  • Shopping for a very compact and powerful workstation [closed]

    I'm on the market for something small, size of an Mac Mini, could be heavier, that packs a lot of compute power - goal is to have a fast, known development machine at customer's site, but still easier to fly with than desktop-replacement laptops. If Mac Mini came with a quad-core i7, it would be my likely choice. Any other manufacturers to look at? Or perhaps a Mini can be upgraded beyond official specs?

  • 8GB Compact Flash Corrupted, Boot Sector Lost ?

    I have an 8GB Kingston compact Flash, and when I insert it into my mac it says that card is unredable and ask me for initialization. If i open Utilty Disk it show a card of 2,2 TB Generic Comact Flash, if I try to initialize that it give me error: POSIX reports: impossible to allocate memory. How i can format that ? There's a way with fdisk or smt to get this card work ? Thanks

    I use Linq to Sql Compact with code generated by sqlmetal. When I open an invalid database, like eg an mp3, I can create the DataContext without getting an Exception. But when I query any data or call DatabaseExists, the application hangs. Why is no exception thrown? Is this a known problem?

    When working with NHibernate and Sql Compact in a Windows Form application I am wondering what is the best practice for managing connections. With SQL CE I have read that you should keep your connection open vs closing it as one would typically do with standard SQL. If that is the case and your using a IoC, would you make your repositories lifetime be singletons so they exist forever or dispose of them after you perform a "Unit of Work". Also is there a way to determine the number of connections open to Sql CE?

Is there any compact way of doing so in matlab or must I use a for-loop?   • How to syncronize merge subscription in Sql Compact DB (on a Mobile device emulator)

    Using SQL ManagementStudio 2008 I created SQL 3.5 Compact DB (TestCompact.sdf) and I have created subscription to existing Publication. Using SQL Management Studio it is working. I have transfered TestCompact.sdf to Windows Mobile 5 emulator device and with QueryAnalyzer for Mobile I could query existing tables in TestCompact.sdf. I don't know how to start replication synchronization on that mobile device. Do I need to write some C# code or it is possible do it more simple?

    Have been browsing across the net, and seems everyone who got into this mess, really slogged to get out of it,... and now my turn! http://stackoverflow.com/questions/999534/ie-p3p-iframe-and-blocked-cookies-works-until-page-host-page-has-personal-info been reading alot, and i have a very simple p3p policy here: http: // bit.ly/cCyGi5 and corresponding P3P compact policy: P3P: CP="COM DEM INT NAV OTC PRE PUR STA NOI DSP COR ADMi DEVi OUR BUS" I have validated my P3P policy via the validator at w3c, I have tried "privacy bird" IE extension, and it says my P3P.xml matches with my privacy settings, and has no conflict, my compact policy matches with my P3P policy, coz some where i read IE7 matches the two!!! If i lower my privacy settings in IE, the cookies get restricted, and if i further lower it to allow all, it gets thru, so it is my P3P compact policy the coz, and needs fixing. If someone can guide me in the right direction, or if i can hire someone for an hour or two to look into it. M.

    Hi, I have a C#.NET desktop application using SQL Compact edition as data store. The application should be used by any user on the machine and all should be seeing the same data ( data should not different per user). I am wondering where should I deploy the SDF file? User's Personal data folder (My Documents) means each user will have a separate database. Deploying on the same folder as the application causes vista to copy the file to \USers\Appdata\local\VirtualStore\ and it seems to make different copies for each user. Where is it best to deploy the SDF file to ensure all users are looking at the same data?

  • Graphviz DOT arrange Nodes in circles, layout too "compact"

    I'm halfway there please see the edit OK here's my problem, I'm generating a graph of a python module, including all the files with their functions/methods/classes. I want to arrange it so, that nodes gather in circles around their parent nodes, currently everything is on one gargantuan horizontal row, which makes the thing 50k pixels wide and also let's the svg converter fail(only renders about the half of the graph). I went trough the docs(http://www.graphviz.org/doc/info/attrs.html) but couldn't find anything that seems to do the trick. So the question is: Is there a simple way to do this or do I have to layout the whole thing by myself? :/ EDIT: Thanks to Andrews comment I've got the right layout, the only problem now is that it's a bit to "compact"... so the question now is, how to fix this?

