  • Adding to existing JList

    - by Máca Danilov
    I need some help about adding items to JList. I work on some "library" kind of project. And I need to add readers to already existing JList. But when I try to add it, JList just resets, removes all the readers and starts adding readers to a new blank JList. But I don't need it to make new list but add it to the already existing one. I know it's something about creating new model after adding, but i don't know where to fix it. panelHorni = new JPanel(); listModel = new DefaultListModel(); listCtenaru = new JList(listModel); FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream("myjlist.bin"); ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(fis); listCtenaru = (JList)ois.readObject(); listScroll = new JScrollPane(); listScroll.add(listCtenaru); listCtenaru.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(350, 417)); listCtenaru.setBackground(new Color(238,238,238)); panelHorni.add(listCtenaru); listener public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { String jmeno = pole1.getText(); String prijmeni = pole2.getText(); listModel.addElement(jmeno +" "+ prijmeni); listCtenaru.setModel(listModel); pole1.setText(""); pole2.setText(""); pole1.requestFocus();

  • Checking if a file is a directory or just a file.

    - by Jookia
    I'm writing a program to check if something is a file or is a directory. Is there a better way to do it than this? #include <stdio.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <dirent.h> #include <errno.h> int isFile(const char* name) { DIR* directory = opendir(name); if(directory != NULL) { closedir(directory); return 0; } if(errno == ENOTDIR) { return 1; } return -1; } int main(void) { const char* file = "./testFile"; const char* directory = "./"; printf("Is %s a file? %s.\n", file, ((isFile(file) == 1) ? "Yes" : "No")); printf("Is %s a directory? %s.\n", directory, ((isFile(directory) == 0) ? "Yes" : "No")); return 0; }

  • Android: sending xml as document object, POST method

    - by juro
    i am new at programming and i need some help with that please =/ web service is already written but not by me. so all i have to do is send xml as document object by post method through web service. my code: public class send extends application { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle icicle) { super.onCreate(icicle); HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost("http://app.local/test/"); try { DocumentBuilderFactory documentBuilderFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder documentBuilder = documentBuilderFactory.newDocumentBuilder(); Document document = documentBuilder.newDocument(); Element rootElement = document.createElement("packet"); rootElement.setAttribute("version", "1.2"); document.appendChild(rootElement); Element em = document.createElement("imei"); em.appendChild(document.createTextNode("000000000000000")); rootElement.appendChild(em); em = document.createElement("username"); em.appendChild(document.createTextNode("5555")); rootElement.appendChild(em); HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println("XML Pasing Excpetion = " + e); } } }

  • How to send KeyEvents through an input method service to a Dialog, or a Spinner menu?

    - by shutdown11
    I'm trying to implement an input method service that receives intents sent by a remote client, and in response to those sends an appropriate KeyEvent. I'm using in the input method service this method private void keyDownUp(int keyEventCode) { getCurrentInputConnection().sendKeyEvent( new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN, keyEventCode)); getCurrentInputConnection().sendKeyEvent( new KeyEvent(KeyEvent.ACTION_UP, keyEventCode)); } to send KeyEvents as in the Simple Sofykeyboard Sample, and it works in the home, in Activities... but it doesn't works when a Dialog or the menu of a Spinner is in foreground. The events is sent to the parent activity behind the Dialog. Is there any way to send keys and control the device like using the hardware keys from an input method? Better explanation on what I'm trying to do: I am kind of writng an Input Method that allows to control the device from remote. I write in a client (a java application on my desktop pc) a command (for example "UP"), a server on the device with sendBroadcast() sends the intent with the information, and a receiver in the input method gets it and call keyDownUp with the keycode of the DPAD_UP key. It generally works, but when I go to an app that shows a dialog, the keyDownUp method don't sends the key event to the dialog, for example for select the yes or not buttons, but it keeps to control the activty behind the Dialog.

  • Reading lines of data from text files using java

    - by razshan
    I have a text file with x amount of lines. each line holds a integer number. When the user clicks a button, an action is performed via actionlistener where it should list all the values as displayed on the text file. However, right now I have linenum set to 10 implying I already told the code that just work with 10 lines of the text file. So, if my text file has only 3 rows/lines of data...it will list those lines and for rest of the other 7 lines, it will spit out "null". I recall there is a way to use ellipsis to let the program know that you don't know the exact value but at the end it calculates it based on the given information. Where my given information will the number of lines with numbers(data). Below is part of the code. private class thehandler implements ActionListener{ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent event){ BufferedReader inputFile=null; try { FileReader freader =new FileReader("Data.txt"); inputFile = new BufferedReader(freader); String MAP = ""; int linenum=10; while(linenum > 0) { linenum=linenum-1; MAP = inputFile.readLine();//read the next line until the specfic line is found System.out.println(MAP); } } catch( Exception y ) { y.printStackTrace(); } }}

  • How to run a long task in backgroung in iOS applications?

