I am new to coding and would just like to know a bit more about frameworks. How does a framework help you code and what exactly is it? Such as Zend for php.
I've been browsing through all of the CSS related cross-browser questions trying to troubleshoot my IE styling issues with no luck. Can anyone tell me how to fix my homepage styles so that it displays the same in IE as it currently does in Firefox? I've used Firebug (probably why it looks good in Firefox) but I can't find any tools for IE that will let me change the stylesheet real time. I'm just as interested in the process of figuring out this answer as I am in the answer itself so posting the steps you took to figure it out would be beneficial. (want to be able to do this myself next time!!!)
Website is AppQandA.com. Scroll down to the bottom in IE and notice the footer. It's not like this on every page.....just the main page and the questions page.
Is there a best-practice when it comes to where to put the logging functionality in an MVC application, for example a Zend Framework application (Zend_Log)? Should I put the logging in the controller or in the model? Or in both?
If in both, should they have the same logger or a separate one?
Hi,
I am a newbie to Zend framework, I want to know how can we restrict the call to predispatch() function in my controller for any particular action.

I am looking to execute this statement via Zend Framework. As I understand it, I can use Zend_Db_Select. Is it possible to use Zend_Db_Table?
Three tables: classes, students, and class_students
select classes.name, students.student_id, students.fname, students.lname from students, classes, class_students where class_students.student_id=students.student_id AND class_students.class_id=classes.class_id;
Is there an equivalence in Entity Framework to NHibernate SchemaExport?
Given I have a working Entity-Model, I would like to programmatically initialize a database.
I would like to use this functionality in the setup of my integration tests.
Creating the matching DDL for an Entity-Model would also suffice.
I would like to be able to display the version of the .NET framework a windows form or wpf project is targeted at and display it in the title bar of the app.
Is there a way I can do this?
Thanks
I'm using Entity Framework for creation of my Data Access Layer and I want for all of my classes to be internal.
I know it is possible to manually assign it manually in the designer for each class. But looks like it also requires to set internal modifier for each single property in every class! I have about 30+ entities and it will be a huge work to do.
Do you know any ideas how to set a 'default access' for the entire model?
I have many entities (Customers, prospects,...)
I have one entity called Notes, which can handle notes for Customers,prospects...
The Notes table is then:
Id
Parent_Id
Parent_Type
Note
How to handle this with Entity Framework ?
Thanks

I have a form in a Compact Framework application. When the user presses the 'X' button in the top right, the screen doesn't refresh until the users taps anywhere on the screen.
The form is being shown using this code:
using (var customerDetailsForm = ObjectFactory.Get<CustomerDetailsForm>())
{
customerDetailsForm.AssignCustomerId(customerId);
customerDetailsForm.ShowDialog();
}

Offending browser: Internet Explorer 7
You'll notice from the screenshot, or if you view this site in IE7, that the background image is not displaying for the content div (#modal-inner-content). Strangely, the image displays in the other divs where it is used (since it's a sprite, I'm using that same image for #modal-top-border and #modal-btm-border).
In all other browsers it displays properly, and even in IE8. I cannot seem to find what CSS rule (or lack thereof) I may be using that IE7 is choking on.
NOTE: in order to get the modal screen, just click the link at the very top banner of the page that says "login to your CURE account
I recently came across this CSS selector while trying to find a way to easily space out major blog elements such as paragraphs and images. An example of its use would be something like this:
.post *+* {margin-top: 15px;}
/* or... */
.post > *+* {margin-top: 15px;}
/* if you don't want the margin to apply to nested elements */
At first glance, it seemed pretty useful. So my question is: What downsides are there to using these selectors?
Specifically:
What's the browser support like for this?
Are there any cases you wouldn't want an even margin spacing between elements in an article and if not, is it easier to declare this first and then overwrite or simply declare each element individually?
Does this have performance issues since you're selecting everything twice?
Is there a way in Zend Framework or default PHP to map a country (using country code) to a list of timezones? As an example I'm trying to replicate the Google functionality when searching for "time in australia right now" which displays all of the timezones and cities for that country.
Hi Everyone,

My Issue is that any and all exceptions are logged, but they are appearing in the culture of the device, in some cases this means i am unable to read them.

Is it possible to use Entity Framework v4.0 in a .Net 3.5 application?

Hi,
The standard extension for template files in Zend Framework is .phtml... I need to change them to .js in one specific module... can anyone help... I'd ideally like to change this a Controller level...
Many thanks...
Right now I am using an extension to linq to provide me with the functionality of Contains. I call the WhereIn like this:
Answers = Answers.WhereIn(x => x.category.catid, catSTRarray);
Is there a built in function within entity framework to use?
I am working on a project and I am using Entity Framework 4 as my ORM. I am implementing POCO classes. Every example I see with EF 4 and POCOs implements all properties with public setters. Is that the only way I can use POCO classes with EF 4? Do all my setters need to be public?
I need to convert Keys.Enter to a char.
This does not work in compact framework: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2518749/convert-sequence-of-system-windows-forms-keys-to-a-char (KeyInterop.VirtualKeyFromKey)
Any one have any other ideas?
I need some help with a CSS layout. It is set up like this:
+--------------------+
| | | header |
|-| |--------------|
| |nav| content |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| footer |
+--------------------+
So, the nav is supposed to be floating above all the main page content. That's why I have it set to be absolutely positioned. The issue is that the nav items are dynamic, without a set height. Right now, the nav expands past the content. How can I fix it so that the content will have an auto height based off the nav?
Thanks in advance.
I've Googled for this but must be using the wrong keywords.
Basically I want to use the effect that Magento and now Stack Overflow uses. That is, there is an element in a column, and when you scroll down, it sticks to the top of the viewport. And once scrolled up again, it goes back into the normal page flow.
This Ask A Question is a good page for example. Scroll down and watch the "How to Format" element come down (might need to make your viewport smaller if you have a large screen to see the effect).
I've noticed it is setting position: fixed in the CSS. The JavaScript however is obfuscated.
What's the easiest way to achieve this effect? Is there a jQuery plugin available?
Anybody can help me to get date formated with Zend framework

I what I need is: May 22, 2010
Thanks.
The option to target another version of the .Net Framework is disabled on a particular test system we are using on a current project.
I have tried the following without success:

Just hoping for some pointers.
