Ive tried the ligtning bolt events etc... but I can't seem to figure it out. private void xTripSubmitButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Calculates the numbers from the input and output boxes/labels Miles = double.Parse(this.xTripDestinationTextBox.Text); Mpg = double.Parse(this.xTripMpgTextBox.Text); Price = double.Parse(this.xTripPricepgTextBox.Text); Output = Miles / Mpg; Coutput = Output * Price; //displays a message and the result for the numbers the user inputs this.xTripOutputLabel.Text = "Total gallons you would use: " + Output.ToString("0") + Environment.NewLine + "Total amount it will cost you: " + Coutput.ToString("C"); }

  • In an array of buttons, how can you tell which button was clicked?

    - by Michael Seltenreich
    If I have an array of buttons, how can I tell which button was clicked? example below var i=0 CreateButton = new function () { savebutton[i]=NewButton() i++ } every time a user runs the function a new button is generated. the first button is savebutton[0] the second is savebutton[1] and so on potentially infinity times. when later the user presses the button I want the screen to alert it's index number (or 'i'). is there any way to make this work in arrays?

  • Greasemonkey script, that creates Kineticjs drag and drop canvas over every website

    - by Michael Moeller
    I'd like to put a drag and drop canvas over every website I visit in Firefox. My Greasemonkey script puts a drag and drop canvas under every page: kinetic.user.js: // ==UserScript== // @name kineticjs_example // @description Canvas Drag and Drop // @include * // @require http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js // @require http://d3lp1msu2r81bx.cloudfront.net/kjs/js/lib/kinetic-v4.7.2.min.js // ==/UserScript== var div = document.createElement( 'div' ); with( div ) { setAttribute( 'id', 'container' ); } // append at end document.getElementsByTagName( 'body' )[ 0 ].appendChild( div ); var stage = new Kinetic.Stage({ container: 'container', width: 1000, height: 1000 }); var layer = new Kinetic.Layer(); var rectX = stage.getWidth() / 2 - 50; var rectY = stage.getHeight() / 2 - 25; var box = new Kinetic.Rect({ x: rectX, y: rectY, width: 100, height: 50, fill: '#00D2FF', stroke: 'black', strokeWidth: 4, draggable: true }); // add cursor styling box.on('mouseover', function() { document.body.style.cursor = 'pointer'; }); box.on('mouseout', function() { document.body.style.cursor = 'default'; }); layer.add(box); stage.add(layer); How can I drag and drop this shape over the entire website?

  • Can it be important to call remove() on an EJB 3 stateless session bean? Perhaps on weblogic?

    - by Michael Borgwardt
    I'm in the process of migrating an EJB 2 application to EJB 3 (and what a satisfying task it is to delete all those deployment descriptors!). It used to run on Weblogic and now runs on Glassfish. The task is going very smoothly, but one thing makes me wary: The current code takes great care to ensure that EJBObject.remove() is called on the bean when it's done its job, and other developers have (unfortunately very vague) memories of "bad things" happening when that was not done. However, with EJB3, the implementation class does not implement EJBObject, so there is no remove() method to be called. And my understanding is that there isn't really any point at all in calling it on stateless session beans, since they are, well, stateless. Could these "bad things" have been weblogic-specific? If not, what else? Should I avoid the full EJB3 lightweightness and keep a remote interface that extends EJBObject? Or just write it off as cargo-cult programming and delete all those try/finally clauses? I'm leaning towards the latter, but now feeling very comfortable with it.

  • Grails: can remoteField update multiple fields?

    - by Michael Bavin
    Hi, Assume i have a book entity with an isbn field. When entered a isbn number, i want 2 fields to be updated: title and author. My controller looks like this: def ajaxGetBook = { def book = Book.findByIsbn(params.isbn) if(book==null) book = new Book() render book as JSON } So my call works, and i get a full JSON Book. Now i would like to update 2 texfields by the update attribute <g:remoteField action="ajaxGetBook" update="title" name="isbn" value="${bookInstance?.book?.isbn}" paramName="isbn"/> Now the title field gets updated with the full book object, so that doesn't work. Is it possible to update field title with only the JSON book.title? Is it possible to update more fields at once? I could render book.title as JSON but that works for only one field. Thank you

