• Shaping EF LINQ Query Results Using Multi-Table Includes

  I have a simple LINQ EF query below using the method syntax. I'm using my Include statement to join four tables: Event and Doc are the two main tables, EventDoc is a many-to-many link table, and DocUsage is a lookup table. My challenge is that I'd like to shape my results by only selecting specific columns from each of the four tables. But, the compiler is giving a compiler is giving me the following error: 'System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.EntityCollection does not contain a definition for "Doc' and no extension method 'Doc' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.EntityCollection' could be found. I'm sure this is something easy but I'm not figuring it out. I haven't been able to find an example of someone using the multi-table include but also shaping the projection. • Paperclip: Stay put on edit

  When a user edits something in my application, they're forced to re-upload their image via paperclip even if they aren't changing it. Failing to do so will cause an error, since I validate_presence_of :image. This is quite annoying. How can I make it so Paperclip won't update its attributes if a user simply doesn't supply a new image on an edit? The photo controller is fresh out of Rails' scaffold generator. • how can you have the same form handle by javascript multiple times on the same page?

  I have a thumb gallery where I am using ajax/javascript to submit a form per image to report the image as broken seamlessly along with php. The form and script is templated so the script is in the header and then the form is printed multiple times on the same page with a hidden field with a different id for the value per thumb. So basically this is what i have. javascript in header just a quick idea of the forms i have. Just a quick idea not what I actually have. image1 followed by the form image2 followed by the form So when you hit the button it basically submits all of the forms at the same time. I am sure it can be fixed with a (this) or something like that so it only submits a single form at a time.   I have a series of functions with the same prototype, say int func1(int a, int b) { // ... } int func2(int a, int b) { // ... } // ... Now, I want to simplify their definition and declaration. Of course I could use a macro like that: #define SP_FUNC(name) int name(int a, int b) But I'd like to keep it in C, so I tried to use the storage specifier typedef for this: typedef int SpFunc(int a, int b); This seems to work fine for the declaration: SpFunc func1; // compiles but not for the definition: SpFunc func1 { // ... } which gives me the following error: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '{' token Is there a way to do this correctly or is it impossible? To my understanding of C this should work, but it doesn't. Why? Note, gcc understands what I am trying to do, because, if I write SpFunc func1 = { /* ... */ } it tells me error: function 'func1' is initialized like a variable Which means that gcc understands that SpFunc is a function type.

• Repeated host lookups failing in urllib2

  I have code which issues many HTTP GET requests using Python's urllib2, in several threads, writing the responses into files (one per thread). During execution, it looks like many of the host lookups fail (causing a name or service unknown error, see appended error log for an example). Is this due to a flaky DNS service? Is it bad practice to rely on DNS caching, if the host name isn't changing? I.e. should a single lookup's result be passed into the urlopen?   I have a strange error. I'm experimenting with a .NET 4.5 Web API, Entity Framework and MS SQL Server. I've already created the database and set up the correct primary and foreign keys and relationships. I've created a .edmx model and imported two tables: Employee and Department. A department can have many employees and this relationship exists. I created a new controller called EmployeeController using the scaffolding options to create an API controller with read/write actions using Entity Framework. In the wizard, selected Employee as the model and the correct entity for the data context. The method that is created looks like this: // GET api/Employee public IEnumerable<Employee> GetEmployees() { var employees = db.Employees.Include(e => e.Department); return employees.AsEnumerable(); } When I call my API via /api/Employee, I get this error: ...The 'ObjectContent`1' type failed to serialize the response body for content type 'application/json; ...System.InvalidOperationException","StackTrace":null,"InnerException":{"Message":"An error has occurred.","ExceptionMessage":"Self referencing loop detected with type 'System.Data.Entity.DynamicProxies.Employee_5D80AD978BC68A1D8BD675852F94E8B550F4CB150ADB8649E8998B7F95422552'.   I use a GridView to display the records from the database. Also i've attached a Hyperlink to the GridView using TemplateField. When I try to add "onclick" attribute to the HyperLink inside the RowDateBound event, I get the following error.. • Extremely Difficult Problem with ASP.Net 4.0 WebForms app using Routing

  I have a completed app running in a QA environment. Everything works fine under most circumstances. If you hit a plain URL (no identifying information in the URL), you see an intro page with a button (generated by an asp LinkButton control) that posts back and directs you to another page. The markup looks the same when it fails and when it doesn't. When such a URL is followed from, e.g., Word and the default browser is IE, the intro page loads fine, but clicking the button causes an error. When not debugging, this behavior occurs every time. While debugging, the error occurs only ~ 1 in 10 times (closing the browser instance and starting over every time). When the error occurs, the intro page Page_Load fires and IsPostBack is false. Somehow, instead of a post, a get is being issued. When I run fiddler to try to analyze the actual calls (can't use firebug because it never happens using Firefox), everything works every time. I don't know whether this issue has anything to do with routing, and I've no idea even what to look at next. The strange thing is, when I debug, the intro page doesn't fully load every time. Only about 1 in 3 times does it fully load even if I've just cleared browser cache. When I run it through fiddler, it fully loads and works fine every time.

