    Hi, I need to figure how much time passed between 2 times. For example: (14:00:00 - 13:15:00) * 24 = .75 I need this to later on convert KW to KWh, but that's not the point. I can not find out how to do this in PL/SQL. My date/time fields look like this in the DB: 1/23/2010 21:00:00 I would appreciate any suggestions. Steve

  • Web application starter kit

    I am looking for a site that allows you to input a project name, choose a doctype, a js library etc. and then generates the directory structure and files to start a web project. I know about project deploy, but it is no longer maintained. There was a new one that was created within the last 2 or 3 months, but for the life of me I can't find it either through Google nor my delicious bookmarks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     I am working on a web applicaton. And what we also create is something that could be described as inline editing. Just to portray thing I am trying to solve I use example of Facebook post. You have post like. Steve Jobs added 5 new photos Steve Jobs is link that redirects to his profile so in HTML, that would be: <div class="post-block"> <p><a href="stevejobs/" title="#">Steve Jobs</a> added 5 new photos.<p> </div> But what I want is the whole post "block" to be clickable although I want only that name to appear to be link. Normally in HTML logic would say to to this: <a href="stevejobs/" title="#"><div class="post-block"> <p><a href="stevejobs/" title="#">Steve Jobs</a> added 5 new photos.<p> </div></a> But this isn't semantically correct. Quick look to HTML 4.01 or any other standard says something like this: Links and anchors defined by the A element must not be nested; an A element must not contain any other A elements. How to create it semantically correct other than using javascript and defining div:hover state for the whole "div anchor"?

    Hello, I've been noticing this since Windows Vista. I see it on Windows 7, now, as well. In any case throughout the day I notice that my computer makes apparently random device-connect and/or device-disconnect ("boink") sounds. I suppose it is the same sound you hear when connecting or disconnecting a USB device such as a thumb drive. I've noticed that this happens on each of three computers I work with at home, my wife's computer, and my machine at work. It happens without any user action at all - i.e. I'll be just sitting there (hands off my mouse and keyboard), and the computer will make the sound. There is no visual queue or anything. Just the sound. I have sometimes gone in pursuit of the sound - running virus scans, examining event logs and such, and observing task manager - but have never had any luck tracking this thing down, but have not had any luck. Surely someone else out there must be experiencing this, too. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve

  • Burners freezing the PC when starting lead write in

    hi guys ,am having trouble with new pioneer dvdr-219l dual layer burners ,have replaced old burners with these dual layer ones . they are sata attached ,have tried img burn, xbox360 cookie burner, dvd decrypter, dvd flick , the burners seem ok burning cd and normal dvds but when trying to burn an iso to dual layer they will both freeze at the lead in write , the pc freezes including alt/delete mouse etc so have to re-boot,have tried uninstalling all burning programs that i have to eliminate conflicts and re-installing 1 at a time to see if that was the problem , still no solution am starting to think that maybe i have a bad sata cable the pc and burners dont seem to talk to each other when trying to burn dual layer ,any suggestions ???? this problem is giving me the shits ,ran microsofts fix it program and it said i had no burners installed that were capable of burning , i have had a look at device manager and the burners are there and when trouble shooted it says they are working ok , have noticed in device manager that the driver for these burners is from B.H.A.corporation file version 8.0.0.5. copyright 2000-2006 and they are not digitally sighned these burners are the latest models so how com the drivers are so old ...help please . steve

  • MySQL (local) owner and permissions

    I asked this question on the MySQL forums and got no answer. I asked on StackOverflow and received a recommendation to try on ServerFault. So here I am. I recently successfully installed the 64 bit version of mysql-5.5.8 on a MacBook Pro in the /usr/local directory. To address a completely unrelated software (RVM actually) , I chown-ed my /usr/local directory to $USER, Which made MySQL very unhappy. It complained specifically about the /usr/local/mysql/data directory, so I chown-ed that directory to _mysql:wheel. Everything appears to work again, but it made me wonder if I would have been better off changing the owner of the whole /usr/local/mysql directory, not just the data subdirectory. Since I neglected to make notes of what owner the default installation runs under before rashly changing the owner of the /usr/local directory, could someone tell me what owner and permissions the /usr/local/mysql directory is by default if you don't inadvertently screw it up? :-/ In terms of permissions I'm guessing rwxr-xr-x would be appropriate (that's what the data directory currently has and it appears to be working fine), but reinforcement for that hunch would be appreciated.   • Automatic subdomain wildcard for DHCP-DDNS additions?

