  • Sleep a thread until an event is attended in another thread from a different class

    I have an application that fires 2 threads, the 1st launches another class to do some processing which in turn launches a 3rd class to do yet more processing. The 2nd thread in the main class should wait until some event in the 3rd class completes before it performs its job. How can this be achieved? I had tried implementing a wait/notify to share a lock object between the two threads but technically this will not work as I found the hard way. Can I share a lock between classes? Note, an instance of the 3rd class is declared in the 1st class and passed as parameter to the 2nd class. Also I tried creating boolean value in 3rd class that tells when event is complete then poll 2nd thread till this value is true. This worked but is not very desirable. Also is actionListner a better approach to this problem?

    I hava a simple program about video recording . I use the surfaceView to show the preview screen. and I also want to put some buttons on the screen. I put all the component mentioned above into a XML file which is "ipcam.xml" I use MediaRecorder , SurfaceView , SurfaceHolder to complete this program because the preview screen does not orientate correctly when I rotate my phone. so I use "setRequestedOrientation(ActivityInfo.SCREEN_ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE);" but , the button in the program is always in LANDSCAPE direction . it will not auto change direction when I rotate my phone , but the preview is ok!! so is there anyway to solve this problem.   • Ideal HTTP cache control headers for different types of resources

    I want to find a minimal set of headers, that work with "all" caches and browsers (also when using HTTPS!) On my (GWT-based) web site, I'll have three kinds of resources: 1. Forever cacheable (public / equal for all users) These files don't ever change, and they get a filename based on the MD5 of their contents (this is GWT's approach). They should get cached as much as possible, even when using HTTPS (so I assume, I should set Cache-Control: public, especially for Firefox?) 2. Changing for every new version of the site (public / equal for all users) These files can be cached, but probably need to be revalidated every time. 3. Individual for each request (private / user specific) These resources (e. g. JSON responses) should never be cached unencrypted to disk under no circumstances. (Maybe I'll have a few specific requests that could be cached.) I have a general idea on which headers I would probably use for each type, but there's always something I could be missing.

    I have an R script file that executes a second R script via: source("../scripts/second_file.R") That second file has the following lines: myfiles <- list.files(".",pattern = "*.csv") ... rm(myfiles) When I run the master R file I get: > source("../scripts/second_file.R") Error in file.remove(myfiles) : object 'myfiles' not found and the program aborts. I think this has something to do with the environment. I looked at ?rm() pages but less than illuminating. I figure I have to give it a position argument, but not sure which.

    I have one very surprising issue with Google Fonts. This is the site in question. The title is normaly showing in one ligne but a friend of mine with the same Opera version like me sent me this screenshot. You can see that the title goes in two lines and brakes every think. It's the first time I use Gfonts and must admit that there is another problem in Firefox too - the font appears so jagged! Thanks for your advises!

    Hi, I have a question regarding one single module that is distributed over multiple directories. Let's say I have these two file and directories: ~/lib/python xxx __init__.py util __init__.py module1.py module2.py ~/graphics/python xxx __init__.py misc __init__.py module3.py module4.py So then in my Python modules, I did this: import sys pythonlibpath = '~/lib/python' if pythonlibpath not in sys.path: sys.path.append(pythonlibpath) import xxx.util.module1 which works. Now, the problem is that I need xxx.misc.module3, so I did this: import sys graphicslibpath = '~/graphics/python' if graphicslibpath not in sys.path: sys.path.append(graphicslibpath) import xxx.misc.module3 but I get this error: ImportError: No module named misc.module3 It seems like it somehow still remembers that there was a xxx package in ~/lib/python and then tries to find misc.module3 from there. How do I get around this issue?

