  • To subclass or not to subclass

    - by poulenc
I have three objects; Action, Issue and Risk. These all contain a nunber of common variables/attributes (for example: Description, title, Due date, Raised by etc.) and some specific fields (risk has probability). The question is: Should I create 3 separate classes Action, Risk and Issue each containing the repeat fields. Create a parent class "Abstract_Item" containing these fields and operations on them and then have Action, Risk and Issue subclass Abstract_Item. This would adhere to DRY principal.

  • when is a push notification old?

    - by hookjd
I have noted that when the iPhone OS receives a push notification, it considers that a user action to click on the action button as a "response" to the push notification for some indefinite period of time. If the user lets the push notification sit on screen for a number of seconds, or lets the phone go to sleep, the phone no longer considers the users action as a response to the push notification itself, and therefore does not launch the corresponding app. So my question is... does anyone know what the precise definition from the iPhone OS is as to how long the phone considers a push notification response to be corresponding to the push? Sorry, I can't find a great way to phrase this question, but I hope it makes sense. I'm guessing its something like 20 seconds from my testing, but I don't see this specifically documented anywhere.

  • Can't pass a single parameter to lambda function in MVVM Light Toolkit's RelayCommand

    - by Dave
I don't know if there's a difference between Josh Smith's and Laurent Bugnion's implementations of RelayCommand or not, but everywhere I've looked, it sounds like the Execute portion of RelayCommand can take 0 or 1 parameters. I've only been able to get it to work with 0. When I try something like: public class Test { public RelayCommand MyCommand { get; set; } public Test() { MyCommand = new RelayCommand((param) => SomeFunc(param)); } private void SomeFunc( object param) { } } I get the error: Delegate 'System.Action' does not take '1' arguments. Just to make sure I am not insane, I went to the definition of RelayCommand to make sure I didn't have some rogue implementation in my solution somewhere, but sure enough, it was just Action, and not Action<. What on earth am I missing here?

  • Fire Fox 3.6 - location.href not working in JSP

    - by user299873
I have jsp page with method = POST and action='/mydir/mypage/nextpage' I have a button : < button title='Continue' onclick="this.form.perform.value='cancelButton'; javascript:doCloseWindow();" Continue < /button and java script method like: function doCloseWindow(){ location.href = "https://abc.xyz.com/mydir/?param=123"; } It does not work in fire fox 3.6. On click of button; it redirects to the path I mentioned in form action. With Tamper data I find that the request goes to URL ( as in method ) with GET and then it re-directs to form's action URL. I added return false in the method call also.-- javascript:doCloseWindow();return false" I tired various combination like window.location.href = "https://abc.xyz.com/mydir/?param=123"; window.document.location.href = "https://abc.xyz.com/mydir/?param=123"; document.location.href = "https://abc.xyz.com/mydir/?param=123"; But no success.

  • textbox supplied route values with javaScript

    - by Maslow
I've tried the bare method and the T4MVC method but so far both are routing me to the current URL instead of the default path with no arguments for the following action: public virtual ActionResult Index(byte? location, int? sublocation) { } So when I try Url.Action("Index","Locations", new {location="", system=""}) if I'm at a location already this method returns the path to where I'm already at instead of the default path with no arguments. As does the following method with T4MVC. <input type="button" value="Go" style="display:none" onclick="window.location='<%= Url.Action(MVC.Controller.Index()) %>/'+$('input#location').val()+'/'+$('input#sublocation').val()+'/';" /> How can I get the default route with no arguments?

  • Two different actions on form submit

    - by Pankaj Khurana
Hi, I have a form with a submit button. I have called a function on click of submit button. function actionPage(form1) { form1.action="action1.php"; form1.submit(); return(true); } Now i want that the form data should be submitted to two different pages. These pages are on different servers. I know that we can send the data to a particular page according to the conditions but i am not sure whether we can submit to two different pages at the same time i.e: function actionPage(form1) { form1.action="action1.php"; form1.submit(); return(true); form1.action="action2.php"; form1.submit(); return(true); } Right now it is showing action1.php Please guide me on this . • Shorten Zend Framework Route Definitions

    - by Sebastian Hoitz
Hi! How can I shorten the definition of my custom routes in Zend Framework? I currently have this as definition: $route = new Zend_Controller_Router_Route( ":module/:id", array( "controller" => "index", "action" => "index" ), array("id" => "\d+") ); self::$frontController->getRouter()->addRoute('shortcutOne', $route); $route = new Zend_Controller_Router_Route( ":module/:controller/:id", array("action" => "index"), array("id" => "\d+") ); self::$frontController->getRouter()->addRoute('shortcutTwo', $route); $route = new Zend_Controller_Router_Route( ":module/:controller/:action/:id", null, array("id" => "\d+") ); self::$frontController->getRouter()->addRoute('shortcutThree', $route); Is there a way to better combine these rules? And what are your best practices in where to place these? I currently have them in my bootstrap class right after the Front Controller initialization.