    - by John Canady
    I am developing an application which requires running a task in background. I am trying this by calling a method which will retrieve(download) data from web server through web services. this method will call some more methods which are in different view controller classes. Here when I tap on home button of device, the method is calling but no further execution of the remaining code. This is the code I have written in (void)applicationDidEnterBackground:(UIApplication )application { UIApplication app = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; UIBackgroundTaskIdentifier bgTask = 0; bgTask = [app beginBackgroundTaskWithExpirationHandler:^{ [app endBackgroundTask:bgTask]; bgTask = UIBackgroundTaskInvalid; }]; // Start the long-running task and return immediately. dispatch_async(dispatch_get_global_queue(DISPATCH_QUEUE_PRIORITY_DEFAULT, 0), ^{ // Do the work associated with the task. NSString *updatekey = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"updatesetting"]; if([updatekey isEqualToString:@"enabled"]) { DataSettingsView *periodicUpdate = [[DataSettingsView alloc] init]; [periodicUpdate updateDataPeriodically]; //[periodicUpdate viewDidLoad]; //[periodicUpdate release]; } [app endBackgroundTask:bgTask]; bgTask = UIBackgroundTaskInvalid; }); } some one please help me in this background execution of long tasks with some example of code. Some help will appreciated and helpful to me.

  • Adding text read from a file to an array list in java

    - by user1824856
    I am having trouble putting text read from a file into an array list. My text looks like this: 438;MIA;JFK;10:55;1092;447 638;JFK;MIA;19:45;1092;447 689;ATL;DFW;12:50;732;448 etc... My code looks like this: package filesexample; import java.io.*; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.ArrayList; /** * * @author */ public class FilesExample { /** * @param args the command line arguments */ public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { File file = new File ("/Schedule.txt"); try { Scanner scanner= new Scanner(file);; while (scanner.hasNextLine()) { String line = scanner.nextLine(); Scanner lineScanner= new Scanner(line); lineScanner.useDelimiter(";"); while(lineScanner.hasNext()){ String part = lineScanner.next(); System.out.print(part + " "); } System.out.println(); } }catch (FileNotFoundException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } } Some help on getting started would be much appreciated thank you!

  • Lightcore IoC is returning the same instance when it should give a new one

    - by Anthony
    I have the following code using the lightcore IoC container. But it fails with "NUnit.Framework.AssertionException: Contained objects are equal" which indicates that the objects that should be transient, are not. Is this a bug in lightcore, or am I doing it wrong? [Test] public void JellybeanDispenserHasNewInstanceEachTimeWithDefault() { var builder = new ContainerBuilder(); builder.Register<IJellybeanDispenser, VanillaJellybeanDispenser>(); builder.Register<SweetVendingMachine>().ControlledBy<TransientLifecycle>(); builder.Register<SweetShop>(); builder.DefaultControlledBy<TransientLifecycle>(); IContainer container = builder.Build(); SweetShop sweetShop = container.Resolve<SweetShop>(); SweetShop sweetShop2 = container.Resolve<SweetShop>(); Assert.IsFalse(ReferenceEquals(sweetShop, sweetShop2), "Root objects are equal"); Assert.IsFalse(ReferenceEquals(sweetShop.SweetVendingMachine, sweetShop2.SweetVendingMachine), "Contained objects are equal"); Assert.IsFalse(ReferenceEquals(sweetShop.SweetVendingMachine.JellybeanDispenser, sweetShop2.SweetVendingMachine.JellybeanDispenser), "services are equal"); } PS: I would tag this question with "lightcore", but suddenly my reputation isn't good enough to make a new tag. Huh.

  • Audio Streaming Latency

    - by killianmcc
    I'm writing a UDP local area network video chat system and have got the video and audio streams working. However I'm experiencing a little latency (about half a second) in the audio and was wondering what codecs would provide the least latency. I'm using NAudio (http://naudio.codeplex.com/) which provides me access to the following codecs for streaming; Speex Narrow Band (VBR) Speex Wide Band (16kHz)(VBR) Speex Ultra Wide Band (32kHz)(VBR) DSP Group TrueSpeech (8.5kbps) GSM 6.10 (13kbps) Microsoft ADPCM (32.8kbps) G.711 a-law (64kbps) G.722 16kHz (64kbps) G.711 mu-law (64kbps) PCM 8kHz 16 bit uncompressed (128kbps) I've tried them out and I'm not noticing much difference. Is there any others that I should download and try to reduce latency? I'm only going to be sending voice over the connection but I'm not really worried about quality or background noises too much. UPDATE I'm sending the audio in blocks like so; waveIn = new WaveIn(); waveIn.BufferMilliseconds = 50; waveIn.DeviceNumber = inputDeviceNumber; waveIn.WaveFormat = codec.RecordFormat; waveIn.DataAvailable += waveIn_DataAvailable; void waveIn_DataAvailable(object sender, WaveInEventArgs e) { if (connected) { byte[] encoded = codec.Encode(e.Buffer, 0, e.BytesRecorded); udpSender.Send(encoded, encoded.Length); } }

