  • Re-order form fields on submit url

    - by user2521764
    I have a get form with several visible and hidden input fields. When the form is submitted, selected fileds with their values are appended to the url in the order they are placed in the form. Is there a way to re-order the parameters in the url using jQuery? Note that for the reasons of usability, I can not re-order the elements on the form itself. I know it beggs the question "why would I want to do it?", but the reason is that I will be hitting a static page, so the order of the parameters have to be exactly how they are in the static page url. For example, my form returns a url: http://someurl??names=comm&search=all&type=list while the static page has a url: http://someurl??search=all&type=list&names=comm A simplified form example is here: <form id="search_form" method="get" action="http://www.cbif.gc.ca/pls/pp/ppack.jump" > <h2>Choose which names you want to be displayed</h2> <select name="names"> <option value="comm">Common names</option> <option value="sci">Scientific names</option> </select> <h2>Choose how you want to view the results</h2> <input type="radio" name="search" value="all" id="complete" checked = "checked" /> <label for="complete" id="completeLabel">Complete list</label> <br/> <input type="radio" name="p_null" value="house" id="house" /> <label for="house" id="houseLabel">House plants only</label> <br/> <input type="radio" name="p_null" value="illust" id="illustrat" /> <label for="illustrat" id="illustratLabel">Plants with Illustrations</label> <br/> <input type="hidden" name="type" value="list" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> I can get form fields with values using $(#search_form).serializeArray() and massage the array like I want to, but I don't know how to set it back, i.e. modify the serialized values so that the submitted url has my order of parameters. I'm not even sure if this is the right way to go about it, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to set alternate row color for an iterated table in php?

    - by chandru_cp
    I am using php and i am iterating a table with a result array ... I want to add row color and alternate row color to it.... How to do so? Any suggestion... <table id="chkbox" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2" width="100%" class="table_Style_Border"> <tr> <td style="width:150px" class="grid_header" align="center">RackName</td> <td style="width:150px" class="grid_header" align="center">LibraryName</td> <td style="width:200px" class="grid_header" align="center">LibrarianName</td> <td style="width:200px" class="grid_header" align="center">Location</td> <td style="width:1%" class="grid_header"></td> </tr> <? if(isset($comment)) { echo '<tr> <td class=table_label colspan=5>'.$comment.'</td></tr>'; } ?> <?php foreach($rackData as $row) { ?> <tr> <td align="left" class="table_label"> <?=$row['rack_name']?> </td> <td align="left" class="table_label"> <?=$row['library_name']?> </td> <td align="center" class="table_label"> <?=$row['librarian']?> </td> <td align="center" class="table_label"> <?=$row['location']?> </td> <td align="center"> <input type="checkbox" name="group" id="group" value="<?=$row['rack_id']?>" onclick="display(this);" > </td> </tr> <? } ?> <table>

  • index seems to be out of sync for jquery .keydown and .click methods

    - by Growler
    I'd like to navigate images using both keyboard and mouse (clicking left and right arrow images). I'm using Jquery to do this, but the shared imgIndex seems to be off from the .keydown function and the .click function... Whenever .keydown function -- or ++ the imgIndex, isn't that changed index also used in the click function? So shouldn't they always be on the same index? keydown function: <script type="text/javascript"> var imgArray = [<?php echo implode(',', getImages($site)) ?>]; $(document).ready(function() { var img = document.getElementById("showimg"); img.src = imgArray[<?php echo $imgid ?>]; var imgIndex = <?php echo $imgid ?>; alert(imgIndex); $(document).keydown(function (e) { var key = e.which; var rightarrow = 39; var leftarrow = 37; var random = 82; if (key == rightarrow) { imgIndex++; if (imgIndex > imgArray.length-1) { imgIndex = 0; } img.src = imgArray[imgIndex]; } if (key == leftarrow) { if (imgIndex == 0) { imgIndex = imgArray.length; } img.src = imgArray[--imgIndex]; } }); click function: Connected to left and right clickable images $("#next").click(function() { imgIndex++; if (imgIndex > imgArray.length-1) { imgIndex = 0; } img.src = imgArray[imgIndex]; }); $("#prev").click(function() { if (imgIndex == 0) { imgIndex = imgArray.length; } img.src = imgArray[--imgIndex]; }); }); Just so you have some visibility into the getImages php function: <?php function getImages($siteParam) { include 'dbconnect.php'; if ($siteParam == 'artwork') { $table = "artwork"; } else { $table = "comics"; } $catResult = $mysqli->query("SELECT id, title, path, thumb, views, catidFK FROM $table"); $img = array(); while($row = $catResult->fetch_assoc()) { $img[] = "'" . $row['path'] . "'"; } return $img; } ?> Much appreciated! Snapshot of where the script is on "view image.php"