  • I need to calculate the date / time difference between one date time column

    - by Stringz
Details. I have the notes table having the following columns. ID - INT(3) Date - DateTime Note - VARCHAR(100) Tile - Varchar(100) UserName - Varchar(100) Now this table will be having NOTES along with the Titles entered by UserName on the specified date / time. I need to calculate the DateTimeDifference between the TWO ROWS in the SAME COLUMN For example the above table has this peice of information in the table. 64, '2010-03-26 18:16:13', 'Action History', 'sending to Level 2.', 'Salman Khwaja' 65, '2010-03-26 18:19:48', 'Assigned By', 'This is note one for the assignment of RF.', 'Salman Khwaja' 66, '2010-03-27 19:19:48', 'Assigned By', 'This is note one for the assignment of CRF.', 'Salman Khwaja' Now I need to have the following resultset in query reports using MYSQL. TASK - TIME Taken ACTION History - 2010-03-26 18:16:13 Assigned By - 00:03:35 Assigned By - 25:00:00 More smarter approach would be TASK - TIME Taken ACTION History - 2010-03-26 18:16:13 Assigned By - 3 minutes 35 seconds Assigned By - 1 day, 1 hour. I would appreciate if one could give me the PLAIN QUERY along with PHP code to embed it too.

  • Custom Display Form with Custom Workflow button

    - by Ifi
I have created a new custom list form that will show 4 fields on the page from a Custom List called "Shipment". I have added Form Action button that I would like to run a custom action that is set inside of a Workflow. Currently, the form displays the fields for "Manifest Number", "Pickup Location", "Delivery Location", & "Scheduled Pickup Time". When the user clicks the Form Action button, what I want the Workflow to do is go to the ID field of the displayed content in the Form and change the value of the "Picked Up" column from No to Yes. The problem I am having is passing the ID of the displayed information from the Form to the Workflow as a variable. I can get the "Picked Up" column to update if I specify the value in the "Update List Item" window under the "Find the List Item" section, but I cannot figure out how to do this dynamically from the Form

    - by Gigg
I am new to ruby and rails and I am having a problem from Beggining Ruby on Rails Ecommerce. (Yes, its an old book). I have these 2 code sets for a view: new.html.erb: <%= form_tag :action= 'create' do -% <%= render :partial = 'form' % <%= submit_tag 'Create' % <%= end -% <% link_to 'Back', :action = 'index' % _form.html.erb: <% error_messages_for 'supplier' % First Name Last Name But It wont show although I added the do option. • How can I combine sequential expression trees into a fast method?

    - by chillitom
    Suppose I have the following expressions: Expression<Action<T, StringBuilder>> expr1 = (t, sb) => sb.Append(t.Name); Expression<Action<T, StringBuilder>> expr2 = (t, sb) => sb.Append(", "); Expression<Action<T, StringBuilder>> expr3 = (t, sb) => sb.Append(t.Description); I'd like to be able to compile these into a method/delegate equivalent to the following: void Method(T t, StringBuilder sb) { sb.Append(t.Name); sb.Append(", "); sb.Append(t.Description); } What is the best way to approach this? I'd like it to perform well, ideally with performance equivalent to the above method.

  • Like Html.RenderAction() but without reinstantiating the controller object

    - by Jørn Schou-Rode
I like to use the RenderAction extension method on the HtmlHelper object to render sidebars and the like in pages, as it allows me to keep the data access code for each such part in separate methods on the controller. Using an abstract controller base, I can define a default "sidebar strategy", which can then be refined by overriding the method in a concrete controller, when needed. The only "problem" I have with this approach, is that the RenderAction is built in a way where it always creates a news instance of the controller class, even when rendering actions from the controller already in action. Some of my controllers does some data lookup in their Initialize method, and using the RenderAction method in the view causes this to occur several times in the same request. Is there some alternative to RenderAction which will reuse the controller object if the action method to be invoked is on the same controller class as the "parent" action?