  • c++ malloc segment fault

    I have a problem about malloc(). It is wired. My code is in the following. I use random generator to generate elements for an array. The array is opened by malloc(). If the array size is smaller than 8192, it is OK. If the size is larger than 8192, it shows segment fault. void random_generator(int num, int * array) { srand((unsigned)time(0)); int random_integer; for(int index=0; index< num; index++){ random_integer = (rand()%10000)+1; *(array+index) = random_integer; cout << index << endl; } } int main() { int array_size = 10000; int *input_array; input_array = (int*) malloc((array_size)); random_generator(8192, input_array); // if the number is larger than 8192, segment fault free(input_array); }

  • Why do you have to call URLConnection#getInputStream to be able to write out to URLConnection#getOutputStream?

    I'm trying to write out to URLConnection#getOutputStream, however, no data is actually sent until I call URLConnection#getInputStream. • C# image drawing colours are incorrect

    - by Jon Tackabury
    I have a source bitmap that is 1x1 and I am trying to take that image and draw it to a new bitmap. The source bitmap is all red, but for some reason the new bitmap ends up with a gradient (see image). Using the code below, shouldn't the new bitmap be completely red? Where is it getting the white/alpha from? private void DrawImage() { Bitmap bmpSOURCE = new Bitmap(1, 1, PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb); using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(bmpSOURCE)) { g.Clear(Color.Red); } Bitmap bmpTest = new Bitmap(300, 100, PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb); using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(bmpTest)) { g.CompositingMode = CompositingMode.SourceCopy; g.CompositingQuality = CompositingQuality.AssumeLinear; g.InterpolationMode = InterpolationMode.HighQualityBicubic; g.PageUnit = GraphicsUnit.Pixel; g.PixelOffsetMode = PixelOffsetMode.None; g.SmoothingMode = SmoothingMode.None; Rectangle rectDest = new Rectangle(0, 0, bmpTest.Width, bmpTest.Height); Rectangle rectSource = new Rectangle(0, 0, 1, 1); g.DrawImage(bmpSOURCE, rectDest, rectSource, GraphicsUnit.Pixel); } pictureBox1.Image = bmpTest; }

  • Linear Search with Jagged Array?

    - by Nerathas
    Hello, I have the following program that creates 100 random elements trough a array. Those 100 random value's are unique, and every value only gets displayed once. Although with the linear search it keeps looking up the entire array. How would i be able to get a Jagged Array into this, so it only "scans" the remaining places left? (assuming i keep the table at 100 max elements, so if one random value is generated the array holds 99 elements with linear search scans and on...) I assume i would have to implent the jagged array somewhere in the FoundLinearInArray? Hopefully this made any sence. Regards. private int ValidNumber(int[] T, int X, int Range) { Random RndInt = new Random(); do { X = RndInt.Next(1, Range + 1); } while (FoundLinearInArray(T, X)); return X; }/*ValidNumber*/ private bool FoundLinearInArray(int[] A, int X) { byte I = 0; while ((I < A.Length) && (A[I] != X)) { I++; } return (I < A.Length); }/*FoundInArray*/ public void FillArray(int[] T, int Range) { for (byte I = 0; I < T.Length; I++) { T[I] = ValidNumber(T, I, Range); } }/*FillArray*/

  • Saving user settings in Metro app using C#

    - by jitendra garg
    I want to write user selected settings in Metro app, in Local Folder. I have done the code as below, but it is not working. The code to save settings: void OnUnloaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs args) { //code to save app settings. var localSettings = ApplicationData.Current.LocalSettings; localSettings.Values["playerPosition"] = playerPosition; localSettings.Values["aiPosition"] = aiPosition; localSettings.Values["selectedLevel"] = selectedLevel; } The code to read settings: var localSettings = ApplicationData.Current.LocalSettings; if ((localSettings.Values["playerPosition"]) == null) { localSettings.Values["playerPosition"] = 1; localSettings.Values["aiPosition"] = 1; localSettings.Values["selectedLevel"] = "1"; playerPosition = aiPosition = 1; selectedLevel = "1"; } else { playerPosition = (int)localSettings.Values["playerPosition"]; aiPosition = (int)localSettings.Values["aiPosition"]; selectedLevel = (string)localSettings.Values["selectedLevel"]; ---- Clearly I am supposed to save this localSettings variable in a file. But, I am unable to find the code to do that. Also, is Unload event a good place to do it, or should I move it to OnNavigatedFrom event?