  • IList<T> and IReadOnlyList<T>

    - by Safak Gür
    My problem is that I have a method that can take a collection as parameter that, Has a Count property Has an integer indexer (get-only) And I don't know what type should this parameter be. I would choose IList<T> before .NET 4.5 since there is no other indexable collection interface for this and arrays implement it, which is a big plus. But .NET 4.5 introduces the new IReadOnlyList<T> interface and I want my method to support that, too. How can I write this method to support both IList<T> and IReadOnlyList<T> without violating the basic principles like DRY? Can I convert IList<T> to IReadOnlyList<T> somehow in an overload? What is the way to go here? Edit: Daniel's answer gave me some pretty ideas, I guess I'll go with this: public void Do<T>(IList<T> collection) { DoInternal(collection, collection.Count, i => collection[i]); } public void Do<T>(IReadOnlyList<T> collection) { DoInternal(collection, collection.Count, i => collection[i]); } private void DoInternal<T>(IEnumerable<T> collection, int count, Func<int, T> indexer) { // Stuff } Or I could just accept a ReadOnlyList<T> and provide an helper like this: public static class CollectionEx { public static IReadOnlyList<T> AsReadOnly<T>(this IList<T> collection) { if (collection == null) throw new ArgumentNullException("collection"); return new ReadOnlyWrapper<T>(collection); } private sealed class ReadOnlyWrapper<T> : IReadOnlyList<T> { private readonly IList<T> _Source; public int Count { get { return _Source.Count; } } public T this[int index] { get { return _Source[index]; } } public ReadOnlyWrapper(IList<T> source) { _Source = source; } public IEnumerator<T> GetEnumerator() { return _Source.GetEnumerator(); } IEnumerator IEnumerable.GetEnumerator() { return GetEnumerator(); } } } Then I could call Do(array.AsReadOnly())

  • PHP: csv generator creates extra field

    - by WhyKiki
    I'm coding a script that takes one csv file to transform it into another one. Basically, two foreach loops are used: one to iterate records and another to iterate fields. Certain fields (cno 25, 26, 44) for each record needs to be modified. The problem is that each modificatino creates an extra empty field, i.e. the code $colStr .= '"' . $col . '";'; works but not any of the code in the if statements. The code is: $rno = 0; foreach ($csvArray as $line) { $cno = 0; $colStr = ""; foreach ($line as $col) { if($rno>0 && $cno==25) { $stuff = array($csvArray[$rno][41], $csvArray[$rno][47], $csvArray[$rno][48], $csvArray[$rno][49]); foreach($stuff as &$value) { $value = preg_replace('/[^0-9]/', '', $value); } sort($stuff, SORT_NUMERIC); // Causes bug! $colStr .= '"' . $stuff[0] . '";'; } if($rno>0 && $cno==26) { $urls = ""; for($i = 55; $i<=62; $i++) { $urls .= "Images: " . $csvArray[$rno][$i] . " | "; } $urls .= "Some text: " . $csvArray[$rno][43] . " | "; // Causes bug! $colStr .= '"' . $urls . '";'; } if($rno>0 && $cno==44) { $colStr .= '"' . $_POST['location'][$rno] . '";'; } if($rno>0 && $cno==54) { $objType = $col; $objType = preg_replace('/foobar/i', '123', $objType); // Causes bug! $colStr .= '"' . $objType . '";'; } else { // This is ok, though $colStr .= '"' . $col . '";'; } $cno++; } $colStr = preg_replace('/;$/', '', $colStr); $colStr .= "\n"; fwrite($outputFile, $colStr); $rno++; } fclose($outputFile);

  • upload form only works in Firefox when uploading ASCII .stl 3D files

    - by NathanPDX
    uploadform.html and upload_file.php (below) works fine in Firefox but fails in Chrome, IE, and Safari when uploading ASCII .stl 3D files. Error message is "Invalid file" and problem occurs with multiple computers and multiple .stl files. When I modify the code to support other file types like JPG and PDF it allows those file types in all three web browsers. Also, Firefox only allows the .stl upload if I include application/octet-stream in the mime types section. Why doesn't this work outside of Firefox? uploadform.html: <!doctype html> <html> <body> <form action="upload_file.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <label for="file">Filename:</label> <input type="file" name="file" id="file" /> <br /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> </body> </html> upload_file.php: <!doctype html> <html> <body> <?php $allowedExts = array("stl"); $extension = end(explode(".", $_FILES["file"]["name"])); if ( ( ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "application/sla") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "application/octet-stream") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "text/plain") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "application/unknown") ) && ($_FILES["file"]["size"] < 2000000) && in_array($extension, $allowedExts) ) { if ($_FILES["file"]["error"] > 0) { echo "Return Code: " . $_FILES["file"]["error"] . "; } else { move_uploaded_file($_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"], "upload/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"]); echo "successful upload"; } } } else { echo "Invalid file"; } ?> </body> </html>

  • Counting number of searches

    - by shinjuo
    I am trying to figure out how to get the total number of tests each search makes in this algorithm. I am not sure how I can pass that information back from this algorithm though. I need to count how many times while runs and then pass that number back into an array to be added together and determine the average number of test. main.c #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <time.h> #include <stdbool.h> #include "percentage.h" #include "sequentialSearch.h" #define searchAmount 100 int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { int numbers[100]; int searches[searchAmount]; int i; int where; int searchSuccess; int searchUnsuccess; int percent; srand(time(NULL)); for (i = 0; i < 100; i++){ numbers[i] = rand() % 200; } for (i = 0; i < searchAmount; i++){ searches[i] = rand() % 200; } searchUnsuccess = 0; searchSuccess = 0; for(i = 0; i < searchAmount; i++){ if(seqSearch(numbers, 100, searches[i], &where)){ searchSuccess++; }else{ searchUnsuccess++; } } percent = percentRate(searchSuccess, searchAmount); printf("Total number of searches: %d\n", searchAmount); printf("Total successful searches: %d\n", searchSuccess); printf("Success Rate: %d%%\n", percent); system("PAUSE"); return 0; } sequentialSearch.h bool seqSearch (int list[], int last, int target, int* locn){ int looker; looker = 0; while(looker < last && target != list[looker]){ looker++; } *locn = looker; return(target == list[looker]); }

  • How do I create a class in Javascript?

