I ran /scripts/easyapache on one of my cpanel servers last night and since then PHP just gives 501 errors, which no logs I can find. Has anyone come across this before? Is it fixable?

  • Convert HTACCESS mod_rewrite directives to nginx format?

    - by Chris
I'm brand new to nginx and I am trying to convert the app I wrote over from Apache as I need the ability to serve a lot of clients at once without a lot of overhead! I'm getting the hang of setting up nginx and FastCGI PHP but I can't wrap my head around nginx's rewrite format just yet. I know you have to write some simple script that goes in the server {} block in the nginx config but I'm not yet familiar with the syntax. Could anyone with experience with both Apache and nginx help me convert this to nginx format? Thanks! # ------------------------------------------------------ # # Rewrite from canonical domain (remove www.) # # ------------------------------------------------------ # RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com RewriteRule (.*) http://domain.com/$1 [R=301,L] # ------------------------------------------------------ # # This redirects index.php to / # # ------------------------------------------------------ # RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]+\ /(index|index\.php)\ HTTP/ RewriteRule ^(index|index\.php)$ http://domain.com/ [R=301,L] # ------------------------------------------------------ # # This rewrites 'directories' to their PHP files, # # fixes trailing-slash issues, and redirects .php # # to 'directory' to avoid duplicate content. # # ------------------------------------------------------ # RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/$1.php -f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php [L] RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/$1.php -f RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ http://domain.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]+\ /[^.]+\.php\ HTTP/ RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/$1.php -f RewriteRule ^([^.]+)\.php$ http://domain.com/$1 [R=301,L] # ------------------------------------------------------ # # If it wasn't redirected previously and is not # # a file on the server, rewrite to image generation # # ------------------------------------------------------ # RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9_\-@#\ "'\+]+)/?([a-z0-9_\-]+)?(\.png|/)?$ generation/image.php?user=${escapemap:$1}&template=${escapemap:$2} [NC,L]

  • Compiling Gearman PHP Library for CentOS 5.8

    - by Andrew Ellis
I've been trying to get Gearman compiled on CentOS 5.8 all afternoon. Unfortunately I am restricted to this version of CentOS by my CTO and how he has our entire network configured. I think it's simply because we don't have enough resources to upgrade our network... But anyways, the problem at hand. I have searched through Server Fault, Stack Overflow, Google, and am unable to locate a working solution. What I have below is stuff I have pieced together from my searching. Searches have told said to install the following via yum: yum -y install --enablerepo=remi boost141-devel libgearman-devel e2fsprogs-devel e2fsprogs gcc44 gcc-c++ To get the Boost headers working correctly I did this: cp -f /usr/lib/boost141/* /usr/lib/ cp -f /usr/lib64/boost141/* /usr/lib64/ rm -f /usr/include/boost ln -s /usr/include/boost141/boost /usr/include/boost With all of the dependancies installed and paths setup I then download and compile gearmand-1.1.2 just fine. wget -O /tmp/gearmand-1.1.2.tar.gz https://launchpad.net/gearmand/1.2/1.1.2/+download/gearmand-1.1.2.tar.gz cd /tmp && tar zxvf gearmand-1.1.2.tar.gz ./configure && make -j8 && make install That works correctly. So now I need to install the Gearman library for PHP. I have attempted through PECL and downloading the source directly, both result in the same error: checking whether to enable gearman support... yes, shared not found configure: error: Please install libgearman What I don't understand is I installed the libgearman-devel package which also installed the core libgearman. The installation installs libgearman-devel-0.14-3.el5.x86_64, libgearman-devel-0.14-3.el5.i386, libgearman-0.14-3.el5.x86_64, and libgearman-0.14-3.el5.i386. Is it possible the package version is lower than what is required? I'm still poking around with this, but figured I'd throw this up to see if anyone has a solution while I continue to research a fix. Thanks!

