  • Background-image toggle using jquery

    - by Jon
    Hi all, bit of a jquery rookie here trying to get something to work. Basically I have a div with a class "nav" and inside that div is a nav list. I want to change the background-image of "nav" when hovering over an item in the navlist, so I made this unsuccesful effort: enter code here $(function(){ $("li#hover-first").mouseover(function(){ $("div.nav").removeClass("nav").addClass("navbg"); .mouseout(function(){$("div.nav").removeClass("navbg").addClass("nav"); }); So the idea is, once the first li item is hovered over, the div with classname "nav" has it's class removed and has "navbg" added (which has the alternate background image). Obviously this isn't working, so any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

  • Python New-style Classes and the Super Function

    - by sfjedi
    This is not the result I expect to see: class A(dict): def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): self['args'] = args self['kwargs'] = kwargs class B(A): def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): super(B, self).__init__(args, kwargs) print 'Instance A:', A('monkey', banana=True) #Instance A: {'args': ('monkey',), 'kwargs': {'banana': True}} print 'Instance B:', B('monkey', banana=True) #Instance B: {'args': (('monkey',), {'banana': True}), 'kwargs': {}} I'm just trying to get classes A and B to have consistent values set. I'm not sure why the kwargs are being inserted into the args, but I'm to presume I am either calling init() wrong from the subclass or I'm trying to do something that you just can't do. Any tips?

  • JDO in Google App Engine: order of keys in unowned one-to-many relationship

    - by Kel
    I'm implementing web application with JDO in Google App Engine. According to documentation, in owned one-to-many relationships, order of elements in "owner" object collection is determined either by automatically created index field, or by information given in explicit ordering clause. For example: @PersistenceCapable public class Person { // ... @Order(extensions = @Extension(vendorName="datanucleus", key="list-ordering", value="country asc, city asc")) private List<ContactInfo> contacts = new List<ContactInfo>(); In unowned relationships, "owner" object contains collection of keys of "nested" objects, for example: @PersistenceCapable public class Author { // ... @Persistent private List<Key> books; Is order of keys preserved, if I use List<Key> collection in "owner" object for storing keys of "nested" elements? I could not find answer neither in JDO relationships article, nor in Data Classes article :(

  • Fedora installed in Legacy mode, how to make it work in UEFI?

    - by TryntaLearn
    I am trying to install a linux distribution on my new laptop. It's an MSI GE40 which comes preinstalled with windows 8. It's a UEFI machine. I have tried installing Ubuntu and Fedora with limited success. I've tried: running it in UEFI, UEFI with CSM mode, with secureboot enabled, ... with secureboot disabeled, ... with secureboot enabled but in user mode. I have had no success with any of these methods. With Ubuntu the grub loader shows up, but when I pick 'try ubuntu', or 'install ubuntu', it's just a blank screen(I've been using liveusb's btw). With Fedora, it'll show me the next screen on which it says 'binary authorised by vendor certificate' or 'Secure boot not enabled' and then stop doing anything. The closest thing to success I reached was switching to legacy mode to install Ubuntu, in which case I was able to get to the ubunutu installer but it wouldn't recognize windows 8 on my computer, so instead of continuing on I rebooted, and removed the USB pendrive to find my computer couldn't find windows 8. After a little dicking about I got it to find windows 8 again. Any ideas on how I should go about trying to install a distro on my computer? UPDATE:- So I ended up installing fedora using Legacy mode. To use both it and Windows at boot, I manually enter automatic repair so I can get to my UEFI settings and switch boot mode to UEFI to boot windows 8. I guess my question needs to be modified as to how do I get all of this to work in UEFI mode, so I can dual boot via selection through a bootloader, and not by repeatedly switching boot mode.

