    I have Canine and CanineHandler objects in my application. The CanineHandler object has a PersonID (which references a completely different database), an EffectiveDate (which specifies when a handler started with the canine), and a FK reference to the Canine (CanineID). Given a specific PersonID, I want to find all canines they're currently responsible for. I haven't had to write anything in HQL yet, so I'll have to tackle that eventually anyway, but my question is whether/how I can do this sub-query with the criterion/subqueries objects. I got as far as creating the following detached criteria: DetachedCriteria effectiveHandlers = DetachedCriteria.For<Canine>() .SetProjection(Projections.ProjectionList() .Add(Projections.Max("EffectiveDate"),"MaxEffectiveDate") .Add(Projections.GroupProperty("CanineID"),"handledCanineID") ); but I can't figure out how to do the inner join. If I do this: Session.CreateCriteria<Canine>() .CreateCriteria("CanineHandler", "handler", NHibernate.SqlCommand.JoinType.InnerJoin) .List<Canine>(); I get an error "could not resolve property: CanineHandler of: OPS.CanineApp.Model.Canine". Obviously I'm missing something(s) but from the documentation I got the impression that should return a list of Canines that have handlers (possibly with duplicates). Until I can make this work, adding the subquery isn't going to work... I've found similar questions, such as http://stackoverflow.com/questions/747382/only-get-latest-results-using-nhibernate but none of the answers really seem to apply with the kind of direct result I'm looking for. Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

    If I made a program that stores strings on a text file using the "list"-function(#include ), and then I want to copy all of the text from that file and call it something(so I can tell the program to type in all of the text I copied somewhere by using that one variable to refer to the text), do I use a string,double,int or what do I declare that chunk of text as? I'm making the program using c++ in a simple console application.

Why would nothing be there if the file is there, the variable 'files' has the file as well. Do I need to do anything to the file I put into the Assets folder in get it to be readable?

    Hi I need a utility to close server socket handles open by the process, on windows. I cannot use tcpview as it does not close the server socket (ESTABLISHED state). Process explorer comes close with its handle list and "close handle" option, but it only gives the handle path (like \Device\Afd) and if application has open many such sockets I cannot tell which handle I would like to close. Any idea?

  • MATLAB arbitrary code execution

    I am writing an automatic grader program under linux. There are several graders written in MATLAB, so I want to tie them all together and let students run a program to do an assignment, and have them choose the assignment. I am using a C++ main program, which then has mcc-compiled MATLAB libraries linked to it. Specifically, my program reads a config file for the names of the various matlab programs, and other information. It then uses that information to present choices to the student. So, If an assignment changes, is added or removed, then all you have to do is change the config file. The idea is that next, the program invokes the correct matlab library that has been compiled with mcc. But, that means that the libraries have to be recompiled if a grader gets changed. Worse, the whole program must be recompiled if a grader is added or removed. So, I would like one, simple, unchanging matlab library function to call the grader m-files directly. I currently have such a library, that uses eval on a string passed to it from the main program. The problem is that when I do this, apparently, mcc absorbs the grader m-code into itself; changing the grader m code after compilation has no effect. I would like for this not to happen. It was brought to my attention that Mathworks may not want me to be able to do this, since it could bypass matlab entirely. That is not my intention, and I would be happy with a solution that requires a full matlab install. My possible solutions are to use a mex file for the main program, or have the main program call a mcc library, which then calls a mex file, which then calls the proper grader. The reason I am hesitant about the first solution is that I'm not sure how many changes I would have to make to my code to make it work; my code is C++, not C, which I think makes things more complicated. The 2nd solution, though, may just be more complicated and ultimately have the same problem. So, any thoughts on this situation? How should I do this?

  • A more elegant way to parse a string with ruby regular expression using variable grouping?

    At the moment I have a regular expression that looks like this: ^(cat|dog|bird){1}(cat|dog|bird)?(cat|dog|bird)?$ It matches at least 1, and at most 3 instances of a long list of words and makes the matching words for each group available via the corresponding variable. Is there a way to revise this so that I can return the result for each word in the string without specifying the number of groups beforehand? ^(cat|dog|bird)+$ works but only returns the last match separately , because there is only one group.

