  • SWT: cleaning up before application exit

    - by Alexey Romanov
What is the best way for an SWT application to clean up resources before application exit? I see two options: 1) Add a DisposeListener to main window (or better, to the Display). Will it get run if an uncaught exception happens? 2) Use a shutdown hook. Any problems to be aware of there which aren't mentioned in Design of the Shutdown Hooks API?

    Hi there. I have the following class that generates sequencial Card Numbers. I'm trying to recover from OptimisticLockException, by calling recursively the same method. however, i'm getting TransactionRequiredException. Dows anyone knows how to recover from OptimisticLockException in my case? Thanks a lot in advance @Name("simpleAutoIncrementGenerator") public class SimpleAutoIncrementGenerator extends CardNumberGenerator{ private static final long serialVersionUID = 2869548248468809665L; private int numberOfRetries = 0; @Override public String generateNextNumber(CardInstance cardInstance, EntityManager entityManager) { try{ EntityCard card = (EntityCard)entityManager.find(EntityCard.class, cardInstance.getId()); if(card != null){ String nextNumber = ""; String currentNumber = card.getCurrentCardNumber(); if(currentNumber != null && !currentNumber.isEmpty()){ Long numberToInc = Long.parseLong(currentNumber); numberToInc ++; nextNumber = String.valueOf(numberToInc); card.setCurrentCardNumber(nextNumber); // this is just to cause a OptimisticLock Exception try { Thread.sleep(4000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } entityManager.persist(card); entityManager.flush(); return nextNumber; } } }catch (OptimisticLockException oLE) { System.out.println("\n\n\n\n OptimisticLockException \n\n\n\n"); if(numberOfRetries < CentralizedConfig.CARD_NUMBER_GENERATOR_MAX_TRIES){ numberOfRetries ++; return generateNextNumber(cardInstance,entityManager); } }catch (TransactionRequiredException trE) { System.out.println("\n\n\n\n TransactionRequiredException \n\n\n\n"); if(numberOfRetries < CentralizedConfig.CARD_NUMBER_GENERATOR_MAX_TRIES){ numberOfRetries ++; return generateNextNumber(cardInstance,entityManager); } }catch (StaleObjectStateException e) { System.out.println("\n\n\n\n StaleObjectStateException \n\n\n\n"); if(numberOfRetries < CentralizedConfig.CARD_NUMBER_GENERATOR_MAX_TRIES){ numberOfRetries ++; return generateNextNumber(cardInstance,entityManager); } } return null; } }

  • Query related to Connection type BIS-B Socket in Blackberry application

    - by mobile_dev
Hi all, I am trying to establish BIS Socket connection. I am able to establish BIS Http connection from my service provider. • Spring MVC: should service layer be returning operation specific DTO's ?

    - by arrages
In my Spring MVC application I am using DTO in the presentation layer in order to encapsulate the domain model in the service layer. The DTO's are being used as the spring form backing objects. hence my services look something like this: userService.storeUser(NewUserRequestDTO req); The service layer will translate DTO - Domain object and do the rest of the work. Now my problem is that when I want to retrieve a DTO from the service to perform say an Update or Display I can't seem to find a better way to do it then to have multiple methods for the lookup that return different DTO's like... EditUserRequestDTO userService.loadUserForEdit(int id); DisplayUserDTO userService.loadUserForDisplay(int id); but something does not feel right about this approach. The reason do have separate DTO's is that DisplayUserDTO is strongly typed to be read only and also there are many properties of user that are entities from a lookup table in the db (like city and state) so the DisplayUserDTO would have the string description of the properties while the EditUserRequestDTO will have the id's that will back the select drop down lists in the forms. What do you think? thanks

  • Swing code in sockets

    - by asb
I am learning swings for making GUI. I was thinking which is the best possible way in case of socket with swings. 1. The whole swing code goes in the server file. All the handlers and logic in on server side. Client only create socket. 2. The server have logic part. The code for the swing to display interface goes on client side. Client Creates stream to send / rec. data from server. Whch is the good way out of 2 ?

  • How to specify schema location in an xsd file?

    - by Manoj
I have an xsd file Foo.xsd. I tried following ways to refer it in a WSDL file but it doesnt work. 1) placed the xsd file in local file system and imported it as <xsd:import namespace="http://ws.test.com/" schemaLocation="file:///D:/wsdl/Foo.xsd"></xsd:import> 2) Placed the xsd file in web root folder and imported as <xsd:import namespace="http://ws.test.com/" schemaLocation="http://localhost:8080/Xfire/Foo.xsd"></xsd:import> When I run the client I get null for the fields of response object. But this works when I embed the type definition inside the WSDL itself. How do we specify the path to external xsds? I am using xFire 1.2.6 for generating webservices. Client is generated using xFire WSGen ant task.

  • String intern puzzles

    - by Yob
On this blog I found interesting String puzzles: --- Quote --- String te = "te", st = "st"; //"test".length(); String username = te + st; username.intern(); System.out.println("String object the same is: " + (username == "test")); prints String object the same is: true but uncomment the "test".length(); line and it prints String object the same is: false --- EoQ --- Being honest I don't understand why the outputs are different. Could you please explain me what's the cause of such behaviour?

  • Can I do a URL Rewrite to a different Tomcat instance?

    - by RodeoClown
Is is possible to use Tuckey's URL Rewrite to rewrite to a different Tomcat instance? I have it working using crossContext="true" rewriting to a different servlet on the same tomcat instance, but our production server has multiple tomcat instances running and I want to rewrite to one of them instead? If it's not possible using the URL Rewrite filter, is there another way of doing it? Thanks.

  • Jboss Seam Booking Example Extract Shared Libs From Ear

    - by michael lucas
Example Booking Application, which JBoss Seam is shipped with, build into EAR file of about 7 MB. That's pretty much if you consider deploying this package to a remote Jboss server and possibly redeploying it package many times during your regular work. Lib files like richfaces and jsf-facelet make the lion's share of that EAR size. Why can't we just extract lib files into jboss-web.deployer directory on JBoss 4.2.0 GA server?

Any way to look at the apk to see what's in it like this jar file? looking around did not see anything.

MyCollection extends ArrayList<MyClass> MyClass implements Data yet this gives me the "cannot convert from ArrayList to MyCollection" MyCollection mycollection = somehandler.getCollection(); where getCollection looks like this public ArrayList<Data> getCollection() So my assumptions are obviously wrong. How can I make this work like I would like it to