  • DataGridView cells not editable when using an outside thread call

    - by joslinm
    Hi, I'm not able to edit my datagridview cells when a number of identical calls takes place on another thread. Here's the situation: Dataset table is created in the main window The program receives in files and processes them on a background thread in class TorrentBuilder : BackgroundWorker creating an array objects of another class Torrent My program receives those objects from the BW result and adds them into the dataset The above happens either on my main window thread or in another thread: I have a separate thread watching a folder for files to come in, and when they do come in, they proceed to call TorrentBuilder.RunWorkerAsynch() from that thread, receive the result, and call an outside class that adds the Torrent objects into the table. When the files are received by the latter thread, the datagridview isn't editable. All of the values come up properly into the datagridview, but when I click on a cell to edit it: I can write letters and everything, but when I click out of it, it immediately reverts back to its original value. If I restart the program, I can edit the same cells just fine. If the values are freshly added from the main window thread, I can edit the cells just fine. The outside thread is called from my main window thread, and sits there in the background. I don't believe it to be ReadOnly because I would have gotten an exception. Here's some code: From my main window class: private void dataGridView_DragDrop(object sender, DragEventArgs e) { ArrayList al = new ArrayList(); string[] files = (string[])e.Data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop); foreach (string file in files) { string extension = Path.GetExtension(file); if (Path.GetExtension(file).Equals(".zip") || Path.GetExtension(file).Equals(".rar")) { foreach (string unzipped in dh.UnzipFile(file)) al.Add(unzipped); } else if (Path.GetExtension(file).Equals(".torrent")) { al.Add(file); } } dataGridViewProgressBar.Visible = true; tb.RunWorkerCompleted += new RunWorkerCompletedEventHandler(tb_DragDropCompleted); tb.ProgressChanged += new ProgressChangedEventHandler(tb_DragDropProgress); tb.RunWorkerAsync() } void tb_DragDropCompleted(object sender, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e) { data.AddTorrents((Torrent[])e.Result); builder.Dispose(); dh.MoveProcessedFiles(data); dataGridViewProgressBar.Visible = false; } From my outside Thread while (autocheck) { if (torrentFiles != null) { builder.RunWorkerAsync(torrentFiles); while (builder.IsBusy) Thread.Sleep(500); } } void builder_RunWorkerCompleted(object sender, System.ComponentModel.RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e) { data.AddTorrents((Torrent[])e.Result); builder.Dispose(); dh.MoveProcessedFiles(xml); data.Save(); //Save just does an `AcceptChanges()` and saves to a XML file }

  • How do you return a string from a function correctly in Dynamic C?

    - by aquanar
    I have a program I am trying to debug, but Dynamic C apparently treats strings differently than normal C does (well, character arrays, anyway). I have a function that I made to make an 8 character long (well, 10 to include the \0 ) string of 0s and 1s to show me the contents of an 8-bit char variable. (IE, I give it the number 13, it returns the string "0001101\0" ) When I use the code below, it prints out !{happy face] 6 times (well, the second one is the happy face alone for some reason), each return comes back as 0xDEAE or "!\x02. I thought it would dereference it and return the appropriate string, but it appears to just be sending the pointer and attempting to parse it. This may seem silly, but my experience was actually in C++ and Java, so going back to C brings up a few issues that were dealt with in later programming languages that I'm not entirely sure how to deal with (like the lack of string variables). How could I fix this code, or how would be a better way to do what I am trying to do (I thought maybe sending in a pointer to a character array and working on it from the function might work, but I thought I should ask to see if maybe I'm just trying to reinvent the wheel). Currently I have it set up like this: this is an excerpt from the main() display[0] = '\0'; for(i=0;i<6;i++) { sprintf(s, "%s ", *char_to_bits(buffer[i])); strcat(display, s); } DispStr(8,5, display); and this is the offending function: char *char_to_bits(char x) { char bits[16]; strcpy(bits,"00000000\0"); if (x & 0x01) bits[7]='1'; if (x & 0x02) bits[6]='1'; if (x & 0x04) bits[5]='1'; if (x & 0x08) bits[4]='1'; if (x & 0x10) bits[3]='1'; if (x & 0x20) bits[2]='1'; if (x & 0x40) bits[1]='1'; if (x & 0x80) bits[0]='1'; return bits; } and just for the sake of completion, the other function is used to output to the stdio window at a specific location: void DispStr(int x, int y, char *s) { x += 0x20; y += 0x20; printf ("\x1B=%c%c%s", x, y, s); }