So I decided to try it in Ideone where it gives correct output.Can anybody point out the reason ?

  • RadioButtonGroup with each RadioButton added in components?

    - by futureal
    Hi, Working in Flex 3, I have a series of components being rendered on a canvas, each of which should represent a single potential selection, ideally in a RadioButtonGroup. So in my parent canvas I am defining the RadioButtonGroup, and each component provides a single RadioButton. However, this doesn't seem to work. Suppose there is a component called aComponent defined as such: <mx:Canvas ...> ... <mx:RadioButton id="someButton" groupName="myRadioButtonGroup" ... /> </mx:Canvas> The outer canvas: <mx:Canvas ...> ... <mx:Script> public function doesSomething():void { var myComponent:aComponent = new aComponent(); outerCanvas.addChild(myComponent); } </mx:Script> ... <mx:RadioButtonGroup id="myRadioButtonGroup" /> </mx:Canvas> So my guess was that at this point if, say, four of these components were added, the radio buttons would behave in mutually exclusive fashion and I'd be able to access myRadioButtonGroup.selectedValue to get the current selection. However, it doesn't seem to work that way. Is what I'm trying to do even possible, or have I maybe just missed something? Thanks!

  • Why does Eclipse skip lines when I debug JBoss?

    - by ZeKoU
    Hi, I am trying to debug web service call which uses JMS in the background.I have JBoss running in debug mode. What happens is that when I press F6 in Eclipse (to execute current line) it skips certain lines. I have this method: @Override public void log(MsgPayload payload) { 1 Date startTime = new Date(); logger.info("Publishing with BufferedPublisher.java start time:"+startTime); 3 publisher.send(payload); Date endTime = new Date(); logger.info("Publishing with BufferedPublisher.java end time:"+endTime); long mills = endTime.getTime()-endTime.getTime(); double secs = mills/1000.0; logger.info("Publishing with BufferedPublisher.java total time (seconds):"+secs); } So what happens? I have breakpoint at line 1. When I press F6 it skips that line and goes to line 3. When I press F6 again it goes to the end of the method. Half of the code is never executed..??? My question is why. I am assuming my source is not well attached to the real code that is being executed.But how do I change this? Thanks.

    Hi, guys. Here is the example with comments: class Program { // first version of structure public struct D1 { public double d; public int f; } // during some changes in code then we got D2 from D1 // Field f type became double while it was int before public struct D2 { public double d; public double f; } static void Main(string[] args) { // Scenario with the first version D1 a = new D1(); D1 b = new D1(); a.f = b.f = 1; a.d = 0.0; b.d = -0.0; bool r1 = a.Equals(b); // gives true, all is ok // The same scenario with the new one D2 c = new D2(); D2 d = new D2(); c.f = d.f = 1; c.d = 0.0; d.d = -0.0; bool r2 = c.Equals(d); // false! this is not the expected result } } So, what do you think about this?

  • Can a custom MFC window/dialog be a class template instantiation?

    - by John
    There's a bunch of special macros that MFC uses when creating dialogs, and in my quick tests I'm getting weird errors trying to compile a template dialog class. Is this likely to be a big pain to achieve? Here's what I tried: MyDlg.h template <class W> class CMyDlg : public CDialog { typedef CDialog super; DECLARE_DYNAMIC(CMyDlg <W>) public: CMyDlg (CWnd* pParent); // standard constructor virtual ~CMyDlg (); // Dialog Data enum { IDD = IDD_MYDLG }; protected: virtual void DoDataExchange(CDataExchange* pDX); // DDX/DDV support DECLARE_MESSAGE_MAP() private: W *m_pWidget; //W will always be a CDialog }; IMPLEMENT_DYNAMIC(CMyDlg<W>, super) <------------------- template <class W> CMyDlg<W>::CMyDlg(CWnd* pParent) : super(CMyDlg::IDD, pParent) { m_pWidget = new W(this); } I get a whole bunch of errors but main one appears to be: error C2955: 'CMyDlg' : use of class template requires template argument list I tried using some specialised template versions of macros but it doesn't help much, other errors change but this one remains. Note my code is all in one file, since C++ templates don't like .h/.cpp like normal. I'm assuming someone must have done this in the past, possibly creating custom versions of macros, but I can't find it by searching, since 'template' has other meanings.