• Yeoman 'grunt test' fails on clean project with 'port already in use'

  With: Mac OS 10.8.4 Node 0.10.12 npm 1.3.1 grunt-cli 0.1.9 yo 1.0.0-rc.1 bower 0.9.2 [email protected] I encounter the following error with a clean yo angular project, followed by grunt server then grunt test: Running "connect:test" (connect) task Fatal error: Port 9000 is already in use by another process. I'm new to Yeoman and am stumped. I've deleted my original project and created a new one in a fresh folder just to make sure I wasn't overlooking any invisible configs. I restarted the machine to make sure I wasn't running any temporary server processes I had forgotten about. After all attempts, the basic server starts fine, attaches to Chrome, and the watcher updates the browser on any changes. (Notably, the server is running on 9000, which seems odd for the test-runner to also be trying to use 9000.) But I get that same error on attempting to start the test runner. Is this something I can fix, or an issue I should report to the Yeoman team? Thanks.

• XAMPP, MAMP, MySQL, PDO - A deadly combination?

  Hey folks, Previously I've worked on a Symfony project (MySQL PDO based) with XAMPP, with no problems. Since then, I've moved to MAMP - I prefer this - but have hit a snag with my database connection. "<br/>"; die(); } ?> Obviously the *xxx*s are real db connection details. Which when served by MAMP seems to work fine. From terminal however I keep getting the following error when running the file: Error!: SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'xxx'@'localhost' (using password: YES) Not sure if the terminal is aiming at a different MySQL socket or something along those lines; but I've tried pointing it to the MAMP socket with a local php.ini file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Replacing text with apostrophe text via sed in applescript

  I have an applescript to find and replace a number of strings. I ran in the problem of having a replacement string which contained & some time ago, but could get around it by putting \& in the replacement property list. However an apostrophe seems to be far more annoying. Using a single apostrophe just gets ignored (replacement doesn't contain it), using \' gives a syntax error (Expected “"” but found unknown token.) and using \' gets ignored again. (You can keep doing that btw, even number gets ignored uneven gets syntax error) I tried replacing the apostrophe in the actual sed command with double quotes (sed "s…" instead of sed 's…'), which works in the command line, but gives a syntax error in the script (Expected end of line, etc. but found identifier.) The single quotes mess with the shell, the double quotes with applescript. I also tried '\'' as was suggested here and '"'"' from here. Basic script to get the type of errors: set findList to "Thats.nice" set replaceList to "That's nice" set fileName to "Thats.nice.whatever" set resultFile to do shell script "echo " & fileName & " | sed 's/" & findList & "/" & replaceList & " /'"

• PHP, MySQL: Security concern; Page loads in a weird way

  Hi all, I am testing the security of my website. I am using the following URL to load a PHP page in my website, on localhost: http://localhost/domain/user/index.php/apple.php When I do this, the page is not loading normally; Instead the images, icons used in the page simply vanish/disappear from the page. Only text appears. And also on any link I click on this page, it brings me to this same page again without navigating to the required page. So if I have hyperlinks to other pages, such as "SEARCH", which points to search.php, instead of navigating to the search.php page, it refreshes the index.php page and just appends the page name of the destination page to the end of the URL. For example, say I used the link above. It then loads the index.php page minus the images at it's will. When I click on the "Search" link to navigate to the search page, I see the following in the URL: http://localhost/domain/user/index.php/search.php I have a redirection configured to a 404 error page in my .htaccess file, but the page does not redirect to the 404 error page. Notice the search.php towards the end of the URL above. Any other link that I click, reloads the index.php page and just appends the destination page name to the end of the URL like I have shown above. I was expecting to see a 404 Error but that does not happen. The URL should not even be able to load the page because I do NOT have a "index.php" folder in my website. What can I do to solve this?   Lets say I have two classes, animal and dog like this. class Animal { }; class Dog : public Animal { }; And I have an animal object named animal, that is actually an instance of dog, how would I cast it back to dog? This may seem like an odd question, but I need it because I am writing a programming language interpreter, and on the stack everything is stored as a BaseObject, and all the other datatypes extend BaseObject. How would I cast the base object from the stack, to a specific data type? • Cannot redeclare class on a copy of a site

