• Wine Security - Improvement by second user account?

  Team, I'm considering installing wine - but still hesitant for security reasons. As far as I found out, malicious code could reach ~/.wine and all my personal data with my user-priviledges - but not farther than that. So - would it be any safer to create a second user account on my machine and install wine there? That way, the second user would only have reading rights to my files. Is there a way to install wine totally confined to that user - so that I can't execute .exe files from my original account? Thanks in advance! PS - I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 64bit if that matters.

• Use gmail domain account with IMAP authentication with SAML authentication not working...

  I have a python script that interfaces gmail accounts and allows searches, etc. This works on normal emails (ending on @gmail.com) but not on domain accounts. In this case authentication is done via SAML, and IMAP is enabled on the gmail domain account... The instructions from google on how to configure IMAP only seem to work for @gmail.com accounts... I've tried authentication to IMAP using user, user@admin and using host: imap.gmail.com as well as my domain's email and authentication is not working.... is there a specific 'host' from gmail for domain accounts? other way to get imap on gmail domain accounts? • Getting bank account information from a bank and displaying on a website [closed]

  Hello I am looking for a way to get bank account information (transactions and balance) from a financial institution and display it on a website. The question is vague intentionally.... Everything is open. I haven't chosen a bank, serverside technology or front end technology. The idea is to have a script run automatically periodically (once or twice a day) and get the latest account information from the bank server automatically. Probably something in the direction of OFX (Open financial exchange), HBCI (home banking c.. interface), fnts or something like it. Even working over a closed source API is not out of question: Wesabe or Mint or something. • How do I access variables with hyphenated names in Smarty?

  I've got a PHP page that parses an XML file with SimpleXml, then passes that object to a Smarty template. My problem is that the XML file has hyphens in its tag names, e.g. video-player. In PHP, this is no problem, I just use $xml->{'video-player'} and everything's fine. Smarty, on the other hand, throws a fit when I try to use that syntax. The only solution I've come up with so far is to use a variable to store the name, e.g., { assign var=name value="video-player" } { $xml->$name } But this isn't terribly graceful to say the least. Is there another, better, approach to referring to a hyphenated variable name in Smarty?

  We have the following websites An online magazine Singapore edition - sg.abc.com The same online magazine Malaysia edition - my.abc.com Forums around the same subjects as the online magazine but functions independently - forums.abc.com Classifieds site rather also around the same subjects but functions independently - directory.abc.com Each of the above websites currently has its own Google Analytics account. abc.com has a separate Google Analytics account too. sg.abc.com has the most traffic and generates most revenues Are there any practical benefits of merging all the above sub-domains to be under abc.com? I can think of more reliable analytics and consistency for sure. Are there more? cross-sales?

  I am a user of a free Google Analytics account and i'm slightly concerned that I may be approaching the 10,000,000 hit (Pageviews, Events etc) per month. Google state in their documentation: These limits apply to the Web Property / Property / Tracking ID. 10 million hits per month per property If you go over this limit, the Google Analytics team might contact you and ask you upgrade to Premium or implement client sampling to reduce the amount of data being sent to Google Analytics. However, I note that there is nothing to say that you can review or check up on your current usage for the month. I have administrator access to the Google Analytics account, but I see no feature that lets me check up on my monthly usage. I don't know if Google offer this, either by means of the admin interface or via their support channels - but it would certainly be a useful feature. Is there anyway for a free GA user to obtain this information?

• Renaming the sa Account

  Today I renamed the sa account on 23 SQL Server 2005/2008 instances.  I used the CMS to assist with this task.  Later we realized all of the SQL Agent jobs were failing on these instances with the following error: “The job failed.  The owner (sa) of job XYZ does not have server access.” We use sa as the job owner, and it had correctly changed the owner to our new name as the sids had not changed.  We were at first confused why the jobs were failing but then realized restarting the SQL Agent service might help.  The restart corrected the problem. If you plan on renaming your sa account (best practice), make sure you restart the SQL Agent service afterwards to avoid failing jobs.  This is perhaps common knowledge, but it was something new learned by me today.

  According to a popular SO post is it considered a bad practice to prefix table names. At my company every column is prefixed by a table name. This is difficult for me to read. I'm not sure the reason, but this naming is actually the company standard. I can't stand the naming convention, but I have no documentation to back up my reasoning. All I know is that reading AdventureWorks is much simpler. In this our company DB you will see a table, Person and it might have column name: Person_First_Name or maybe even Person_Person_First_Name (don't ask me why you see person 2x) Why is it considered a bad practice to pre-fix column names? Are underscores considered evil in SQL as well? Note: I own Pro SQL Server 2008 - Relation Database design and implementation. References to that book are welcome.

• Switch Hosts With Gmail Account Attached

  Hi, I am transferring a client from their old host to my new one. Their domain-based gmail/apps account was connected to their old host, so when I changed the domain's name servers to the new host, naturally the gmail account stopped working. So I added the 7 MX records tho the new host's DNS and verified I own the domain on the new host's FTP but the email still isn't working. Is there something I'm missing? I added the MX records to the new host about two hours ago, is it possible it just takes longer than that? Also, outgoing mail seems to work. Members of the domain can't receive email though, just sends back an error. Thanks, Wade

  I need an account system added to my website as a plugin to all of my HTML pages. The account system plugin needs to,register new users, log in current users, remove users who want to disconnect service, and manipulate all of these things via database on my web server. However, I do not know how to program in the PHP language or create and manipulate MySQL databases. I want a program that can create and manipulate the MySQL database automatically for my website and handle also PHP calls automatically. Are there any open source freeware programs out there that i can use? If so what are the names of these freeware?