  • Can't get jQuery to get focus on cloned input fields

    - by Rebel1Moon
    I have a page that needs to create dynamic form fields as often as the user needs, and I am trying to use Ajax to tie it in to my database for faster form entry and to prevent user typos. So, I have put my Ajax returned data into popup div, the user selects, then the form field is filled in. The problem comes on the cloned fields. They don't seem to want to bring up the popup div when focused. I am thinking it is something to do with when they get created/added to the DOM. Here is my JS that creates the clones: $(document).ready(function() { var regex = /^(.*)(\d)+$/i; var cloneIndex = $(".clonedInput").length; $("button.clone").live("click", function(){ $(this).parents(".clonedInput").clone() .appendTo("#course_container") .attr("id", "clonedInput" + cloneIndex) .find("*").each(function() { var id = this.id || ""; var match = id.match(regex) || []; if (match.length == 3) { this.id = match[1] + (cloneIndex); } }); cloneIndex++; numClones=cloneIndex-1; //alert("numClones "+numClones); }); Here is where I expect to be able to get focus on the correct cloned field and call the popup. The baker_equiv0 id is original code, whereas baker_equiv1 is the first clone. $('#baker_equiv0').focus(function() { \\ THIS CODE WORKS $('.popup').fadeIn(500); $('#results').empty(); // document.enter_data.baker_equiv1.value="test"; THIS LINE WORKS //alert("numClones "+numClones); }); $('#baker_equiv1').focus(function() { // THIS DOESN'T EVER FIRE alert("numClones "+numClones); $('.popup').fadeIn(500); $('#results').empty(); }); Here is the HTML with the form: <label for="baker_equiv" class="">Baker Equivalent: <span class="requiredField">*</span></label> <input type="text" class="cinputsa" name="baker_equiv[]" id="baker_equiv0" size="8" ONKEYUP="get_equiv(this.value);"> If I put this in the HTML code above, it works fine: onfocus="alert(this.id)" I'd also be interested in how to adjust the JS code to work based on the id array created rather than having to copy code for each potential set of fields clones, i.e., baker_equiv[] rather than baker_equiv0, baker_equiv1, etc. Thanks all!

  • HTML format using Java mail in android

    I am trying to implement an HTML format mail using the Java mail in android. I would like to get results like this: When I look at the html format sent from lookout in my GMAIL. I don't see any link, but just has this format: [image: Lookout_logo] [image: Signal_flare_icon] Your battery level is really low, so we located your device with Signal Flare. I was trying the following: Properties props = System.getProperties(); props.put("mail.smtp.starttls.enable", "true"); // added this line props.put("mail.smtp.host", host); props.put("mail.smtp.user", from); props.put("mail.smtp.password", pass); props.put("mail.smtp.port", "587"); props.put("mail.smtp.auth", "true"); javax.mail.Session session = javax.mail.Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null); MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(session); message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from)); InternetAddress[] toAddress = new InternetAddress[to.length]; // To get the array of addresses for( int i=0; i < to.length; i++ ) { // changed from a while loop toAddress[i] = new InternetAddress(to[i]); } message.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.BCC, toAddress); message.setSubject(sub); //message.setText(body); body = "<!DOCTYPE html><html><body><img src=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krka_National_Park#mediaviewer/File:Krk_waterfalls.jpg\">"; message.setContent(body, "text/html; charset=utf-8"); Transport transport = session.getTransport("smtp"); transport.connect(host, from, pass); transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients()); transport.close(); When I look at the html format sent with the above code. I get the following: <!DOCTYPE html><html><body><img src="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krka_National_Park#mediaviewer/File:Krk_waterfalls.jpg> How to make sure the user will not be able to see any html code or URL link like the mail sent by LOOKOUT? • Best way to have common class shared by both C++ and Ruby?

    - by shuttle87
    I am currently working on a project where a team of us are designing a game, all of us are proficient in ruby and some (but not all) of us are proficient in c++. Initially we made the backend in ruby but we ported it to c++ for more speed. The c++ port of the backend has exactly the same features and algorithms as the original ruby code. However we still have a bunch of code in ruby that does useful things but we want it to now get the data from the c++ classes. Our first thought was that we could save some of the data structures in something like XML or redis and call that, but some of the developers don't like that idea. We don't need anything particularly complex data structures to be passed between the different parts of the code, just tuples, strings and ints. Is there any way of integrating the ruby code so that it can call the c++ stuff natively? Will we need to embed code? Will we have to make a ruby extension? If so are there any good resources/tutorials you could suggest? For example say we have this code in the c++ backend: class The_game{ private: bool printinfo; //print the player diagnostic info at the beginning if true int numplayers; std::vector<Player*> players; string current_action; int action_is_on; // the index of the player in the players array that the action is now on //more code here public: Table(std::vector<Player *> in_players, std::vector<Statistics *> player_stats ,const int in_numplayers); ~Table(); void play_game(); History actions_history; }; class History{ private: int action_sequence_number; std::vector<Action*> hand_actions; public: void print_history(); void add_action(Action* the_action_to_be_added); int get_action_sequence_number(){ return action_sequence_number;} bool history_actions_are_equal(); int last_action_size(int street,int number_of_actions_ago); History(); ~History(); }; Is there any way to natively call something in the actions_history via The_game object in ruby? (The objects in the original ruby code all had the same names and functionality) By this I mean: class MyRubyClass def method1(arg1) puts arg1 self.f() # ... but still available puts cpp_method.the_current_game.actions_history.get_action_sequence_number() end # Constructor: def initialize(arg) puts "In constructor with arg #{arg}" #get the c++ object here and call it cpp_method end end Is this possible? Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