  I've developed a small SMS utility for a customer in PHP. The details are of non-importance. This project is hosted in: http://project.example.com/customer1 Now a second customer requests almost the same functionality, one cheap way of providing this is to copy the project from the first customer and modify it slightly. So i made a direct copy of the project for customer1 to another folder for customer 2. This project is hosted in: http://project.example.com/customer2 Now when i try and run the project for customer2 (calling a single page), i get the error message: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class SmsService in /var/www/html/project/customer1/application/service.class.php on line 3 Here, service.class.php is a simple interface with 3 methods: interface SmsService { public function SendSms($mobile, $customerId, $customerName, $message); public function QueryIncomingResponse(); public function CleanExpiredConfirmations($maxConfirmationDays); } printing the backtrace in service.class.php reveals something interresting: #0 require_once() called at [/var/www/html/project/customer2/endpoint/queryIncomingResponse.php:2] Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class SmsService in /var/www/html/project/customer1/application/service.class.php on line 3 Line 2 in queryIncomingResponses is the very first require line there is. Line 3 in service.class.php is the first statement there is in the file (Line 2 is an empty line and line 1 is the php file opening tag). Naturally, I only work with relative requires (double checked this) so there is no way one include/require from customer2 actually refers to a file for customer1. It seems to me that in some way SmsService and other classes gets cached by PHP. (I have little control over the server environment). One solution to this would be namespaces. Unfortunatly, we work with PHP 5.1.7 where namespaces are not a part of the language feature just yet. Another way would be to mimic namespaces by prefixing all classes but this approach just feels dirty. Does anyone have more information on this problem and possibly solutions? • Why can’t PHP script write a file on server 2008 via command line or task scheduler?

It runs well when I use a browser. It writes an XML file in the same directory. The script takes ~60 seconds to run, and the resulting XML file is ~16 MB. I am running PHP 5.2.13 via FastCGI on Windows Server Web edition SP1 64 bit. The code pulls inventory from SQL server, runs a loop to build an XML file for a third party. I created a task in task scheduler to run c:\php5\php.exe "D:\inetpub\tools\build.php" The task scheduler shows a time lapse of about a minute, which is how long the script takes to run in a browser. No error returned, but no file created. Each time I make a change to the scheduled task properties, a user password box comes up and I enter the administrator account password. If I run this same path and argument at a command line it does not error and does not create the file. When I right click run command prompt as an administrator, the file is still not created. I get my echo statement "file published" that is after the file creation and no error is returned. I am doing a simple fopen fwrite fclose to save the contents of a php variable to a .xml file, and the file only gets created when the script is run through the browser.   Ok, so this week in class we're working with arrays. I've got an assignment that wanted me to create a structure for an employee containing an employee ID, first name, last name, and wages. Then it has me ask users for input for 5 different employees all stored in an array of this structure, then ask them for a search field type, then a search value. Is there a way to compare two .name notated strings without totally revamping the program? • VB6 ActiveX exe - what is the proper registration sequence?

  I have recently updated a Visual Basic 6 application that is an ActiveX exe, running on Windows XP. I have a couple of testers for this application who have received a copy of the exe and are attempting to run it. However, they are getting an error message "Unexpected error;quitting" when trying to do so. A key difference between their testing and my testing is that on the machines I tested on, I have admin rights and was able to register the application using the appname.exe /regserver command line. Reading the details at MS Support about file registration appears unclear: Visual Basic ActiveX EXE files register themselves the first time you run the EXE. However, you cannot use the EXE as a COM server until it is registered. So does this mean that after the first time the users run the exe that the application should be correctly registered, and the error I am receiving is sign of something other than an incorrectly registered application? Or does this mean that the application will not work properly until such time as the file is explicitly registered using the appname.exe /regserver command line? nb - during a production distribution, the software would be sent out to client PCs using Systems Management Server, which isn't an option for this testing.

  I'm trying to send some data to PHP using HTTPService POST but for some reason it's not working. URL: http://localhost:8888/api" But when I change the method in HTTPService to GET and in PHP I get the result as expected - PHP sends back the date: 2010-10-10 What am I doing wrong?

• Execute SSH commands on Cisco router. Codeigniter SSH library

  I have a little problem. I'm using Codeigniter with SSH library written by Shuky (https://bitbucket.org/quicktips/codeigniter-ssh2-library/src/a444968345ba/SSH.php -- You can see the code by following this link). Everything related with SSH works fine with other devices, but when I try to use this library and execute commands on Cisco devices, nothing happens (commands are not executed). I know that the connection is successful, but I can't execute any commands. I have already implemented the download using URLDownloadToFile function, but i want to create a PROGRESS_CLASS progress bar with marquee style while the file is being downloaded, but it doesn't seems to get animated in the process.