  • emails not sending from CentOS 5.6 VM on Win7 via PHP code

    - by crmpicco
    I am experiencing an issue where my CentOS 5.6 (Final) VM running on Windows 7 has stopped sending emails from my PHP code. I'm confident this isn't a coding issue as I have the exact same code running in my office and emails send correctly from there, hence why I believe this to be a networking/configuration issue. In my /etc/hosts/ file on my VM I have the following: 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 192.168.0.9 crmpicco.co.uk m.crmpicco.co.uk dev53.localdomain When I run setup on my VM the DNS configuration is set to dev53.localdomain and my Primary DNS is 192.168.0.1. In My /var/log/maillog files I see a lot of this sort of thing: Nov 19 14:36:58 dev53 sendmail[21696]: qAJEawI7021696: from=<[email protected]>, size=12858, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<1353335817.9103820024efb30b451d006dc4ab3370@PHPMAILSERVER>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1] Nov 19 14:36:58 dev53 sendmail[21693]: qAJEawvd021693: [email protected], [email protected] (48/48), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=42681, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (qAJEawI7021696 Message accepted for delivery) Nov 19 14:36:59 dev53 sendmail[21698]: qAJEawI7021696: to=<[email protected]>, delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:01, mailer=esmtp, pri=132858, relay=mailserver.fletcher.co.uk. • Using NFS for scalable PHP/MySQL web application

    - by Jeroen Moons
Here's the situation: I have a PHP/MySQL web application that accepts user uploads (pdf files). From these pdf files' pages a preview image is made on the fly and presented to the web app's users. Some pdfs might be on the large side, most will be under 50 MB but some extreme cases could be as large as a few hundred MB. A little waiting for the preview image for large pdf files is acceptable but no more than a minute let's say. Everything is running on one server for now, but soon the app will hit the server's limit on both storage and processing power. My idea to solve the problem: To deal with this situation I had the idea of having one or more pdf processing servers as needed, and one or more file storage servers. These two types of servers are mounted to the server on which the actual app runs using NFS. The app could then use GearMan to delegate pdf processing tasks to these processing servers. The processing server can mount the storage server and read the file stored there, process it and write its output to that server. The servers I'm talking about will be amazon ec2 instances. The web app returns a link to the resulting pdf preview image on the storage server that was used which can then be used on the front end to show the image to the user. My question: I have zero experience with apps that use multiple servers, is this idea viable or is there a better way to do it? Is an NFS setup fast and reliable enough for this situation?

  • Upgrade Centos 5 tot PHP 5.2 or 5.3 [recommended way?]

    - by solid
We are using Zend Framework and in version 2, php 5.2 will be the minimum requirement. We love CentOS and we'd like to keep using it, but PHP 5.1 just won't do anymore when developing web applications with Zend framework. I found several links to solutions to upgrade with external repositories. http://serverfault.com/questions/106801/recommended-method-to-upgrade-php-5-1-6-to-5-2-x-on-centos-5 http://www.webtatic.com/blog/2009/05/installing-php-526-on-centos-5/ http://www.webtatic.com/blog/2009/06/php-530-on-centos-5/ We'd like to see another solution with the use of an "official?" CentOS repository if any is available. We only need to upgrade PHP, the rest of the CentOS setup is fine the way it is. For us, it's important however to keep the YUM cycle intact using the normal repositories. So in short: is it even possible to upgrade only PHP by using an external repo or otherwise? While still upgrading all our other packages safely through normal yum usage? Thanks for your help!

  • PHP unable to allocate memory.