  • Storing a reference to an object in C#

    - by Jack
    I was wondering how one could store a reference to an object in .net. That is, I would like something like the following code (note, of course, that the following code may be way off from how to actually do it): class Test { private /*reference to*/ Object a; public Test(ref int a) { this.a = a; this.a = ((int)this.a) + 1; } public Object getA() { return this.a; } } /* * ... */ static void Main(string[] args) { int a; a=3; Test t = new Test(ref a); Console.WriteLine(a); Console.WriteLine(t.getA()); Console.ReadKey(); } To produce the following output: 4 4 Ideally, I would like to do this without writing a wrapper class around the integer. In other words, I think I want pointers in .Net.

  • Replicating Java's DecimalFormat in C#

    I am trying to replicate a subset of Java's DecimalFormat class. Below is what I've come up with. Does this look right to everyone? public class DecimalFormat : NumberFormat { int _maximumFractionDigits; int _minimumFractionDigits; string _format; void RebuildFormat () { _format = "{0:0."; _format += new string ('0', _minimumFractionDigits); if (_maximumFractionDigits > _minimumFractionDigits) { _format += new string ('#', _maximumFractionDigits - _minimumFractionDigits); } _format += "}"; } public override string format (object value) { return string.Format (_format, value); } public override void setMaximumFractionDigits (int n) { _maximumFractionDigits = n; RebuildFormat (); } public override void setMinimumFractionDigits (int n) { _minimumFractionDigits = n; RebuildFormat (); } public override void setGroupingUsed (bool g) { } public static NumberFormat getInstance () { return new DecimalFormat (); } }

  • problems with overloaded function members C++

    I have declared a class as class DCFrameListener : public FrameListener, public OIS::MouseListener, public OIS::KeyListener { bool keyPressed(const OIS::KeyEvent & kEvt); bool keyReleased(const OIS::KeyEvent &kEvt); //*******some code missing************************ }; But if i try defining the members like this bool DCFrameListener::keyPressed(const OIS::KeyEvent kEvt) { return true; } The compiler refuses with this error error C2511: 'bool DCFrameListener::keyPressed(const OIS::KeyEvent)' : overloaded member function not found in 'DCFrameListener' see declaration of 'DCFrameListener' Why is this happening, yet i declared the member keyPressed(const OIS::KeyEvent) in my function declaration. any help will be appreciated. • Redundant code in exception handling

    - by Nicola Leoni
    Hi, I've a recurrent problem, I don't find an elegant solution to avoid the resource cleaning code duplication: resource allocation: try { f() } catch (...) { resource cleaning code; throw; } resource cleaning code; return rc; So, I know I can do a temporary class with cleaning up destructor, but I don't really like it because it breaks the code flow and I need to give the class the reference to the all stack vars to cleanup, the same problem with a function, and I don't figure out how does not exists an elegant solution to this recurring problem.

  • How to persist non-trivial fields in Play Framework

    - by AlexR
    I am trying to persist complex objects using Ebeans in Play Framework (2.03). In particular, I've created a class that contains a field of type weka.classifier.Classifier (Weka is a popular machine learning library - see http://weka.sourceforge.net/doc/weka/classifiers/Classifier.html). Classifier implements Serializeable so I hoped that I can get away with something like @Entity @Table(name = "classifiers") public class ClassifierData extends Model { @Id public Long id; public Classifier classifier; } However, the Evolutions script suggests the following database structure: create table classifiers ( id bigint auto_increment not null, constraint pk_classifiers primary key (id)) ) In other words, it ignores the field of type Classifier. (The database is MySQL if it makes any difference) What should I do to store complex serializeable objects using Ebean/Evolutions/PlayFramework?