Please try again."; } $target_path = "C:xampp/htdocs/themer/".$filename; // change this to the correct site path if(move_uploaded_file($source, $target_path)) { $zip = new ZipArchive(); $x = $zip->open($target_path); if ($x === true) { $zip->extractTo("C:xampp/htdocs/themer/"); // change this to the correct site path $zip->close(); unlink($target_path); } $message = "Your .zip file was uploaded and unpacked."; } else { $message = "There was a problem with the upload. Please try again."; } } ?> How can i connect both files that will perform the extracting process? And how to include the codes for radio button after submission? Please Help.

  • PHP+GD creating random black thumbnails

    - by rroberto
    Hello, This function is creating some random black images like.. 10% of the time, is not much, but.. you know.. shouldnt be happening. class ImgResizer { private $originalFile = ''; public function __construct($originalFile = '') { $this -> originalFile = $originalFile; } public function resize($newWidth, $targetFile) { if (empty($newWidth) || empty($targetFile)) { return false; } $src = imagecreatefromjpeg($this -> originalFile); list($width, $height) = getimagesize($this -> originalFile); $newHeight = ($height / $width) * $newWidth; if ($newHeight<'335') { //$newHeight='335'; } $tmp = imagecreatetruecolor($newWidth, $newHeight); #$tmp = imagecreate($newWidth, $newHeight); imagecopyresampled($tmp, $src, 0, 0, 0, 0, $newWidth, $newHeight, $width, $height); if (file_exists($targetFile)) { unlink($targetFile); } imagejpeg($tmp, $targetFile, 85); // 85 is my choice, make it between 0 – 100 for output image quality with 100 being the most luxurious } } no errors given in error_log. Here is gd_info(): Array( [GD Version] => bundled (2.0.34 compatible) [FreeType Support] => [T1Lib Support] => [GIF Read Support] => 1 [GIF Create Support] => 1 [JPG Support] => 1 [PNG Support] => 1 [WBMP Support] => 1 [XPM Support] => 1 [XBM Support] => 1 [JIS-mapped Japanese Font Support] => )1 server is linux. function is being called like this: assuming $imagen is the actual source image, and $imagendestino is the path and filename of the new thumbnail. if (!file_exists($imagendestino)) { $work = new ImgResizer($imagen); $work -> resize(475, $imagendestino); } Thanks in advance!

  • How can I map a String to a function in Java?

    - by Bears will eat you
    Currently, I have a bunch of Java classes that implement a Processor interface, meaning they all have a processRequest(String key) method. The idea is that each class has a few (say, <10) member Strings, and each of those maps to a method in that class via the processRequest method, like so: class FooProcessor implements Processor { String key1 = "abc"; String key2 = "def"; String key3 = "ghi"; // and so on... String processRequest(String key) { String toReturn = null; if (key1.equals(key)) toReturn = method1(); else if (key2.equals(key)) toReturn = method2(); else if (key3.equals(key)) toReturn = method3(); // and so on... return toReturn; } String method1() { // do stuff } String method2() { // do other stuff } String method3() { // do other other stuff } // and so on... } You get the idea. This was working fine for me, but now I need a runtime-accessible mapping from key to function; not every function actually returns a String (some return void) and I need to dynamically access the return type (using reflection) of each function in each class that there's a key for. I already have a manager that knows about all the keys, but not the mapping from key to function. My first instinct was to replace this mapping using if-else statements with a Map<String, Function>, like I could do in Javascript. But, Java doesn't support first-class functions so I'm out of luck there. I could probably dig up a third-party library that lets me work with first-class functions, but I haven't seen any yet, and I doubt that I need an entire new library. I also thought of putting these String keys into an array and using reflection to invoke the methods by name, but I see two downsides to this method: My keys would have to be named the same as the method - or be named in a particular, consistent way so that it's easy to map them to the method name. This seems WAY slower than the if-else statements I have right now. Efficiency is something of a concern because these methods will tend to get called pretty frequently, and I want to minimize unnecessary overhead. TL; DR: I'm looking for a clean, minimal-overhead way to map a String to some sort of a Function object that I can invoke and call (something like) getReturnType() on. I don't especially mind using a 3rd-party library if it really fits my needs. I also don't mind using reflection, though I would strongly prefer to avoid using reflection every single time I do a method lookup - maybe using some caching strategy that combines the Map with reflection. Thoughts on a good way to get what I want? Cheers!

