  • Using CreateWindow() to make additional Window on a thread - C

    - by Jamie Keeling
Hello, I have a windows form that has a simple menu and performs a simple operation, I want to be able to create another windows form with all the functionality of a menu bar, message pump etc.. as a separate thread so I can then share the results of the operation to the second window. I.E. 1) Form A opens Form B opens as a separate thread 2)Form A performs operation 3)Form A passes results via memory to Form B 4)Form B display results I'm confused as to how to go about it, the main app runs fine but i'm not sure how to add a second window if the first one already exists. I think that using CreateWindow will allow me to make another window but again i'm not sure how to access the message pump so I can respond to certain events like WM_CREATE on the second window. I hope it makes sense. Thanks!

  • Codeigniter form action with slashes instead of normal GETs?

    - by Ethan
Hey, so this is one of those questions that seems obvious, and I'm probably going to feel stupid, but here goes: I'm doing a CodeIgniter site with a search. Think of a Google type input, where you'd search for "white huskies." I have a search results page that takes a URI (MySite.com/dogs/white huskies), and takes the third part, and performs the search on that term. I'd like this to be done in the URI, and no by POST so my users can bookmark results. The problem I'm having is how to get that search button directed to Mysite.com/dogs/WHATEVER IS IN THE INPUT. How do I get the what is in the input part into the anchor href? I know I could do this with javascript, but I've heard it's bad practice to force people to have javascript for things this small. Thanks for the help!

  • Accepting bank account information in a form

    - by jeffthink
What security concerns are there when accepting a user's bank account information (account number and routing number) via a form on a page that is using SSL, and posting it back to the server where I then curl off a HTTPS request to send that information to an ACH service like First ACH or ACH Direct via their API? We wouldn't be saving the bank account information in our database. I know another option is to use Paypal's Mass Pay API, but they think it's unprofessional (at least for their business) to require customers to have a paypal account to get paid. Thoughts?

  • Contact form problem - I do receive messages, but no contents (blank page).

    - by nitbuntu
    I have a contact form on site which used to work, but since last few months has stopped working properly. This could have been due to some coding error that I can't figure out. What happens is that I receive the messages sent, but they are completely blank, with no contents at all. What could be the problems? I'm attaching first the front-end page, and then the back-end. Sample of contact.php the front-end code:- <div id="content"> <h2 class="newitemsxl">Contact Us</h2> <div id="contactcontent"> <form method="post" action="contactus.php"> Name:<br /> <input type="text" name="Name" /><br /> Email:<br /> <input type="text" name="replyemail" /><br /> Your message:<br /> <textarea name="comments" cols="40" rows="4"></textarea><br /><br /> <?php require("ClassMathGuard.php"); MathGuard::insertQuestion(); ?><br /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Send" /> * Refresh browser for a different question. :-) </form> </div> </div> Sample of contactus.php (backend code):- <?php /* first we need to require our MathGuard class */ require ("ClassMathGuard.php"); /* this condition checks the user input. Don't change the condition, just the body within the curly braces */ if (MathGuard :: checkResult($_REQUEST['mathguard_answer'], $_REQUEST['mathguard_code'])) { $mailto="[email protected]"; $pcount=0; $gcount=0; $subject = "A Stylish Goods Enquiry"; $from="[email protected]"; echo ("Great, you're message has been sent !"); //insert your code that will be executed when user enters the correct answer } else { echo ("Sorry, wrong answer, please go back and try again !"); //insert your code which tells the user he is spamming your website } while (list($key,$val)=each($HTTP_POST_VARS)) { $pstr = $pstr."$key : $val \n "; ++$pcount; } while (list($key,$val)=each($HTTP_GET_VARS)) { $gstr = $gstr."$key : $val \n "; ++$gcount; } if ($pcount > $gcount) { $comments=$pstr; mail($mailto,$subject,$comments,"From:".$from); } else { $comments=$gstr; mail($mailto,$subject,$comments,"From:".$from); } ?>

  • Rails - Help scoring an online quiz in RoR

    - by ChrisWesAllen
I'm trying to grade a quiz application I would like to make. I have a questions model with and ask(the actual question), 4 choices(a-d), and a correct answer(string). In the view I have the 4 question being diplayed then the correct answer choice (This is just a test for functionality) and then I created a text_field to accept the users answer choice and a button to refresh the index action which has the scoring logic, for now.. --Do I need to put the text_field within a form_tag? <p>1. <%= h @question.q1 %></p> <p>2. <%= h @question.q2 %></p> <p>3. <%= h @question.q3 %></p> <p>4. <%= h @question.q4 %></p> <p>Answer: <%= h @question.correct %></p> <%= text_field_tag :choice, params[:choice] %> <%= button_to "Grade", {:controller => 'site', :action => "index"} %> <p> <%= @answer %></p> Heres the index controller action def index @question = Question.find(1) if @question.correct == params[:choice] @answer = 'right' else @answer = 'wrong' end end Its not really working. The textfield is supposed to take a letter choice like 'a' or 'c' and compare it with the correct answer in the database. I would love this to work by radiobuttons, but I'm a newbie to rails so I thought I'd take baby steps. So if anyone can help me with how to fix this by string, or preferably by radiobuttons, I'd really appreciate it.