  • TcpListener problem - re-binding to same port with different local addresses

    I'm trying to do the following: listen on some port for loopback connections only, and then start listening on any IP address. Here is the code: TcpListener l1 = new TcpListener(new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Loopback, 12345)); l1.Start(); Socket s = l1.AcceptSocket(); Console.ReadKey(); //s.Close(); l1.Stop(); TcpListener l2 = new TcpListener(new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, 12345)); l2.Start(); l2.AcceptSocket(); Console.ReadKey(); The problem is that if a client connects while listening on the Loopback address (l1), then no other client can connect to the Loopback address when the second listener (l2) starts listening. why is that? Another thing I noticed is that if I close all clients that connected to l1 (the remarked line), then l2 does accept loopback connections. Any ideas?

    on a plesk 9.3.0 running Apache on CentOS I have 6 vhosts setup. All of them run wordpress, installed via installatron. Sometimes, when I request mynewsite.com (last site created) it instead shows firstsite.com (first site setup in this VPS). this only happens on mynewsite.com. It has never occurred on any of the other sites in this VPS. I am baffled. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

    First Device: 8gb 2nd gen Version: 3.1.3 (7E18) Model: MB528LL Second Device: 32gb 3rd gen Version: 3.1.3 (7E18) Model: MC008LL When I call goBack on the 8gb device, shouldStartLoadWithRequest:navigationType: is called When I call goBack on the 32gb device, shouldStartLoadWithRequest:navigationType: is not called I am not doing any caching (not like it works anyway). To make sure it wasn't caching I removed any possible caching via the request object's cache policy and removing all cache whenever webViewDidFinishLoading is called. Same app, same url, everything is the same but the device itself. Why? FYI: shouldStartLoadWithRequest:navigationType: is called on the simulator when goBack is called

    I am defining a primary key in MongoMapper. class B key :_id, string key :externalId, string end The problem is that everything i add a new record in B, it appears that I need to explicity specify the _id, when it is already defined in the external id B.new(:_id=>"123", :external_id=>"123 ) That does not quite make sense. There should be a way to specify externalId as the primary key, no?

    Hey, I have some code which queries a web server using HTTP GET URLConnection connection = new URL("www.example.com" + "?blah=ok").openConnection(); connection.setRequestProperty("Accept-Charset", "UTF-8"); InputStream http_response = connection.getInputStream(); Now when I run this code while connected to WiFi I get the expected response but when I run this with WiFi disabled I instead seem to get the response of www.example.com without the appended query. Does anyone know why this is happening?

    I have the following content types: Camp - the top level type Registration Information - contains node reference to Camp called Camp Medical Release Form - contains node reference to registration information called Camper I would like to create a View that takes the nid for the Camp, and pulls out all the fields for the Registration Info and Medical Release Form. I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up the various arguments/relationships. I haven't done something that's referenced more than two types. I know it would be smart/best to just combine the Registration Info and Medical Release Form, since it's a 1:1 mapping, but we can't. So... any help would be appreciated!

    i have 2 customer views one for create and one for edit. i am using the same Customer view model for both. i want to make the 'customer no field' required on the add but not the edit. if i put the requiredfield attribute on the view model property then both views flag 'Customer No' as required (as you would expect). Is there a built in solution to get around this problem or am i going to have to create 2 seperate view models, one with the attribute and one without. Thanks

    I'm trying to be able to dynamically expand / collapse multiple divs with the same code.... it's controlled with the click of a span (toggle) and then i'm trying to get the next id(the div that would slide up and down) $('span').toggle( function() { $('#albumholder').slideToggle(600); $(this).html('-');}, function() { $('#albumholder').slideToggle(600); $(this).html('+');} ); This code works to expand 1 div... but assume i have a divs #downloadholder#linksholderetc...     Hello, I need help dealing with an array in my java program. in my first class, "test", I set 4 variables and then send them to my other class (test2). arr[i] = new test2(id, fname, lname, case); at that point, variables are set and then I want to return those variables. So in the test2 class, I have a method that strictly returns one of those variables public int getId(){ return id; } I understand this is a little stupid, but professor gets what professor wants I guess. What I want to do now is in my main method in "test" I want to retrieve that variable and sort the array based on that int. Unfortunately, I have to create my own sort function, but I think this would work for what I want to do. for(j = 0; j < arr.length; j++){ int indexMin =j; for(i = j; i < arr.length;i++){ if(arr[i] < arr[indexMin]){ indexMin = i; } } int tmp = arr[j]; arr[j] = arr[indexMin]; arr[indexMin] = tmp; } I appreciate any help anyone could provide.