  • 'Good' programming form in maintaining / updating / accessing files by entry

    - by zhermes
    Basic Question: If I'm storying/modifying data, should I access elements of a file by index hard-coded index, i.e. targetFile.getElement(5); via a hardcoded identifier (internally translated into index), i.e. target.getElementWithID("Desired Element"), or with some intermediate DESIRED_ELEMENT = 5; ... target.getElement(DESIRED_ELEMENT), etc. Background: My program (c++) stores data in lots of different 'dataFile's. I also keep a list of all of the data-files in another file---a 'listFile'---which also stores some of each one's properties (see below, but i.e. what it's name is, how many lines of information it has etc.). There is an object which manages the data files and the list file, call it a 'fileKeeper'. The entries of a listFile look something like: filename , contents name , number of lines , some more numbers ... Its definitely possible that I may add / remove fields from this list --- but in general, they'll stay static. Right now, I have a constant string array which holds the identification of each element in each entry, something like: const string fileKeeper::idKeys[] = { "FileName" , "Contents" , "NumLines" ... }; const int fileKeeper::idKeysNum = 6; // 6 - for example I'm trying to manage this stuff in 'good' programatic form. Thus, when I want to retrieve the number of lines in a file (for example), instead of having a method which just retrieves the '3'rd element... Instead I do something like: string desiredID = "NumLines"; int desiredIndex = indexForID(desiredID); string desiredElement = elementForIndex(desiredIndex); where the function indexForID() goes through the entries of idKeys until it finds desiredID then returns the index it corresponds to. And elementForIndex(index) actually goes into the listFile to retrieve the index'th element of the comma-delimited string. Problem: This still seems pretty ugly / poor-form. Is there a way I should be doing this? If not, what are some general ways in which this is usually done? Thanks!

  • C# Read Byte [] to Image

    - by LucasGuitar
    I have an application which I'm adding pictures and these are automatically converted to binary and stored in a single file. how can I save several images, I keep in an XML file start and size of each set of refente to an image byte. But it has several images in bytes, whenever I try to select a different set of bytes just opening the same image. I would like your help to be able to fix this and open different images. Code //Add Image private void btAddImage_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { OpenFileDialog op = new OpenFileDialog(); op.Title = "Selecione a Imagem"; op.Filter = "All supported graphics|*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.png|" + "JPEG (*.jpg;*.jpeg)|*.jpg;*.jpeg|" + "Portable Network Graphic (*.png)|*.png"; if (op.ShowDialog() == true) { imgPatch.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(op.FileName)); txtName.Focus(); } } //Convert Image private void btConvertImage_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(txtName.Text)) { txtName.Focus(); MessageBox.Show("Preencha o Nome", "Error"); } else { save(ConvertFileToByteArray(op.FileName), txtName.Text); } } //Image to Byte Array private static byte[] ConvertFileToByteArray(String FilePath) { return File.ReadAllBytes(FilePath); } //Save Binary File and XML File public void save(byte[] img, string nome) { FileStream f; long ini, fin = img.Length; if (!File.Exists("Escudos.bcf")) { f = new FileStream("Escudos.bcf", FileMode.Create); ini = 0; } else { f = new FileStream("Escudos.bcf", FileMode.Append); ini = f.Length + 1; bin = new TestBinarySegment(); } bin.LoadAddSave("Escudos.xml", "Brasileiro", nome, ini, fin); BinaryWriter b = new BinaryWriter(f); b.Write(img); b.Close(); f.Dispose(); } //Load Image from Byte private void btLoad_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { getImageFromByte(); } //Byte to Image public void getImageFromByte(int start, int length) { using (FileStream fs = new FileStream("Escudos.bcf", FileMode.Open)) { byte[] iba = new byte[fs.Length+1]; fs.Read(iba, start, length); Image image = new Image(); image.Source = BitmapFrame.Create(fs, BitmapCreateOptions.None, BitmapCacheOption.OnLoad); imgPatch2.Source = image.Source; } }

  • How to update a TextView on ButtonClick with Spinner(s) values

    - by source.rar
    Hi, I am trying to populate a TextView based on the current selected options in 3 Spinner(s) but cant seem to figure out how to retrieve the selected values from the Spinners to invoke the update function with. Here is my current code (quite messy but I'm just learning Java :)), public class AgeFun extends Activity { private String[] dayNames; private String[] yearArray; private final static int START_YEAR = 1990; private static TextView textDisp; private Button calcButton; private static Spinner spinnerDay, spinnerYear, spinnerMonth; private static ArrayAdapter<?> monthAdapter, dayAdapter, yearAdapter; private int year, month, day; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); year = 2000; month = 1; day = 1; textDisp = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textView1); calcButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button); calcButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { // Perform action on clicks AgeFun.updateAge(year, month, day); } }); // Month spinner spinnerMonth = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinnerFirst); monthAdapter = ArrayAdapter.createFromResource( this, R.array.monthList, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item); monthAdapter.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); spinnerMonth.setAdapter(monthAdapter); // Day spinner dayNames = new String[31]; for(int i =1; i <= 31; ++i) { dayNames[i-1] = Integer.toString(i); } spinnerDay = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinnerSecond); dayAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<CharSequence>(this, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item, dayNames); spinnerDay.setAdapter(dayAdapter); // Year spinner yearArray = new String[40]; for(int i =0; i < 40; ++i) { yearArray[i] = Integer.toString(START_YEAR+i); } spinnerYear = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.spinnerThird); yearAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<CharSequence>(this, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item, yearArray); spinnerYear.setAdapter(yearAdapter); updateAge(2000,1,1); } private static void updateAge(int year, int month, int day) { Date dob = new GregorianCalendar(year, month, day).getTime(); Date currDate = new Date(); long age = (currDate.getTime() - dob.getTime()) / (1000 * 60 * 60 * 24) / 365; textDisp.setText("Your are " + Long.toString(age) + " years old"); } } Any help with this would be great.   • Problem displaying contents of a class in Java