  • Flexslider position of previous and next slides

    - by TJ15
    I am using the basic flexslider, I wantto display some of the previous and next , so if slide 2 is showing you will see part of slide 1 to the left and part of slide 3 to the right. <!DOCTYPE html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="flexslider.css" type="text/css"> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <style> .container {overflow: hidden; width: 100%} .flexslider {max-width: 500px; width: 500px; margin: 0 auto} .content {background: #f2f2f2; max-width: 500px; display: block; margin: 0 auto} .flex-viewport {overflow: visible !important} </style> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <div class="container"> <div class="flexslider"> <ul class="slides"> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> </ul> </div> </div> <script src="jquery.flexslider.js"></script> <script> jQuery(document).ready(function($) { // You can use the locally-scoped $ in here as an alias to jQuery. $(window).load(function() { $('.flexslider').flexslider(); }); }); </script> </body> </html> I have reduced the image to 70% and positioned it in the middle of the page. I want to have the next and previous slides visible on either side of the main pic but no idea where to make the appropriate changes (I assume in the js file). I thought this was a margin issue but setting this to 0 in styles makes no difference. Has anyone done this and can provide some advice?

  • Recognition source of event in PyQT

    - by xTrol
    Hi, I`m starting with PyQt4 and right now I have a problem with events. I have one main class let say MainWindow. MainWindow has a list of buttons of type ButtonX (inherence form QPushButton). I would like to achieve one of 2 solutions (depends which is easier). 1) After click one of the button from the list I would like to run a one method of MainWindow. I would like to be able to read a source of event there (recognize clicked button) 2) Second solution is to run a method defined in ButtonX class. What I tried is: QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0).buttonMethod()) QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SLOT("incrementValue()")) and even this line occure suspend Python interpreter QtCore.QObject.connect(self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SIGNAL("clicked()"), self.getButton(0, 0), QtCore.SLOT("incrementValue"))

  • Mac OS X in Virtualbox says "You need to restart your computer"

    - by humoeba
    I've been trying to figure out for the past week how to get Snow Leopard reliably running in a VM. Right now I am using VirtualBox, and it runs fine for a while, but every once in a while (happened 3 times in the last few hours) I get the "You need to restart your computer" message. Unfortunately, it hasn't even lasted long enough to finish installing the operating system yet. I first tried VMWare, which was a pain to set up. I got it running ok, operating system installed, with the guest tools. Every once in a while though, it just stops running. I click inside the VM, and there's no mouse. It doesn't respond to keyboard input either. I have to reset the VM to get a response. I'm wondering if this is the same error. This happens with both Workstation and Player. Here is the tutorial I used for VirtualBox: http://www.sysprobs.com/iboot-loader-virtualbox-install-snow-leopard Here's the tutorial I used for VMWare: http://bobhood.wordpress.com/2009/12/18/welcome-to-snow-leopard-mac-os-x-10-6-and-vmware-workstation-7/ I'm using an iso for Mac OS X 10.6.3. I have an HP Pavilion dm4 with an Intel Core i7 M640 running Windows 7; VT is turned on. Using VirtualBox 4.0.4 and VMWare Workstation 7.0.1 and VMWare Player 3.0.1 Does anyone know what might be causing this error or how I can fix it? Thanks.

  • Reference to a pointer question

    - by Yogesh Arora
    Please refer to the code below. In this code i am storing the const char* returned by test.c_str() into a reference. My question is Will the data be correctly refering to the contents of test. I am thinking that ptr returned by test.c_str() will be a temporary and if i bound it to a reference that reference will not be valid. Is my thinking correct class RefPtrTest { std::string test; StoringClass storingClass; public: RefPtrTest(): test("hello"), storingClass(test.c_str()) { } } where StoringClass is class StoringClass { const char*& data; public: StoringClass (const char*& input): data(input) { } }

  • Is linking a <div> using javascript acceptable?

    - by jhchawk
    I want to link an entire <div>, but CSS2 does not support adding an href to a div (or span for that matter). My solution is to use the onClick property to add a link. Is this acceptable for modern browsers? Example code: <div class="frommage_box" id="about_frommage" onclick="location.href='#';"> <div class="frommage_textbox" id="ft_1"><p>who is Hawk Design?</p></div> My test page is at http://www.designbyhawk.com/pixel. Updated daily. Thanks for the help.