  • Managing StringBuilder Resources

    - by Jim Fell
    My C# (.NET 2.0) application has a StringBuilder variable with a capacity of 2.5MB. Obviously, I do not want to copy such a large buffer to a larger buffer space every time it fills. By that point, there is so much data in the buffer anyways, removing the older data is a viable option. Can anyone see any obvious problems with how I'm doing this (i.e. am I introducing more performance problems than I'm solving), or does it look okay? tText_c = new StringBuilder(2500000, 2500000); private void AppendToText(string text) { if (tText_c.Length * 100 / tText_c.Capacity > 95) { tText_c.Remove(0, tText_c.Length / 2); } tText_c.Append(text); } EDIT: Additional information: In this application new data is received very rapidly (on the order of milliseconds) through a serial connection. I don't want to populate the multiline textbox with this new information so frequently because that kills the performance of the application, so I'm saving it to a StringBuilder. Every so often, the application copies the contents of the StringBuilder to the textbox and wipes out the StringBuilder contents.

  • onItemClick gives index/ position of item on visible page ... not actual index of the item in list .

    - by Abhinav
    hi, I am creating a list .. the elements of the list are drawn from sqlite database .. I populate the list using ArrayList and ArrayAdapter ...upon clicking the items on the list I want to be able to fire an intent containing info about the item clicked ... info like the index number of the item .. using the method : onItemClick(AdapterView av, View v, int index, long arg) I do get index of the item clicked . however it is of the list currently displayed . the problem comes when I do setFilterTextEnabled(true) , and on the app type in some text to to search some item ..and then click it ..rather than giving me the index of the item on the original list it gives me the index on filtered list.. following is the snippet of code: myListView.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> av, View v, int index, long arg) { Intent lyricsViewIntent = new Intent(iginga.this, LyricsPage.class); lyricsViewIntent.putExtra("title", songList.get((int)arg).getTitle()); lyricsViewIntent.putExtra("id", songList.get((int)arg).getSongId()); startActivity(lyricsViewIntent); } }); myListView.setTextFilterEnabled(true); Is there any way I can get the original index /position of the item instead of the one showing in filtered text ...when filtered.

  • objective C underscore property vs self

    I'm was playing around with the standard sample split view that gets created when you select a split view application in Xcode, and after adding a few fields i needed to add a few fields to display them in the detail view. and something interesting happend in the original sample, the master view sets a "detailItem" property in the detail view and the detail view displays it. - (void)setDetailItem:(id) newDetailItem { if (_detailItem != newDetailItem) { _detailItem = newDetailItem; // Update the view. [self configureView]; } i understand what that does and all, so while i was playing around with it. i thought it would be the same if instead of _detailItem i used self.detailItem, since it's a property of the class. however, when i used self.detailItem != newDetailItem i actually got stuck in a loop where this method is constantly called and i cant do anything else in the simulator. my question is, whats the actual difference between the underscore variables(ivar?) and the properties? i read some posts here it seems to be just some objective C convention, but it actually made some difference.

  • SWIG: From Plain C++ to working Wrapper

    - by duckworthd
    Hi everyone. I've been trying to create a SWIG wrapper for this tiny little C++ class for the better part of 3 hours with no success, so I was hoping one of you out there could lend me a small hand. I have the following class: #include <stdio.h> class Example { public: Example(); ~Example(); int test(); }; #include "example.h" Along with the implementation: Example::Example() { printf("Example constructor called\n"); } Example::~Example() { printf("Example destructor called\n"); } int Example::test() { printf("Holy shit, I work!\n"); return 42; } I've read through the introduction page ( www.swig.org/Doc1.3/Java.html ) a few times without gaining a whole lot of insight into the situation. My steps were Create an example.i file Compile original alongside example_wrap.cxx (no linking) link resulting object files together Create a little java test file (see below) javac all .java files there and run Well steps 4 and 5 have created a host of problems for me, starting with the basic ( library 'example' not found due to not being in java's path ) to the weird ( library not found even unless LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set to something, even if it's nothing at all). I've included my little testing code below public class test2 { static { String libpath = System.getProperty("java.library.path"); String currentDir = System.getProperty("user.dir"); System.setProperty("java.library.path", currentDir + ":" + libpath); System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.library.path")); System.loadLibrary("example"); } public static void main(String[] args){ System.out.println("It loads!"); } } Well, if anyone has navigated these murky waters of wrapping, I could not be happier than if you could light the way, particularly if you could provide the example.i and bash commands to go along with it.
