  • Easily Tweak Windows 7 and Vista by Adding Tabs to Explorer, Creating Context Menu Entries, and More

    - by Lori Kaufman
7Plus is a very useful, free tool for Windows 7 and Vista that adds a lot of features to Windows, such as the ability to add tabs to Windows Explorer, set up hotkeys for common tasks, and other settings to make working with Windows easier. 7Plus is powered by AutoHotkey and allows most of the features to be fully customized. You can also create your own features by creating custom events. 7Plus does not need to be installed. Simply extract the files from the .zip file you downloaded (see the link at the end of this article) and double-click on the 7plus.exe file. • Is IE Collection reliable tool for testing with various versions of Internet Explorer?

    - by rsturim
On my Windows machine -- I typically test different versions of Internet Explorer using an array of Virtual Machine instances (which obviously requires a fair amount of investment in time and money). In a pinch I have also used IETester -- which at times can be a little unreliable. However, I just discovered IE Collection and was wondering if people have used it -- and can I rely on it for web page testing purposes? Would love to know what you think.

  • jquery ui tabs load event does not fire

    - by illdev
I have got the following very simple code: function init() { var articleTabs = $('#articleTabs'); articleTabs.tabs('add', admin.pageVars.siteRoot + '/articles/themes/' + admin.pageVars.params.id, 'Temas'); articleTabs.tabs({ load : function(event, ui) { $('.jsonForm').jsonForm(); } }); } This successfully adds a new tab panel to an existing tab control. However upon activation, the load function does never fire. What is my mistake? (There are no javascript exceptions)

  • JQuery UI Tabs - "Loading..." message

    - by Balu
All, I am using Jquery UI nested tabs. I was just wondering if there is any way to display an AJAX Spinner image next to the tab text, while the tab is loading. I do not want to change the tab text to "Loading..". Consider that when multiple tabs are loading at the same time or one after the other, the spinner image should be displayed next to each loading tab.. Any Suggestions? Thanks

  • Notepad++ tabs to spaces

    - by Helephant
Does anyone know how to convert tabs to spaces in Notepad++? I found a webpage that suggests it's possible (http://www.texteditors.info/notepad-replacements-compared.php) but I couldn't find any information about how to do it. I like to be able to do that because some web forms don't respect code with tabs in it.

  • Browser history, by window

    - by Alex
I use Chrome --but can switch to another browser if the feature I am about to describe is available. Browsing history, AFAIK in Chrome is sorted exclusively chronologically. Very often however, I will be working on a particular task on my laptop and have multiple (read: a lot) of tabs open in a single Chrome window for that task. Before finishing that task, I may need to work on something else --so I will open another window and minimize the other one, and start researching an entirely different issue. Over the course of a day, I may end up with 10-15 windows with many tabs each. This raises two issues: (a) memory usage and (b) quickly switching between the most relevant two or three windows. I solve these two problems like any regular guy probably would --closing windows. I want to be able to reopen specific windows that I have closed, such that the tabs that were open in that window at the time the window was closed will reopen. Ideally, closed windows will be sorted by the time they were closed and identified by the tabs that were open (even more ideally, I would be able to name these windows (contemporaneously or in the history menu)). Now that I describe this, what I am asking is: does any browser offer the ability to "save and close" windows? (This is distinct from an option to auto-restore tabs upon reopening the browser) Thank you.

  • How to run sandboxed web browser with extensions

    - by Nrew
I followed the steps here on how to create a sandboxed web browser using Sandboxie. So that you won't have to right-click a shortcut everytime and choose run sandboxed. And so that I could set a keyboard shortcut for the sandboxed web browser. I am using Iron browser, but when I try to execute the shortcut created by sandboxie. It doesn't have extensions in it. What do I do in order to load the extensions along with the browser

  • How to do browser detection with jQuery 1.3 with $.browser.msie deprecated?

    - by Darryl Hein
How should browser detection be done now that jQuery 1.3 has deprecated (and I'm assuming removed in a future version) $.browser.msie and similar? I have used this a lot for determining which browser we are in for CSS fixes for pretty much every browser, such as: $.browser.opera $.browser.safari $.browser.mozilla ... well I think that's all of them :) The places where I use it, I'm not sure what browser issue is causing the problem, because a lot of times I'm just trying to fix a 1 px difference in a browser. Edit: With the new jQuery functionality, there is no way to determine if you are in IE6 or IE7. How should one determine this now?

  • Save chromium browser's session

    - by Anwar Shah
How to manually save session in chromium-brower. I have a Notebook with damaged battery (only gives 5~6 minutes of backup, planning to buy a new one), and in our country "Load Shedding" (power outages) is quite common. So, I had to close my session before shutting down my laptop. When I re-open chromium, there is no tab with previous session. The question is: How can i manually save my session before closing the laptop?

  • Advices and strategies for browser compatibility on web applications into a corporate environment

    - by TiagoBrenck
With the new CSS 3 and HTML 5 tecnology, the web applications gained a lot of new tools for a better UI(user interface) interaction, beautifull templates and even responsive layout to fit into tablets and smartphones. Within a corporate environment, those new tecnologies are required so the company can "follow" the IT evolution and their concurrent, but they also want that those new web applications supports old browsers. How to deal with this situation? By one side we are asked to follow the news and IT evolutions, create responsive layouts and use a lot of cool jQuery's plugins. And by the other side, we are asked to support old browsers that doesn't support those new responsive features, plugins or components. I would like advices and strategies to create "modern" web applications that are also supported on old browsers. How does your company deal with this situation? Is it possible to have the same web application running good and beauty on old browsers, and responsive, interactive on actual browsers?

