  I have a timer thread that needs to run at a particular moments of the day to do an incremental replication with a database. Right now it runs at the hour, 15 minutes past the hour, 30 minutes past the hour and 45 minutes past the hour. I have created a full replication process (as opposed to incremental) that I would like to run at a certain moment of the day, say 2:00am. How would change the above code to do this? I think that it should be very simple something like if it is now around 2:00am and it's been a long time since I did the full replication then do it now, but I can't get the if right. Beware that sometimes the replicate process takes way longer to complete. Sometimes beyond the 15 minutes, posing a problem in running at around 2:00am.

• Why is my file being cleared if I don't save it?

  My program is suppose to maintain a collection of Photos in a PhotoAlbum. It begins by reading a folder of photos and adds them to my PhotoAlbum. It then prints a menu that allows the user to list all the photos, add a photo, find a photo, save, and quit the program. Right now if I run my program it will add the 100 photos to the PhotoAlbum, but if I quit the program without saving, it clears the file I am reading from even if I haven't added a photo or done anything to the PhotoAlbum and I'm not sure why. • JSF hiding exceptions?

  I have a managed bean for a JSF page which is doing JPA calls in the constructor to populate fields in the bean. I'm having a bit of trouble with another call to persist an entity (to populate data for testing). I'm expecting it to throw some sort of exception since it's not working, but I'm not getting anything. Just of the heck of it I tried the following: Query newQuery = em.createQuery("Bad Syntax"); List newList = newQuery.getResultList(); I'd expect an IllegalArgumentException here since the query string is completely invalid, but the page still loads and I don't see any exceptions anywhere. Am I right in expecting this exception? If so, why am I not seeing it?

  I'm using google-collections and trying to find the first element that satisfies Predicate if not, return me 'null'. Unfortunately, Iterables.find and Iterators.find throws NoSuchElementException when no element is found. Now, I am forced to do Object found = null; if ( Iterators.any( newIterator(...) , my_predicate ) { found = Iterators.find( newIterator(...), my_predicate ) } I can surround by 'try/catch' and do the same thing but for my use-cases, I am going to encounter many cases where no-element is found. Is there a simpler way of doing this?

Not difficult to solve, but I was struck with how unhelpful that particular error message was to identifying the actual problem.   This may be a long shot question.. I am working on an application that is based on JSP/Javascript only (without a Web framework!) Is there a way to have depencency injection for JSP beans? By jsp beans I mean beans defined like this <jsp:useBean id="cart" scope="session" class="session.Carts" /> Is there a way/library/hack to intercept the bean creation so that when "cart" is referenced for the first time, some some of injection takes place? Can I define somewhere a "listener" for JSP beans (like you can do for JSF beans for example)? I am free to do anything I want in the back-end, but I cannot add a web framework in the front-end (Don't ask!)

• Hibernate many-to-many mapping not saved in pivot table

  I having problems saving many to many relationships to a pivot table. The way the pojos are created is unfortunately a pretty long process which spans over a couple of different threads which work on the (to this point un-saved) object until it is finally persisted. I associate the related objects to one another right after they are created and when debugging I can see the List of related object populated with their respective objects. So basically all is fine to this point.