    - by Michael
    What I am looking to do is if a user complete a form it will provide access to a new location. <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- function validateForm(theForm) { var firstname = theForm.firstname.value; var lastname = theForm.lastname.value; var email = theForm.email.value; if (firstname == "") { alert("Please fill in your First Name."); theForm.firstname.focus(); return false; } if (lastname == "") { alert("Please fill in your Last Name."); theForm.lastname.focus(); return false; } if (email == "") { alert("Please fill in your email address."); theForm.email.focus(); return false; } return true; } I know this part is wrong but I have no idea how to go about doing it. any help would be nice.. if lastname="" if firstname="" if email="" load('www.google.com');

  • How to create DataSource dependency property on a wpf User Control

    - by Michael Hedgpeth
    I have a user control that wraps a grid. I want to be able to set the underlying grid's data source, but through the user control, like this: <my:CustomGrid DataSource="{Binding Path=CollectionView}" /> I have set this up in the grid like this: private static readonly DependencyProperty DataSourceProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("DataSource", typeof(IEnumerable), typeof(CustomGrid)); public IEnumerable DataSource { get { return (IEnumerable)GetValue(DataSourceProperty); } set { SetValue(DataSourceProperty, value); underlyingGrid.DataSource = value; } } But this doesn't work (it doesn't give me an error either). The data source is never set. What am I missing?

  • What is the proper method to stop loading a Flex Module before it has completely loaded?

    - by Michael Prescott
    I seem to recall that Loader.unload() could once be used to stop loading a swf before it had finished loading. I can no longer find documentation or the blog where I read this. Perhaps it was an unofficial feature. Anyhow, IModuleInfo, returned by ModuleManager.getModule() has an unload() method. If I want to halt loading a Flex Module that is in progress, do I just call iModuleInfo_instance.unload()?

  • Is directly executing SQL bad app design?

    - by Michael Lowman
    I'm developing an iOS application that's a manager/viewer for another project. The idea is the app will be able to process the data stored in a database into a number of visualizations-- the overall effect being similar to cacti. I'm making the visualizations fully user-configurable: the user defines what she wants to see and adds restrictions. She might specify, for instance, to graph a metric over the last three weeks with user accounts that are currently active and aren't based in the United States. My problem is that the only design I can think of is more or less passing direct SQL from the iOS app to the backend server to be executed against the database. I know it's bad practice and everything should be written in terms of stored procedures. But how else do I maintain enough flexiblity to keep fully user-defined queries? While the application does compose the SQL, direct SQL is never visible or injectable by the user. That's all abstracted away in UIDateTimeChoosers, UIPickerViews, and the like.

  • Perl : In splice() type of arg1 must be array, cannot be scalar dereference. How to fix?

    - by Michael Mao
    I am trying to comprehend the reference/dereference system in Perl. What I am trying to do is to remove an element by using reference: my $ref= \@{$collection{$_[0]}}; # delete($$ref[$i]); # delete works, I've tested that already splice($$ref, $i, 1); # this wouldn't do. I first tried the delete() subroutine, it works; however, it doesn't shift the index after the removed elements forward by 1, so I cannot continue working on other stuff. I then Googled and found the splice() subroutine which does delete and shift in one go. But the error feedback tells me that "Type of arg 1 to splice must be array (not scalar dereference)..." I then tried something like this: splice(@{$$ref}, $i, 1); That resulted in another error like this: "Not a SCALAR reference at...(pointing at that line)" So I am a bit puzzled, how could I handle this issue? I prefer not using any CPAN or additional library for the solution, if possible.

  • How to discover getters and setters on hibernate objects

    - by Michael Jones
    I need to find a way of taking a hibernate object and discovering at runtime all of the getter methods that relate to persistable fields. I'm using annotations in the classes but have previously had difficulties working with them (I ran into a 2 year old bug the java developers still haven't fixed). Does anyone know how I can do this please, ideally without using annotations? Thanks. PS - What I'm trying to do here is to update a new object with values from an existing object dynamically.

