there either.

  • Entity framework - exclude list of values

    - by DutrowLLC
Is there a way to exclude a list of values for an object attribute when querying the database through entity framework? I tried to be slick and pull this number: List<String> StringList = new List<String>(); StringList.Add("ya_mama"); StringList.Add("has"); StringList.Add("fleas"); servicesEntities context = new servicesEntities(); var NoFleasQuery = (from x in context.person where !StringList.Any(y => y.CompareTo(x.the_string_I_dont_want_it_to_be) == 0) // <--- the part where I thought I was slick select x); ...it compiled, but after I ran it, it gave me this error: Unable to create a constant value of type 'Closure type'. Only primitive types ('such as Int32, String, and Guid') are supported in this context. 'Closure type'???? How about MY closure!!! Entity framework... you broke my heart.

  • Detecting rotation to landscape manually

    - by Thomas Joos
    hi all, I am working on an iPhone application based on UITabBarController and UIViewControllers for each page. The app needs to run in portrait mode only, so every view controller + app delegate goes with this line of code: (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: (UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); } There is one view controller where I would like to pop up a UIImageView when the iPhone is rotaed to landscapeleft. The design of the image looks landscape, although the width and height are 320x460 ( so its portrait ). How can/should I detect this type of rotation manually, just in this specific view controller, withouth having an auto rotation on the entire view? Thomas UPDATE: Thanks! I added this listener in the viewDidLoad: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(didRotate:)name:UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification object:nil]; the didRotate looks like this: (void) didRotate:(NSNotification *)notification { UIDeviceOrientation orientation = [[UIDevice currentDevice] orientation]; if (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft) { //your code here } }

  • How to use CFUUID, can CFUUID be traced back to a unique individual. security/privacy

    - by Kevin
Hi, i an new to iphone Dev and the concept of CFUUID, so thought i should ask, before i start implementing it. so the string returned by CFUUID is it really unique or can it be traced back to a unique individual. meaning lets say, i generate a CFUUID object and convert it to string(using the methods provided) , and then this info is used in my app or stored on a server database. and how unique is it, i mean is their a chance it can be similar to one generated on some other device. is it a good idea to use this info freely or are their some security/privacy aspects that i am not thinking about here. any help is greatly appreciated thanks

  • need thoughts on my interview question - .net, c#

    - by uno
One of the questions I was asked was that I have a database table with following columns pid - unique identifier orderid - varchar(20) documentid - int documentpath - varchar(250) currentLocation - varchar(250) newlocation - varchar(250) status - varchar(15) I have to write a c# app to move the files from currentlocation to newlocation and update status column as either 'SUCCESS' or 'FAILURE'. This was my answer Create a List of all the records using linq Create a command object which would be perform moving files using foreach, invoke a delegate to move the files - use endinvoke to capture any exception and update the db accordingly I was told that command pattern and delegate did not fit the bill here - i was aksed to think and implement a more favorable GoF pattern. Not sure what they were looking for - In this day and age, do candidates keep a lot of info on head as one always has google to find any answer and come up with solution.

  • When to use AsyncOperation and AsyncOperationManager

    - by Sir Psycho
Hi, I've spent many many hours tonight reading up on implementing the event-based asynchronous pattern Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any articles at all on witting a class that only supports one Async invocation. Every example I've seen assumes that a method call will be called more than once and thus, should have a userState object passed into the MethodNameAsync You'll see that MS makes mention of this in the third bullet point on this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms228974(VS.80).aspx under the "Simultaneously Executing Operations" heading. But I'm confused. Should I be using AsyncOperation and AsyncOperationManager classes to have asynchronous functionality where a method can only be called by one thread at a time? A link would also be nice :) Thanks

  • How to retain service settings through InstallShield upgrade install

    - by sjohnston
I have an InstallScript project in IS2010. It has a handful of services that get installed. Some are C++ exes and use the "InstallShield Object for NT Services". Others are Java apps installed as services with Java Service Wrapper through LaunchAppAndWait command line calls. Tomcat is also being installed as a service through a call to its service.bat. When the installer runs in upgrade mode, the services are reinstalled, and the settings (auto vs. manual startup, restart on fail, log-on account, etc.) are reverted to the defaults. I would like to save the service settings before the file transfer and then repopulate them afterward, but I haven't been able to find a good mechanism to do this. How can I save and restore the service settings?

  • Configuration Files: how to read them into models?

    - by stacker
    I have a lot of configuration files in this format: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <XConfiguration> <XFile Name="file name 1" /> <XFile Name="name2" /> <XFile Name="name3" /> <XFile Name="name4" /> </XConfiguration> I want to use ConfigurationRepository.Get to get this object populated: public class XConfiguration { public XFile[] Files { get; set; } } I wonder what is the best way to do that. LinqToXml? I don't think ConfigurationManager is a smart option for this.

  • Does C# have an equivalent to Scala's structural typing?

    - by Tom Morris
In Scala, I can define structural types as follows: type Pressable { def press(): Unit } This means that I can define a function or method which takes as an argument something that is Pressable, like this: def foo(i: Pressable) { // etc. The object which I pass to this function must have defined for it a method called press() that matches the type signature defined in the type - takes no arguments, returns Unit (Scala's version of void). I can even use the structural type inline: def foo(i: { def press(): Unit }) { // etc. It basically allows the programmer to have all the benefits of duck typing while still having the benefit of compile-time type checking. Does C# have something similar? I've Googled but can't find anything, but I'm not familiar with C# in any depth. If there aren't, are there any plans to add this?

  • NHibernate: Many-to-many relationship with field in the relationship table

    - by Fossmo
I'm scratching my head; I have a Car table and a Customer table that have a many-to-many relationship. In this relationship table I want to add a column that can tell me what kind of relationship this is; is the customer testdriving the car, do he want to buy the car, ect. What I want to end up with is a class Car object that holds a collection of Customers and the relationship information. I might be looking at this the wrong way so feel free to push me in the right direction.