    I'm running dhcp-4.0.2 server and bind-9.6.1-P3. When a new Mac OSX DHCP client with the name "harry" connects to the network, the DHCP server gives it a lease, and adds appropriate A & PTR records via DDNS. This works fine; harry.my.domain points to (e.g.) 192.168.1.3, the Mac client knows that its name is harry.my.domain, 192.168.1.3 points back to harry.my.domain, and all that is great. Now I want *.harry.my.domain to resolve to 192.168.1.3, and I don't want to have to go in and add wildcard records into zone files. I want the Mac to connect to the network, and have the hostname and wildcard subdomain resolve to the IP address it's been given. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

  • Reboot fails with "Invalid partition"

    My laptop can't reboot. Any time something restarts the laptop (e.g. to apply Windows updates, or Start Menu-Restart, etc), the computer sits at a black screen with the message "Invalid partition" displayed in console text. When this happens, I power off the computer, then power it back on, and it boots up fine. OK, now the history behind this: This laptop is a new Dell. The day I got it, I used gparted to reclaim 30 GB of disk space that had been allocated to a "recovery partition" in the middle of the laptop's primary drive. (I have DVDs for recovery and I didn't want to waste 30 GB of SSD space on recovery data.) So I used gparted to delete the recovery partition and resize the primary Windows partition to use up the new free space. As expected when resizing a boot partition, the computer would no longer boot. I used Windows Recovery Console to fix the boot process: FIXMBR C: FIXBOOT C: BOOTCFG /rebuild This worked fine and the computer boots up fine. But, as mentioned earlier, the laptop still can't reboot. Any idea on how to fix this without completely reformatting the disk and reinstalling Windows from scratch? It's Windows 7.

  • Ubuntu Newbie Needs Assistance!!

    New Ubuntu User Needs Help!- version 9.10 does not communicate with laptop Hello folks, Several days ago, I installed Ubuntu 9.10 onto my Acer Aspire 3100 laptop, running it alongside Widows Vista as a dual-bootable system. Creation of the Ubuntu boot CD went fine, and the installation onto my hard drive was flawless. Ubuntu opens and behaves as I would expect, except for one little problem. For reasons unknown to me, Ubuntu is not communicating with my laptop's networking hardware, and I have no internet connectivity, even when sitting directly under the wireless router at the local library (literally), which puts out a wickedly-fast signal that my Windows Vista OS auto-detects and immediately connects to. Up in the right side of the Ubuntu desktop, I click on the network icon and it does not show a wireless connection at all, even though I am only a few feet from the router. At home, where I use a dialup modem, I also see no means of getting online. My modem is an HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with Smart CP,manufactured by CXT (Conexant Systems Inc., file version 4.0.13.0, and the driver version is 7.58.0.0). I desparately wish to convert to Ubuntu. I used Mac for ten years, and then Windows for ten years. Now, after 20 years, I want to live out my days as an open-source Ubuntu fanatic. I am ready to give the old status quo the boot! I am an advanced computer user, but I am not a programmer. I seek a solution that is user-friendly for normal people, something equivalent to a driver that I can easily install or activate that will allow Ubuntu to see my hardware and get me connected. Can anyone help me over this hopefully-little glitch so that I can move on in total Ubuntu bliss? My processor is a Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 3500+ at 1.80 GHz, 1.50 GB RAM, and a 32-bit Operating System. I am running Windows Vista Home Basic, Service Pack 2. My current email is [email protected] if you have a workable solution that does not require programmer status to implement. Surely this must be a simple fix that I simply am overlooking, but being the new guy on the block, I have yet to be enlightened. Thanks for your help in coming up to speed!!     As I understand it, the bill forces all Americans to have health insurance. However, I think that the fine for having no health insurance is around $750. But after the year 2014, health insurance companies will not be able to turn customers away for preexisting conditions. Why wouldn't someone pay the fine or buy low end coverage until they got ill and supplement the coverage or buy an extensive plan?

  • Why can't the Adobe Flash player send key strokes it doesn't handle to the browse in which it is run

    I'm a heavy web user that uses the address bar constantly while browsing the web. I often use Ctrl + T to open a new tab or Ctrl + D to move focus to the address bar so it is very annoying that these shortcut keys do not work when a Flash object has focus on the active browser tab. I would happily give up all keyboard handling in the Flash Player in exchange for having keystrokes sent to the browser. In fact, as someone who has worked in software development for over 15 years it is hard to believe that Flash doesn't pass common browser shortcut keys to the browser or have an option to do so. So my question is this: Am I missing some option, some Flash shortcut key or some Firefox add-on that will alleviate my suffering?

  • Can I repair a short circuiting problem in a Dell Inspiron 6000 that occurs when it is picked up?