    - by AlReece45
On my way to the office this morning, every website on our shared VPS started giving the same error (several times, not the typical memory_limit error which is fatal): Warning: Unknown: Unable to allocate memory for pool. in Unknown on line 0 The shared server is a 64-bit OpenVZ container running cPanel. There are only ~6 VPSes on the host-- this is the largest one at only 4GB. The host itself has 24GB RAM. As the below graphs show, the memory usage on the host and VPS are both rather low. CPU Usage/Disk/Host all seem to be normal. RlimitMem was set to 583653034, yet the memory usage is about the same as it usually is. Apache 2.2, PHP 5.2 (mod_php) Restarting Apache has corrected the problem for now. However, I'd like to prevent it from happening again and I'm not sure what was limiting the memory. RlimitMem was set to 583653034, yet the memory usage is about the same as it usually is. There's seems to be plenty of memory: what caused this error? VPS Memory Usage Host Memory Usage APC Information apc.ttl=0 apc.shm_size=0 apc.mmap_file_mask=(blank) 1 Segment(s) with 32.0 MBytes (mmap memory, pthread mutex locking)

  • How to choose the right PHP Framework for web development?

    - by liliwang
Hi! I'm a PHP Pro, but haven't use any PHP framework till now, so I have no clue on how to choose a PHP framework. Do you have some tips to help me choose the/a right PHP Framework? I want a stable and secure PHP framework for Projects with about 400 hours development time. It should be possible to use the framework on Shared-Hosting-Webservers. I don't need some AJAX support (I'm using extJS). It would be nice if the framework supports Rapid Application Development and object-relational mapping. Also some of the standard-functions (Authentification, form validation) would be nice. Caching would be a useful, but isn't needed. Needs for a PHP framework: Shared-Hosting-Webserver-Support for Projects between 200 und 400 hours work Developing Modell "Rapid Application Development" supported object-relational mapping supported If possible: Caching Already finished Modules (e.g. Authentification, form validation, ..) Easy to learn Which PHP framework is the right one I am seeking for?

  • Imitate Google suggest with Ajax and php

    - by phil
    I want to imitate Google suggest with the following code, which means: step 1: When user types in search box, the query string will be processed by a server php file and query suggestion string is returned(using Ajax object). step 2:When user clicks on a query suggestion, it will fill into the search box (autocomplete). Step 1 is achieved while step 2 is not. I think the problem lies in the .click() method. My intention is to use .click() binding a onclick event to the dynamically created <li> element. Any idea? <script src="jquery-1.4.2.js"> </script> <style> #search,#suggest,ul,li{margin: 0; padding:0; width: 200px;} ul{ list-style-type: none;} .border{border: solid red 1px; } </style> <p>My first language is:</p> <input type="text" width="200px" id="search" onkeyup="main(this.value)" value="" /> <ul id="suggest"></ul> <script type="text/javascript"> function main(str) { //setup Ajax object var request=new XMLHttpRequest(); request.open("GET","language.php?q="+str,true) //core function request.onreadystatechange=function() { if ( request.readyState==4 && request.status==200) { if (str=="") {$('li').remove(); $('ul').removeClass('border');return;} $('li').remove(); array=request.responseText.split(","); for (i=0;i<array.length;i++) { //create HTML element of <li> $('#suggest').append($('<li>',{id: 'li'+i, html: array[i]})); //style ul $('ul').addClass('border'); //I THINK HERE IS THE PROBLEM! $('li'+i).click(function(){ $("#search").html(array[i]);}); } } } request.send(); } </script> PHP: <?php $q=$_GET[q]; $a[]='english'; $a[]='chinese'; $a[]='japanese'; $a[]='eeeeee'; //lookup all hints from array if length of q>0 if (strlen($q) > 0) { $hint=""; for($i=0; $i<count($a); $i++) { if (strtolower($q)==strtolower(substr($a[$i],0,strlen($q)))) { if ($hint=="") { $hint=$a[$i]; } else { $hint=$hint." , ".$a[$i]; } } } } // Set output to "no suggestion" if no hint were found // or to the correct values if ($hint == "") { $response="no suggestion"; } else { $response=$hint; } //output the response echo $response; ?>