    - by LuckySlevin
    My problem is i have a class and in it there is a list of elements of another class. public class Branch { private ArrayList<Player> players = new ArrayList<Player>(); String brName; public Branch() {} public void setBr(String brName){this.brName = brName;} public String getBr(){return brName;} public ArrayList<Player> getPlayers() { return players; } public void setPlayers(ArrayList<Player> players) { this.players =new ArrayList<Player>(players); } } public class Player { private String name; private String pos; private Integer salary; private Integer number; public Player(String name, String pos, Integer salary, Integer number) { this.name = name; this.pos = pos; this.salary = salary; this.number = number; } public Player(){} public String getName() { return name; } public String getPos() { return pos; } public Integer getSalary() { return salary; } public Integer getNumber() { return number; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public void setPos(String pos) { this.pos = pos; } public void setSalary(Integer salary) { this.salary = salary; } public void setNumber(Integer number) { this.number = number; } } My problem is to print the players of a Branch with their name,pos,salary,number. For this i tried this simply : String p1,p2; int a1,a2; p1 = input.readLine(); p2 = input.readLine(); a1 = Integer.parseInt(input.readLine()); a2 = Integer.parseInt(input.readLine()); players[0].setName(p1); players[0].setPos(p2); players[0].setSalary(a1); players[0].setNumber(a2); ptmp.add(players[0]); myBranch[0].setPlayers(ptmp); System.out.println(myBranch[0].brName + " " + myBranch[0].getPlayers()); I wrote this just to try how to display. I created an array of Players, and Branches so they already defined. The problem is getPlayers() doesn't give me any result. What is the way to do this?

  • MySQLi Insert prepared statement via PHP

    - by Jimmy
    Howdie do, This is my first time dealing with MySQLi inserts. I had always used mysql and directly ran the queries. Apparently, not as secure as MySQLi. Anywho, I'm attempting to pass two variables into the database. For some reason my prepared statement keeps erroring out. I'm not sure if it's a syntax error, but the insert just won't work. I've updated the code to make the variables easier to read Also, the error is specifically, Error preparing statement. I've updated the code, but it's not a pHP error. It's a MySQL error as the script runs but fails at the execution of: if($stmt = $mysqli - prepare("INSERT INTO subnets (id, subnet, mask, sectionId, description, vrfId, masterSubnetId, allowRequests, vlanId, showName, permissions, pingSubnet, isFolder, editDate) VALUES ('', ?, ?, '1', '', '0', '0', '0', '0', '0', '{"3":"1","2":"2"}', '0', '0', 'NULL')")) { I'm going to enable MySQL error checking. I honestly didn't know about that. <?php error_reporting(E_ALL); function InsertIPs($decimnal,$cidr) { error_reporting(E_ALL); $mysqli = new mysqli("localhost","jeremysd_ips","","jeremysd_ips"); if(mysqli_connect_errno()) { echo "Connection Failed: " . mysqli_connect_errno(); exit(); } if($stmt = $mysqli -> prepare("INSERT INTO subnets (id, subnet, mask,sectionId,description,vrfld,masterSubnetId,allowRequests,vlanId,showName,permissions,pingSubnet,isFolder,editDate) VALUES ('',?,?,'1','','0','0','0','0','0', '{'3':'1','2':'2'}', '0', '0', NULL)")) { $stmt-> bind_param('ii',$decimnal,$cidr); if($stmt-> execute()) { echo "Row added successfully\n"; } else { $stmt->error; } $stmt -> close; } } else { echo 'Error preparing statement'; } $mysqli -> close(); } $SUBNETS = array ("2915483648 | 18"); foreach($SUBNETS as $Ip) { list($TempIP,$TempMask) = explode(' | ',$Ip); echo InsertIPs($Tempip,$Tempmask); } ?> This function isn't supposed to return anything. It's just supposed to perform the Insert. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm just not sure what I'm missing here