  • WF - Creating a selective list

    - by Michael Bendtsen
    I have a stupid question. I have created a workflow Designer host where I publish my own activities. I also have a property grid which only displays the properties decorated with a special attribute. This designer is going to be used by none IT staff. What I want is that on an activity the user can select a property value from a list. I know I just could create an Enum but I would like it to be dynamic. I.e. all events on a specific interface (extracted using reflection). Is this at all possible or am I stuck with enums?

  • z index background issue in IE

    - by Michael
    I have a jQuery tools scroller set up with controls managing two separate divs of info - one images, the other related text that needs to sit over the top of the images with a transparent bg image. I am using z-indexing to achieve this and am aware of IE's issues with this but am unable to sort it (tested in IE6-8). Image of the issue below: http://test.shakingpaper.com.au/not_working.png It seems that the overlayed div is taking on the containers white. Try as I might, I can't resolve this. • How do you deploy your Rails application?

    - by Michael Sync
    Do you upload your rail application to your host via FTP first? I'm currently using Passenger and Capistrano. If I do "cap deploy" in my local machine then I think Capistrano should upload my rail application to my host, right? Someone from my host is saying that I need to run "cap deploy" in server. I think it doesn't make sense.

  • Implementing a Version check between an Abstract class and it's implementation

    - by Michael Stum
    I have this abstract class and concrete implementation (they are in different assemblies): public abstract class MyAbstractClass { private static readonly int MyAbstractClassVersion = 1; public abstract int ImplementedVersion { get; } protected MyAbstractClass() { CheckVersion(); } private void CheckVersion() { var message = string.Format( "MyAbstractClass implements Version {0}, concrete is Version {1}", RepositoryVersion, ImplementedVersion); if (!MyAbstractClassVersion.Equals(ImplementedVersion)) throw new InvalidOperationException(message); } } public class ConcreteClass : MyAbstractClass { public ConcreteClass() : base() { // ConcreteClass is guaranteed to have // a constructor that calls the base constructor // I just simplified the example } public override int ImplementedVersion { get { return 2; } } } As you see, I call CheckVersion() from the abstract constructor, to get rid of the "virtual member call in base constructor" message, but I am not sure if that's really the way to do it. Sure, it works, but that doesn't mean it will always work, will it? Also, I wonder if I can get the name of the Concrete Type from the CheckVersion() function? I know that adding new abstract members will force an error anyway (System.TypeLoadException) and I'm not sure if I want this type of strict Versioning, but I'm just curious how it would be done properly given only the abstract class and an implementation (I know I could do it by using interfaces and/or a Factory pattern).

  • Two Column Theme, Help, to make both columns seperately Scrollable.

    - by Michael macDonald
    Hey, I am not sure what to do on this one, I'm not a programmer, but trying to learn CSS as this is how the theme I am using was coded in. I've gotten quite far on my own, but this one stumps me Its two column Theme... As far as I have been able to get, I can use the following: #left { width: 235px; padding: 10px; margin-left: 20px; position: fixed; line-height: 15px; If I change the position to Absolute, The whole page scrolls, If I leave it at Fixed, and add lets say, a Twitter feed, or other type of text that takes me past its reading where you would normally scroll, Its just cut off, cannot get to it, hightlight or scroll.. I've also toyed with the idea, of changing the theme to a 3 column theme, but Again, not a programmer, and i'd be really confused. anyhelp would be great... My Website is at 99lessoxygen.tumblr.com, code was found from http://nigredotheme.tumblr.com

  • How to find kth minimal element in the union of two sorted arrays?

    - by Michael
    This is a homework question. They say it takes O(logN + logM) where N and M are the arrays lengths. Let's name the arrays a and b. Obviously we can ignore all a[i] and b[i] where i k. First let's compare a[k/2] and b[k/2]. Let b[k/2] a[k/2]. Therefore we can discard also all b[i], where i k/2. Now we have all a[i], where i < k and all b[i], where i < k/2 to find the answer. What is the next step?

  • InfoPath: How to display a third column of a datasource?

    - by Michael Bray
    I have an InfoPath 2007 browser-enabled form that has a datasource with three columns, let's say columns A, B, and C. I have a dropdown that is keyed to column A and displays column B. Column C contains some data that I want to display in an expression box, and that I also want to use in some data validation against another field on the form. I'm looking for some help on how to reference that column C for displaying and use in validation. Thanks!