I'm building an MFC app in Visual Studio 2008 which classifies textures and I need some sort of lightweight database to hold the characteristics (just some doubles and strings) which can be: -carried around with the app on different computers; -be able to perform queries on it from the app (searches , updates ,inserts ,etc); Currently I'm looking into SQL compact edition because it was very easy to create from Visual Studio ( I also need only one table) but I having a hard time connecting and updating the db from C++. This is what I've found on msdn regarding C++ and SQLCE: public: void createSqlCeConnection(){ SqlCeConnection* myConnection = new SqlCeConnection(); myConnection->ConnectionString = "DataSource = blabla.sdf"; MessageBox::Show(String::Format( S"Connection State: {0}", __box(myConnection->State))); } Unfortunately my experience with .net apps is pretty limited. Hopefully you bright minds could tell me if I'm on the right path and what links and includes should I add for this to work with an C++ MFC projects. Thanks !

    Dont know whether this is a duplicate, but this was an interview question asked to me. Given an array of random numbers and -1 placed inbetween, I have to compact the array meaning all the -1s are to be replaced and the final output should be the last valid index with the fresh array. For example. Input: 3 4 -1 -1 -1 5 8 -1 8 Output: 3 4 5 8 8 5 8 -1 8 and last valid index is 4 Input: -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 2 Output: 2 -1 -1 -1 -1 2 and last valid index is 0 Input: -1 -1 -1 3 3 3 Output: 3 3 3 3 3 3 and last valid index is 2 You should not swap the values just the last valid index along with the array is enough to decipher the non negative values.

    Hello, I am using LINQ-To-Entities in C# and run queries against a SQL Compact Server 3.5 SP2. What I try to achieve is a simple group by with an additional where clause which includes a Count(). var baseIdent="expression"; var found=from o in ObservedElements where o.ObservedRoots.BaseIdent==baseIdent group o by o.ID into grouped where grouped.Count()==1 select new {key=grouped.Key, val=grouped}; foreach(var res in found){ //do something here } This query throws the famous exception "A parameter is not allowed in this location. Ensure that the '@' sign and all other parameters are in a valid location in the SQL statement." When I either omit the where clause OR directly enter the expression "expression" in the query (where o.ObservedRoots.BaseIdent=="expression") everything just works fine. Does anybody know how to solve this? Workaround would also be fine? Thanks in advance, Sebastian

    I am using SQL Server Compact 3.5 edition with Entity Framework and I want to have exclusive lock on the database as documented here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171817.aspx. However when you pass this in a connection string to Entity Framework it does not respect this at all.     Hello. I'm currently trying to install the "new" Microsoft WebMatrix Beta 2 (a web programming IDE). I was trying to use Web Platform Installer for this. But it 404's on the SQL Compact 4.0 CPT2 and it's tools. I was able to get the runtime from the Microsoft downloads page but the tools I am not able to find. I can not install WebMatrix because the tools are a prerequisite. Does anybody know where to get them from now?

    Hello all, I've got a vBoxLayout which contains 3 simple buttons, when I increase the size of the widget containing the layout, the spacing between the buttons increases. I would like to stop this behaviour and keep the buttons in a consistent and compact layout, regardless of the size of the parent widget.     Hi, Our product is using MS SQL Compact Edition on a Windows machine (laptop). It's basically a metadata index for files we have on the filesystem. Recently we have seen databases getting corrupted. This happens when the machine is very busy moving files around and has to do a tiny bit of database changes at the same time. I was somewhat shocked that was at all possible. It was my expectation that the database would stay coherent whatever the circumstances. Of course we are doing something wrong. Things we have checked so far are: Use of only one db connection per thread specify the maximum size when opening the database The database is accessed only by one application, a .net based windows service. Are there other gotcha's?
