  • Is there a tool for generating a DSL parser that does not require a runtime for the resultant parser

    I'm doing a lot of work with a DSLs at the moment and was wondering if anyone knew of a tool that could generate a parser for my bnf specification that does not require a run-time library (pure java source parser)? I'm committed to using XTEXT for a future Eclipse plug-in but I need a nice small version for my library itself and don't want to add another jar dependency. It seems that ANTLR requires a run-time to parse files and I performed a Google search with no avail. Can anyone help out? Thanks, Chris

    Hi Iam looking for a php parser that can do this. {tag} Replace the tag with text comming from a function {tag(params)} It must support params {tag({tag(params)},{tag(params)})} It must support nesting {tag()? else } It must support Tests {$tag=value} It must support varriables Do anyone of you know of an parser that can do this? Or maby you know how i can create one. I have tryed to do this with preg, but it seems impossible to create nesting. Smarty seems to be a bit to big, and i dont know if you can disable all the extra functionality it has. I only need the functionality that i have listet over. In smarty your able to write php code and i dont like that. {php} {/php} So if iam going to use that i need to be able to turn it of. (Iam going to use it with codeigniter.)

  • What is a good Javascript RDFa parser implementation?

    I am looking to implement a client side RDFa based formatting for a web application. This would be similar to Mark Birbeck's ubiquity-rdfa project. Mark's project looks fantastic but it has at least two drawbacks: It is slow. Adding RDFa formatting to a simple page causes a noticeable delay in page loading. It is complex. The ubiquity-rdfa project makes use of the w3c fresnel specification which is complex way to add simple annotations to client markup. I am looking for a lighter weight way of adding annotations through client code and I don't mind doing some work to get it. What I would like is a fast and reliable Javascript RDFa parser. Some implementations that I have found include: W3C RDFa bookmarklet parser Elias Torres RDFa extractor I am interested to know if you would recommend one of these, or another, RDFa Javascript implementation.   • ICalendar parser in PHP that supports timezones

    I am looking for a PHP class that can parse an ICalendar (ICS) file and correctly handle timezones. I already created an ICS parser myself but it can only handle timezones known to PHP (like 'Europe/Paris'). Unfortunately, ICS file generated by Evolution (default calendar software of Ubuntu) does not use default timezone IDs. It exports events with its a specific timezone ID exporting also the full definition of the timezone: daylight saving dates, recurrence rule and all the hard stuff to understand about timezones. This is too much for me. Since it was only a small utility for my girlfriend, I won't have time to investigate further the ICalendar specification and create a full blown ICalendar parser myself. So is there any known implementation in PHP of ICalendar file format that can parse timezones definitions?

  • Line breaks in XML are ignored by the SAX Parser

    I am parsing an XML with some CData that contains line breaks. The parser ignores these line breaks. I am trying to figure out a way to catch these newlines in the characters() method and replace them with a break tag for display purposes. I have tried almost everything under the sun and have been scouring stackoverflow for the past 3 hours. I tried every combination of replacing "\n", "\r\n" and so on with a break tag in the characters() method of the parser. I am absolutely helpless right about now.... and would sincerely appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!!!

    I would like to create simple xml parser using bison/flex. I don't need validation, comments, arguments, only <tag>value</tag>, where value can be number, string or other <tag>value</tag>. So for example: <div> <mul> <num>20</num> <add> <num>1</num> <num>5</num> </add> </mul> <id>test</id> </div> If it helps, I know the names of all tags that may occur. I know how many sub-tag can be hold by given tag. Is it possible to create bison parser that would do something like that: - new Tag("num", 1) // tag1 - new Tag("num", 5) // tag2 - new Tag("add", tag1, tag2) // tag3 - new Tag("num", 20) // tag4 - new Tag("mul", tag4, tag3) ... - root = top_tag Tag & number of sub-tags: num: 1 (only value) str: 1 (only value) add | sub | mul | div: 2 (num | str | tag, num | str | tag) Could you help me with grammar to be able to create AST like given above?

  • I need a fast runtime expression parser

    I need to locate a fast, lightweight expression parser. Ideally I want to pass it a list of name/value pairs (e.g. variables) and a string containing the expression to evaluate. All I need back from it is a true/false value. The types of expressions should be along the lines of: varA == "xyz" and varB==123 Basically, just a simple logic engine whose expression is provided at runtime. UPDATE At minimum it needs to support ==, !=, , =, <, <= Regarding speed, I expect roughly 5 expressions to be executed per request. We'll see somewhere in the vicinity of 100/requests a second. Our current pages tend to execute in under 50ms. Usually there will only be 2 or 3 variables involved in any expression. However, I'll need to load approximately 30 into the parser prior to execution. UPDATE 2012/11/5 Update about performance. We implemented nCalc nearly 2 years ago. Since then we've expanded it's use such that we average 40+ expressions covering 300+ variables on post backs. There are now thousands of post backs occurring per second with absolutely zero performance degradation. We've also extended it to include a handful of additional functions, again with no performance loss. In short, nCalc met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations.

    I'm making an open source C# library for other developers to use. My key concern is ease of use. This means using intuitive names, intuitive method usage and such. This is the first time I've done something with other people in mind, so I'm really concerned about the quality of the architecture. Plus, I wouldn't mind learning a thing or two. :) I have three classes: Downloader, Parser and Movie I was thinking that it would be best to only expose the Movie class of my library and have Downloader and Parser remain hidden from invocation.   • How do I accurately handle a batch separator for SQL from C#

    For Data Explorer I would like to add support for a Batch separator. So for example if users type in: select 'GO' go select 1 as go Go select 100 I would like to return the three result sets. Its clear that I need some sort of parser here, my hope is that this is a solved problem and I can just plug it in. (writing a full T-SQL parser is not something I would like to do) What component / demo code could achieve splitting this batch into its 3 parts?

  • Any good SASS parser for PHP?

    I'm currently using a modified CSS Cacheer as an alternative but its syntax is somewhat vague and adoption is, well, abysmally low... Documentation is hard to come by as well. I'm looking to switch to SASS as it has a bigger user base than CSS Cacheer and better documentation. I am aware of phpHaml but it doesn't have support for SASS yet. Any recommendation on a SASS parser for PHP? Preferably it should support SassScript.

    How does a lexer solve this ambiguity? /*/*/ How is it that it doesn't just say, oh yeah, that's the begining of a multi-line comment, followed by another multi-line comment. Wouldn't a greedy lexer just return the following tokens? /* /* / I'm in the midst of writing a shift-reduce parser for CSS and yet this simple comment thing is in my way.
