  • make reference to an empty query in flex

    a bit of a dumb questions I'm sure I'm trying to allow user to set an item to be default. I've got a function that run a query to first find the current default item. Then runs a second query that unsets the current default item. Then a third query runs to set the new user selected item to be the default. This seem to work fine when a default item has been perviously selected, but when I try to set the default item initially I get the good old "Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference." error. This is because the first query that runs returns no items I'm sure. So I need to write an if statement that if the first query returns nothing to skip the second and go right to the third. The only problem is I can't make a reference to a null object. So how do I go about writing this statement. Thanks

  • Flex Debugger wont launch - Only on particular project.

    When trying to launch Flex debaugger on my project, it does not launch and I get an error instead. Every other project in different workspaces launches just fine. This is the only one giving me an issue. Here is the error: Process terminated without establishing connection to debugger.   • Deploying my flex application

    Hi, I am doing some trial testing awith Amazon ec2 boxes, deploying flex apps running on top of restlet powered webservices. I have this problem - Everytime i deploy the app to the cloud, I'm having to hardcode the IP address of the server into the ActionScript/MXML files (http://72.93.48.39:8080/xxx/abc/) and for certain reasons, i am forced to choose a different IP everytime. and i think its really not the right way to deploy the application. I would like to know what other people do in such scenarios? On thinking about it, i thought i could make it pickup values from the HTMLVars of the HTML wrapper. but that again has to be edited everytime again and again. will it be possible to be able to supply these values : server's ip address, server's port number(in case its not 8080 on some machine) at build time? if so can anyone give me a barbones sample build.xml just as an example?

This white square between scrollbars(view the image) ruibs all my design and i need to disable it, make it invisible, change it background color, alpha or smth like this. I have a design like this in one page have two option like this Hard & soft when i click hard(option) there will show three option(in php got to another page) like standard, square & pocket and in the page below BACK(when click this option it will back previous state(page)) option will be show When mouse over on any option's this will show its properties in any side of page when select any one of them it will go next step(page) for more performance.   • How do I animate a single ChartSeriesItem in a Flex 3 Chart?

    Here's my setup... I have a ColumnChart above a DataGrid. When the user clicks on an individual column in the chart, I programmatically select the corresponding cell in the DataGrid. Conversely, if a user clicks a cell on the DataGrid, I select the corresponding column in the Chart and change it's color to haloBlue. This work well, however if possible I’d like to make the column stand out more. Is there a way to animate an individual column and not the entire series? For example, I might like to make the column zoom or expand out and back to it’s original size once selected. Or, if this is not possible, can a stroke be added to only the selected column and not the entire series? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

  • Flex 3 - Image flickers at first load

    Hello Community! I have an application with different components that are accessible through a viewstack in the main application. The main application looks like that: <Application> <Viewstack> <myComponent1/> <myComponent2/> <myComponent3/> . . . </Viewstack> </Application> In myComponent1, I have a horizontalList where the user can select a product. In myComponent2, I have 2 containers inside the component. A left container with a larger image of the product selected in myComponent1 and a right container with all characteristics of the product. Both containers have an embed background image. When I select a product in myComponent1, the application displays myComponent2. When the component is displayed, I first see the page without the large image of the product, then both containers flickers and the product image is displayed. How could I avoid this flickering?   • Flex 3 - Send a HTTP Get request from Flash and want Firefox to show Open With Box.

    Hi all, I am a newb developer as far as Flex and Flash is concerned. This is what I'm trying to do: 1) Send a HTTP request to our server (with a custom made URL). The URL basically tells the server to send data in a CSV format. 2) The server sends a 200 OK response, which has Content-Type: application/csv and the payload is pure CSV data. What I wish to do is, when firefox gets this 200 OK response, I want it to show the standard Open with box (the one that shows up when you download some file). I tried doing this with HTTPService. I have a "Export to CSV" button on the flash component. Upon clicking that, the flash component is able to succesfully send the HTTP request. I however don't want Flash component to handle the response, so I don't have the 's "result" tag defined. But nothing happens. Any suggestions on how to do this.