• Sex - in domain name is this bad???

  In short I am working with a company that does trade shows... one of their new domain names has the word 'sex' in but completely innocently. EXAMPLE: www. someproductsexpo .com (Being 'some' 'products' 'expo'). The content is completely inoffensive and I do not see there being any other things that would flag either the web or any emails sent from [email protected] as inappropriate. I was just wondering if any has experiences of any domains like this or comments to add? Thanks

• Moving from one DNS provider to another

  I had registered with a particular DNS provider X and I have been unhappy with their services and now when the time for renewal came, I did not renew and I let it expire. I am hoping that once it is expired from this provider, I would be able to sign up for the same domain name from an alternative provider which I have tested and I am satisfied. What kind of precautions should I take? The domain name is not a critical one, it is of a NGO and we prefer to own it again without any change in the name. The information given by the expiry notice says Domains can be renewed between 90 days before and 14 days after the expiry date. If domains are not renewed they will be removed from the account and set for deletion. Should I wait for time till gets deleted at their end so that I can sign up for the same from another provider?

  I've been to system settings and to User Accounts. My account is the only one on the system and I have previously been able to UnLock the screen so that I could set my account to login without password prompt. That didn't make any effect on the system. I still have to enter a password to log in, but now I can't unlock the User Accounts dialog to make any changes at all. What do I need to reset? note how the unlock box in the upper right hand corner isn't available for selection...

  I have a couple of functions inside a class that essentially do the same thing: public function fn_a(){ return __FUNCTION__; } public function fn_b(){ return __FUNCTION__; } public function fn_c(){ return __FUNCTION__; } I need those functions to remain in their current names so I intentionally did not do: public function fn_($letter){ return __FUNCTION__.$letter; } I was hoping for some sort of way to minify the verboseness of code here, since they all do the same. The ultimate situation would be something like this: public functions fn_a, fn_b, fn_c() { return __FUNCTION__; } Another solution, if applicable, might be doing something like Class's "extends": fn_b, fn_c extend fn_a? What do you think guys?

• Powershell Active Directory Account Attribute to a variable

  Sorry for the newbie question. I am using Powershell 3 to get a list of all user accounts. I am trying to generate an output for accounts, either "Enabled" or "Disabled". I am able to get the account status code from active directory using: $rc = $Rech.PropertiesToLoad.Add("userAccountControl"); That will display the correct account status code. When I try to use an if statement on the value, I dont get any result. How do I put this value into a variable to use some logic with it? In the end, my requirements are to have the output to an CSV file that I can send to HR and have them examin it and instead of a code I would like to have it say "Enabled" or "Disabled". Thank you.

Is there an application/CLI action that would allow me to copy all this names as in a list/table and then, after having translated them, to paste them back into the list/table, or that would allow a procedure somewhat similar to "Rename" in Thunar but with a more complex action closer to what I have described? (I am in Lubuntu and I prefer not to use Nautilus due to unwanted interference with LXDE/pcmanfm desktop and LXPanel. If there is a solution in Nautilus please provide it but try to give an alternative if possible.)

• Cannot login to newly created user account

  Trying to switch accounts to my newly created account I get a black screen and then it takes me back to the main login screen after entering the correct password. Upon logging into my previously existing account I get: "System Program Problem Detected" Details: Executable path /usr/bin/Xorg Package: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10.1 Details: Crash ... (tons more, but no way to copy paste or save) When I try to su su -l penner I get: No directory, logging in with HOME=/ I manually created the home directory and this error goes away but still no luck with the login. Seems something has gone wrong with the user creation? How can I correct this?

• Getting auth token for dropbox account from accountmanager in android

  I am trying to get auth token for a dropbox account configured in device from account manager. I am using accountManager.getAuthToken(account, "DROPBOX",null,Hello.this, new GetAuthTokenCallback(), null);//account" is dropbox account I am seeing a Allow/Deny page. I click on Allow, but the callback is not getting invoked at all and i dont get the auth token. I got the authtoken for a google account with this(with a different authtokentype). What i am missing. I am not sure about the authTokenType parameter for dropbox. Also are there any other parameter specific for dropbox like the bundle parameter that i am missing. Is this way possible for dropbox? For example my member John has access to a page name "Edit your account" where he can fill some fields and updates his info.   I'm creating a card game, and wish to offer players to choose from different sets of playing cards. The game logic remains the same, only the design and graphics on the cards would be different. It would feature classic French set, German/Hungarian one, and a bunch of other custom designed ones. I'm looking for some cool names to give to those sets. I thought maybe to use names of some world cities like "London set", "Paris set", "Tokyo set", but there might be something better. I know this is really open-ended question, so there might not be a definitive "correct" answer, but I hope this kind of brainstorming would be useful to anyone looking for ideas to name a set of... well, anything. I'll up-vote any good idea, no matter if I don't end up using any of those.

• Will URL encoding the image names

  Just wondering if it makes any difference to Google whether or not I URL encode the image names when linking to them. For example if I have an image named "test-1234-!.jpg", does it make a difference if I name it refer to it as "test-1234-%21.jpg"? The reason I am asking is because I am doing a major shift in the way my website works and while all new image names will not be URL encoded, all of the past ones are. I want to see if it is worth it renaming all of them or if I should just leave it like that.
