• Using which technique does facebook and pininterest show images?

  If anybody has ever noticed that when you open a image in Facebook something like this happens:- suppose you are at your homepage on Facebook:- the URL is https://www.facebook.com/ now if you open a image it gets opened in new modal like window and URL changes to:- https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151125374887397&set=a.338008237396.161268.36922302396&type=1&theater As far as I know in any common case a modal overlay would have kept the url in the address bar the same , My question is how does facebook / pintrest achieve this behaviour of not re-loading the whole page but still achieving the change in the address bar. Is there any jquery or javascript plugin for this?

• Google webmaster tools / Geographic location settings

  I am building an website. It has an .nl domain. Now only my domain is showing up on google.nl I hope I can change this somehow that it could be findable in all google's (like google.com / co.uk) and so on. If I look on google forums. They say go to webmaster tools and change your geographic position over there. But I have added this site and I am not able to change it there because there is no select box. I dont have any idea were to search (yes I searched on google offcourse) or where to ask for this special problem. So maybe here can someone redirect me or explain me what is possible and what not. • cPanel SSL installation

  I've tried transferring SSL issued by GoDaddy to Linux based server. The website was originally hosted in Windows. After the installation is completed, I got a message like this in cPanel: Certificate ID: *********** Domains: xxxxsomethingxxxxx.com Issuer: GoDaddy.com, Inc. Key Size: 2,048 bits Expiration: Feb 10, 2015 10:05:10 PM Does that look fine? Does the Issuer still remain as GoDaddy? Now how do I test to see if this is in fact working? After installing the SSL in the Linux server, do I now need to do something in GoDaddy or in the previous Windows server to indicate that the SSL has now been transferred to the new server?

• XNA Diffuse Shader Issue. Edge lighting problem. Image Attached

  As you can see in this image the diffuse shading is working correctly in some places but in other places such as the the bottom of the sphere you can see the squares/triangles of the mesh. Any idea what would be causing this? Let me know if you need anymore information related to code. I can upload my normals calculations and shader effect if required.   We have a main site that Google analytics is currently running fine on (www.ourcompany.com). We have a page that is technically part of the site (same design, etc.) but is hosted on another server/domain for various business reasons (www.ourparentcompany.com/ourcompanyapp/). Do we just add the normal google analytics code to the bottom of that page? Or is there something more we have to do? If there isn't anything more then couldn't anyone just take your GA code and start reporting analytics to your profile from their site?

• How do I use apt-get to update to the latest kernel?

  My current kernel is 3.2.0-26 (my main computer) while on another of my Ubuntu computers, with which I didn't fiddle with unofficial updates, it's 3.2.0-30. Yet the Update manager on my main computer doesn't show available kernel updates. It shows other updates though. I suspect is due to the fact that in the past I installed multiple mainline kernel versions (not recommended versions), up to 3.5* series. What I'm after: Either: Fix automatic kernel updates. Or: Learn about a way to check for the latest official ubuntu kernel version and get it manually (I know how to install kernels from debs) What I have already tried: Uninstalled unused kernels including "the generic one without a number" as per http://askubuntu.com/a/103875/29347 and then also https://ubuntugenius.wordpress.com/2011/01/08/ubuntu-cleanup-how-to-remove-all-unused-linux-kernel-headers-images-and-modules/

  On Lenovo laptops, in order to use F5 you need to press Fn-F5 (same with F1-F12). It's really annoying and I'd like to reverse the situation. • Jquery website is not opening in UBUNTU but in XP, Everything is fine

  I know it is weird, But I just discovered this, jquery.com is not opening in my ubuntu firefox or other KDE browser and hence many sites that copy codes from code.jquery.com also hanged. Is there any solution to this problem. I have found the problem It is actually with the DNS servers I am using, Google DNS, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, whenever I use these DNS in ubuntu my system stop responding to some sites, actually they are connected nicely, but the request end up in waiting.. I dont understand why...??? I checked my DNS with cat /etc/resolv.conf Even after using Google DNS, it is showing DNS servers I received automatically after connecting to the service provider. I am connecting using Network Manager, not using DNS I provided but using the default one. Any Solution??

  Interesting find today...   I was perusing the event log on our web server today for any unexpected ASP.NET exceptions/errors. Found the following:   Exception information: Exception type: HttpException Exception message: Path '/builder/builder.sitemap' is forbidden. Request information: Request URL: https://www.bondwave.com:443/builder/builder.sitemap Request path: /builder/builder.sitemap User host address: 66.249.71.247 User: Is authenticated: False Authentication Type: Thread account name: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE   At first I thought this was maybe an attempt by a hacker to mess with the sitemap. Using a handy web site (www.network-tools.com) I did a lookup on the IP address and found it was a Google bot trying to crawl the application. In this case, I would expect an exception or 403 since the site requires authentication anyway.