  • Ajax foreign key filter in Django admin interface

    - by Googol
    http://blog.philippmetzler.com/?p=52 Just tried django-ajax-filtered-fields and like it very much. I’m looking for a solution for this problem: My model looks like this: class Song(models.Model): Album = models.ForeignKey(Album) class Artist(models.Model): album = models.ForeignKey(Album) song = models.ForeignKey(Song, blank=True, null=True) So the user has to define a topic. He can also define a subtopic but doesn’t have to. The subtopic belongs to a topic. In the admin interface I’d like to limit the choices for subtopic based upon what he selects in topics. That should change dynamically with AJAX. I will have a closer look to django-ajax-filtered-fields but didn’t find a solution to that specific problem. Perhaps it’s another usecase for django-ajax-filtered-fields in general? Or do you know another solution to my specific requirements?

  • How to get Firefox to not continue to show "Transferring data from..." in browser status bar after a

    - by Edward Tanguay
    The following silverlight demo loads and displays a text file from a server. However, in Firefox (but not Explorer or Chrome) after you click the button and the text displays, the status bar continues to show "Transferring data from test.development..." which erroneously gives the user the belief that something is still loading. I've noticed that if you click on another Firefox tab and then back on the original one, the message goes away, so it seems to be just a Firefox bug that doesn't clear the status bar automatically. Is there a way to clear the status bar automatically in Firefox? or a way to explicitly tell it that the async loading is finished so it can clear the status bar itself? • Initialize a static member ( an array) in C++

    - by Jimmy zhang
    I intended to create a class which only have static members and static functions. One of the member variable is an array. Would it be possible to initialize it without using constructors? I am having lots of linking errors right now... Class A{ public: static char a[128]; static void do_something(); } How would you initialize a[128]? Why can't I initialize a[128] by directly specifying its value like in C? a[128={1,2,3,...};

    I'm trying to build my first cocoa application. done some iPhone developing before. I have a hard time understanding how to layout my project. i making a Pong game and my current design is to allocate an NSWindowController from my appDelegate. I then use custom view to act as paddles and ball. My problem is that i can't get the window controller to capture key events. Am i thinking wrong here? My idea is to have a controller class with all the logic, should i subclass another class for that?

Have no problems at all. So the issue in these lines or in Ability.rb. Any suggestions?

  • Websphere exception handling

    - by Benjamin
    Hi all, From a security standpoint, what is the best solution to handle application errors with Websphere? I've been thinking of creating a class that is called every time an application error is generated, log the error and display a generic error message to the users. In PHP this can be achieved using the set_exception_handler() function. Is there something similar for websphere that could be configured in the web.xml? I've found codes like this on the internet: <error-page> <error-code>500</error-code> <location>/servlet/ExceptionHandlerServlet</location> </error-page> But that would only work with "500" HTTP error codes. I really want something generic that catches everything. Something like a class that implements a certain interface which can have access to all information about the error. Thanks for your time.

  • Should I use implicit conversions to enforce preconditions?

    - by Malvolio
    It occurs to me that I could use use implicit conversions to both announce and enforce preconditions. Consider this: object NonNegativeDouble { implicit def int2nnd(d : Double) : NonNegativeDouble = new NonNegativeDouble(d) implicit def nnd2int(d : NonNegativeDouble) : Double = d.v def sqrt(n : NonNegativeDouble) : NonNegativeDouble = scala.math.sqrt(n) } class NonNegativeDouble(val v : Double ) { if (v < 0) { throw new IllegalArgumentException("negative value") } } object Test { def t1 = { val d : Double = NonNegativeDouble.sqrt(3.0); printf("%f\n", d); val n : Double = NonNegativeDouble.sqrt(-3.0); } } Ignore for the moment the actual vacuity of the example: my point is, the subclass NonNegativeDouble expresses the notion that a function only takes a subset of the entire range of the class's values. First is this: A good idea, a bad idea, or an obvious idea everybody else already knows about Second, this would be most useful with basic types, like Int and String. Those classes are final, of course, so is there a good way to not only use the restricted type in functions (that's what the second implicit is for) but also delegate to all methods on the underlying value (short of hand-implementing every delegation)?