  • Mobile phone detection (brand, model, browser etc)

    - by SyaZ
What do you use to detect visitor's mobile phone, down to the model if possible? Currently we maintain our own database but it's really getting behind due to lack of manpower to maintain it, so we decided to give 3rd party solution a try. These are my candidates but I don't have time to really try them all: DeviceAtlas - 1 year personal evaluation, but basic license is affordable. Their database look solid with daily update and user-contributed tests / updates. I am favoring this one at the moment. DetectRight - I was recommended this by a colleague but really can't find much from their site. 20k devices -- really? WURFL - Open source, database collaboratively derived from UAProf. So basically if you're going with UAProf solution, you're better off with WURFL. DetectMoBileBrowsers - This looks like the simplest of all. Too bad it's language dependent (PHP). Please share your experience or suggestions!

  • browser without gpu support

Google has an Easter egg that draws 3D graph but when I tried it out on chrome it complained about no WebGL support. I've also tested it on Firefox whose WebGL support was enabled but ended up with the same problem. Thus, I suspect it's an issue of my GPU. • Browser support for internal corporate tools

    - by adam
We are on the verge of a conversion. For years, our company supported only IE for its internal (intranet) home-built tools. Since a few of our users are still on XP, which means IE only goes up to 8... a heavily JS / jQuery site wont even load! We have been in the process of converting to use Chrome instead, to make use of its javascript performance. But, it has now been suggested that we support all common browsers... internally for these tools. Which means more development time to scale-back some of these new applications, more time to test in all browsers, and we are already under staffed. Are there any good informational sites/posts out there, that already make this argument?

  • converted javascript to fbjs - tabs still not working

    - by JohnMerlino
    Hey all, I tried my best to convert javascript to fbjs according to this page: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/FBJS. Yet my tabs are still not working properly. Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this so I can click through the tabs and display and hide content accordingly: <script type="text/javascript"><!-- var tabLinks = []; var contentDivs = []; function init() { var tabListItems = document.getElementById('tabs').getChildNodes(); for ( var i = 0; i < tabListItems.length; i++ ) { if ( tabListItems[i].getNodeName("LI") ) { var tabLink = getFirstChildWithTagName( tabListItems[i], 'A' ); var id = getHash( tabLink.getAttribute('href') ); tabLinks[id] = tabLink; contentDivs[id] = document.getElementById( id ); } } var i = 0; for ( var id in tabLinks ) { tabLinks[id].addEventListener(onclick, showTab) tabLinks[id].addEventListener(onfocus, function() { this.blur() }; if ( i == 0 ) tabLinks[id].setClassName('selected'); i++;) } var i = 0; for ( var id in contentDivs ) { if ( i != 0 ) contentDivs[id].setClassName('tabContent hide'); i++; } } function showTab() { var selectedId = getHash( this.getAttribute('href') ); for ( var id in contentDivs ) { if ( id == selectedId ) { tabLinks[id].setClassName('selected'); contentDivs[id].setClassName('tabContent'); } else { tabLinks[id].setClassName(''); contentDivs[id].setClassName('tabContent hide'); } } return false; } function getFirstChildWithTagName( element, tagName ) { for ( var i = 0; i < element.getChildNodes().length; i++ ) { if ( element.getChildNodes[i].getNodeName(tagName) ) return element.getChildNodes[i]; } } function getHash( url ) { var hashPos = url.getLastIndexOf ( '#' ); return url.getSubString( hashPos + 1 ); } init(); --></script> Thanks for any response.

  • Follow tab's url in jquery ui tabs

    - by Aakash Chakravarthy
Hello, I have jquery tabs like <ul id="tabsList"> <li><a href="#tab-1">Name 1</a></li> <li><a href="#tab-2">Name 2</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.google.com/">Name 3</a></li> </ul> <div id="tab-1">content 1</div> <div id="tab-2">content 2</div> the first two tabs load the respective divs. But the third one should go to google.com, instead it does nothing. It just adds http://example.com/index.html#ui-tabs-[object Object] to the url. I am developing a wordpress plugin and the admin page needs a tab interface. I tested this in a local server and not working update: i don't want to load google.com inside the page. It should open the webpage in new tab/window like ordinary links do.

  • First tab doesnt show with Jquery UI Tabs using Cufon

    - by BoulderDave
I'm using Cufon to render the font for my Jquery Tabs. A strange problem I'm finding is that with the first tab, the text isn't rendered. If I remove Cufon, the text is there, or if I remove jquery tabs (so that its just html list items) the text is there (properly rendered by cufon). There seems to be timing issue with the loading I think, where cufon renders the text, but then the jquery tabs css is applied, and perhaps they are 'breaking' each other. Anybody had this issue? $(document).ready(function() { Cufon.replace('.tab'); }); <ul class="tabnav"> <li><a href="bottoms.html" title="Bottoms"><div class="tab">Bottoms</div></a></li> <li><a href="tops.html" title="Tops"><div class="tab">Tops</div></a></li> <li><a href="skirts.html" title="Skirts"><div class="tab">Skirts</div></a></li> <li><a href="dresses.html" title="Dresses"><div class="tab">Dresses</div></a></li> <li><a href="shoes.html" title="Shoes"><div class="tab">Shoes</div></a></li> </ul>