  • Flex RemoteObject Intermittently Failing to Invoke CFC

    I have a Flex app that uses Flash Remoting and the RemoteObject to pull data from a ColdFusion CFC. About 75% of the time it works, but the other times I get a message using Charles (a debugging tool) that says faultString = "Unable to Invoke CFC". FaultCode = "Server.Processing". Here's my RemoteObject: The server set up on our web farm is to use load balancing. I'm not sure if this is causing the problem or not. Probably not, but it's a thought. Any help is appreciated!!

    I want to create a component that has a couple of "holes" that are to be filled in differently on each use. Currently, I'm doing it like this (using the Flex 4 framework in this example --- it would look almost the same for Flex 3): public var fooComponent : IVisualElement; public var barComponent : IVisualElement; override protected function createChildren() : void { super.createChildren(); fooContainer.addElement(fooComponent); barContainer.addElement(barComponent); } <Group id="fooContainer"/> <!-- ... other components ... --> <Group id="barContainer"/> This works well, but it's kind of a lot of code to write for something so simple.   • How can should I set up Flex 3 projects that reference common controls?

    I'm not a flash developer, I'm having issues figuring out how I should set up these two projects that I have in Flex Builder. I've already created projA which has a .mxml that references several custom controls & skins from com.xxx.controls within projA I now have to build projB which also has a .mxml that will create a different .swf. I want to use some of the same controls from projA I currently build projA through the command line and nant and will need to do the same for projB. Should I create a new project to move all of the common controls into? How do I then use this library project in both the projects & compile via command? Thanks!

For that I Googled & got a way i.e var findrowindex:int = 0; //nextButton Click Handler var focusedCell: Object = new Object(); focusedCell. columnIndex = 3; focusedCell. rowIndex = findrowindex; dg.editedItemPosition = focusedCell; dg.validateNow( ); findrowindex++; Using this I am able to get focus in a cell but the focus is not moving from one cell to another.   • Flex 4.5 - to long build process

    We are developing an app using flex 4.5. The app runs just fine (no performance issues at all) but it takes us forever to compile and build it. A minor change, like just add a comment or press enter in an mxml file and rebuild takes about 3 minutes. You just cant work that way. It is a large project with about 1300 files. We also use Parsley as IOC container and a beat of cairngorm navigation. We also use Maven (Flex mojos) but I am talking about a normal eclipse build (Ctrl + B). We separated some of the code to a different SWC and all of our graphics are stored in a different resource SWF. Please, Do you have any suggestions? Regards, Ido

  • CheckBox gets converted to Button in Flex

    Hi, I am new to Flex, so please bear with me. I have encountered a strange problem. There's a ActionScript class which dynamically creates basic UI element. So I create RadioButton as var rBtn:RadioButton = new RadioButton(); and then put it in a Panel Container. The problem is that it appears to be a Button. However it behaves like RadioButton. I have found this problem with one more guy who has posted it here. CheckBoxes and RadioButton looks like Push Buttons. Please help me out with this. Thanks.

    Can I somehow find out what was the change in the textfield? I would want to compare the old text with the new text ... the problem is, that I have multiple textAreas in a tab-editor, and all the textAreas are watched by one eventListener. I want to get a value calculated by the next formula: globalChangeCount += thisTextArea.currentCharacterCount - thisTextArea.oldtCharacterCount where the globalChangeCount is a value modified by all changes in any of the textAreas. I am searching for these values through the event variable, but can't seam to find the old text of the textArea.

    Hi all I am using list component in flex & using custom itemRenderer i.e I have made a component named frameRenrer(there are two controls ImageControl and label control) where I set the image source and label text on creationComplete event.And I providing the data using dataProvider function in List component.But actually problem is that when I scroll this list only 4 items are displayed repeatedly and to check it I make a function on mouseOver of image control in this I am using Alert.show(data.label); then it shows the correct data but it is not displayed in the list.In data provider I am using ArrayCollection. What is the problem anyone????

  • Creating custom taskbar icon in Flex application

    I'm trying to create custom icons for my taskbar/desktop icons in my Flex WindowedApplication. So far, I've edited my -app.xml file to include the following: icons/t_16.png icons/t_32.png icons/t_48.png icons/t_128.png When the application is run, however, the default flex/air icon is still showing. I have my systemChrome set to standard, and transparent to false, not that they have any relevance to this. Any ideas?