  • My form submit button is not showing correctly

    - by JackR
    I have created an form that submits the contents to email. I have used the exact same coding in many other websites, but for my new website http://www.peterevansfuneraldirectors.co.uk/contact-us.html the submit button is just a grey square with text, rather than the usual button. Also the hand doesn't come up on hover. My form code is... <form action="php/FormToEmail.php" method="post" name="ContactForm" id="ContactForm" onsubmit="MM_validateForm('name','','R','email','','RisEmail','message subject','','R','message','','R');return document.MM_returnValue" > <div class="form-text"> <b>Name<span class="purple">*</span></b><br /> <input name="name" type="text" id="name" size="35" style="height:23px; background-color:#FFF; color:#000; border: 1px solid #CCC;" /> </div><br /> <div class="form-text"> <b>Email<span class="purple">*</span></b><br /> <input name="email" type="text" id="email" size="35" style="height:23px; background-color:#FFF; color:#000; border: 1px solid #CCC;" /> </div><br /> <div class="form-text"> <b>Message Subject<span class="purple">*</span></b><br /> <input name="message subject" type="text" id="message subject" size="35" style="height:23px; background-color:#FFF; color:#000; border: 1px solid #CCC;" /> </div><br /> <div class="form-text"> <b>Message<span class="purple">*</span></b><br /> <textarea name="message" type="text" id="message" rows="8" cols="55" style="background-color:#FFF; color:#000; border: 1px solid #CCC;" ></textarea> </div><br /> <div class="submit-button"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /> </div> </form> Thanks in advance! • Using hash to check if page with $_POST values was refreshed

    - by Dieseltime
When posting a form to the same PHP page, what is the correct method to find if the page was accidentally refreshed instead of submitted again? Here's what I'm using right now: $tmp = implode('',$_POST); $myHash = md5($tmp); if(isset($_SESSION["myHash"]) && $_SESSION["myHash"] == $myHash) { header("Location: index.php"); // page refreshed, send user somewhere else die(); } else { $_SESSION["myHash"] = $myHash; } // continue processing... Is there anything wrong with this solution?

  • Nested Select in Rails

    - by James
I am working on a Rails application which uses categories for items. My category model is self-joined so that categories can be nested: class Category < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :items # Self Join (categories can have subcategories) has_many :subcategories, :class_name => "Category", :foreign_key => "parent_id" belongs_to :parent, :class_name => "Category" ... end I have a form which allows a user to create an item which currently lists all categories in a select, but they are all listed together: <%= f.label :category_id %> <%= select :item, :category_id, Category.all.collect {|c| [ c.title, c.id ]} %> So the select looks something like this: Category1 Category2 Category3BelongsTo2 Category4BelongsTo1 But what I want is: Category1 - Category4BelongsTo1 Category2 - Category3BelongsTo2 Is there a helper for this (which would be awesome!)? If not, how could I accomplish this? Thanks!

  • How to keep PayPal variables secure

    - by dclowd9901
I'm trying to link my 3rd party shopping cart to PayPal, and in the process I'm finding that my variables are extremely exposed, such that, if someone uses, say, Firebug, to manipulate the values of my variables, they can change the cost of the items in the transaction. I'm very new to online carts and shopping, so my question is how do I keep this layer of exposure away from users and secure for the website?

  • Find value of selected item in Drop down menu.

    - by Ozaki
I have a drop down menu in an ASPX page along the lines of: <form> <select name="cars"> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="fiat" selected="selected">Fiat</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> </form> That is dynamically generated from another controller (value and label). After the user selects one of the options I need to find out what the selected value/label (will be the same) is so I can hit an update button and retrieve the data on that option. What would be the easiest way to find out the value of the user "selected" option?

  • Loop throught form inputs

    - by Victor
I have a form with lots of inputs. I want to get each id and value and then put them in $.load method. I tried this: $("#form input").each(function() { var name = $(this).attr("id"); var value = $(this).attr("value"); $.extend(params, { name, value }); }); and then use $.load("script.php", params); But obviously it doesn't work. In params I have only one element "name". And I'm not sure I should use extend method too.

