But for multiple users, log file cannot be read easily.   • Can I use a filehandle instead of a filename for creating DBM files?

    I'm using MLDBM to persist some Perl data structures and I'm wondering if there's an alternative to the following: tie %hash, "MLDBM", $dbm_file, O_CREAT | O_RDWR, 0644; Primarily, I'd like to be able to use STDOUT, rather than a known file name. This could then be redirected to a file on the shell-side. I've been searching with keywords like "tie", "DBM" and "filehandle", but the hits tend to talk about tying filehandles to things, as opposed to things to filehandles. Any suggestions?

  • How do you search the text of changelist descriptions in Perforce?

    On occasion, I find myself wanting to search the text of changelist descriptions in Perforce. There doesn't appear to be a way to do this in P4V. I can do it by redirecting the output of the changes command to a file... p4 changes -l > p4changes.txt ...(the -l switch tells it to dump the full text of the changelist descriptions) and then searching the file, but this is rather cumbersome. Has anyone found a better way?

    I've gone through ODBC API searching for a function that can extract information of a data source. The closest I found is SQLDataSources that enumerates all data sources and gives you the DSN name/description. But specifically I would to extract the TNS service name of an Oracle data source. This property appears in the registry under ServerName but I found no way to access it through an API.

I was using Jquery Numeric plugin but i found that is not working (does not allow pasting) on FireFox 3.6 on Osx. I'm searching a Jquery plugin or Javascript snippet that allow just Numeric Text on a Input Text field.     Objects oriented databases seem like a really cool idea to me, no need to worry about mapping your domain model to your database model, no messing around with sql or ORM tools. The way I understand it, relational DBs offer some advantages when there is massive amounts of data, and searching an indexing need to be done. To my mind 99% of websites are not massive, and enterprise issues never need to be thought about, so why arn't OO DBs more widely used?

I'd like to know how well my app runs, like how much memory it uses. I just don't know where to find something like: "As close as we can tell from the simulator you'll app will currently be using xx MBs of RAM on a real iphone device."     Yes, I know, most of you are thinking I'm an idiot, butt (kidding) I'm not. I've been searching everywhere for something on how to fully make a navigation-based iphone app, but all I've found is how to set up table views or navigation controllers. I haven't found anything on how to create a data model (something simple from arrays and dictionaries, SQLite and CoreData are a bit out of my scope) or navigate it.
