  • Keeping track of threads when creating them recursively

    I'm currently working on some code for my Programming Languages course. I can't post the code but I'm permitted to talk about some high level concepts that I'm struggling with and receive input on them. Basically the code is a recursive DFS on a undirected graph that I'm supposed to convert to a concurrent program. My professor already specified that I should create my threads in the recursive DFS method and then join them in another method. Basically, I'm having trouble thinking of how I should keep track of the threads I'm creating so I can join all of them in the other method. I'm thinking an array of Threads but I'm unsure how to add each new thread to the array or even if that's the right direction.

Something confused me between step 2 and step 3. After partitioning, I get some communities which contains nodes number. The community numbers and nodes numbers are the only input to step 3, and how I simulate SIS with and without communities?

    I need to open a new pop up window on click of a button in a view. The new window should be redirect to a specific actionmethod in a specific controller. I also need to provide attributes for size of the new pop up window. Why is it expecting Maybe () when the type signature is actually Maybe a? Why does it want an empty tuple, or a function taking no arguments, or what is () supposed to be?

    How can I write a function using template specialization that has 2 different input types and an output type: template <class input1, class input2, class output> and return the sum of the 2 numbers (integers/doubles).     I am working on a code which requires a function. This function gets a string as input and returns a string. What I have planned so far is to get a str[], remove all $'s and spaces, and store this in another string which is returned later: char *getstring(char str[]) { int i=0; char rtn[255]; while (i<strlen(str)) { if (str[i] != " " || str[i] != "$" ) rtn[i] = str[i]; else rtn[i] = ''; } return str; } I dont feel like this will work.     Is it possible to set "for"(AssociatedControlID) attribute using jQuery? I am trying something like this to set it to the very next control that appears after label: $('label.asssociateClass').each(function() { var toAssociate = $(this).next(':input'); $(this).attr("for", toAssociate.attr("id")); }); The problem is that if I don't set it on a server through AssociatedControlID it never gets here since it's rendered as span instead of label in that case. Is there a way to overcome this or I have to do it on a server?

I need to make the latter function sleep at regular intervals but that seems to be blocking the stdin. Any advice on how to resolve this would be appreciated.   • [C#] Creating standalone, console (shell) for domain-specific operations

    Say that I have a system service, and I want to offer a low-level maintenance access to it. For that purpose, I'd like to create a standalone, console application that somehow connects to server process and lets user type in commands, allow it to use auto-completion and auto-suggestion on single/double TAB press (just like linux bash shell, mysql cli, cmd.exe, and countless others), allow command line editing capabilities (history, cursor keys to move around text..), etc. Now, it's not that much of a problem to create something like that by rolling my own from scratch, handling user input, scanning pressed keys, and doing correct actions. But, why reinvent the wheel? Is there some library/framework that helps with this kind of problems, just like readline library that offers improved command-line editing capabilities under linux? Of course, this new "shell" would respond only to valid, domain-specific commands, and would suggest valid arguments, options, switches... Any ideas? Thanks!

  • CSV file download ignored in ie8/9

    I have some code in a button click event which gets a csv string from a hidden input and writes it to the response as a CSV file. This work fine in Chrome, Firefox, ie7, ie9 in quirks mode. However it does not work in ie8 or ie9 default. Looking at this in fiddler the csv is being written to the response but the another get request is being made immediately after and the page reloads.     I am developing a project in asp.net web forms. I have a little problem. Whent the page load, I load some data from the dabase and present it on the page. On the same page I have form where I can input some textobox and with the click on the button make update on the same data in the database whis is at the first time loaded on the same page? The date is update, I can see it in SQL SERVER, but on the web page not. Its still the old data presents. After I close my application and run it again, then the new data appears on the page.

  • In which document do file specifications belong?

    In which document would a file specification belong? Perhaps this file is used as an input to a third-party system. Would it belong in its own document? Or would it be better to put it in the functional or design spec? Or somewhere else? When I say file specification, I mean a description of what format the file is (CSV, fixed width, etc), columns, data types, etc. Also, where should you document how the file is generated? i.e. business rules/algorithms which are used to generate the file.

    I am building a webpage using PHP to search within my database. I am able to do a query and get the data to show on my page. I also have a picture that is related to each record. Let's say something like a picture ID for each employee. I am wondering what is the best way to store and retrieve pictures in order to get it show using PHP. Is there a way to store all the pictures in the subfolder like " image" and retrieve the pictures using PHP? I tried to search around on the internet, but I get confused. Also, when I type something in the search box and click the button, is there a way to keep the input in the search box without erasing it? Thank you very much.

  • Local variable and Try/Catch

    I get an error, a red line below the variable intAge in the if-statement in the code. It says the variable is local, but how could it be local when it is declared in the beginning of the code? Does it have to do with the Try/Catch part? The reason why my code looks like it does, is just beacuse I have to use a Try/Catch in the code for this task. What I really need is my own custom button (which will ultimately be an image) that upon successful file select (not upload quite yet) triggers a jQuery event to show a div.