  • multiple partial views mvc 2

    - by nik1
Hello World! Hi guys, I have a master page with two partial viewson it both of which submit to the AccountController. When I click Submit on either of the partial views the following happens: If I declare the partial views like Html.BeginForm("PartialAction1","Account") it redirects to that partial view on clicking submit instead bringing back the default HomeContoller Index view with validation errors. If I declare the partial view forms as Html.BeginForm() then it returns to the default index view of the home controller. But it actually fires both partial view actions inside the AccountController and thus returns validation errors for both partial views simultaneously. What I want is version 2 above with only one action firing instead of two. Am I missing, hopefully, something very simple? I hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction. Here's the code from my master page for the partial views Html.Action("Login1","Account") Html.Action("Login2", "Account") Many Thanks!

  • Where and which data to save into session on an ASP.NET MVC 2 application?

    - by Shaharyar
I am having some trouble saving the state of my current view. Currenly I have several selectlist calling their own Action method on the controller that returns the Index view with the filtered model based on the values of the selectlist. I have also written a little FileResult action that creates a csv file based on the current model. But I am only covering one selectlist right now as I only save the value of selectList1 into the session and access it with Session["SelectListValue1"] What are the best practices in this situation? Should I redo the entire (each action for each SelectList) part? Should I save each SelectLists value into the session and check if it's null? Or should I just save the Lambda Expression into the session and modify it during every call?

  • How to build C# object from a FormCollection with complex keys

    - by ob
i have a javascript object, obj, that gets passed to an mvc action via a $.post() like so: var obj = { Items: [{ Text: "", Value: { Property1: "", Property2: "" }, { Text: "", Value: { Property1: "", Property2: "" }] }; $.post('MyAction', obj, function() {}); the action signature looks like this: public ActionResult MyAction(FormCollection collection) { } i need to be able to build an object from the FormCollection, however i'm running into an issue where the keys are in the form: "Items[0][Text]" "Items[0][Value][Property1]" "Items[0][Value][Property2]" "Items[1][Text]" "Items[1][Value][Property1]" "Items[1][Value][Property2]" i'm wondering if there's a clean way to build the desired C# object from the given FormCollection. i understand that i could change the action method signature to take in the type of object i'm interested in, but that was presenting its own issues.

  • Problem getting Params in injected controller Zend Framework

    - by simple
I have a layout 'profile' <div> <div> $this->action(action1, controller1, module1)<div> <div> $this->layout()->content </div> <div> $this->action(someotheraction, soController,soModule ); </div And the problem starts when I want to get the $request-Params() from the action1 , controller1 module1 , it is empty. I looked at the code of a helper Action , it does accept as a 4th parameter Params, but then I will have to set it somewhere in the layout - which is not good. Basically what are the recommendations of guru people that are pretty professional with zend Framework. Maybe I should do some work around or should change the concept of how I am injecting additional Controller(module) actions

  • Urlredirect in MVC2

    - by Ken
In global.asax routes.MapRoute( "Test_Default", // Route name "test/{controller}/{action}", // URL with parameters new { } ); routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{universe}", new { controller = "notfound", action = "error"} ); I have a controller: Home, containing an action: Index Enter the url in browser: h**p://localhost:53235/test/home/index Inside the index.aspx view in <body> tag: I want to link to the second route. <%=Html.RouteLink("Link", new { universe = "MyUniverse" })%> Shouldn't this generate a link to the second route in Global.asax? The generated url from the above is: h**p://localhost:53235/test/home/index?universe=MyUniverse. I can only get it to work, if I specify the name of the route: <%=Html.RouteLink("Link", "default", new { universe = "MyUniverse" })%> Am I missing something?

  • Update Rule in Temporal difference

    - by Betamoo
The update rule TD(0) Q-Learning: Q(t-1) = (1-alpha) * Q(t-1) + (alpha) * (Reward(t-1) + gamma* Max( Q(t) ) ) Then take either the current best action (to optimize) or a random action (to explorer) Where MaxNextQ is the maximum Q that can be got in the next state... But in TD(1) I think update rule will be: Q(t-2) = (1-alpha) * Q(t-2) + (alpha) * (Reward(t-2) + gamma * Reward(t-1) + gamma * gamma * Max( Q(t) ) ) My question: The term gamma * Reward(t-1) means that I will always take my best action at t-1 .. which I think will prevent exploring.. Can someone give me a hint? Thanks

  • Which way is more effective?