  • How do you automatically remove the preview window after autocompletion in Vim?

    I'm using omnifunc=pythoncomplete. When autocompleting a word (e.g., os.), I get the list of eligible class members and functions, as expected, as well as a scratch buffer preview window with documentation about the selected member or function. This is great, but after selecting the function I want, the preview window remains. I can get rid of it with ":pc", but I'd like it just to automatically disappear after I've selected my function, a la Eclipse. I've played around with "completeopt" but to no avail.

First, a list of properties applied to object triples: Object1 Object2 Object3 Property Value O1 O2 O3 P1 "abc" O1 O2 O3 P2 "xyz" O1 O3 O4 P1 "123" O2 O4 O5 P1 "098" Second, an inheritance tree: O1 O2 O4 O3 O5 Or viewed as a relation: Object Parent O2 O1 O4 O2 O3 O1 O5 O3 O1 null The semantics of this being that O2 inherits properties from O1; O4 - from O2 and O1; O3 - from O1; and O5 - from O3 and O1, in that order of precedence. NOTE 1: I have an efficient way to select all children or all parents of a given object. This is currently implemented with left and right indexes, but hierarchyid could also work. This does not seem important right now. NOTE 2: I have tiggers in place that make sure that the "Object" column always contains all possible objects, even when they do not really have to be there (i.e. have no parent or children defined). This makes it possible to use inner joins rather than severely less effiecient outer joins. The objective is: Given a pair of (Property, Value), return all object triples that have that property with that value either defined explicitly or inherited from a parent. NOTE 1: An object triple (X,Y,Z) is considered a "parent" of triple (A,B,C) when it is true that either X = A or X is a parent of A, and the same is true for (Y,B) and (Z,C). NOTE 2: A property defined on a closer parent "overrides" the same property defined on a more distant parent. NOTE 3: When (A,B,C) has two parents - (X1,Y1,Z1) and (X2,Y2,Z2), then (X1,Y1,Z1) is considered a "closer" parent when: (a) X2 is a parent of X1, or (b) X2 = X1 and Y2 is a parent of Y1, or (c) X2 = X1 and Y2 = Y1 and Z2 is a parent of Z1 In other words, the "closeness" in ancestry for triples is defined based on the first components of the triples first, then on the second components, then on the third components. This rule establishes an unambigous partial order for triples in terms of ancestry. The straightforward way to do it is the following. (see above) ) where InheritancePriority = 1 The window function row_number() over( ... ) does the following: for every unique combination of objects triple and property, it sorts all values by the ancestral distance from the triple to the parents that the value is inherited from, and then I only select the very first of the resulting list of values. A similar effect can be achieved with a GROUP BY and ORDER BY statements, but I just find the window function semantically cleaner (the execution plans they yield are identical). The point is, I need to select the closest of contributing ancestors, and for that I need to group and then sort within the group. And finally, now I can simply filter the result set by Property and Value. This scheme works. Very reliably and predictably. It has proven to be very powerful for the business task it implements. The only trouble is, it is awfuly slow. One might point out the join of seven tables might be slowing things down, but that is actually not the bottleneck. According to the actual execution plan I'm getting from the SQL Management Studio (as well as SQL Profiler), the bottleneck is the sorting. The problem is, in order to satisfy my window function, the server has to sort by Children1.Id, Children2.Id, Children3.Id, tp.Property, Parents1.[depthInTheTree] descending, Parents2.[depthInTheTree] descending, Parents3.[depthInTheTree] descending, and there can be no indexes it can use, because the values come from a cross join of several tables. EDIT: Per Michael Buen's suggestion (thank you, Michael), I have posted the whole puzzle to sqlfiddle here. One can see in the execution plan that the Sort operation accounts for 32% of the whole query, and that is going to grow with the number of total rows, because all the other operations use indexes. Usually in such cases I would use an indexed view, but not in this case, because indexed views cannot contain self-joins, of which there are six. The only way that I can think of so far is to create six copies of the Objects table and then use them for the joins, thus enabling an indexed view. Did the time come that I shall be reduced to that kind of hacks? The despair sets in.