  • Please Describe Your Struggles with Minimizing Use of Global Variables

    - by MetaHyperBolic
    Most of the programs I write are relatively flowchartable processes, with a defined start and hoped-for end. The problems themselves can be complex but do not readily lean towards central use of objects and event-driven programming. Often, I am simply churning through great varied batches of text data to produce different text data. Only occasionally do I need to create a class: As an example, to track warnings, errors, and debugging message, I created a class (Problems) with one instantiation (myErr), which I believe to be an example of the Singleton design pattern. As a further factor, my colleagues are more old school (procedural) than I and are unacquainted with object-oriented programming, so I am loath to create things they could not puzzle through. And yet I hear, again and again, how even the Singleton design pattern is really an anti-pattern and ought to be avoided because Global Variables Are Bad. Minor functions need few arguments passed to them and have no need to know of configuration (unchanging) or program state (changing) -- I agree. However, the functions in the middle of the chain, which primarily control program flow, have a need for a large number of configuration variables and some program state variables. I believe passing a dozen or more arguments along to a function is a "solution," but hardly an attractive one. I could, of course, cram variables into a single hash/dict/associative array, but that seems like cheating. For instance, connecting to the Active Directory to make a new account, I need such configuration variables as an administrative username, password, a target OU, some default groups, a domain, etc. I would have to pass those arguments down through a variety of functions which would not even use them, merely shuffle them off down through a chain which would eventually lead to the function that actually needs them. I would at least declare the configuration variables to be constant, to protect them, but my language of choice these days (Python) provides no simple manner to do this, though recipes do exist as workarounds. Numerous Stack Overflow questions have hit on the why? of the badness and the requisite shunning, but do not often mention tips on living with this quasi-religious restriction. How have you resolved, or at least made peace with, the issue of global variables and program state? Where have you made compromises? What have your tricks been, aside from shoving around flocks of arguments to functions?

  • Using a large list of terms, search through page text and replace words with links

    - by dunc
    A while ago I posted this question asking if it's possible to convert text to HTML links if they match a list of terms from my database. I have a fairly huge list of terms - around 6000. The accepted answer on that question was superb, but having never used XPath, I was at a loss when problems started occurring. At one point, after fiddling with code, I somehow managed to add over 40,000 random characters to our database - the majority of which required manual removal. Since then I've lost faith in that idea and the more simple PHP solutions simply weren't efficient enough to deal with the amount of data and the quantity of terms. My next attempt at a solution is to write a JS script which, once the page has loaded, retrieves the terms and matches them against the text on a page. This answer has an idea which I'd like to attempt. I would use AJAX to retrieve the terms from the database, to build an object such as this: var words = [ { word: 'Something', link: 'http://www.something.com' }, { word: 'Something Else', link: 'http://www.something.com/else' } ]; When the object has been built, I'd use this kind of code: //for each array element $.each(words, function() { //store it ("this" is gonna become the dom element in the next function) var search = this; $('.message').each( function() { //if it's exactly the same if ($(this).text() === search.word) { //do your magic tricks $(this).html('<a href="' + search.link + '">' + search.link + '</a>'); } } ); } ); Now, at first sight, there is a major issue here: with 6,000 terms, will this code be in any way efficient enough to do what I'm trying to do?. One option would possibly be to perform some of the overhead within the PHP script that the AJAX communicates with. For instance, I could send the ID of the post and then the PHP script could use SQL statements to retrieve all of the information from the post and match it against all 6,000 terms.. then the return call to the JavaScript could simply be the matching terms, which would significantly reduce the number of matches the above jQuery would make (around 50 at most). I have no problem with the script taking a few seconds to "load" on the user's browser, as long as it isn't impacting their CPU usage or anything like that. So, two questions in one: Can I make this work? What steps can I take to make it as efficient as possible? Thanks in advance,

  • login not working when changing from mysql to mysqli

    - by user1438647
    I have a code below where it logs a teacher in by matching it's username and password in the database, if correct, then log in, if incorrect, then display a message. <?php session_start(); $username="xxx"; $password="xxx"; $database="mobile_app"; $link = mysqli_connect('localhost',$username,$password); mysqli_select_db($link, $database) or die( "Unable to select database"); foreach (array('teacherusername','teacherpassword') as $varname) { $$varname = (isset($_POST[$varname])) ? $_POST[$varname] : ''; } ?> <form action="<?php echo htmlentities($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); ?>" method="post" id="teachLoginForm"> <p>Username</p><p><input type="text" name="teacherusername" /></p> <!-- Enter Teacher Username--> <p>Password</p><p><input type="password" name="teacherpassword" /></p> <!-- Enter Teacher Password--> <p><input id="loginSubmit" type="submit" value="Login" name="submit" /></p> </form> <?php if (isset($_POST['submit'])) { $query = " SELECT * FROM Teacher t WHERE (t.TeacherUsername = '".mysqli_real_escape_string($teacherusername)."') AND (t.TeacherPassword = '".mysqli_real_escape_string($teacherpassword)."') "; $result = mysqli_query($link, $query); $num = mysqli_num_rows($result); $loged = false; while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { if ($_POST['teacherusername'] == ($row['TeacherUsername']) && $_POST['teacherpassword'] == ($row['TeacherPassword'])) { $loged = true; } $_SESSION['teacherforename'] = $row['TeacherForename']; $_SESSION['teachersurname'] = $row['TeacherSurname']; $_SESSION['teacherusername'] = $row['TeacherUsername']; } if ($loged == true){ header( 'Location: menu.php' ) ; }else{ echo "The Username or Password that you Entered is not Valid. Try Entering it Again."; } mysqli_close($link); } ?> Now the problem is that even if the teacher has entered in the correct username and password, it still doesn't let the teacher log in. When the code above was the old mysql() code, it worked fine as teacher was able to login when username and password match, but when trying to change the code into mysqli then it causes login to not work even though username and password match. What am I doing wrong?