    I have a couple of Dell Inspiron 6000 notebooks that work perfectly fine unless you pick them up by one corner (as most people would). When you lift the notebook it flexes slightly and the notebook shorts out. Sometimes even a gentle bump will cause this to happen. So far the notebook always starts back up without issue, but this behavior is...inconvenient. It occurred to me that someone familiar with the innards might be able to suggest a little MacGyver fix for this. A little electrical tape in the right spot or something like that. Or perhaps this is a common problem and the answer is here, waiting for me to stumble on the correct keywords. I would appreciate any suggestions Note: It is probably worth mentioning that I have disassembled a Dell notebook before to replace a bluetooth card so I comfortable opening up the systems.

  • Windows 7 EFI Partition Deleted

    I converted my Windows 7 GPT disk to dynamic, which resulted in it being unable to boot. So I used EaseUs Partition Master on my second Win 7 installation to convert the disk back to basic. Now, I have one partition, which is my C: drive, and I can't figure out how to recovery my EFI partition. I no longer see the "Windows" entry in my EFI boot menu. The Windows 7 repair on the install DVD doesn't see my installation. Please let me know how to restore the EFI partition.

  • Surface (Pro) Soft Keyboard + Hardware Keyboard Issue

    When I got my Surface Pro 2, I loved it, and everything seemed to work flawlessly, until, wait for it, windows updates... The issue that I am having is the following, I primarily use the TC (TypeCover), as the Pro is an out-of-office laptop replacement for me, that I can still use to do whatever I need, but there are times when I will flip the cover, and use the system in tablet mode. The problem is that even when the TC is attached, any text field I click on, causes the OSK (on screen keyboard) to appear, as if I was running the system in tablet mode. As soon as I press a single button on the TC, the OSK is dismissed. When I first got the system, this was NOT the case, and it functioned as it should, where the OSK will only appear if the TC was not present. The biggest problem that I am having is the fact that the OSK causes the windows to be resized. Maximized windows will be shrunk, and stretched to their previous state, however a window that is not maximized will stay in its shrunken state, after the OSK has been dismissed. Below are pictures that show what is happening. Has anyone else experienced this issue? And is there any way to fix it? As you might imagine, having spent a pretty penny on a device like this, it it quite an annoying bug that needs fixing. I have been dealing with this issue for about 3 months now.

I see these days I can pick blade enclosures and servers up for relatively low cost and see the term blade and vm mentioned quite a lot. So my question - how would a blade setup work with wmware - is the whole enclosure seen as one big machine and yhr more blades you add the more computing power/resources you get in VMware - or are the just x number of seperate servers? The proxy server could not handle the request GET /. Reason: Error reading from remote server Could anybody share some insight on what I may be doing wrong and what the best possible solution would be to fix this? Thanks.

  • Prevent a program from creating files in a users home directory

    I run an engineering program for class, Quartus 2. The issue i am having is that every time i launch the program, it creates 10 bitmap files in my home directory. This is not so much of a problem, it just makes my OCD hurt :( I can delete them without affecting anything, but every time the program is launched it recreates them, and there is nothing in the program (that i have found) that stops these files from being created. Is there anything i can do to prevent this program, or any profram from creating files like this in my home folder?

  • word 2010 Macro to name and Save file when opened

    I have a word document template and will be using a hyper link in Excel to access the word file. The issue I need to resolve is making sure once it is opened a message field box is "popped" up asking the user to create a new file name ... (in this case the current date) for each time the file is opened. In the message pop when finished entering in file name they click yes and then the save screen comes up with the path/file type (macro enabled document) and the file name they have already entered in the pop up.. All they should have to do from the save screen is click ok and it saves the file to a certain path/folder on the C drive of the computer. Once they finish typing in their notes they click a active x button to save and close and they are finished. If anyone can help with this it would be fantastic.

  • XBMC remote control key repeat

    Those who have used XBMC with a WiFi remote, such as an Android or iOS device with the official XBMC remotes, have probably seen this at one time or another: your remote stops working, when you press a key, that key is repeated very fast. Sometimes you can break the key repeat loop by pressing that same key again. Sometimes (as this particular morning) you can not. This problem has existed for literally years (it even occurs on the old XBOX only builds) but there seems to be no definite explanation as to what is causing it. I am asking for a workaround. (If you Google, you can find threads were people are ridiculed for bringing up this problem, which is one reason I ask here instead of on the official forums. Also the fact that this problem has persisted for so many years.) I am running, right now, XBMCBuntu Live Eden and the latest official iOS remote. Although, I have seen this problem on all combinations of remotes and XBMC versions I have tried over the years, which are many. (XBMC on Windows, Linux, OSX, remotes on Android and iOS.) Link to bug #136 for the Android remote. It's marked as "fixed" as of client version 636, but the problem is seen again in rev 730. Go figure. There is something fundamentally wrong with how keypresses are sent from the various remotes to XBMC, since this problem is seen across time, XBMC versions and iOS/Android.