  • netbeans 6.8 php, xdebug, mamp - cannot establish a connection

    - by Mike
I'm having no luck whatsoever with debuggers either on Zend Studio or NetBeans. I cannot believe the difficulty I'm having with these IDE's. I've read all the prior questions on netbeans-xdebug problems. According to those answers, my configuration is correct. Nonetheless, when I try to run xdebug, NetBeans hangs. I cancel the connection and get the popup dialog: "There is no connection, blah blah blah..." Here's my php.ini [xdebug] ; Xdebug config for Mac OS X and NetBeans IDE zend_extension=/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/xdebug.so xdebug.remote_enable=on xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp xdebug.remote_mode=req xdebug.remote_host=127.0.0.1 xdebug.remote_port=9000 xdebug.idekey=netbeans-xdebug In NetBeans preferences, my session ID = netbeans-xdebug. I tried xdebug.idekey="netbeans-xdebug" That made no difference. I restarted the web server every time. Anyone have any other suggestions I might try? Thanks.

  • Enable PDO for PHP5 on CentOS5 where PHP is configured as '--disable-pdo'

    - by jakenoble
Hi I have been given access to a CentOS5 machine by my client for their new site which uses Zend Framework. phpinfo() states in Configure Command that PDO is disabled ('--disable-pdo'). How can enable it? Do I need to recompile PHP5 to enable it? I have tried adding 'extension=pdo.so' in php.ini and restarting Apache, but this didn't work. It would also be nice to understand what '--disable-pdo' actaully means, does it mean it's not compiled into PHP or does it mean its just not enabled? Thanks for your time

  • What response Adobe Acrobat/Reader gets back after submitting form to a PHP script

    - by Laszlo
Hi, PDF experts help needed, I am posting a form from PDF to a PHP script with Adobe Acrobat. I would like to set my PDF to display appropiate messages based upon some returned values. So I am looking for returned values... if there is any returned values after posting the form, how can I access them? Maybe, there is an option to set this in Adobe? Another thing: When the PDF form gets submitted and let's say I echo back a 'thank you' message from my form-handler PHP script, a new PDF gets created and opened displaying my message... is there a way to open that new message in the same window and close the form instead? Thanks, Laz

  • learning OO with PHP

    - by dole doug
Hi there I've started to learn OO programming, but using the PHP language with the help of the "PHP 5 Objects, Patterns, and Practice" book. The thing is that I wish to learn to use into same time the CakePHP framework which make use a lot of the MVC pattern. Because I don't know much about OO and less about MVC I wish to understand the later one but assumptions I make with my OO knowledges might have bad impact on long term. Does anyone know a good tutorial about what means MVC (more than cakephp manual says about it, but more easy to read/understand than wikipedia)? TY

Hi everyone, just have a short question here. I've just installed new php extension (geoip.so) using pecl to /usr/local/zend/lib/php_extensions/ and added the extension to the php.ini. Run the code and it works just fine. But Zend Studio is giving warning of undefined geoip function. Try to add the directory path above to the include path of Zend Studio, still the warning exists. Any clue how to remove this warning? Thank you in advance!! /Agustinus

  • Getting libjpeg/libTIFF.dylib error after recompiling php in OS X 10.6.3 Server

    - by leggo-my-eggo
I've recompiled php 5.3.0 under OS X Server (10.6.3) in order to gain Freetype support in GD. As part of the process, I recompiled libjpeg-8a (and before that I tried libjpeg-7). But when I run apachectcl configtest, I get the following error: httpd: Syntax error on line 155 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_user_host_apple.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_user_host_apple.so, 10): Symbol not found: __cg_jpeg_resync_to_restart\n Referenced from: /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ImageIO.framework/Versions/A/Resources/libTIFF.dylib\n Expected in: /usr/lib/libJPEG.dylib\n in /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ImageIO.framework/Versions/A/Resources/libTIFF.dylib I don't really understand the error. Is there anyone who could help me figure out how to fix it? In php the gd library now seems unaware of libjpeg support.