    - by Danny Chen
I have a huge IEnumerable(suppose the name is myItems), which way is more effective? Solution 1: Filter it first then ForEach. Array.ForEach(myItems.Where(FILTER-IT-HERE).ToArray(),MY-ACTION); Solution 2: Do RETURN in MY-ACTION if the item is not up to the mustard. Array.ForEach(myItems.ToArray(),MY-ACTION-WITH-FILTER); Is one of them always better than another? Or any other good suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • Assistance using respond_to to find the right actions to render PDF in ruby on rails

    - by Angela
Hi, I am trying out Prince with the Princely plugin, which is supposed to format templates that have the .pdf into a PDF generator. Here is my controller: class TodoController < ApplicationController def show_date @date = Date.today @campaigns = Campaign.all @contacts = Contact.all @contacts.each do |contact| end respond_to do |format| format.html format.pdf do render :pdf => "filename", :stylesheets => ["application", "prince"], :layout => "pdf" end end end end I changed the routes.db to include the following: map.connect ':controller/:action.:format' map.todo "todo/today", :controller => "todo", :action => "show_date" My expected behavior is when I enter todo/today.pdf, it tries to execute show_date, but renders according to the princely plugin. Right now, it says cannot find action. What do I need to do to fix this?

  • Reinforcement learning And POMDP

    - by Betamoo
I am trying to use Multi-Layer NN to implement probability function in Partially Observable Markov Process.. I thought inputs to the NN would be: current state, selected action, result state; The output is a probability in [0,1] (prob. that performing selected action on current state will lead to result state) In training, I fed the inputs stated before, into the NN, and I taught it the output=1.0 for each case that already occurred. The problem : For nearly all test case the output probability is near 0.95.. no output was under 0.9 ! Even for nearly impossible results, it gave that high prob. PS:I think this is because I taught it happened cases only, but not un-happened ones.. But I can not at each step in the episode teach it the output=0.0 for every un-happened action! Any suggestions how to over come this problem? Or may be another way to use NN or to implement prob function? Thanks

  • Creating Mock object of Interface with type-hint in method fails on PHPUnit

    - by Mark
I created the following interface: <?php interface Action { public function execute(\requests\Request $request, array $params); } Then I try to make a Mock object of this interface with PHPUnit 3.4, but I get the following error: Fatal error: Declaration of Mock_Action_b389c0b1::execute() must be compatible with that of Action::execute() in D:\Xampp\xampp\php\PEAR\PHPUnit\Framework\TestCase.php(1121) : eval()'d code on line 2 I looked through the stack trace I got from PHPUnit and found that it creates a Mock object that implements the interface Action, but creates the execute method in the following way: <?php public function execute($request, array $params) As you can see, PHPUnit takes over the array type-hint, but forgets about \requests\Request. Which obviously leads to an error. Does anyone knows a workaround for this error? I also tried it without namespaces, but I still get the same error.

  • ASP.NET MVC: Making routes/URLs IIS6 and IIS7-friendly

    - by Seb Nilsson
I have an ASP.NET MVC-application which I want deployable on both IIS6 and IIS7 and as we all know, IIS6 needs the ".mvc"-naming in the URL. Will this code work to make sure it works on all IIS-versions? Without having to make special adjustments in code, global.asax or config-files for the different IIS-versions. bool usingIntegratedPipeline = HttpRuntime.UsingIntegratedPipeline; routes.MapRoute( "Default", usingIntegratedPipeline ? "{controller}/{action}/{id}" : "{controller}.mvc/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } ); Update: Forgot to mention. No ISAPI. Hosted website, no control over the IIS-server.

  • MVC DateTime binding with incorrect date format

    - by Sam Wessel
Asp.net-MVC now allows for implicit binding of DateTime objects. I have an action along the lines of public ActionResult DoSomething(DateTime startDate) { ... } This successfully converts a string from an ajax call into a DateTime. However, we use the date format dd/MM/yyyy; MVC is converting to MM/dd/yyyy. For example, submitting a call to the action with a string '09/02/2009' results in a DateTime of '02/09/2009 00:00:00', or September 2nd in our local settings. I don't want to roll my own model binder for the sake of a date format. But it seems needless to have to change the action to accept a string and then use DateTime.Parse if MVC is capable of doing this for me. Is there any way to alter the date format used in the default model binder for DateTime? Shouldn't the default model binder use your localisation settings anyway?