  • Aligning inputs on bootstrap using the Fluid Grid System

    - by sguha
    I am creating a form that requires the user to input their name and email address. The first line of the form has two inputs side by side for each part of the name and the 2nd line has one input for the email address that should be the same width as the first line combined. I'm trying to use the fluid grid system but can't line up the 2nd row with the first. <form action="/subscriptions" method="post"> <fieldset> <div class="control-group"> <label class="control-label" for="name">Name</label> <div class="controls row-fluid"> <input class="span2" id="first_name" name="first_name" placeholder="First" required="required" type="text"> <input class="span2" id="last_name" name="last_name" placeholder="Last" required="required" type="text"> </div> </div> <div class="control-group"> <label class="control-label" for="email">Email</label> <div class="controls row-fluid"> <input class="span4" id="email" name="email" type="email"> </div> </div> </fieldset> </form>? http://jsfiddle.net/sguha095/v4amX/

  • Rails: form input type and getting the filename

    - by Shyam
Hi, As I am using Ruby on Rails to build an application, which only runs locally, I am lost in the woods (a nuby without a compass). I have a simple MVC application and my view is missing one thing I could really use. I want to select a local file just to retrieve it's filename. I know it's relatively easy to use the form tag helpers for uploading: <%= file_field 'upload', 'datafile' %></p> I wonder how I could get the filename from the selected file, without uploading the file.

  • replace values in form.data when form fails validation

    - by John
Hi I have a form field which requires a json object as its value when it is rendered. When the form is submitted it returns a comma seperated string of ids as its value (not a json string). however if the form does not validate i want to turn this string of ids back into a json string so it will display properly (is uses jquery to render the json object correctly). how would i do this? I was thinking of overwriting the form.clean method but when I tried to change self.data['fieldname'] I got the error 'This QueryDict instance is immutable' and when i tried to change self.cleaned_data['fieldname'] it didn't make a difference to the value of the field. Thanks

  • jQuery when div is clicked update input field issue

    - by stogdilla
Hello, I'm rather new to jquery so this may be the issue. I have a script that outputs several divs all with different text data in them. I would like it when I click one of them that an input field's value is updated to that text currently I have: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("a.results]").click(function() { data= this.text(); $("#updateme").val(data); }); }); </script> <p> <label>Field <input type="text" name="updateme" id="updateme"> </label> </p> <a href="#" class="results">Florida</a> <a href="#" class="results">Florida 2</a> <a href="#" class="results">Florida 3</a> How can I make it so that whatever link is clicked that is the data that gets updated into the input's value? I can get it to take one or I can script out different cases of each changing the class name but I think there has to be a way where it references whatever link is being clicked instead of what it's currently doing. Thanks in advance!

  • Form character encoding problems with special characters

    - by Enrique
    Hello I have a jsp with an html form. I set the content type like this: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" %> When I send special characters like á é í ó ú they are saved correctly in the database. My table charset is utf-8. I want to change iso-8859 to utf-8 like this to standardize my application and accept more special characters: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8" %> but when I change it to utf-8 the special characters á é í ó ú are not saved correctly in the databse. When I try to save á it is saved as á In the server side I'm using Spring MVC. I'm getting the text field value like this: String strField = ServletRequestUtils.getStringParameter(request, "field");

  • How can I make Access combo boxes unfurl on arrow key down?

    - by Matt Parker
With combo box controls, I'm used to being able tab to them, click the down arrow key to open up the options, and then use the up and down arrow keys to navigate those options. In an Access form I've designed, pressing down while a combo box is active moves to the next control. I already have tab for that, so how can I get the down arrow to behave as I expect? These combo boxes are the only thing between me and a mouse-free form, which I consider essential for data entry. Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Multiple use of a form before it is submitted

    - by OregonTrail
I'm new to JavaScript, and trying to figure out the canonical way to do the following. I have a form with some checkboxes and a selector. Let's say the checkboxes are styles of music and the selector is for people's names. I'd like the user to be able to select the styles of music for each of the people's names and then submit the form with all of the data. For example, the user might first check off Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Pop and choose "Joe", then select Jazz, Pop, Country, and Electronica and choose "Jane". So there would have to be two different buttons for "submit person" and "submit form". I would like to: Have a list of the names and their chosen styles populate below the form, for feedback Allow the user to use the form as much as they want, and then submit all the data at the end I get the feeling that using jquery and JSON is perfect for this, but I'm not sure what search terminology to use to figure out how to do this. If it matters, the form will be processed by a Django view in Python.

  • What is the recommended way to handle different user roles in a C# application?

    - by Sergio Tapia
I'm going to make a small application for a business that will be used locally for scanning, and storing documents in a database located on the local machine or on a machine located in the same LAN. I could create a table called Users with username and password and according to the usertype ID show a form, or another form. But I'm more interested in the recommended approach by seasoned programmers. Any advice?
